Baited and switched!

I purchased the trainers kit back at the end of May based on the advertisements for soccer based activities that were included free in BlazePod . After a delay in shipping and getting around to setting the pods up for the start of soccer season (mid to late June), I find that all the content promised is now at an additional membership cost.

I reached out to the customer service to see what they would do about it and they told me all of the previous content is still free. It’s not. I can only customize one activity (reaction time) and have a small handful of activities to choose from. None of them are soccer related.

The real salt in the wound is that I paid more for the kit than they are selling them now with a membership. In fact, the kit I purchased is no longer available on there website where I purchased them.

I get the membership if you are using these in a commercial setting as a trainer. I am a volunteer soccer coach trying to bring something cool to help the kids improve. I am not making money using these.

TLDR:
Purchased kit just before they announced “membership”. Paid premium and now have reduced functionality. this app response is “too bad, so sad”

The upside is the hardware is good quality. BlazePod seems to function well, but has very limited content without paying out 150+ yearly for membership.

Buyer beware! Requires paid subscription!

Had no idea we were buying extremely expensive pods that then require a $10/mo subscription to really use. There’s a few free activities but any customization and/or most of the pre-programmed activities require the subscription. Disappointed. Buyer beware!

Was great at first and now is JUNK….

When my PT brought these out to work at balance after my 2nd brain stem surgery and both sides of balance nerve cut in both surgeries while standing on a foam mat these pods were challenging but awesome. The redid their store and took out the bundles instead you have to buy everything separate which ends up costing more. They then changed their app to where you have to pay $150 yrly to access preset routines and create your own. You already spend a good amount for the pods to only realize you have to dump $150 yearly to utilize routines. I could understand adding extra features in BlazePod that are in app premiums that you pay for like the majority of apps offer!

Can’t save custom workouts without subscription

Can’t even make your own workouts and save them. Paid for an expensive hardware only to be limited by a costly subscription that locks out what I think should be a basic feature.

Constant issues & limited content and usage ability

The pods constantly disconnect. They’ll connect in your own him but if you’re at a gym, training facility, park, it will be a struggle to get them to work.

The company offers no concern or solution for this.

Most of the content you have to pay for and you can’t create your own programa without paying. And it’s not a one time payment, it’s annual.

This is basically a really expensive, useless Simon Says game that you can only use if you pay even more money annually.

Some of the features that were part of the kit are now membership

That’s pretty awful when they sell you on a product and after you buy it, they’ve removed the features and now you have to buy a membership to use it.
Greed is evil.

Bait and switch 😞… But still good app

I don’t like apps that give you features, but then begin charging for those features that had been included. It’s like they don’t believe their app has any more room to grow, so they have to charge. It’s not like the Blazepods are cheap and they need to make money off BlazePod .

I give BlazePod two stars, because it’s still great, but I am seriously disappointed in their decision to make previously included features into a membership. I’m all for subscription services, but there are tons of ways they can improve on BlazePod and then charge to get access to new features, not charge for old ones that they had been included.

Thumbs down

Very limited options in BlazePod without having to make a lot of purchases. Not worth it in my humble opinion, the subscription or the product.

All pay no play

So with the “exciting” release of your new app update with the shiny new subscription, all of the previously free content (why I bought them) AND the ability to make ANY custom programs (essential to making this a training tool at all) is now an annual $150 on top of the cost of the product? I could see making extra content a purchase, but even locking the ability to make your own programs at all and having basically only three or four that you can access is a pure money grab. Particularly making this static content a subscription. I will be returning the $600 equipment that I can’t use (without paying $150/annum) for anything more than I could use a child’s light up Simon toy for. Shameful predatory practices. And it’s really unfortunate too, the equipment works very well.

Disappointed

I think it’s lame how expensive these are but then you have an app that makes you pay monthly for the “pro” version of even being able to use these. I absolutely do not like when companies show you things in a paid version to trick you to buy in order to use the “full amount”. These are already really expensive. I bought these without having to pay to use features in BlazePod and then they changed it so the full app use is now a monthly fee. Lame. Should be fully free app use with the purchase, as it was advertised to me previously.

Need better customization

Would like to see the following:

- Per step customization of hit or timeout to simulate dodging, slipping, and other defensive moves in a boxing type exercise.
- Ability to omit step from the statistics (see above. i.e. step is a dodge or slip)
- Ability to share/publish workouts.
