How does a media company allow this garbage app?

2022-05-21

F1TV hasn’t worked right since it was launched. I have emailed F1 support numerous times with my issues. For $100 streaming subscription per year you would think they would figure out a way to get stable app performance. Lots of errors pop up attempting to stream. Be prepared for “the current network connection maybe effecting your experience. Please check your connection and try again.” This is a constant error, that’s hasn’t been fixed in numerous updates and has nothing to do on the user side. The only way to fix it is to completely delete F1TV and reinstall. You used to be able to sign out and sign back in to fix it and get the streaming to work again. However, with subsequent updates it’s been made worse to where you have to go as far as to delete F1TV and start over by re installing and signing in all over again. This error occurs after about every two races you watch. So it’s an incredible annoyance.

Horrible App Constant Spoilers

2022-06-22

I don’t know about the rest of the world but sometimes I can’t sit down to watch the race exactly when it starts. With the races being pretty long, sometimes I’ll try and watch the race when it’s already halfway over. I really enjoy racing in general and like to see the whole race. So when I open up F1TV to try watch the race, what happens? The race will open at its current LIVE time stamp. What if I didn’t want any spoilers? Too bad there it is. Okay fine, I’ll try and not look at the standings and rewind it real quick. Well, let’s hope it doesn’t buffer, because every time it buffers it jumps to LIVE again. You were 30 minutes behind? Too bad. Completely ruins the experience for me. Absolutely unacceptable Formula One with all its money hasn’t implemented a feature to avoid these issues.

Scam app and subscriptions

2022-07-23

Earlier I used to airplay from this app app to my smart TV, now it’s not supported with recent updates. Support team says Airplay only works with Apple TV. Why would I pay premium prices when you don’t support Smart TV. Also this app doesn’t play video in mobile browsers. Total scam!!! Another issue; The subscription keeps saying invalid card for every credit card I used. Only allows to subscribe via Apple Pay. TO APPLE SUPPORT: Apple please take note and make sure to take necessary actions, as they’re using your platform to host a junk app. You may need to verify where/how they’re processing credit card details. I ‘m pretty sure, F1 app team doesn’t care about reviews, if so they would have fixed the issues or atleast clarify the same. Have reported to Apple, I guess everyone SHOULD REPORT F1TV TO APPLE TEAM.

How does this still not work?

2022-08-24

Just make it work. Keep removing complexities until you get it to just work. The mobile browser stream used to work perfectly. But they disable that. So if you were going to live and die by your mobile app, just keep it simple and make it work. And then slowly roll out whatever things you want. But test, test, test and test some more before you roll those things out. If you can’t make it work, don’t release it. Just make an app that works. Unbelievable. Some random guy on Reddit made his own Apple TV app for F1 TV. And you know what? It works. It just works. One guy. In his spare time. And it works. Unbelievable. Fire everyone on your app team and just hire that one guy. He will make it work.

Until then, just reenable streaming live races in a mobile browser. Because that works. Until you decided to not allow it. I swear to Horner I’m going to go back to pirating video streams of F1 because that works better than the official app...

Doesn’t Work, Overpriced, Ineffective Support

2022-09-25

I had a good maybe 3-4 weeks where it worked at least well enough to be usable. I use AirPlay to watch it on my tv, or used to. Out of nowhere it’s decided to refuse to work. Switch to AirPlay and F1TV just freaks out and flips back and forth without playing anything until it says network error. Nothing about my set up has changed. Devices and network are all more than capable and up to date. Support is woefully ineffective, passes you off from person to person asking for the same information repeatedly and ends up insisting it’s either your network or Apple’s fault despite AirPlay working perfectly fine in literally every other app that uses it. $80/yr is outrageous for such an inconsistent, clunky app that actually REMOVES support from devices as it updates. I used to use it on the Xbox web browser, can’t do that anymore. Deleting this garbage as soon as my subscription is up.

Run Away

2022-10-26

Your subscription will be charged. Then when you login you will not be able to access TV pro. It will show that it cost $0 so you k ow there system knows you paid but still won’t work. Then no human trouble shooting available. They will have you hit restore purchase and that will simply freeze F1TV . Then you will contact them again via email and they will send you an automated response that tells you to erase F1TV reinstall. That won’t work and it will actually direct you to contact them again. You will once again get an automated response that tells you to do the same trouble shooting. Truly horrible customer service. You take our money first for a year of service and the. Won’t invest enough in your app to make it work or enough to provide customer service to fix technical issues. Maybe Michael Massey is the new Chief Technology Officer!

Pretty bloody bad.

2022-11-27

UPDATE. Now I can’t even watch the replays on my iPhone on this trash app. It’s telling me there might be a network error, my network is working fine.

F1TV has gone even more downhill since they recently changed the video replay setup. You can’t even get it to go full screen anymore when using it on my phone through the TV, at least you had that option previously. Who wants to watch a race with a big black border around a quarter of the TV?! The controls are just bad all round, it’s so hard to pause and fast forward etc… I’m pretty annoyed I paid for this garbage app, especially when I can get replays for free. F1TV needs fixing so bad, especially with how much you are making people pay for it. Wish I could get a refund! I can’t believe it actually has 3.3 stars… And now it’s only at 1 and a half stars, bahahahaha. What a joke. $80.

Substandard. Buggish. Problematic

2022-12-28

this app should be partner with Netflix to handle all the streaming and maybe partner with a user account specialist company to handle security and login. It’s the only way to display telemetry so they have a monopoly. And like all monopolies there’s no competition so they don’t have to work as hard as they should to deliver a quality product. I streamed just fine a week ago but now that the season officially starts I can’t even login. Not F1TV , not online, and tech support is responsive but they are clearly not prepared for this. The person I worked with was great but the product is the Michael Masi of apps.

Following weekend I streamcast FP2 from my device to my TV since the AppleTV app won’t let you stream the world feed and that blocked all my other devices from being able to start a new season. Had no issues with FP1. Tech support again…. And not a quick fix.

It’s been YEARS and they still can’t make a decent product. Focus on the sport and let the experts focus on the delivery!!!

“Network Issue”

2023-01-29

It’s a bit disingenuous to have a message pop up implying that my inability to watch a replay of the recent race is due to my network connection, especially when I’m able to watch the post-race livestream as well as all races from past weekends.

F1 TV, please take care of these “network issues” as soon as possible. Or, alternatively, simply make it downloadable for offline viewing so I can know for a fact when I go to watch a race it will actually work.

At the very least, please take some responsibility for the network issues happening on your side. Maybe start simple by changing the messaging in app. Next, please try checking your own network connection. If that doesn’t work, I recommend unplugging and plugging in your router. IF THAT doesn’t work, maybe rethink charging fans for a product that doesn’t operate as promised.

Horrible App, Many Issues

2023-03-02

From a content standpoint, F1TV is great if you’re an F1 fan. This ends the good things I have to say. From a functionality standpoint, F1TV is garbage. If you’re planning on using this to cast to a TV, don’t get your hopes up as it doesn’t cast correctly about 60% of the time. This is with both Airplay and through a Chromecast. It just doesn’t work right. If you’re planning on watching on your phone, it works, but prepare for an archaic video player with not easy skip forward/skip backward controls, no record of what you watched, no “continue watching” feature if you take a break mid-race, just no intuitiveness whatsoever. Shame on this app for putting out such an awful app for a “premium” service. If you have any other way to watch F1, don’t waste your money on these guys who clearly don’t care about their product.

Updating my review

2023-03-31

I’ve used the Apple TV version of F1TV and so far the streams have been steady. A service adding their app to Apple TV and not having it incorporate the “up next” area of Apple TV is a huge miss in my opinion. This doesn’t support Picture in Picture but many services on Apple TV don’t. As for the iPad and phone versions of F1TV my previous complaints still exist: stops/pauses when accessing Control Center, doesn’t support Picture in Picture. It would be nice to have the stream on my tablet going and being able to see the timings, other in car feeds without losing the main feed. Updating my review from one star to two stars. And also the website still redirects to F1TV to watch content on both iPad and iPhone, there is no way to watch their content on their website which honestly had the option for Picture in Picture.

Content = excellent and immense. App = opposite.

2023-05-02

There is so much awesome content that F1 makes available to its fans, that the sheer volume and access is what all other professional sports league should strive for. So many documentaries, shows, old races and everything else up to the detailed data in real time races. Love it on my desktop.

But… F1TV … needs a lot of work. It can be very tough to find same content as on desktop. The playback options seems clumsy. Schedule is tough to navigate and find how to watch, especially if you like to watch Porsche SuperCup or other Formula series. F1TV needs A LOT more than I can describe in a reasonable amount of time.

There is a ton of potential here, but F1TV needs to be sorted out.

Stopped being able to AirPlay replay of events

2023-06-02

I’ve been an F1 TV subscriber for a few years now and have LOVED it. Suddenly, I’m not able to AirPlay a replay of races or practice sessions or qualifying. It’s super frustrating. I had a group of friends coming over to watch a race yesterday and was not able to play the replay through AirPlay. Fortunately, I was able to connect my iPad to the HDMI on my TV and everything played fine and the gathering was saved. It’s just ridiculous that they stopped supporting AirPlay for replays. I’m not going to stop watching or subscribing, I just want to make the pettiness of this move known and share my frustration. Other than this I’d give 5 stars for sure.

It’s fine.

2023-07-04

F1TV is fine but there are a lot of modern features missing. The big one no Apple TV Now Watching integration, so no show tracking, race notifications, or exciting event notices. Then another big one is on the phone or iPad when you bring up the pause/play overlay you can’t just click an empty part of the screen to close it, you have to wait for the menu to time out.

These are things that are fine to leave off of a small operation’s app, but F1 is not small, so this kind of stuff is honestly not acceptable. Not that this review will convince them to fix it, but it’s annoying that they don’t want to offer their customers the best experience possible.

The race commentary is my only complain this year 2022

2023-08-04

I’ve had an F1 tv pro account since last racing season (2021).

F1TV itself is fine. And during live broadcasts of the race it’s nice to have all the data and alternate on board views.

My dislike about this year with this app is that they steered away from the international commentary and use their own team now. I don’t like it. I much prefer the international feed with Crofty and Brundle and I don’t think there is a way to change it the international feed. I know they’re trying to make the this app live stream feel more exclusive to those who subscribe but the energy from the commentators just doesn’t match the sky broadcast.

Time table???

2023-09-05

I’ve been mostly happy with F1TV but the most recent update seems to have done away with the time table. While there used to be a full time schedule of each weekends races, detailing practice, qualifying, and race times, I am no longer able to find what time each starts. You’d think that being an international sport, with people tuning in from all different countries and time zones, it would be a priority to include such a thing. For as expensive as F1TV is (though I happily pay it because I’m such a big fan), you’d think they could get that small thing right. Having to google times for my time zone is an annoying extra step I feel like I should not need to take.

Better than Reviews now

2023-10-07

I was quite Hesitant to subscribe to F1 TV after looking at the reviews of F1TV. After finally deciding to roll the dice on it I can say that app is not as bad, in my experience as other reviews state. I have watched the practices this weekend with only one hiccup and that could have been on my home network and not F1TV . I watched an entire practice on my phone and iPad Air with no issues, and I watched day 2 and 3 on my LG C1 tv with airplay with no issue either so those are the only platforms I can speak of but I would say that my experience is vastly different from the top reviews.

Worst paid app ever

2023-11-07

Please, for the love of God, do not spend money for F1TV. It’s not worth a subscription. It will fail, it will not work, you will get frustrated, you will get angry with Formula 1, you all want to give up following racing all together.
Update
Since my first review, my account has been frozen. It says I have exceeded the maximum number of devices. I have only one device. I think it’s because I left a bad review. I will no longer support F1, I will no longer watch or attend any F1 function. I can’t believe that a media giant feels the need to go to this extent to take away F1TV from a subscriber but wont fix F1TV itself.

Unsure what everyone else’s issue is

2023-12-09

I’ve had F1TV for a few months now after recently getting back into F1. F1TV while the video UI can be a little clunky at times has overall been great. I’m not sure what everyone else is talking about with stream quality and airplay issues. I personally use F1TV on my iPad. The quality has never been bad for me personally and I have no issues when I watch on my iPad or AirPlay it to my TV. That being said I’m unsure if my experience is in the minority or if most of the reviews here are just upset. As someone who works in IT it’s entirely possible user error is the culprit for many of these reviews. Take mine with a grain of salt but check out F1TV anyways and see if it works well for you - it’s free after all.

It’s A Great App Just A Few Bugs

2024-01-09

I recently upgraded from Access to Pro and it wasn’t working but it turns out F1TV recognizes your initial subscription and must be cancelled first to then upgrade. Obviously you get to see the races problem is it does get a little tricky when AirPlay is enabled. If you close F1TV and restart your TV/Monitor it resets the connection and works perfectly fine. The support team is actually really good they have chat support and they respond very quickly! Great App hopefully they can work out those bugs on the developer side but all in all perfect for the mobile F1 FANS !

iOS app is garbage. Where’s the promised tvOS app?!

2024-12-10

F1TV itself is a “bug” and no update is going to fix it. No AirPlay, no Casting. Screen mirroring doesn’t work properly. F1 needs a new developer team. You’re underserving your paying fanbase. That’s not going to help you grow your audience by expanding your streaming options. “Later this year on Apple TV” that was last year’s unfulfilled promise.

Woeful

2024-12-10

This has been out for a year and is absolutely useless.
I’m in the US - we get F1 on ESPN using the Sky Sports feed. Wonderful, and pretty much free (if you have cable or a streaming service that carries ESPN).
I would subscribe for the year to this though if:
a) it was the Sky feed
b) it didn’t keep crashing
c) there was an Apple TV app for it
d) no audio/commentary on archive broadcasts
Seriously - no Apple TV app?? You expect people to just watch formula one on a cellphone for 2 hours each race for $80?
Did a month - it’s bollocks. Not worth the $10.

Terrible Overall

2024-12-10

For a paid service this is app is awful, it crashes, it’s buggy, audio is bad when it’s there other times on archived episodes there won’t be any at all. Shame this is what people get for a paid service.

Apple TV??

2024-12-10

When is the Apple TV app coming. Seriously this shouldn’t be that hard. I don’t know what technology you used to build the iOS app but making cross platform Apple apps isn’t a crazy task. It’s been promised for a while now and with the new season approaching fast we still haven’t heard anything.

It’s like a Williams

2024-12-10

After having F1TV for a year, I still find there is a strange black bar at the bottom of my screen, no commentary even selected a given language option and not fully updated archive from a few previous years of f1racing. This needs more than just a bit of fine tuning mon amie.

Love/hate

2024-12-10

Let me say first that I am a HUGE F1 fan. Maybe it’s because I am in the states but F1TV is the worst. F1TV decides when I am allowed to watch and then it stop altogether. I have call tech support, followed all there instruction and still F1TV will lot let me watch anything. (Subscribed to Pro Annual) Liberty Media need to fix whatever bug that causes F1TV to fail. Even with full, PAYED, subscription F1TV only works sometimes.

You got a lot to work on Formula 1

2024-12-10

With all of the Technology that comes out of F1 none of it went into the failed attempt of a subscription based mobile broadcast app. There’s no support for the Apple TV, I can mirror it to the Apple TV, but the video on the screen is only 3 1/4 of the whole screen in horizontal view. The bottom 1/4 of the screen has part of the home screen on it. F1TV is so bad I’ve seen illegal apps showing pirated broadcasts of Formula 1 put together better then this. If I could I would give you negative stars because I pay for this subscription.

Year Two of subscribing to F1TV I’m trying to watch the live stream of testing have already being subscribed to F1TV for a whole year now going on year 2 getting changed even durning the off season (I understand for the Archive) F1TV is still a Dumpster Fire “the most technologically advanced form of Motorsport still can’t live can’t fix these stupid Bugs.

As good as a lemon

2024-12-10

F1TV looks nice. But that’s pretty much it. It’s hot or miss whether or not the player will actually show the feed or just play the audio for you. So it’s a constant game of closing and reopening the feed until you get some sort of video. And when you finally do, it usually only plays for a minute and then freezes.

Pretty poor for a paid app

2024-12-10

F1TV flickers when presenting video via Apple TV (none of my other apps do this). There is no in app support to share the videos, you have to share your whole phone screen first. The website version is no better. You either have to watch it non full-screen and not see all of the video. Setting it to full screen causes F1TV to hang. Very poor UX for something that costs so much.

Love F1 TV - Password Doesn’t Work

2024-12-10

I love the archive and ability to stream live races. unfortunately, for some reason F1TV doesn’t take my password even though logging in on the computer works just fine. I’ve reset my password multiple times to no avail. Very infuriating.

Still not ready for prime time

2024-12-10

I’ve give the this app app a full season test but the functionality and UX are not ready. Be sure to check out the region restrictions to confirm the functions available in your region. Maybe another year of development will help.

Horribly bad UI, good content.

2024-12-10

Using F1TV is remarkably frustrating. The video player is clunky and lacks responsiveness, and god help you if you need to close it and come back later. You’ll never find the spot you left off. Some features only work sometimes, and the scroll menus are often broken.

The ability to select your second view is very cool, and I enjoy watching the normal replay combined with my favorite driver. I think a traditional PIP setup would be better and result in less wasted screen space, but it’s a nice feature.

The archive is spotty. It seems that anything older than a few years may be lacking commentary, or the commentary may not be in English. If you don’t mind watching the entire race in silence, it won’t be a problem but most of us enjoy having some commentary to help explain what’s happening. Surely English versions exist, right?

All in all, if I have the ability to watch the race on the ESPN app, I’ll watch it there every time. If this app is the only option, I guess there’s nothing I can do about it.

Where are the other races

2024-12-10

I subscribed not only hoping for Formula 1 but for Formula 2, 3 and Porsche Super Cup as it said I’m the description but overall pretty good but where are the other types of races?

Love Formula One, Hate this app. Could be better!!!!!!!!!

2024-12-10

Only reason I have F1TV is I love formula one.
Terribly slow and confusing UI. Even illegal websites with f1 content load faster and smoother. Please fix this.

Great app

2024-12-10

F1 TV app works great on all my apple and androids devices. No issues with loading, streaming or AirPlay. Only once in 2019 did a race (Silverstone GP) have issues ( fist 10 laps) with not loading and customer support was quick to give me a small refund/credit for not being able to watch the opening laps.

I have Xfinity and have flown United Airlines and yet F1 TV is the worst product EVER. It's so bad it should be marketed as F1 Jerky.

I LOVE F1! I love everything about the entire weekend. I even love getting up early and starting my day with vroom vroom! What I really have started to hate is how all (all 2) of the women are treated to poorly. The male commentators go out of their way to be demeaning, rude, sexist and snide EVERY show, EVERY weekend, EVERY time a woman speaks. You GUYS really need to watch the F1 intro about “equality in F1”!! It’s 2021 guys - get over yourselves and start treating women with respect! You know, treat women the same way you treat men!

This app is junk. When you use your iPhone to screen mirror it to your smart TV the picture constantly blinks. Total junk
