So Douugh started off as my favorite banking app. Unfortunately, every single week their app goes down and I can’t access my account or my money. I tried their troubleshooting tips weekly but it always ends up with me having to email them and them taking 2-3 days to reply to my request with a generic “I’m sorry this happened. We’ll figure it out.” And they never respond again. It’s frustrating to not have access to your money, and it’s also illegal as well and theft for them to not let you into your account. It’s getting extremely old. They either need better tech support or an overhaul of the app because it should not go down every few days. And the sad part? They don’t even care. I genuinely think it’s on purpose. The fact that you can’t call either is gross.

I originally used this app as a piggy bank of sorts. I put money in not really expecting to touch it until I went on vacation. Now it’s time for vacation and it I keep getting a connection error issue. I’m unable to link my bank account and when I try to link PayPal the app shuts down. I’ve already installed and uninstalled the app and made sure I had the latest version, but have had no luck. When I request to close the app I’m met with the spinning circle of doom. You can only contact the company via email from what I see. Online it says you have a 3 day wait time for a response though. Looks like I won’t have that money in time for vacation. Shame on you!

There’s so much promise here, but so much to go...
First off during the setup processes, the security is surprisingly lax, a 6 character password minimum with a letter and number so ‘abcde1’ would be okay? That’s terrifying. Second is that it turns off access to the password functionality built into the OS, so I can’t generate a password or use a third party app like 1Password.
Next there’s the “app only” approach, this is the one thing that gives me the the biggest cause for alarm. I can’t access things via a website? There’s no iPad app? I can’t open a webpage and verify my balances when I don’t have access to my cell phone?
I want a lot of what’s being offered here, but it seems like there’s a lot to fix on basic levels before this can become a basic level service.
