Lots of Low Battery Scooters

The Blot app is super easy to use and the scooters are easy to ride once you get accustomed to them. This is the first weekend they are available in Richmond so it was pretty difficult to find one but I think that will calm down after everyone is done trying them out. The two biggest issues I noticed are that if a scooter has a low battery you can’t rent it but it still shows up on the map. There were a ton of scooters near us but all sitting at 14% or less battery and it won’t actually let you ride them when they are low. They should drop off that map is they aren’t available like that, it is really annoying clicking around on 15 nearby scooters to try and find one that is actually available. The map also doesn’t update automatically. When you finally find one nearby that is not on low battery by the time you walk there it has been grabbed by someone else but the map still shows it as available. You just have to keep killing Bolt and reopening it to see the most recent locations. It would be nice for the map to automatically refresh when someone picks up a scooter or at least have a way to manually refresh.

Dangerous — use another service like Lime

Horrible first (and last) experience with this app after many fantastic experiences with Lime, Lyft and Bird. They were incredibly hefty/ heavy, and slow which made them difficult to control and almost made my son(several times) crash into parked cars. It locked up and left both my scooter and my sons scooter in the street on a busy area of Los Angeles with NO WARNING. We had to get off the scooters on the street and they were too heavy for us to lift onto the sidewalk but while we were trying to lift them the speakers on the scooters came on telling us to let go or the police would be called. Outrageous!! Bolt wouldn’t let me end the ride so the time (and charges) racked up while I called this app to talk to someone who did end the ride. While I was on the phone the person kept saying it wasn’t Bolts fault... it somehow wasn’t bolts fault that their scooters shut down in the middle of the road. Outrageous again!!! Very poor service and the scooters are inferior to the other companies we’ve used — don’t use this app for your safety’s sake.

Not fantastic

This is easily the worst of the scooter rental apps. The account creation is a little odd, they put a $5 hold on your card, and most crucially, the scooters they have to rent, at least in my area, seem dangerously unstable when riding.

They’re a weird design where you stand astride the scooter on a pair of wing-like paddles instead of riding it with both feet on a central board like most competitors. This makes for a pretty wobbly ride. Also the scooters have a speedlock such that, if you’re pushing the accelerator and going downhill, the scooter will actually brake in order to ensure that you’re only ever going 10mph. While I’m sure that’s a nice regulatory compliance feature, it makes for a more dangerous ride, in my opinion.

All this aside, I gave two stars because they don’t make you take a picture of your parking job, like most of the competitors do.

Zones Pain in the rear end !!! 🤬

I took a couple of them on for my 19y old son and one for me as an fun open alternative to Uber but the scooters keep shutting down because of zoning. We were on our way from Little Italy to Chicago 360 and we had to detour to Greek Islands or little Greece. So we ended paying more, $5 more that and Uber X and triple the time... by going back to the determining zone we save additional $10 penalties per scooter 🛴. I was fun at the beginning until the shutdown process tarted over 9 times we had to reset the scooters because of the red zone. Very useful for outside the red zone... but be aware were you going before you rent because of the restrictions. For us was a waste of money and time... we ended walking a lot (healthy) and wasting over and hour and half in the deal. Cheers

So much fun! Useful and safe too!

I just moved to Miami and I used a this app over the weekend to check out the area and I found so many cool places that I would have never found by walking not driving. Plus it was so easy rent and I actually felt safer on a this app than any of the other brands. When I came out of a store and noticed my scooter had been rented again, I opened Bolt and located the next closest one and continued on my way! So awesome!

Bolt Richmond

A coworker and I took our virgin rides today on these scooters. Took some getting used to but overall not a bad experience (neither of us had an incident). Unfortunately, my coworker’s scooter had very loose braking - she squeezed the brake to the handle and still had difficulty stopping (not great for Richmond’s downtown hilly geography). My scooter’s kickstand was not able to function - it was jammed against the foot pedal so I was not able to engage it, making it difficult to leave the scooter in a location that was suitably unobtrusive.
Again, overall not a bad experience (we will ride them back to the office), but not going to be consistent users.

A little tricky at first

As I’ve ridden the scooter three times today, I’d say it’s fairly easy once you figure it out. I’ve not had any bank issues other than what it claimed . (Charges that it gives you receipt for and tells you about.) It was less than $3 to go almost 16 blocks. I don’t recommended on streets that are cobblestone or full of potholes - it’s the worst. Other than that. Pretty fun and good so far - it will go 15 mph. (Sounds slow, but it’s not.) Have also not seen what leaving them in red zones people have complained about. I just park it on the sidewalk out of the way.

Good experience all around

I’ve used 3–4 different escooters and their apps many times over the past eight months. this app was easy to set up, I liked the option to use Apple Pay. The scooter was fast and seemed well-engineered.

The only thing I didn’t like about their scooters is one’s stance on the two “paddles”—it just didn’t seem as stable as standing on a single platform. The stance is also more Segway-like (kinda dorky) than with others which seem more fun/sporty. But I’ll still use them, but will be more cautious.

Worst Scooters Around

Watch out for these this app scooters... not only are they the least maintained out of all the scooter companies, there customer service is the worst thing I’ve ever dealt with. On multiple rides I have had to cancel early due to an either unsafe scooter or due to the fact the scooter was down right broken. Their customer service is obviously outsourced and as decentralized as it gets. One representative has no access to prior support calls and when trying to revert back for assistance, they are completely worthless, acting like the scooter rental process is as top secret as the US Government. Never again will I be so dumb to rely on this service as a means of transportation to work. APP DELETED.

You need to change a lot of stuff to be able to compete with other products.

Couple things:
1. If you’re new to a city, you should make the login process as simple as possible. With your competitions, it took me 2 minutes to create an account, confirm it, add a card, and ride. It took absolutely forever to get your app going.

2. Having an auto brake capability at like 10.5 mph was arguably the worst possible thing I’ve ever seen. The fact that you’re breaking for me while I go downhill is terrible. If I want to brake, I’ll use the one on the scooter.

3. You had a typo/bug in your welcome screen. I automatically didn’t create an account for 3 weeks after downloading Bolt because of this.

4. Don’t make me deposit $5 in your app just so I can ride the scooter. I’m linking a card to your app. Just use that money when I finish the ride.

I don’t think I’m ever using this again. I would 100% rather walk for 20 minutes than ride your scooter that wouldn’t get me there in much less time.

Boss ride! Bolt rocks and rolls big with this new enterprise!

Best scooter ride for me and my fiancé ever! We walked to a swimming cliff for an hour and the walk back would have been brutal. But we downloaded this app after seeing a few people ride by and the nearest ones were only 10 min away. Started our ride and rode through Bardstown road like LEGENDS and enjoyed the scenery in the way. Just finished riding and it put a smile on our faces 😊

Map could use help

The scooters themselves are fantastic. Flying in from Seattle, the scooters made a fun way to get around Fort Lauderdale. However, the map does not update frequently enough to be accurate. We had a Lyft take us to the location of 4+ scooters and found none. Meaning we started walking around to find 4 elsewhere. Everyone kept joking that it felt like we were on the amazing race because nothing made sense on the map. We did have tons of fun once found!

Super good for the money and fast

I was tired and had been walking for 20 minutes to my apartment and still had 15 minutes to go I walked past one of these and signed up in like 5 minute and I was so surprised how fast it was I got to where I was going so fast I loved it!

How they calculate time!??? Compare to iPhone timer

This was the first and probably the last time I use this app! There is a huge bug on how they calculate the time!!! I just unlock the scooter and it even didn't work bu they charge and the chat support button didn’t work either! On the other hand the timer show 2 minutes but my phone timer showed less than a minute!!!!!! Im a daily active user of scooters and in my experience lyft is the only fair scooter rental service in the market!!!!
If you have same experience please leave a review and let the others know

Great until the end

I loved riding these scooters with my friends, however, I was a little disappointed at the end of the ride when I tried to lock and pay for my ride, the system kept failing (for the two other people with me also) and ending up continuing to charge me so I had to pay $3 more when I was just trying to lock the scooter. Kind of petty, but still. The call center I called was polite and tried to help, but did not really solve anything.
