Hobi: TV Shows Tracker & Trakt Reviews

Downloaded this to my iPad. Had to start by selecting three programs from among several they listed, none of which interested me, but my opinion did not matter. I had to choose three. Did so, and was then led through several screens where I had to set up a profile. Finally got to the point where I could begin loading data to actually make Hobi useful for me.
At that point I stopped to also put it on my iPhone and found that in order to have it on the second device, I had to go through the identical process. There is no screen that allows you to sign in if you have already set up an account.
If this is a forewarning of actually using Hobi , I am not hopeful it will be worth the effort.

Hobi is beautiful and I thought we had a winner here. I happily paid for Hobi , but after a few days, it is useless. Every show I watch, and try to click on details of the show, gets a spinning wheel and never comes up. I’ve rebooted, nuked Hobi , everything, but still no luck. Now that I have paid, Hobi is completely broken and of no use. At all. Looking around in the web, I see many others complaining of the exact same issue so it’s not just me. No support option, just another broken app I paid money for. That stinks because it is a beautiful and handy app - if it worked.

Seems like a good app, but doesn't always sync the correct episodes from Trakt. Archer season 3, for example: Trakt reports that there are 10 episodes and that I've watched all of them, and Heart of Archness parts 1-3 are listed as specials that I haven't watched (which is correct). this app thinks that Heart of Archness 1-3 are episodes 1-3 of season 3 , and thinks that I've watched those but not the last 3 episodes of season 3. this app clearly knows that I've watched 10 episodes of season 3, but not the right ones. I'm assuming that it's just going by episode number and doesn't look at the episode name at all? This seems like a really nice app, but since I also use the Trakt website directly, I'm a little worried about accuracy when going back and forth between the two.

Air times have been wrong for as long as I’ve used Hobi, despite the recent update claiming a fix, and now Hobi stretches behind the notch and home indicator on recent iPhone models. I happily support Hobi and hope these issues will be addressed in a future update so I can revise my review. Meanwhile I still recommend it, but with lowered expectations for future development and responsiveness when bugs slip through.

This is a great app. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the “My Shows” section of Hobi does not let you remove shows that you are no longer watching. I want to keep an inventory of all the shows I’ve watched, even a record of the shows I’ve dropped, but at the same time if I have dropped a show I don’t want it to keep on appearing in my list. Two examples of long running shows I’d dropped that are still running are “Law & Order: SVU” and “Supernatural”. I dropped both shows awhile back yet annoyingly they still appear on my list.

Anime apps like Kitsu and iMAL, which are used for the same purpose as this app, intelligently includes a feature that allows you to categorize your shows. These categories include:

Watching
Want to Watch
Complete
On Hold
Dropped

I assume the categories are self explanatory. this app desperately needs a system like this to make the list more organized and less cluttered. This way you can focus on what you are truly watching and everything else can be tucked away in a place where they aren’t constantly in your face, but at the same time you can find them again if you need them.

If Hobi had these features it would definitely be 5⭐️

Hobi is gorgeous and after trying pretty much every TV Tracker I want to use this one. It seems to be accurate with my large list of shows and the layout is awesome.

I have a few questions and issues and wanted to reach out to the developer for support, yet when going to the developers website and clicking on support it is not a valid email address. Hoping the developer sees this and will help me with the issues I am having. At that point this is 5 stars!

Notifications do not work and wondering if working on an app badge for the amount of shows I need to watch?

A big flaw for me is that it only shows the time and premiere of a show in its home country and doesn’t adjust for the local time of the user. That’s a huge down side if you watch shows that are extremely popular in the US but may be a British show. For example it says killing eve starts in 10 min but actually it’s not available until Monday night in the US. This may end up causing me to cancel and stop using Hobi. Bummed and it’s a simple tweak to adjust to the local time.

I recently switched to this app from TV Time. The GUI and layout is very clean and user friendly. Overall I like it better. But, there’s room for improvement.

I feel like an important feature is missing.. there’s nowhere to see recently viewed shows/episodes.

Periodically the shows I click on have shows in the wrong seasons or season tabs are missing. The show description & information is also periodically missing.

When I mark an episode as watched and there’s unwatched episodes behind it, there should be an option to also mark those as watched.

There are no trailer links.

The discover tab is very lack luster. I want to be able to click on one of the categories and scroll through more than ten shows. How am I supposed to discover anything new when there’s hardly any shows listed in the genre I like?

The only thing keeping me from a five star review is the lack of undo. Hobi is the best at tracking shows. Much better than the other big ones out there. On a few occasions I have swiped on a show and mistakenly marked it as full watched. I can’t undo that and I have done it without actually seeing which show it was. Would love to get the standard shake to undo.

I used Hobi on my old iPhone 8 Plus and it worked just fine. I just got an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it works just fine except for 1 feature. I am not sure if it is just my phone or not but it is very hard to use the back arrow in the upper left corner of Hobi now that I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max. It very rarely reacted to my using the back arrow. Other than that, Hobi is perfect. Keep it up!

I love that the developer listened to my previous privacy concern and fixed it! Thank you!!

I have only one more wish (I promise!). Can this app also show the special episodes that TV shows have? Many of them are quite good and perhaps, you can make it as a toggle option in settings for people who may/not want it so that we can track those as well. Some other apps do it and so I have to use this app and another Trakt app to manage. I’ll pay for premium if this becomes a feature.

This is a beautiful app! I love the minimal design and Trakt integration. One feature I’d like to see is the ability to sort shows into lists. So for example, a list of shows that I saved/discovered but I’m not ready to start watching or tracking yet. I’d also like to see better recommendations on the individual show pages. Other than that Hobi is awesome. Can you make a movie tracking app too, or add movies into this one??

I am loving this app! I used it when it first came out and while it was great I wasn’t using it day to day. After the recent updates I am loving it! I use it everyday and it’s one of my most useful apps that I recommend to anyone who loves tv!

I would really love if the developer could make a this app for movies but with a separate app so as not to overly bloat the perfect app they have now.

I love Hobi. I’m always forgetting what shows I’ve seen and how much of it I have watched and when it comes back out, this is a great app to keep track of all those, plus getting reminders of when your shows are coming back and when they are about to play. I’d love for them to add a movie tracker :)

I had a bunch of tracking apps connected to Trakt and issues starting popping up all over. Couldn’t add shows. Was locked out for no reason and still cannot get back in, as a paid VIP user. Shows wouldn’t pop up when they aired. Not all new shows would even appear, until months after airing, if at all. Dumped all of them for Hobi. Right now, this is the best tracking app out there. Truly hoping it stays as good as it is now, as I truly need to keep track of everything I watch and want to watch in the future. I hope they keep Hobi going.

Love Hobi to track my favorite shows that I’ve watched and also to not miss out on the next season. Would love a feature where I could connect and share shows with friends! We are constantly texting about the latest must see shows.

After iOS 13 update, this app app stopped working. Contacted the developers and sent screenshots before. Got updates that fixes bugs but Hobi doesn’t work before until i got the recent update today. And now Hobi again started working as normally. I would like to give 5 stars for releasing this update that fixed my issue and thank the developers for the work they’ve done to fix the issue i was having with the this app app. A big thank you. Best tv tracking app.

Hobi is wonderful to keep track of shows you want to watch. It truly is and I stand by my 5 star review. My one gripe is that I enjoy some foreign shows, and when they appear in the tracker, the information available is only for the show’s home county. For example if I add a British show, the channel and premier dates for England are provided, but what I need to know is when it will be available in the US and on what channel. Drives me a bit nuts. Otherwise, perfection!

I have tried out multiple show trackers and this one is my favorite! So far I have found it has a large database of shows, I’ve only come across 1 so far that I couldn’t find on Hobi . I also just like the way Hobi looks.

I do wish you could track your movies. Also, I would really enjoy some more competitive things like the stats page that ranks you amongst the community.

I highly recommend Hobi to anyone & everyone!

I was actually looking into to having something like this built due to it being so difficult to keep up with all the series from different networks and streaming applications. Thank you for building this great app. I use it on a daily basis. It’s so easy so search and add the series that I watch and reminding me when they are about to show. I love it!! Also have recommended it to all my friends and family. Keep up the great work!

Love the fresh look and functionality of Hobi . Wish it offered trakt Integration for movies as well. A bit hefty a price tag for the bells and whistles especially because it only works for tv shows but it’s that good that I’m considering making the lifetime purchase anyway!! Lower the price and it would get 5 stars!!

It’s gonna be my favorite tv show tracking app as soon as it gets mark as watched gesture or button. Right now it takes two taps to mark an episode as watched - that’s unacceptable.
Apart from that I’m completely in love. Switched from TV Time and not coming back. But, dear devs, please add quick marking.

I really love the look and feel of Hobi. All of my shows are available and I can easily keep track of upcoming episodes or the ones I need to watch. I'd love to get a view with top shows sorted by categories in case I run out of shows to watch. Keep up the great work!

I love Hobi! But I’d love the devs to add a quick option like a long press or swipe to Mark all as watched! Currently swiping either way adds the last episode as watched. Sometimes I need a quick way to catch up! Maybe implement long press Haptic Touch options.

I don’t know how I missed Hobi the first time I was looking for a TV tracker app but this is for sure my new one I already bought lifetime haha.

The UI is beautiful 🥺

But It would be cool if we had the option to change the color theme and a rewatch option or something?

I actually got the change to purchase the lifetime premium option for not much. Hobi keeps you updated on new episodes , shows you ratings , has personalized stats and it’s easy if you do not watch series on mainstream services like netflix to keep up with new releasing episodes

If you’re looking for a way to keep track of your shows, know when the next ones coming up, and have someone else keep track of show renewal/cancellation —this is it. Tried a lot, best I found.

One suggestion: While they do say where the show originated (e.g Fox network), they do not show where it is currently streaming. It would be awesome to have a clickable link to current streaming service apps, attached to each show. Even more awesome, if those clickable links connected to your current episode on this app.

I love Hobi it simple and good on the add shows and tracking but please consider adding one more feature :
-add app icon badge what means ( shows the number of unseen episodes over Hobi icon ).. thank you for the best tracker app. Hope you keep working on it.
