Osmo parent is childish

OsmoParent while proficient at describing basics of the child’s process, is basically a waste. If the company truly wanted to make it adaptable to parents. They would include support so the parent could discuss issues, critique and recommendations. There is nothing through OsmoParent or any of the games for requesting this type of help. Have all of the games and apps for the Osmo World. Spending considerable amounts, hoping to encourage growth in learning of our grandchildren. One of the main complaints on every platform is the lack of concise information on how to play and use the individual apps. What’s wrong with a doc section with details of play. Most assume it’s intuitive. If an adult can’t understand the care and use of these apps and learning methods how can you expect child of five to do it. On one of the most recent $4.99... Numbers Toybox; the apps pace is slow, with again no support for how. OsmoParent crashed in as much that it would stall and at times repeat the same segment of the game before moving on. (E.g) recipe game... how would know to leave tile on board until the timer ended.., or to remove the tile after so it would not re-add it.

Wow!

Our child is 6 and until today, has been reluctant to attempt to engage with numbers counting and letters. As an educator with a learning behavior specialist endorsement and 10 years in the classroom I can say THIS is a game changer and life changer! Tears literal tears of joy as I heard our child say Wow! I’m smart! I did it! See Mom! Look 1 dot and another dot makes 2 dots! I get it now!
Imagine that, 3 years of frustration and self doubt transformed. It’s open ended, not overwhelming with extra sensory overload and somehow able to engage even the most reluctant of learners. Our son has an average of three minutes attention span, he spent 47 minutes actively engaged and proactively solving puzzles, using his own methods of problem solving and was able to achieve self confidence in his abilities! Imagine what this can do for neurotypical thinkers as well! This is by far and away the most amazing learning experience I’ve ever seen! THANK YOU OSMO!!!!!!

We LOVE Osmo!

My 5 year old daughter really wanted Osmo for Christmas and I was hesitant because it’s expensive and requires an iPad. But I’m so glad we got it. She plays a little bit every day and is already leveling up in math and spelling. Our 3yr old watches her and plays the monster drawing game. She’s a bit young for it, but wants to play too. They love it and I love seeing them giggle and learn. If you are considering expansion packs - we love monster and pizza!

Also, Osmo is really beautifully designed. Starting with unboxing and the set up - it’s all easy and beautiful. Then with the game itself, every detail is considered - from the marker case, to the storage containers for the tiles, to OsmoParent interface and styling. If you can’t tell we LOVE Osmo. :)

Account hacked within a month of purchase

Not very happy our account has already been hacked and I haven’t even had the game for a month. We’ve already purchased $200 in parts and accessories. Started a 3 day free trial of math bees and bought letters but now it’s saying we have to pay full price after just 2 days. I went onto my parent dash board this morning and it’s saying my son has played 3 games this morning but he hasn’t because we just woke up. Also, I purchased a drawing kit on the website and it says I have the $10 account credit for the purchase but nothing in my purchase history. Sounds like someone is already trying to take over our account and I will not have my sons identity compromised. No one to actually talk to for live support. Only automated chat that isn’t even live. Poor value for the money we spent. Hopefully I can return everything ans it’s not too late.

Great software!

Osmo is just perfect for the diverse interests of my two 6 YOs.
I originally purchased it for the coding games to give them exposure to logic and step-planning as a basis for programming, but they also love the drawing and shape games, the math & word games and the fun of the Pizza shop and Detective Agency games. We ended up purchasing more packages as they enjoyed more of the interaction.
My kids are pretty advanced (2nd grade at 6 YO) so it would be nice to have some higher levels in development or perhaps some cross-over games to scratch and other coding applications.
Great products, Osmo. Thanks!

SHADY COMPANY!!! POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES

We received a free trial set. My son enjoyed one of the games, but overall he was not impressed. Basically it uses a mirror to see what is on the table. Yes, it had tangible objects to move on the table surface, but overall it’s not that impressive. As an educator, I believe there are many more apps that are education with far less cost. In addition, the iPad can not have any protective cover on it to work with OsmoParent ...a nerve racking thought for any parent. In order to try the trial you have to give your credit card information. There is NO where to cancel the trial in their app or website. The company is supposed to send an email to cancel prior to charging, they did NOT!!! BEWARE IF YOU DO THE TRIAL, AS I GOT CHARGED!!! You must email customer service to cancel. Who knows how long until I get a refund!!! 😡

Kids love it. Not phonetically correct

I have recently received my Osmo. My kids love playing it. As a former elementary teacher I have a concern. The alphabet game doesn’t not pronounce the sounds of the letters correctly. I have noticed it in two of the sounds. For the letter c- the sound that Mo says is “cu”. This is not phonetically correct. Also for the letter a- Mo says the sound “uh”. This is confusing for my kids and I have to make sure that I say the sounds correctly for them. This is a major issue in teaching small children phonics. This needs to be fixed. I love this concept of incorporating technology and learning but it must be done phonetically correct. Hope this helps and gets fixed.

Terrible App

Got the Little Genius starter kit for a 4 yo boy’s birthday. He’s enjoying OsmoParent itself so far, only about 20 minutes into installing everything on his iPad.

Pointless (in my opinion) to install the parent app on the same device he’s going to use to play the game, so I skipped that step. Went to install the parent app on my phone (the one for which I’m writing this review). Used my own information to “login” but there’s no way to link my account with my son’s to keep track of his activity. Used his email account for his iPad, used my information to install OsmoParent on my phone to have a more timely ability to monitor and support, and learned the hard way there is no ability to directly link our accounts.

No thanks.

Love it!

3 kids 4,5 and 8. Their screen time has become more productive. They ask to “play.” Love that ONE system has different different categories including drawing.
Different levels of learning.
Quality of game pieces is amazing. I could see us using these for many years to come.
Tech support answers super fast.
Colors and graphics are great and interesting.

Very good

Just disappointed that Fire Tablet games in App Store are very limited.
I am shown games on my parent app that I cannot even download on my child’s tablet.

Not super useful

OsmoParent would be great if it actually worked. It is very slow to update, and most of the time gives strange or incomplete information. On some apps, the information seems about right (although slow to come in), while stats for other apps is incomplete or incorrect. The information displayed on OsmoParent is not reliable. Also, having to view it in portrait mode all the time is annoying for use on iPad pro use with a keyboard. Poorly thought out and executed.

Needs a lot of work

OsmoParent does not seem well done at all. The info doesn’t transfer quickly and I can do very little from OsmoParent. I seem to be mostly getting sent to ads for more of your products which is super annoying. I like your product but I don’t want to be spammed with ads for things I already bought.

I would like to see the ability to reset/edit individual kids progress, edit accounts (avatars and nicknames)...that sort of stuff.

Great App 4 Parent

I think it is a great app to see your child’s progress and to plan the future activities. Though, I really wish there was a print/email report option to get a record of what has been completed to use the report outside of OsmoParent .

Not really know the purpose

Not quite understand why they set up this parent app. Unlike other parent app, I couldn’t track my kids activities through OsmoParent, the only thing is just find instructions from each game which is almost useless as my daughters know how to use them. I received a mail to notify me what my daughters draw today with few pictures, I thought I could find them through OsmoParent but nothing was there. Very confused and not meet my expectation.

Excited that we found it!

My autistic son has had the hardest time learning over zoom this year! The apps are amazing!
Being able to see his progress with the parent app is a huge bonus! Thank you Osmo !

So disappointed

I recently purchase the Osmo starter kit for my daughter for Christmas, which I might end up returning cause I am not happy with the sampler that we received from seeing Santa at the mall. The instructions in the box are off, it had me downloading OsmoParent on my phone and then made me do the same thing again on my child’s iPad. I could not load in once I set everything up. Once I got login in the iPad there were no games available. I’m hoping that the actual Osmo kit is going to be easier to set up.

Education, and fascinating

This game is really something special. Your kiddo will be absorbed by the magical journey of Osmo. Highly recommend this for those parents who allow screen time just wish it was educational and stimulating!

Games won’t load on iPad

We tried to play yesterday, and all we saw was the white screen that says Osmo. App wouldn’t load past that. Tears.

I re-installed everything yesterday, per review I read, which was unnecessarily time-consuming since each game is its own app. OsmoParent loaded once for each game. It will not load again today. White Osmo screen. That’s it.

Tears, lots of tears, people. I’ll have to reload everything again. Sign up again. Not a good experience at all.

Awesome!

My son (almost 5) got the little genius starter kit for Christmas and he has been playing for over an hour! I love that I can check the skills he has worked on and for how long.

By

Useless

All I’m getting from OsmoParent are instructions on using the games we already have and play. The data DOES NOT update to reflect play time and what is there is incorrect. A game my daughter has yet to play is showing playtime while others that she has spent a while on show nothing. Also, when I click on games like “Masterpiece” I get a message saying “this product isn’t available yet in the United States”!?!?!

By

Not user friendly

This company spends their resources on marketing, not building software.

We picked up a sampler in the mall and spent 2 days trying to set it up and ultimately failed. OsmoParent vs box vs parent app all have different directions. Ultimately we were unable to activate the sampler and deleted OsmoParent .

My son was very excited due to the marketing but ultimately disappointed and bored by the software.

Doesn’t update

Seems to update just fine on the core original games but won’t give me updates on the games we’ve add on to. Bought the genius pack then added monster but I can’t get updates on the monster game.

By

Why tho?!

Useless with out giving a credit card number. And paying $60 a month. No option to subscribe through iTunes. Can’t play a free version.
Kids just got a Christmas gift that is completely useless. What trash. What a waste.

By

Doesn’t work.

Got the little genius kit a week ago. Hasn’t worked since I downloaded it. At all. Not even once. For the amount of money that is spent on products you would think they would develop apps that actually work.

By

Multiple Profiles

I purchased this program for 2 of my kids. The setup was pretty easy but the Osmo parent app will not let me monitor them both at the same time. Very inconvenient having to log out one profile into another.

By

Black Friday free sampler

Got the free sampler to check it out but requires a credit card number to even try it. Won’t let you past the screen without it. Not giving this company my money based on this experience. Stay away from osmo.

By

Sample gone south

I was looking forward to trying out the “free sample” app with my son. I tried to set it up and it will not let you even try the trial without entering credit Info. What a joke! You lost a potential customer.

Not updating at all

My daughter has been playing all sorts of games and none of it has come through
