Read 20 Customer Service Reviews 😠💢

4.3 out of 5
Starts strong finishes weak, poor service

Do yourself a favor. Read the reviews, the star levels are pumped up, do the math. I have deleted StarTrekFleetCommand. When I first started the game There were only a few bugs and had more than enough resources to help build. As with any strategy game when you progress resources become more scarce. Today there are more bugs that cause the game to glitch or just quit and when it does you lose all your hard earned Dilithium for no reason. I notified their customer service twice with no response. Once you pass level 9 it is next impossible to mine Dilithium And Other raw elements to help you build your ships upgrade your supplies and materials and station. I am at level 14 and won’t go beyond because once you go to level 15 then your station can be regularly attacked by others. The problem with is that just about everybody is subject to trolls. You can’t mine for minerals longer than five minutes before somebody is fighting with you and killing you. To keep up with everyone you need to buy upgrades. It starts out cheap at $5 but after you buy one or two you can only buy$25 items, then later only $50 items are available. If you ever watch the advertisement on TV the play of the game is nothing like that, you don’t see any video clips or epic battles. The commercial has nothing to do with the game. I started out enjoying the game now it just not worth playing. Don’t waste your time unless you got money to burn.

Pay to win is a reality

This game is fun, it’s a lot of fun. Cool missions, easy game play. I got to level 22, and now I realize it’s a complete pay to win system. Most games you can put in more time and actually compete. I’ve spent 45 dollars on this game and I’m still WAY behind the big guns. I thought I could grind it out, but it’s impossible. They offer massive upgrades that you can buy. They call these prime upgrades. And at the higher levels they are basically impossible to obtain. And it’s not just a small bonus. The bonus is like, double all ship damage for 20-50 dollars. And technically it’s possible to grind your way there, but i calculated that at a 20% drop rate for a rare mineral, and a 12 hour clock it would take a year to get one of these upgrades. And it doesn’t stop there by a long shot. You can pay to upgrade your officers and there is no limit. So people do it. I’ve heard of people dropping well over 1O,000 dollars for these crazy ships and crews. It’s just not fair. I’m all for paying for something’s, the game has to make money, but this game allows the ultra rich to absolutely dominate. I can’t blame them it’s a business, but they do not cap it. So I’m done. The game is actually a business and it’s not worth your time because people will just destroy your base, take your resources and there is nothing you can do about it. Well there is something you can do and it’s she’ll put some serious money.

Mobile issues

The game is beautiful and fun to play but be forewarned…they have issues if you are playing on a mobile device. I’m using an Apple iPad Pro…latest software and very strong WiFi. Never had any issues with other games but this one is terrible. The game freezes up, items lose part or all of their values. I have to close StarTrekFleetCommand and restart it constantly. Support suggested that I delete the game and reinstall it. I’ve done that numerous times. I’m currently working with their support to try and resolve the issues but according to others this is systemic to using a mobile device. They encourage you to use a laptop or PC…even give you extra daily rewards if you do. Again this is a beautiful game and I’m doing my best to stay with it. I’ve put a lot of money into it because I do like it. If you are using a laptop or PC don’t hesitate to download the game…you’ll love it. Mobile users beware.
Update:
I have sent dozens of screenshots to support showing them my issues. They insist everything is functioning fine…even though I’m having to delete and reinstall the game daily to just try and play it. Their support knows they have major issues but as long as they’re still bringing in the money they’ll ignore them. Losing players isn’t a problem for them if they still have big spenders. I don’t mind pay to win…I gave them $2k in a short period of time….but if I can’t play the game because of the bugs and they insist nothing is wrong then I’m out of here.

Seriously unbalanced

This game started out extremely fun. Who wouldn’t want to fly around in a starship, blow up hostiles, complete missions and engage is some friendly PvP. There are numerous pay walls as you progress and with a maximum level of 50, hitting a major pay wall at 19 is ridiculous. I spent just over $2k on the game and made it halfway through level 27. Upgrading structures and buildings takes 3-4x more resources than your station can possibly generate on its own. The change in resources needed as you level is exponential and not linear at all. At lvl 27 I can generate and hold ~3 million par steel. Building upgrades cost upwards of 10 million. It is absurd that on order to level up the station you must spend $99 per pack and probably need 3-4 packs to gain a level. Also, pack purchases scale with your station level. At lvl 1, packs give substantially less than at lvl 10 and even less at lvl 20. Packs shouldn’t be tiered to give more at higher levels. Packs should not scale whatsoever and simply give less benefit as you gain levels. Either that or make all packs scaled to what they would give at maximum level. The individual servers are run by those who spend tons of $$$ Because they have the most powerful stations and make the rules. I am quitting the game mostly for this reason alone. My recommendation is that unless you have a massive disposable income or are keen on massive credit card debt I would steer clear of this game entirely.

Cheating is apparently allowed.

So, not long ago, my server was merged into another server, that on average was way higher level then ours. My entire original server has been on its back foot ever since because the people originally from this server have decided we are “invaders” and have literally told us the only way we won’t be treated like dirt is if we quit and leave their server. Now, some of those same bully’s have started hacking the game so that if they target your ship, you can’t run away, your ship will magically change direction when you try and head strait at the oncoming attacker. I reported this, and was told by someone in support that this is “normal pvp”. If you don’t like getting bullied, or pay to win games, don’t play this game.

So coming back to with a new complaint. Now a new mechanic has been added to force pvp. As if the game wasn’t unbalanced enough with pay to win, now they have enacted events to require server wide pvp for 4 days straight. In other words, if you aren’t high enough level, it is now impossible to advance or make progress for 4 days out of the week. I have been playing this game since about a year after it launched and it has progressively gotten more and more unfair to anyone that is not rich and willing to drop stupid amounts of cash. The Devs have no idea what Star Trek is about and Gene Roddenberry would be disgusted with this type of thinking.

Game is worse then ever!

This game was fun till about level 21 then it just got horrible everything is way to expensive to buy, I could literally buy 3 PS4’s and a BMW with the money the alliance [BREW] spends in Server 36 and I could buy a House in Long Island with the amount the alliance [SUPR] spends on Server 36 it’s residuals all them 2 alliances do is bully every other alliance to get there way and territory update and add on has made this issue way worse! Not to mention you can’t upgrade your station without spending $50 a month and at least 7 hours a day of playtime a day once you hit level 28 and then you get hit constantly I have to buy shields constantly with my alliance points and it’s just making me not want to play then you have [BREW] Soggy and some other players photo shopping In game DM’s and reporting people for stuff they didn’t really say or was snap shot out of context and then that player gets banned for 24 hours without any warning so then the reporter gets to raid the base of the person he or she reported then that person is left with nothing and scopely gives zero crap about you or your account if you ain’t spending at least $20 a week all it takes is for you to call some racist a idiot and boom your banned for 24-48 hours with NO WARNING AND YOUR BASE IS RAIDED AND YOUR LEFT WITH NOTHING. Don’t play this game I’m level 28 almost level 29 and I’m hating this game more and more every day. Only reason I log on is cause I like the fellas in my alliance.

DISAPPOINTED!!!

I love STFC and have played for over 2 years. I have been becoming increasingly upset. The prices on their cash packs are $99 dollars. I rarely buy anything because it's ridiculous. Now today after launching a new arc Scopely has decided to inactivate an officer that we have had since the beginning because they had a glitch and it was really helping us so they inactivated her so that we can’t use her anymore to really help us and enjoy the game. This officer has been around since day one but because it’s really helping the players without having to buy with money other officers that are new. It’s just really disappointing that it seems like all Scopely cares about is our hard earned dollars. Yesterday when they rolled out the new Arc it was broken since the minute it was put up and then they had to take hours before it would come back up but still it’s sucked. I’m sorry but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to put a penny into this game Anymore. It's just a travesty and I guess they really don’t care about their player base and wouldn’t care if we left but I know I am going to socket to them where it hurts the most and that is their greedy pockets. I feel bad for the underlings that work for the company Cause I’m sure that they will be blamed for this whole fiasco. So no more of my money Scopely if I want to spend I’ll take it somewhere else I work too hard for my money and y’all are just greedy and ridiculous.

Pvp brackets ruin fun

*update to previous review* learning to protect yourself can solve some of the issues stated previously but Scopely allows and seems to encourage bullying. System constraints that allow player groups to literally *block* players from getting into defend their own territory. Power disparity forces people to purchase more as a team of 3 heavy spenders can easily hold off dozens of f2p or lower spending average players. Server mergers reduced what had become a peaceful and enjoyable format into a brawl mentality that forces nonspenders out of the game. Scopely allows the strife and bullying and hate speech even when brought to them. Their report system seems to do nothing and their ticket system is user unfriendly and limits your ability to report.** Been having a great time with the game until hitting level 20. Within 12 hours of that, I got cleaned out. People that 4 levels higher than me can attack. 20% higher in player level but 500% my power level. Weeks with of saving gone in less than an hour because a timed shield ran out. There is no way to combine shields to longer periods. There is no way to opt out of pvp. I spent money on this game (something I rarely do) because it felt like there was value to it but the pvp system completely ruined it as soon as I hit this range. I can’t justify another dime

The Tesla of Trek Games?

In many respects, this is a great game. Engaging content, great visuals and a large and dedicated gamer community. But this game is like a Tesla car. Full of driving promise, but fundamentally plagued with non-stop issues of quality control and scale.
It’s also an inside joke/lament among those who play STFC that Scopely is more interested in maximizing revenue than addressing player concerns. For example, stability of the iOS version is poor. Frequent crashes often interrupt play (to be fair, these have improved recently). But new bugs accompany every game update and rarely seem to be fixed rapidly.
Scopely periodically acknowledges just how burdensome daily game tasks have become — then promptly adds more (often buggy) content. And with every new feature, F2P progress becomes increasingly challenging.
I should also warn you that the fun and flow of this game is severely marred by interminable transition screens. Get used to messages such as “Preparing” or “Adjusting” as you wait for game screens to load. And that’s if you don’t have to reboot.
If, like the Tesla owner, you can look past the glitchy performance, and can ignore expensive in-game purchases necessary to compete effectively, you will really enjoy this Trek tribute. If not, you will quickly end up frustrated by Scopely’s missed chance to make this a truly epic game, which it has the potential to be.

Starts good but doesn’t last

Starts out fun exploring, missions, and resource gathering. But the closer you get to level 20 the less point there is to playing anymore. If you do the missions you eventually hit a point where your expected to kill ships that are over twice the power of your current ships, and to tier up your ships take forever unless you pay $$$. The resources needed for tier up and upgrades have to be gather, but mining vessels get destroyed before you can gather. And the fights become pointless, example: ship A power level 17k, ship B 120k power level. Ship b attacks every ship in the area, player with ship A wiped out, obviously. Ship c power level 11k, ship A cannot attack ship C because the level difference is too high... and yet having a ship with over 100k pl difference attack is perfectly fine. Don’t waste your time unless you want to spend hundreds of $$$s. Even someone of the same level can buy designs giving them 10s of thousands of power difference. While you think you can get the same for free and it will just take longer, that is not the case, I’m level 19 can’t do any of the missions I have because anything I have to fight is 2x the power level of my ships. Or they want donations of resources that max capacity doesn’t cover. Can’t mine anything without getting destroyed by ships that shouldn’t even need the resources I’m mining.

Still in the Alpha stage of development

I love Star Trek and so I have been excited to jump in and play. I am probably about 30 hours into game play and while I really have enjoyed the concept but definitely missing the mark. There are consistent issues with glitches and bugs. Menus or buttons will break and you won’t be able to exit or interact with anything. Notifications will get stuck and you won’t be able to get rid of a badge even though you’ve already acknowledged it.

After about level 10 you are able to attack and be attacked by other players. Which would seem exciting except for there are no natural barriers that separates players. So it doesn’t matter that you’ve advanced to a certain level, someone that is 3x your power can easily attack your ship and destroy it. You can also do the same to others. The challenge is if you’re trying to complete missions or mine resources it is inevitable that within a few minutes you will be attacked and destroyed. As your ships become more and more powerful it takes longer and longer for them to repair. So get ready to wait 30 minutes to an hour for your ships to rebuild every time you login.

I could go on about the things that aren’t quite there but this game has wasted enough of my time. Overall, great concept and if you have a week to blow on this game then do it. After that you’ll prolly get bored of it like so many other players and delete StarTrekFleetCommand .

Game is NOT Star Trek

Biggest problems are that the game is designed to be a predatory, player-eat-player mess. Players that shell out hundreds of dollars will always be able to beat you up and take your resources. Bases are upgradeable to ‘protect’ some of your resources, however the amount is extremely small and only a fraction of what you actually need to save up to do upgrades. If you want to keep people from raiding you, you have to shell out money to buy ‘peace shields’. Also, stupidly, you can’t use several smaller shields at once to have a longer shield, so your 1 hour and 4 shields are useless because you can’t cover a night of sleep or a work day with them. It only takes a few MINUTES for people to raid you and loot all your stuff, so even small gaps in protection will ruin you. Advancement is impossibly slow unless you shell out tons of cash. Upgrading officers and ships will literally take years without shelling out for multiple $99 bundles. Unlocking the base faction ships is doable with many months of farming, but anything above that will take you YEARS to unlock. Keep in mind that the resources you need to upgrade your bases and level are the same resources that upgrade your ships, so you can’t do both. So...years to upgrade base, then years to unlock a ship, then years to UPGRADE the ship. Gaining levels actually HURTS you in many ways. Quests you could complete yesterday are now impossible because the level of your target ships goes up.

Paywall after paywall

2025-Update. Developer has made strides in allowing you to unlock certain paywalls for free, but the game is still free to play, but pay to win. They have also made efforts to reduce the grind, but the grind is still significant. Be prepared for this game to take over your life. Set limits and find the right alliance and it can be fun.
2022-This game is a joke if you really believe this game is “free to play” as listed by the developer. Overall the game concepts are pretty good, but there is absolutely no way to obtain many features of the game that are required to be successful on the leaderboard style events, unless you drop major cash. Every update continually releases a new feature that costs more and more cash to obtain making the game less and less interesting. Unlike most games, the in game currency is basically worthless and CANNOT be used to buy any of the features that cost money. Expect to spend $100 right up front to get the “basic” permanent features to allow you to progress at a reasonable speed compared to the other players in the game. You could easily spend tens of thousands of dollars on this game to progress to a point where one could call it “fun”. Also the time needed to progress and be successful is crazy. One could say it is a 24 hour a day affair. Good luck.

3 stars

I gave three stars to star fleet command . One there is no alliances war being conducted with other alliances besides targeting miners with alliances or floating ships with alliance . Secondly the resources take to progress a ship is to long and only event ships are the best power houses. Thirdly the amount of officer exp needed to level them up and promote is to high for the quest rewards because at certain point in leveling the operation building . The fourth thing recruiting new officers or getting them promoted is to hard because can only get one character token . It is uncertain how many each of them need to maxed out . The missions do not recycled to get more officer exp or ship exp . Otherwise this free game for those who like destroying ships with some grind .Do not expect to get officers quicker or level them up quickly, or have any indication if there are more severs that are open to ios . This game can benefit by giving alliances more reward systems or give alliances sectors with mines only for that alliance. Other then speed upgrades and the eventual upgrade to do armadas. Low level alliance members can not participate in armadas which means they can not get rewards from it besides reducing the waiting period on upgrades. The last thing mention the roster of characters do not have the crew tag easily identified without having to click on the avatar to find out if they belong in that crew group.

Pay to Win

So this game has serious issues woth duality. On on hand it is likely the best star trek game made. The content is deep and grows significantly each new arc. On the other as many before have stated it is pay to play. Not a few bucks here and there, a get a 2nd mortgage on your house kind of cost. Big whale players spend 250,000 and more to stay in leaderboards. Medium players spend upwards of 700 to 1000 dollars a month just to try to stay strong enough to defend against whales who litterally go around bullying smaller players and making up thier own rules. There is a free to play option. I have been playing almost 4 years and im a mid tier player. Free to play players and 17 levels below me and whales are 13 levels higher than me. My expenses to stay relavant have been consistently 700 per month and in pvp i lose more than i win. The time it takes to grow is rediculous and the cost in game items takes a month or more to just get one lvl higher is your spending. If your not it can take 4 months to get up a level by mid level 30s. Play at your own risk. This game is fun but this game does everything possible to get you to spend. My advice, dont bother. There are other games on computer online with just as much content that is not geared to grab money from the filthy rich.

I play because friends are here..if they weren’t....

In the tips portion of the ad they didn’t mention the terrible rate of refinement to get said Rare materials or even just the Uncommon. Whales always have and advantage but it’s an overwhelming one in this game,
Like grossly. If you don’t spend you won’t really have much of a chance. Scopely also has different rates of these packages resources in the bundles based on age of the server, so choose wisely. The older the server the better your deals will be. Lastly, instead of fixing old issues and improving actual game play they just role out new officers and 1 trick pony ships to lure more whale spending. Just fix some simple things please. Like wording on crew that doesn’t reflect (Djaoki for example)what it actually does...the character skins.. my fed officer in the faction store is from the Blue man group! Klingon crews with no faces...If they actually cared and or catered to the majority of players and gave the majority a chance to take on whales and their alliances, it would drive those who do spend more to continue to do so at a higher rate just to hold the leading edge. This game has potential.. but needs devs that care. It will make money even if you are more generous with your rewards and how people can improve their ships to make it a more fun experience, I promise.

If you want to play for free, you will be punished for it

This game is well designed with amazing detail and intricacies. The opportunity for choosing your own adventure is endless. The entire thing is well done. I’m sure it wasn’t cheap. If you want to play for free or FTP as we are known in the game, you will pay for that in other ways. Scopely designs subtle issues that reek havoc on advancement and fair play. The game is still fun but can get very frustrating when one of these issues pops up. You’ll have to wait, or spend earned credit of some sort, or just sit back and watch while the rest of the (paying) server keeps at it. Or start paying for resources of some kind. A notable issue with this game as well are rogue players who will destroy everything you have worked for, sometimes forcing you to waste assets, or resources that you may have paid actual money for. Scopely sees these folks as a way to make more money as the players who get hit spend money to repair or fix that damage. These clowns will argue with the entire server to justify their stupidity. Ultimately they will end up spoiling the game and there have been many players who have quit because they go unchecked and unstopped. The game is well designed. Be aware that it has a few issues that, when encountered, will cause immense stress and emotion. Play at your own risk.

Wish I could give it 5*

The concept behind the game is fantastic...but there is a very long way to go before it is 5* worthy. The PvP scale is WAY off. That needs to be addressed. Why is there no kind of alliance battle log? There are battle reports per individual, but leadership cannot see what is happening with our members. Why is there no way to check member activity? We have strict standards of activity, but the only way of knowing, is physically seeing a ship in motion, or seeing them in chat. Dead mining nodes are a huge problem. Lack of nodes for the amount of players are another. The uncommon material drops are preposterous for the amount that is required for upgrades and research. Who ever came up with that algorithm should be fired, and someone with half a brain put in their place. I’m at a complete standstill in building and ship upgrades because of this stupid wait time between refining materials, and the insane drop rate of uncommon. Now moving on to the ‘store’. May as well call it the black market. $100, just to be able to get ahead...Seriously ? This game is geared toward those that can afford to drop serious money to make any headway. And is in NO way friendly to those of us that have to work for what we get. Needless to say, there are numerous issues to address before your fan base drops, and business is lost.

Decent game ruined by developer’s optimization for making you pay

I downloaded this game hoping for a nice mobile version of Stellaris in the Star Trek universe and it is a decent version of that, I guess. You get to build and level up a star base and manage and level up your ships and crew. The MMO aspect isn’t terrible, although you seem to get ganked a lot if you leave your ship outside of your station when you’re not logged in.

The problem is that playing it is like watching the home shopping network because you can’t do anything without having to click through a way to pay more money to reduce the pain of progression. Every resource either costs money or is in a random loot box so there is no strategy for resource management other than just keep clicking (unless you want to pay to click less). All the new content is behind battle passes and loot boxes so all you can do to meet your goals is just keep paying.

When I added up all the cost in micro transactions to make this more like a decent PC game, I’d have to pay many multiple times what I’d pay for Stellaris on PC in order to make this game enjoyable. I get that the devs need to make money but I’d much prefer a monthly subscription to a decent game over the constant begging and slot machine mechanics that mobile gaming has become. If I wanted to hang out in a casino I’d go to Vegas.

Great Strategy Game

I’m comparing the game to other strategy games like it, so the 5 stars is relative. There are things I don’t like about it, but comparatively speaking, it’s the best mobile strategy game I’ve ever played. (I’ve spent a lot of time playing Game of War: Fire Age and West Game as well as STFC.)

First, I love Star Trek, so I’m biased right out the gate. Other things I like that separate it from other games: they give enough free peace shields per day if you do all your daily tasks to stay shielded 24/7. There are limits, especially for low level players, on who can attack you. Until you get higher level, only players within 2 levels of you can attack you. You NEVER run out of stuff to do. In fact, the more you play, it can get downright overwhelming how much there is to keep you busy.

That being said, there are downsides. Like other strategy games, it’s impossible to be a top player without spending. There are a lot of f2p players who enjoy the game a lot, and you can do everything, but it just takes A LOT longer. I’m one of those who spends a little, and I’m in the mid-range as far as power. Of course, there are whales who spend thousands who you’ll never be able to compete with. However, my server, and I believe most if not all servers, have player-organized/enforced Rules of Engagement that limit bullying and sheer domination by p2p players.
