Trash doesn’t even come close to describing this app

The most nonsense app in existence. Gives you zero feedback as to what you’re doing wrong, so there’s no means to actually improve on your score and what you’re “doing wrong”. Theres zero warning or sounds to give you any sort of heads up that you’re breaking one of the rules, so there’s absolutely zero adjustment period to trying and understand MentorDSP anf what it excepts. It’s just a hope and a prayer that while you’re driving for hours on end that you’re following the most vague and mystical rules that are ementor. There’s no place you can read up on what quantifies as “hard acceleration” and it gives zero regard for other drivers on the road. If you’re pulling out of a driveway on a hill and cannot see any on coming traffic, welp just keep on accelerating at snail speed, so your score isn’t hurt. And just hope and pray the guy YOU just pulled out in front of slows down or passes you. Because according to this trash app, that’s good driving, because you didn’t accelerate too quickly. 👍🏼 oh and if some thing jumps out in front of you, definitely don’t instantly break, because you’re a bad breaker then.
Obsolete and dangerous

Over 1000 reviews and it has one star. That speaks volumes. MentorDSP is terrible. If you have it running while you’re at the station sometimes it will pop you for hard acceleration and hard braking at the same moment.
They also use the wrong method to determine acceleration. Did these people even pass middle school? They use RPMs instead of change in velocity/change in time!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! So of course, it’s super hard to keep a perfect score unless you drive so slow that you’re holding up traffic—especially on hills. Some roads you can’t even enter traffic unless you cut somebody off because you can’t rev too high. This has the opposite effect to what was intended—it actually makes it more dangerous than if MentorDSP never existed.

Totally agree with the previous review. When someone jumps on the road or comes out of nowhere and you have to hit the brake MentorDSP detects hard breaking and we lose points. That’s defensive driving no? Or we just hit the person or car? I deliver packages and you have to read notes on MentorDSP for gate codes and instructions and MentorDSP detects that as phone manipulation and there goes my points down the drain! Also I had to deliver at a rural residence this weekend which was down at a steep hill so I had to shift the gear down to 1 while coming back up, and guess what due to the rpm increase I lost points!!!! This is ridiculous!
Terribly inaccurate and unfair

Drivers shouldn’t be penalized for something such as Hard Braking, when more times than not it is an unavoidable action caused by another driver’s carelessness. Or how about Hard Acceleration, when merging onto a highway or turning onto a busy street we’re basically forced to choose between hitting the gas NORMALLY even though it’ll register as a Hard Acceleration, or an extremely slow turn/merge to avoid a Hard Acceleration which in itself is unsafe and can easily cause an accident. Such a poorly designed app and it’a ridiculously unfair that DSP’s use this to score drivers and will dock their pay if it doesn’t meet certain criteria.
I’ve been a driver for 8 months now. I can attest MentorDSP doesn’t actually make you drive safe. It, to its core, is a beleaguering mess almost expressly meant unfairly to rob you of any benefits. (The big company named after the river in Brazil) should drop this. The scoring system is haggard beyond believe. There are times where in a full days work I was tacked with a whooping 13 infractions (no speeding) and received 3 stars, while one day I got just 4 (again no speeding) and was slammed with a 1 star rating (just like all your the reviews for MentorDSP). This company is desperately asking for a lawsuit, you are toying with peoples jobs and this is serious. Clearly Mentor are either oblivious, malicious, or apathetic. I think it’s a fantastic idea to have the CEO of mentor try and complete a route and end up without any infractions, and see how it turns out. Alas, writing this was a huge waste of time (mainly venting) I expect nothing to change and for this company to completely step all over driver’s necks for the foreseeable future. I recommend working for a competitor, a shame because I happened to actually kind of like this job, oh well. Good day.

2-3 hard acceleration \merging on highway you loose significant amount of points... Speeding needs work people honk get mad at you for driving 25 on 25 where the rest of the people just go around 35 so you get tailgated all the time .. hard stops are ridiculously sensitive no one slows down that slow .driving on highway on 55 speed limit everyone goes 60-65 you cause ppl to switch lane behind you so we basically become the cause of accidents and traffic cuz ppl constantly go around . If there was a way to rate it no star or report app I’d do it no hesitation because MentorDSP is so bad .. it mentors you to be a senior citizen who doesn’t know what they want to do on the road same ppl who causes accidents all the time
Terrible app

Latest update constantly crashes on iPhone. What is a”hard braking” and “hard acceleration” and “hard cornering”? Maybe in a small town MentorDSP would give favorable results, but in an actual large city you have far greater chances of being hit by other drivers, hence a “hard cornering” to avoid being rear-ended. Or you have to dart into traffic on a busy thoroughfare causing a “hard acceleration”. Or maybe the idiot in the lane next to you decides to switch lanes without looking to see if the lane is occupied, maybe a “hard braking”? The real world is very different than a “training “ video. Taking evasive measures and voiding potential accidents caused by other careless drivers should not penalize the drivers using MentorDSP.
Horrible and I highly recommend companies stop using it

So MentorDSP is extremely flawed and unfortunately the company I work for uses it and my my paychecks revolve around it. Sadly it strikes you for things not only that you have no control over but MentorDSP it’s self is suuuuper broken. I drive the company vehicle the same way everyday and for some reason when I’m doing routs in the country it drops my Fico score dramatically. The roads here in Oklahoma are horrible to say the least but especially in rural areas and the fact that I’m constantly braking and going up and down gravel hills i have to drive extremely careful and slow and it still strikes me for acceleration almost every time...
Horrible Customer Service

I agree with the other review. I use MentorDSP with a dsp and your score is supposed to increase when you have a good day and it has not. I also have had enough of the developers saying that the fault is with the device in the car not theirs. This is not correct and they refuse to acknowledge this and wont correct your score. They also only give you scripted responses as well and doesn’t answer anything you asked. I wish their was a better system in place to correct this or eliminate this system from driving because it doesn’t do anything else but give headaches to drivers and the dsp’s who have to deal with the horrible customer service and can’t even appeal anything.
I’m not the review type, but I’ve been emailing these peoples “support” line for the last few days just trying to get an answer that isn’t just buried in technical jargon.
Delivery groups, please use something else, especially if you base your pay/bonus’ off a driving app. There’s no way for drivers to report occurrences to the system so they aren't flagged for “Hard Braking” because they had to stop and not run over a child, pet, or reckless driver, no system to say “hey my device fell off the mount, don’t flag me for braking hard”. Heaven forbid you drive a different van than the one you drove the day before and the pedal tension gives it more gas than you expected, error Hard acceleration -50 points.
It’s so easy to lose points on MentorDSP, and so hard to gain them back, but the company will tell you it’s all “averaged” in at the end of the week when it seems to more be at their whimsy.
Also this company considers a good driving score to be 710 points, but most delivery groups want you to have 800+. Which means a huge disconnect when you’re trying to get help from support.

My company is “cracking down” on bad drivers. I drive the same careful pace everyday and am hit with multiple “phone manipulations” on bumpy country roads, “speeding” where MentorDSP doesn’t have the correct mph data, and “hard braking” on highways and busy streets where I hadn’t even stopped. These are only to name a few. I was told by my own boss “sorry, some of our phones give people worse scores than others” clearly admitting that it is not the driver but the device yet threats are held above our heads if our scores drop too low. I hope a class action lawsuit is put into place sooner than later for this FRAUDULENT JOKE of a company.
Almost always above 800 score, but yes, this app is trash

Our DSP manager and dispatch are all aware of just how inaccurate MentorDSP is. And it’s true, it not only marks you down for things that never happened, it will bring you down dozens of points for just ONE infraction. God help you if you get more than one because you’re looking at an immediate drop of 70 points or more. Ohh but then you go two or three days completely incident free? That should fix it right? No. You get less than 10 points per perfect day. It’s absolutely ridiculous. MentorDSP is so faulty it almost feels rigged. And by the way, 99% of the time I end up with an 800+ score at the end of every bonus cycle and I’m telling you this. Yeah, MentorDSP is trash and even the companies that use it, know it.

This is a terrible app that is very likely a violation of privacy for those that are compelled to use it for their jobs (delivery drivers for a company named after a large river in South America). MentorDSP doesn’t work properly unless you “allow” it to access your phone at all times, even though you are told it’s only assessing your driving when you’re working. DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT??
MentorDSP monitors your driving habits, even when you’re not driving. Yes, read that again. I was penalized for using my phone while I was on my lunch break, and while I was in the vehicle, the vehicle had not been moving for over 10 minutes at the time. If MentorDSP can monitor your acceleration, braking, turning, etc., surely it can tell when you’re NOT GOING ANYWHERE! This is absurd!
I should note that my driving score is consistently 850. I’m assessed as an excellent driver, and I still think MentorDSP is GARBAGE.

I am really disappointed in MentorDSP , but at the same time if I want to be a better driver. MentorDSP is too sensitive in some cases, if you keep your foot on the pedal and you’re going 65 then you’re going up in Mountain high keep your foot on the pedal then the engine size to stay with your 65 and the RPM scores over that’s considered speeding. Reversing you can’t avoid reversing, I can’t see were you can’t reverse in a safe matter and get dinged for it what does it make sense. If I don’t use my phone while I’m driving and I take a break and I’ll start and this is over 30 minutes how is it possible that I’m using my phone while I’m driving. I don’t get how place of employment trust MentorDSP over the employee. I can seeThat all employees are not the same but trying to keep a score of 800 and above and believe me I do have patients took my time. I think it shouldn’t cost of your job and they should lower the score to 750. If you dispute they really don’t care
Getting marked for hard braking or acceleration is a joke. These vans a decent acceleration made so you can get up to speed on highways and so on if needed. What MentorDSP does is cause fear. Let me say that again. MentorDSP CAUSES FEAR. I’m constantly scared that I may brake too hard if someone cuts me off or some hazard appears in front of me. I’m constantly afraid to step on the gas and get up to speed on roads with oncoming traffic because of getting marked down for hard acceleration. I risk getting in accidents because of the way MentorDSP forces me to drive is how I feel. I should be able to pull out on a highway and use a normal amount of acceleration to get up to speed. Who knows what where you cross the line? I certainly don’t know where the line is drawn. I drive the van all day scared. You can get fired for low scores. Another thing, I can’t touch the phone device at all while moving in the van. One touch and you get marked down. We need a separate device, perhaps something built in to the van. Not a single phone to use for navigation and this ignorant app. Or company provides some extra devices but not enough for everyone. I can’t wait for MentorDSP to get sued and get scrapped. We need some kind of warning to pop up so we can learn what is hard braking. Some kind of meter we can see. What is hard acceleration.. what is too much? Where is the line drawn? We don’t know. I’m certainly tired of dealing with this bull..

Perhaps the creator of MentorDSP should be sued . I agree with the person about people jumping in front of you last minute .. that causes you to break hard no? Maybe instead of breaking hard we should just blow into the person that gets in front of us instead of avoiding an accident. Also agree about the rpms going over 3000 and you get hit .. on my route I have to go up so steep hills and guess what as soon as that transmission down shifts to climb the hill I’m losing points !! And let me tell you after MentorDSP update it’s gotten worse ! This week alone I’ve gone from 813 to 755!!! MentorDSP has given me nightmares! That’s the first thing I check in the morning before work ! Wondering if I’ll have a job from inaccuracy! You have one average day and lose 40 points ! MentorDSP is a joke ! I have drive sense with esurance running on my phone and gets a total different reading ! Stop causing people stress and job loss and fix your app ! Because one day you will get sued

Doubt anyone who actually works here reads this and all the responses are automated. But if there’s a chance this is a real human reading, just know your app is immoral and affecting how we are all paid. I’m looking forward to lawsuits against your company. Heads up for anyone new to MentorDSP, it just detects hard cornering, hard acceleration, hard braking, and speeding. So it DOES NOT detect how other people are driving. Someone brake hard in front of you? Tough luck you got hard braking and are out of incentive pay, goodbye score. Someone brake hard and you have the ability to avoid an accident by turning away from them? Tough luck you just got hard cornering, and probably acceleration, goodbye FICO score. Someone not paying attention behind you and is tailgating/ speeding/ about to rear end you? Congrats, you just got hard acceleration/ speeding and lost out on potentially hours of pay. Everyone who works at Mentor, get a real job. Also, increasing our FICO score does not make us “safer drivers”, it literally just increases a score that you made up the metrics for. Stop using that as an excuse for keeping MentorDSP alive, it’s pathetic.

My Dsp has a dash cam. I’ve proven to them I’ve never looked at my phone not once during the times it said I did. Even when I turned the van off I still didn’t look at my phone. Another thing I can’t find an explanation to is, what is a “fast start distraction”? There’s no explanation for it and I was hit twice for it. I’m assuming it’s me moving as soon as I turn the van on? From seat belts to phone distractions. Honestly the only thing I found accurate was the reverses because my dsp doesn’t want us to reverse. So I get 10-15 is accurate. Everything else is a joke. Your app is costing me a route bonus on some days hitting me for hard braking but you don’t see on a highway when someone jumps into your lane too suddenly. Or when your going up a hill and rev the RPMs passed 3000 and get a ridiculous amount of points taken off is insane. We

So after studying how mentor works via emailing support, and using the FAQS section. MentorDSP is hardly a hindrance while delivering wether I’m in the mountains or gravel roads or icy roads. I’m always at 850. I’ve even used different phone from apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 8, galaxy s20, galaxy note, the Samsung a20, old caterpillar phones. Once you understand the ins and outs of MentorDSP getting 850 is a walk in the park and no you don’t have to drive like a grandma just drive the speed limit. Not gonna lie a lot of people are just terrible drivers without you guys knowing, getting an 850 and finishing a route faster than the allotted time is not a problem on a daily. I work 6 days a week and get 850. Just check your driving habits and don’t let your ego get in the way of that. JUST HAVE PAITENCE!
I have never been a delivery driver in my life, nor have I driven an extended cargo van. I have been able to hold a perfect 850 driving score with ease. Coming from a teaching background, almost all these reviews are placing driver error on MentorDSP . Sure, I’m sure there are some instances where a sensor is tripped accidentally, as it has happened to me. It has logged a seat belt violation once when I never even turn the engine on without already being buckled. It’s logged a phone manipulation as I have gone slowly over some rough terrain. The point is, the amount of errors that can be associated to MentorDSP is so minuscule, it should not significantly affect your driving score. Slow down, anticipate traffic and turning, take your time accelerating, BE RESPONSIBLE! I drive in very hilly terrain and the RPM often goes well over 3,000 RPM and I haven’t received a single hard acceleration. Take your job seriously and be safe! You should not drive whatever vehicle you operate at work like your personal one.
Garbage App

MentorDSP is beyond garbage. The inaccuracy is ridiculous, I have been hit for making outgoing calls while the van was parked, engine off and to top it off, I was inside Canes for lunch eating which means I’m several feet away from the van but it still registers me as being in the van. I have been told that this is impossible because MentorDSP tracks the van movement. False, MentorDSP has flaw after flaw after flaw. MentorDSP needs to be dismantled and rebuilt with a more accurate system if they want to manage the drivers.

Why does this keep saying phone distractions I don’t touch the phone, the cradle, I dint adjust the volume nothing while driving. I wait till I’m in park to touch the phone yet it’ll still says phone distraction. Also accelerating it says accelerating when I wasn’t. Please fix the issues

MentorDSP is seriously flawed . Phone distractions go off for bumps in the road. Reversing is not dangerous and is part of driving. Scores are unreliable and inconsistent . MentorDSP can cause disciplinary action for my job but MentorDSP is ridiculous. Don’t put out an app when you can’t accurately collect the right data. Shame on you!!!!! 😡😡😡😡

by Masonj03
I get phone manipulations driving straight down a street going 20 mph or walking to a house. It is absolutely impossible to deliver packages and not go in reverse!! I guess we never ever deliver to people on dead end streets or houses with a long drive of the street?? I also went from zero seat belt hits one day ( because I wear it ) to 230 negative hits against me the next day. Several times 3 or 4 times in the same minute..
Just because some woman can’t reverse safely doesn’t mean that a professional driver can’t. Smh it makes me look so bad, a lot of the routes it shows aren’t even possible without an ATV, so when you hit a dead end MentorDSP says is a street what else can you do? Also a lot of addresses require you to reverse into them, otherwise you’ve got a loooong walk from the nearest side street. Fix that as well as false positive distractions and I can deal with the rest.
App needs a lot of work

MentorDSP is very inconsistent. I cannot express how frustrating it is to get a high number of phone manipulations when I rarely touch the phone while the vehicle is in drive. I am extremely careful when driving through neighborhoods and highways and still get a low score b/c of phone manipulations that I don’t know how they are calculated. I also get dinged for taking a call from my dispatch or support while my vehicle is pulled over and parked. Why??? Please fix your freaking app.
Worst app ever
2024-11-19
by Rando74
Registered my walking movements as driving and counted it as phone manipulations even though I was scanning the packages as I walked to the houses. Support says it can tell When it’s in the van and when it’s not. I called BS on that and told them to don’t treat me like I’m stupid because their software is not that smart. There’s no geofence for it to register to show that it’s inside the van or not. Your assumptions are that the drivers that are using MentorDSP are dumb hicks that don’t understand technology. Hardly. It’s OK to admit there’s flaws. That’s how you fix these things. But don’t try and pretend that everything is working as intended. I don’t even understand how anybody rated this more than one star that used it. It’s obviously the developers that have rated it higher to counterbalance every single real user giving it a one star.
Inaccurate
2024-11-19
by Pls Get Rid Of This App
To avoid phone manipulations you not only have to put MentorDSP on a totally different device than the one you are using the flex app on, you cannot hit any bump in the road because the phone waking when shook by a gd bump in the road counts as a phone manipulation. Not only that but yesterday I got 3 hard cornering pins and it was on a straight highway, not even at a fricking turn? Fix MentorDSP because I’m tired of feeling afraid I’m going to lose my job to something that is crazy inaccurate and useless.

This is literally the worst app ever! You'll constantly get all types of stupid false reports on MentorDSP such as: speeding, phone distraction, & reverses. I reverse here & there but I NEVER speed or touch my phone but I'll still get marked numerous times for phone distraction! MentorDSP is trash & it's a shame how we really have to rely on a app to tell us how we should drive & etc when all it does is report false info. If there was a way to get MentorDSP deleted permanently I'd be the 1st one to sign up for that. Get this stupid app fixed asap!!!
I don’t know how bonuses are counted at other locations, but at mine, it’s based on driver rating/score. That said, I’ve tried to be good... there are some days where I drive as “gently” as I can in a deliberate effort to keep things good, but somehow, I get marked for more things than I normally would from driving more aggressively. It makes no sense. Seriously, some of my best scores are on days where I drove as aggressively as I used to before MentorDSP started being used, and on days where I purposely try to reduce hard cornering, braking and acceleration, somehow I get hit even more? It makes no sense. MentorDSP is garbage.
Useless

by Shdonttalksh
MentorDSP is useless there is no rhyme or reason to the scoring system. A good is just as bad as a an average or risky. How can you have 3 logged events being smooth turns and stops and get a good, and your score drops from that. Then you can get a great with no logged events and your score don’t move at all? How do you get a great with no logged events but get a good when you get positive feedback with smooth turns and stops?
App is useless and I believe is just as distracting because you don’t know what you will get. Also how can you take a trip that’s for example 10 miles and one time you hit the brakes hard or don’t have a smooth turn in the last mile of the trip but that automatically gives you a lower score? The other 9 miles that you were driving great don’t count for anything? Just a pointless app.
Worthless Garbage

This is just an attempt at a company to micromanage their employees. It’s completely worthless and if anything makes driving less safe and more robotic. To claim reverse as dangerous is idiotic. Maybe just hire more competent drivers and train them better instead? Amazons drivers are some of the worst even with the Mentor app at work simply because they disregard the system. In MentorDSP they have a “phycologist” claim that multi-tasking is impossible because we can actually put all our mind to multiple things at once. Duh. That’s not what multi-tasking is, it is doing multiple things at once and being aware of how much effort each thing needs in order to be complete, which is obviously possible since people do it everyday. MentorDSP is so frustrating that it makes the easiest job annoying. A poor attempt at actually trying to make driving actually safe.

It’s completely false info and they won’t fix anything even when presented with facts and evidence. They said once I was on the phone while driving, but I was on break and inside of a mall. Yes I was on the phone but my vehicle was turned off and I wasn’t near it. Then they discriminate based upon sex. I know this because I’m a guy and most the females I work with have high scores while males have low scores. They say I’m distracted while driving but I don’t touch my phone until I am parked and then I wait about 10 seconds and I use my phone to do my job (delivery driver)! Then they want to say that they don’t take points away for reversing but then why is it show up as a event. Mostly no one has ever explained how the points work out or how to improve except for a stupid video that has nothing to do with your driving skills! When you leave feedback they only want 3 lines which equates to about 1 sentence and a few extra words!
Inaccurate phone distractions!

We did a test at our Location with ride alongs. Even without touching the phone at all during the course of our delivery routes. MentorDSP still detected 30 phone manipulations throughout the trip. We had thought this was happening due to all the pot holes and that looks accurate according to this test. It’s inconsistency to determine the difference between a pothole over a phone manipulation is causing a lot of complaints here.
Worthless app.no matter how hard you try you can't maintain a score

I was obliged to use this app while delivering for Amazon. The routes were in the Scottish highlands where there are single track road. When you drive on these roads, as a matter of complying with road safety you have to stop suddenly when approaching a corner when another vehicles comes round the corner. By doing so the app suggests that you have been braking aggressively and brings your score down as though you have been reckless, instead of avoiding crashing into another car or tractor. There isn’t a feedback option to allow you to address this which means it is no use and when having a route like this it gets switched off. It means the app is useless and misrepresents the drivers actions. Given a choice I wouldn’t use it. I no longer work for this company and deleted the app.

MentorDSP is a tool. Not for driving but for lots of other reasons I’d suspect. Kickback for one, excuse to fire employees, monitoring of employees off hours, it’s really an Orwellian app. I’d follow the money to find out why this garbage; which we anyone who has used it will confirm, is inaccurate and arbitrary, continues to be used. This has the making of an epic class action lawsuit. Everyone who is a victim of it pitches in $5-10 and forces discovery, we might be able to end this tyranny.

This App can make you aware of your driving. I have driven and piloted just about everything that rolls or flies. I have never had an accident that was my fault. One Speeding ticket in 35 years. You do not take serious safety concerns into account. Seat Belts, Time behind the wheel is not recorded. Using the motion of the instrument is not real time results. It is easy to manipulate your device to achieve excellent results. Try wrapping your phone and placing it in a box of Jell-o or a substance of the same characteristic. I know of a couple of Aerospace Engineers who can manipulate the App it does not even know which way is up. I just think it is funny that you can sell such shit and get away with it. We even watched and researched some of your employees using Garmin and observed dozens of near misses and violations that make me wonder how you are even insured. Truely funny. Extremely flawed. Oh! another mention is your employees should not be allowed to post what is good about your App it is canned and repetitive.

It was justifiable solely through my Mentor score, that the Amazon DSP I worked full time w/ benefits for, terminated my employment.
How I went from 850/800+ FICO to 500ish Overnight, and only gained 60 pts over a WEEK is beyond me. The algorithms are NOT geared to "safety" but it Does give the DSP's extra length to cover their behinds when they lay people off Slow Season. Smdh
