I’ve been using this app since it’s early days and it is remarkable to see how it has developed into what I think is the best weather solution for boaters available for iOS. The developer is very responsive to feedback. I don’t know how he would respond to bugs and problems because I haven’t seen any of those, yet. I’m guessing pretty good! I’ve used the weather routing features on several long passages, and it has changed the way I think about weather windows for the better. LuckGrib ’s integration with Iridium Go is second to none. The number of available models is likewise outstanding. Finally, as an iOS developer myself, I have to take my hat off to LuckGrib ’s user interface which is elegant and intuitive in the way that all apps should be, but often are not. Highly recommended.

I purchased LuckGrib last year with the offshore data since I am a cruiser on a sailboat in remote places. I use it with an Iridium Go and find that it down loads the weather files very fast. LuckGrib is easy to use and has a ton of detail features. I just use it for basic, wind, waves, cloud cover, rain for short distance sailing. I plan to purchase the weather routing for my next long passage.
Not only is it an awesome app, you only pay one time, there are no monthly or annual subscription fees. The customer service is solid!

I highly recommend this to anyone that uses GRIB files for sailing/yachting/fishing ect..

We sail over 10,000 miles offshore each year and use this app almost exclusively for pre-passage planning and for downloading GRIB files while we are at sea. LuckGrib is intuitive, the user support is unparalleled, and the advanced routing features are impressive. Craig has been very open to feedback and to assisting us with learning his software. When we have noticed a missing feature, he adds it! Highly recommend using this as your GRIB viewer for your offshore sailing endeavors.

The essential tool for outdoor activity planning. GFS, NAM, HRRR give the picture that becomes more precise closer you get to your planned time. LuckGrib let me ride through 60miles bike ride event in the rain dressed properly, as I knew the rain won’t end, and it will rain on the whole route. I wish there was support for experimental HRRR smoke model. UPD having an address converter instead of having to enter coordinates would also make LuckGrib more usable.

A retired professional pilot and a sailor, just found LuckGrib and downloaded the “trial” version. Absolutely the best I have seen! The tutorial is perfect, so many apps assumes you have hours to tinker with their product to learn how to use them effectively. LuckGrib has a progressive tutorial, just right! Very excited about this weather app

We are cruising in the Caribbean for the last month and have grown to love LuckGrib. I use it daily now and prefer it over Predict Wind. It works so well over the Iridium Go satellite service that I don’t even feel the wait. I paid for all the add ons and it is definitely worth it. Simply wonderful to use and beautiful too!

It’s hard not to pile on to good reviews, but LuckGrib does so much so well. My use case is sail racing. I am impressed with: -Usability, great UI. - Easy GRIB file management. -Routing is effortless and information rich. -The polars for my boat are in the library. -Routing is very smart, it routes around land boundaries and creates optimal sailing plans. A must have for serious sailors.

This is the real deal app for weather! Tons of various models to choose from to compare forecasts. You are able to select which data and area to download, so it’s great for low bandwidth offshore forecasts. You can even integrate weather routing! Highly recommend!

Great initial tutorial that’ll have you downloading grib files and using the main features within minutes. Love the meteogram display that shows a quick snapshot of the entire forecast. My favorite part is the ‘but it once and enjoy forever’ aspect!!

I have tried them all and LuckGrib is so user friendly with a plethora of grib options. I am not a sailor, nor a boater. I have always wanted to be a meteorologist, but never pursuing my dream, just a high end weather enthusiast.

Anyone above an enthusiast will surely benefit from LuckGrib. I highly recommend it!

I am an experienced offshore sailor and my business includes providing weather forecasts for racing sailors. This is the best iOS GRIB viewing app available. The Offshore mode is a worthwhile upgrade for anyone trying to download GRIBs offshore, even via cellular as the compact file size is incredibly important. I highly recommend this to any offshore sailor.

There is simply no better way to look at weather model data then with LuckGrib. In many ways it’s better than the display system I use at the National Weather Service.

Love LuckGrib, I’m weather enthusiast and I love looking at weather models, i wish I knew what the update times were for the models. Other than that love LuckGrib, totally recommend it, another thing I would love for LuckGrib to do is put snow totals in it

I’m reading “Modern Marine Weather” by David Burch, and have been checking out various GRIB viewers. I highly recommend LuckGrib in combination with the book! The tutorial strenghtens this bond

As a sailor and general weather fanatic I find Luck Grib to be filled with unique and useful features. The graphic presentation is outstanding. If you are serious about weather you should have Luck Grib on your side.

this app is the best mariner’s app period. Not only an effective tool for weather prediction, but you can learn a lot about weather models from it. Just great!

Great collection of models and info.

Took maybe 20 minutes to learn the button pushing because I’m old & slow but now am off & running.

Overall an excellent tool.

The absolute best app on any platform for viewing model data (HRRR, NAM, etc). I use it when sailing, hiking, and when trying to assess the impact of an incoming snowstorm in New England.

Far and away the best GRIB viewer available on iOS.

Also the Mac version is killer much better than anything available for windows.

A bit of a learning curve but it is amazing and you are constantly challenged discovering new features.

I’ve been a weather hobbyist for years and I’ve always wanted a program that could download raw weather model “grib” data and allow me to see predicted weather model data at any point and any time. This software is it!

Capability to obtain and display weather data like this used to required advanced skills in Unix and the use of esoteric programs on Linux or Java. Not any more. This software for the iPad and iPhone creates beautiful graphics and provides a wealth of real weather model forecast information for the casual user or the serious weather hobbyist. The interface is well-thought out, intuitive and extremely powerful.

The graphics it produces are extraordinary, with plenty of custom options to add or subtract data or change color themes.

All the major US and Canadian weather models are supported and it even allows you to customize and download specific data types directly from NOAA. View data from the NAM, GFS, HRRR, RAP and others. It even includes the newest National Blend of Models (NBM).

This is a powerful software product that’s well designed and easy to use. I’m incredibly pleased to have found it. Even better, there’s an equivalent product for the Mac OS. (I’ve bought both!). So if you’re a weather hobbyist, sailor, or spend much time in the outdoors and need to be able to predict the weather, this what you’ve been looking for. Highly recommended!! (PS- I had some questions and the developer was extremely helpful and readily available to answer them all.)
