DOWNLOAD WORDGRAMS INSTEAD

WORDGRAMS is so much better and you don’t have to pay for boards or have a minimal amount of game boards. It’s so much better than whatever Kryss is trying to be.
This game could be so much better if the developers could get their act together and fix all the issues. Seems they spend the majority of their time selling ads because that’s the only part of Kryss that seems to work properly. I currently have 5 active games and only 1 of them is actually playable because they get stuck in the webisphere and they can never be played again - and if you play this game you know how precious those game boards are. It’s irritating. It’s annoying. It’s frustrating. For an app that has a lot of potential all Kryss does is annoy me. I wouldn’t recommend downloading Kryss unless you want to deal with a lot of nonsense. Like I said, it has a LOT of potential but the constant glitches ruin any enjoyment that could be had from this game. And let’s not even mention the ads because those are constant, on the top of the screen and after every single turn. The ads work seamlessly, not sure why they can’t have that kind of efficiency in the actual game!!!!!

Can’t Find Opponents Anymore

I am SO addicted to this game! I absolutely love it. But sometimes when my opponent decides not to finish a game it shows up a loss for me. This happens even if I am winning (which is usually why my appointment desires to just stop playing. But every time that happens I lose 20 points! Most recently, I lost 29 points. Worse, my opponent gained 29 points. The score was 144(me) to 29(them). So I would’ve won if she hadn’t just stopped playing. This is beyond unfair. I have a friend who had a really high score but then this happened 4 or 5 times in a day. Customer service said that there was nothing they could do. She just deleted Kryss . This is a loss for the game makers as I know she spent a lot of money on game boards. And now players can’t even contact customer service anymore….😡😡😡 UPDATE: I wrote thae above review 2 months ago and it just happened again - 29 points down when my opponent quit playing (didn’t finish the game) and no way to contact customer service. I am also down a bunch of points because of game board errors - letters that aren’t in the game and I lose games b/c of this. I am SO MAD and really sad. I feel like crying right now. I’ve been working so hard to get my score up again. To be fair, the game should reset everyone’s scores to 0 (or whatever the base level is). It isn’t fair that the top player, who probably isn’t playing anymore has a score of 5000+!

Lies about free boards

The game itself is fun, but it states that you will get 10 free game boards if you have a friend sign up, as well as giving them 10 free boards to start. I have sent the link to 2 separate people with no free boards awarded to me, and since they have neglected to give me any, it will not even let me accept the challenges from the friends that used my link to sign up. Very misleading and frustrating while having to wait 24 hours to watch an AD to get 1 board TO PLAY WITH THE PEOPLE THAT SIGNED UP WITH MY INVITATION. Highly dissatisfied with the unkept promises of the game creators.

Update: I am beyond annoyed with this game. The game glitched while I was carrying a letter and it stuck on top of letters that had already been placed, so I was unable to put it back in my queue OR move it on the board. I then took a screenshot to address the issue and it warned me to not screenshot the board, then they SENT A MESSAGE to my opponent stating that I had cheated and compromised the game. If you are considering playing, beware of the misleading information and glitching that is not mentioned in their description. The creators of this game have done a HORRIBLE job on the functioning, and I recommend that NO ONE spends real money on Kryss, you most likely won’t receive or be able to correctly use what you are purchasing.

Kryss

Love this game!! It’s tons of fun when your bored, and challenging enough to keep you interested without being so difficult that you just give up on it!! Player turns are times so your not having to wait for forever on your opponent to make their moves or cheat by looking up the answers!! My only complaint is the cost of the subscriptions/game boards to play the game!! Why not just charge one flat rate to buy the game app and then use it unlimited number of times after purchase?? I refuse to pay for every single game board I play in this or any game app for that matter!! I understand making a profit from your creation of the game but I do not understand, agree with, or support you trying to get rich off this one game app!! So, my advice to other app users, don’t purchase either one of the options they currently have available ((subscriptions/per game board)), just go watch the three videos a day and only play off those free boards you get from watching the videos and that’s it!! That’s what I do and honestly I wouldn’t mind purchasing this game app if it were a one time fee type deal but since that isn’t an option I refuse to pay the developers any money to play this game!!

Great Game Until the Recent Update(s)

I love your game! I have played with friends and random opponents. I love both the long form of the game and the more head-to-head competitive quick version of the game. However you get a low rating due to your latest update. Your addition of advertisements have ruined Kryss. It continually crashes in the middle of games, just stops responding in the middle of games, and takes forever to load. Today while playing a quick form head to head match, the game never came back after one of your new ads played. I was worried the game would automatically forfeit me because I had to leave. I had to completely close Kryss (double click the home button and remove it from the recent app list) and was concerned that by leaving it in that manner, it would automatically end of the game giving the win to my opponent. Apparently you don’t understand the concept of completely testing new versions before releasing them on the unsuspecting public. I am hoping you release a new update soon that addresses these issues. Until then I warn people that if they are going to install Kryss that you do not play quick forms of the game or you will risk your game being forfeited due to Kryss crashing.

Fun but not so much…

Fun? I love the concept because I like word games and crosswords and this one is somewhat challenging.
Not so much: where to begin… 1. Quit with the ADS already! This game has more ads than any other game I play. I don’t mind paying a small fee for no ads but I will not pay a monthly subscription - EVER. I had a bonus when I first started that removed the ads for 48hours, the game was much more interesting. 2. Play with a random player - I’ve tried this twice, I had no idea they had up to 72 hours to make a play, so I’m supposed to wait until they are ready to play? I tried the quick version, not a fan. So I’ve been playin prof this app, but I don’t get a rating even when I win. The quick version isn’t quick either because there are twice as many ads, and half the time I had to close Kryss and restart to get the ad to close. 3. Invite a friend??? I would consider only if the game didn’t have so many problems. 4. The game constantly freezes, this only happens with a few of the games i play, ironically it’s with the ones with the most ads. What started out as a fun game has quickly turned into a pain in the a—. :(

Great Game, Poor Quality

The game itself is super fun but the overall quality of everything else is horrible. The game CONSTANTLY lags or freezes, sometimes for the duration of my turn causing me to lose out on points. That is probably the worst part of it. I cannot stress enough how badly it lags and freezes. Also, once you run through all your free boards upon initially downloading the game, the only way to play is watching an ad. Which is fine. But then there’s even more ads during your turn which takes from game play and is just annoying. If I’m watching an ad to play a board, I would prefer not to watch 3-5 (or more depending on the length of the round) more during the round! Even more, you only get 10 coins for winning a round. It’d be nice if the number of coins awarded were based on how many points you score, winning by bigger scores equaling more coins. Because then it takes 10 wins to purchase 1 board game if you don’t subscribe. That’s also frustrating. Then I just accept to watching the ads but again, because they’re so frequent, it’s annoying. I love the game, but the lagging/freezing and constant advertisements is making me consider just deleting it.

Could be so much better

I really like the concept of this game, but it has so many issues. First off, it’s buggy. It constantly has issues, it gets my phone VERY hot very quickly, it crashes a lot, it just generally does not run well. Another issue is that there is no way to start a new game unless you either pay or watch an ad. It would be nice if you could do something to earn games. I’m so tired of games that you have to pay a small fortune to play or it just isn’t as fun or super obnoxious because it’s nothing but watching ads. Not only do you have to watch an ad to start a new game, it makes you watch ads after many of your turns. I honestly refuse to pay ANY money on apps that are that greedy. If an app has options to reduce/remove ads by paying a one time fee, I’m much more willing to spend money on Kryss in other ways, as long as it’s not outrageous pricing like so many other phone games. It’s absolutely ridiculous the amount of money games like this ask you to pay to make the game enjoyable. I could pay $60-$70 on a PlayStation game with incredible graphics and a beautiful storyline and play-through and then some stupid phone app asks me to pay $99 for gems, or boards, or whatever form of currency they’re using in the game that will be gone in a matter of a week. It’s ridiculous. Don’t waste your time or money with this game. Find a better one that runs better and doesn’t ask you to sell your first born child to play it.

A good game, BUT

Does anyone play this game??? It’s a great game BUT the way you have it set up, no one can play the game for any period of time because you get locked out due to not enough games available. I get that you need to run ads but not everyone wants to pay $$$/month to play a game without ads. And when you run out of games, there is NO WAY to get more coins so we can play more games. I’ve been waiting about a month for the system to automatically allow me more coins so I can play again, and that “ain’t happening”. Very annoying and frustrating. If you really want more players, and if you really want to know which game out there “does it right”, then I suggest you look at the games called “Infinity 8 ball”. They have so many ways to win coins and gems so you can keep playing. I play it all the time, and I choose not to pay $$$, but some don’t mind it because it’s a great game. We understand ads so you can make money, but the way you are doing it is not beneficial to you or us. Take some advice…change the way you are allowing people to play more games…

Great game concept, just needs to iron out the bugs

From a developer:
First off for those wondering why we need to pay for game boards: the reason is because they hand created each game board, therefore it takes more time and energy to create them. Whereas on the other hand, if they used an algorithm to create the game board uniquely each time (which is possible) then you could have infinite game boards. It would be a very hard tasks which they are probably tackling right now, and theyre selling the hand made game boards to substitute until then.
Now the biggest problem, this game has a few bugs which do hinder gameplay. The game itself is really fun, challenging, engaging, and more. But when the bugs occur it makes you want to not play or even delete it, which is what I just did. On multiple occasions the other player wouldnt complete their turn or the game would glitch and they would be UNABLE to complete their turn. Because of this I would completely lose one of my game boards, forever. The stats they offer are cool but dont work completely. Id like to redownload this game again in the future but for now im done.

Good game with Enhancements Needed

First and foremost, I really like this game. It is fun and helps relieve stress at the end of the day. I can see how the game would be addictive, except for the fact you have to pay for everything. I am not one of those people that thinks games should be free, but there are things that I feel like should be a one time purchase. Free ads for one. Buying the full version of the game for 2. The developers only give you so many game boards before you have to buy more and you don’t earn enough coins to rematch your opponents after a few days. You can only get rid of ads by paying a monthly fee. I enjoy a lot of different games on the iPad if I paid monthly to get rid of ads for all of them it would be like paying a utility bill every month and this is not a need, it is a want. I can’t see investing a large amount of money in games.

I almost forgot to mention one major bug. Your game doesn’t transfer from your iPad to your phone. It doesn’t connect to Game Center but forces you to sign in to Facebook. When you sign in to Facebook, you can’t sign into Facebook on your other device.

Why make it hard for players to play?

The strangest thing about this game is the fact that it’s actually difficult to get a bunch of games going. You know, in Words with Friends, you can play all day. You just keep inviting random people and there’s never a limit. This game limits how many games you can play. Well, it’s actually the game boards you have to earn. I couldn’t believe the first time I played — I was just getting started and it said I was out of game boards. I had to watch a video to get ONE game board. It’s crazy. Then, in case you have some extra time and want to watch a bunch of videos so you can get more game boards, you can only watch three. It’s exactly the opposite of what a game developer should be doing. Seems the goal would be to get the player to stick with the game, keep playing, get lots of boards. But to have to watch an entire video to get one game board — and then having to watch videos between moves — it’s insane. I would never have hung in there if a friend hadn’t kept at me. I would have deleted Kryss and that would have been the end of it.

If you can manage to not delete Kryss out of frustration, it’s actually kind of fun. A little strange because some of clues are downright absurd. There are weird drawings and clues to acronyms that don’t really exist. But if these folks can stop with the dumb policy to make us watch all those videos, I’m sure they’ll be more successful.

The game itself is great but...

I actually really really love this game; however, it’s been locking up lately and the only way I can get it to work again is to close Kryss completely and then open it from the start again. It’s a work around but it’s very very annoying.

Also, I think that the freebie boards should be more often/more than 3/day. If not, the price of the boards should be a little more generous. It’s easy to fly through those (after all it can be a very quick game...over in just a few minutes if both parties are playing). I also realized after starting that whether you send a game request or receive one, you get charged a board. That doesn’t make sense to me. It should be if you initiate the game you get charged, but if your opponent initiates, they get charged. As I said the games don’t usually last that long and you blow through them quickly.

When I choose a game to play, I focus on that game. After I spend my budget, I fill in with other games, but often I lose focus on that game and focus on others if I feel there is more value. I love your game so please please give the players more value for playing it!

Go get crosswords!! Same game but cheaper to play!

The owner of Kryss should be dubbed the king of greed! This game is amazing, I love playing it. However I do not love the bait and hook the owner has set as a trap. The mere 4 or 5 boards he starts the new player out with, quickly run out because each play consumes one board!! Even if you win! I don't thinks it is fair that you use up boards even if you win. It should be replaced for free when you win! Also don't expect to-be rewarded every day you come back, cause that doesn't happen either. And don't think that you can win one game and make enough to buy more boards! Nope, the only way you can earn boards for free is by watching the overly annoying ads which are longer and worse than the other games. Or of course you may use your own money to buy the ridiculously gouged prices the owner has set up for them. Outrageous and greedy!I am not rich or I would have other things to do besides play this over priced game! Not much choice though when you disabled with a very small fixed income, I guess it is time to delete it and go on. Oh well someone else will come out with the cheaper version. Ill wait for them

Too expensive for a “free” game

I have seen a lot of people using this app but saying that the boards are too expensive. They say they are stuck with this game because there’s no other game like it out there so they just deal with the lack of free game boards or the high cost of them. I agree with that. It’s a great and fun game but the cost is way too high. What you have here are greedy devs. They could easily get a buck from me every month if they would come up with a cheaper option but I suppose they’d rather just have me not play.

Well, LOOK HERE PEOPLE, if you’re looking for similar games, check out WordGrams. Same gameplay idea and it doesn’t cost as much. It does have a monthly remove ads option but it doesn’t use the idea of “game boards” like this app does. That’s something that kills this game.

Like many others have said, the prices are way too expensive. The cost of game boards, the cost of a premium subscription… too much money. Even choosing the year round billing option brings it to about $4. Disney+ is $8 a month and there’s a lot more value there than in paying for just this one game. I’d pay a buck a month for this. And the developers would be wise to offer that type of plan because they’d at least be getting SOMETHING whereas right now they’re getting nothing.

A fantastic game with some major issues

I love this game and it’s clear how much work went into creating it. It is so original, captivating, and challenging. However, the game board aspect of the game pretty much ruins it for me. Even with the new update where you can earn coins to get game boards, you can never earn enough game boards to not be annoyed by the lack of game boards. I run out every day. One game board costs way too many coins when you only earn ten coins for winning (and don’t earn extra coins for playing on expert) and you can only play three games a day, four if you have enough coins saved up. It would take an astronomical number of games to be able to afford ten game boards with coins when you can only earn 30-40 coins a day if you win all games. It’s not a good system and taints an otherwise fantastic game.

You should definitely be able to watch more than three ads to earn game boards in a 24 hour period, and it would be great if you had three game boards that regenerate automatically over maybe an eight or twelve hour period. Other games offer similar rewards to game boards for completing tasks such as browsing a website, downloading an app, or watching a longer video, maybe you could do something like that?

Please fix the game board issue! We’re gettin weary out here!

Great concept, definitely a money pit.

I love the game in itself. There isn’t many crossword or word games out there like this. However, if you want to play more than 3 games a day you’ll have to pay money. You can watch 3 ads every 24 hours for 3 game boards, after that you have to either use coins, which you win 2-10 coins per game depending on whether or not you win, and to buy a single game board is 90 coins. So you’d have to win roughly 9 games over the course of 3 days to win ONE game. To pay to play is not cheap and not for nothing but you have to watch ads in between turns when you’re playing the game. So they are making tons of money off of ads alone let alone people who really enjoy this game who just want to play. It will cost you 5 dollars just to play 10 games. It’s quite ridiculous and I’ve never seen such an expensive game with so many ads before. I’ll probably delete Kryss as there are free games like this out there where you can sit and binge play on a rainy day without spending a lot of money. The creators should consider offering a monthly subscription or changing the price of a single game board.

Fun game, bad everything else.

This game is really fun despite some of the words being things that most people wouldn't know unless you googled it. However, the "game board" aspect of it is stupid, especially when I don't get any boards back for someone resigning or for a game ending. I thought my starter 10 boards meant I could only have 10 games in progress at a time, but nope. 10 games ever, unless you watch ads or pay for more. The stats are useless as well. I had multiple games end because my opponents never played, except ALL of the games claimed that I forfeited, and I lost points for it. After a game ends, it tells you your stats and how many points you lost for losing, however even though the number displayed at the end of the game isn't 1500, when I try to look at my stats/the leaderboard, it shows that my score is 1500. It has never changed. The game is fun and I think that is what's important and that's why I gave it 4 stars and not lower. I don't necessarily care about the stats but I just found it frustrating and it should be fixed regardless.

Too few boards to play but fun

Boards don’t get replenished daily, and you can only earn 3 by watching ads in a 24 hour period. This is a timed turn game; each turn in max one minute. I wish there was a way to pause your turn, as sometimes you need to attend to another task (maybe you have a kid that lit the house on fire, or a kitten that is chasing your bird, or a spouse stealing your chips). I’d rather play the computer than a random opponent.

The game is a scrabble shaped full in the blanks based on tiny clues along the edges. You can pinch to zoom a little but not much. I will put in letter tiles, then use the remaining time guessing the other words rather than end my turn early. At least until I know them all. Timing the turn ads a bit of pressure, and a little exhilaration which is weird for a word game, but enjoyable. I do like it.

What I REALLY dislike is the ad that comes up asks my name prior to playing the ad. It will never progress until I answer the question, which is invasive IMHO. So, I shut the game down.

Used to be fun

My wife and I have been playing Kriss over a year. We pay for game boards, and for ad free play. In the past several months, the bugs have made the game more of a hassle than enjoyable. The game “lost” my wife’s account a few months ago. She had a couple hundred purchased game boards and the game signed her out. She tried several times to log back in but the game couldn’t locate her account. She ended up making a new account, but had to buy new game boards. Recently, it logged her back into her old account. Several nights we weren’t able to play because of bugs not letting us open games, or touch screen wouldn’t work…… or you’d play a hand only to have your points and letters missing and erased… I’m not spending another dime on this game and will delete it after I’ve used all of my purchased game boards. Do not download, and if you do, don’t spend your money here. Find another crossword game to play. This one is junk!

Features

Kryss has the element of randomly awarded letters in common with a classic game like Scrabble and other word games.

The turn-based game is developed from the idea of transforming the traditional crossword solution - oldschool Scandinavian style - into a game where you compete against each other in the same crossword puzzle.

Kryss is the new, highly addictive game that lets two players test each other's imagination and vocabulary.

It is pure yoga for the brain, meditation for the mind, vocabulary training in a game, all the while being so easily accessible that it is loads of fun for both young and old.

There are several ways of outscoring your opponent, including a significant bonuses for completing words, for getting key letters right or for using all your five letters within a round.
