We are going to Spain in mid-September and booked an apartment through this app. They were responsive when we were trying to rent the place, and so far, the experience had been good. However, last week, our landlord informed us that they were no longer working with the platform due to issues with the this app team and asked us to cancel the reservation. We immediately emailed the customer care team to inform them of the situation but have only received inadequate responses from different agents who do not seem to have read the thread.

We are now without an apartment and without firm confirmation about when the approximately USD 2.3K will be refunded to our credit card. As time is of the essence in finding a new place to stay, we urgently need our funds to be refunded before we proceed in a different direction.

this app is a complete scam. I booked an apartment in Spain and the landlord stole my security deposit. this app has no customer service or accountability. The landlord blocked me on WhatsApp and this app says they can’t help. NEVER EVER use this service. AirBnB will always be king. This is a scam that lets landlords take advantage of tenants. 0 stars

I attempted to book two apartments using this app. The first one the landlord canceled (at no fault to this app) and the second one this app could not “verify” my card and notified me they would be canceling my booking two days before I was scheduled to arrive. This was after it was approved and the funds were already taken from my account.

I was refunded less than what I paid and had to file a dispute with my bank for the remaining balance. Weeks later I am still getting emails to verify my card. Terrible experience and I’d recommend just booking an Airbnb or finding someone to directly rent from.

Horrid customer service, and doesn’t properly vet its hosts. By not providing reviews, you won’t know if your landlord is someone who will be a great person, or a horrid person to live under. Also, the price doesn’t seem justified. You will save money using Airbnb or any other site besides this one. I regret signing a contract through this app and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

A Spot não me deu suporte nenhum , cancelaram minha conta depois que encerrei a minha reserva e tive que ficar implorando para devolverem meu dinheiro de fiança . Não recomendo .

Booked an apartment after two other failed attempts. Had a lot of pressure to find a place. When finally having a landlord agree, I got a call from this app. I explained to the agent prior to confirming I need a rental agreement for a National ID - and the agreement can not be transitorio, the agent said he will confirm with landlord before charging my card. The agent never called back - and my card was charged. I got in contact with landlord and he DOES NOT give legit contracts for document purposes. I tried to explain my situation, he did not care. I emailed this app and I was informed since it was less than 30 days to moving in I could
not be refunded. Thanks for NOT being honest and NOT doing your job.

Despite what they say, this app won't protect you against dishonest landlords, it won't issue refunds or represent you in case of disputes. Scamming landlords will lie in the listings (don't trust the "Verified by this app" label, it doesn't mean anything), will use tricks to prevent you from verifying the state of the apartment at the time of checkin, and no matter how much you document these issues with this app during your stay, they will do NOTHING if a landlord decides to lie to keep part of even your whole deposit. Instead, this app will protect dishonest landlords to the end, because they are the ones who have the properties that this app wants to make money out of. Even if you decide to return the property early because of a bad experience, this app won't refund you either. It's basically the perfect facilitator for dishonest landlords to scam tourists. PUT YOUR SAFETY AND YOUR MONEY FIRST, DON"T USE this app.

Coming from the USA to Spain, I had a truly awful experience with Spotahome renting a room in a shared apartment. Moving to a new country and not having the local knowledge of how things work is already really difficult and the people I rented from take advantage of this.
In the first place, you cannot contact the landlord before getting approval for you stay, meaning you cannot ask important questions before you are committed. The ‘flexible’ cancellation policy was not at all flexible. In my case, this also meant I could not see the rental contract I would sign until I was literally at the apartment with my suitcases. The contract had some really ridiculous rules and I did not want to sign it but I found myself in a difficult situation when I learned I would get charged for the entire stay by this app and the fact that I had nowhere to go.
I tried to bargain with the fact that the listing on Spotahome also said the apartment came with several amenities such as a dishwasher, weekly cleaning service, etc. and different furniture than shown in the video which turned out not to be true YET I was charged the same price and my request to move out/relocate was denied.
Booking on Spotahome is a RISK and in my case it did not pay off. You never know what the landlord will be like. If you decide to book on Spotahome, make sure to read the details very carefully, because you also have to search through the emails to find the actual price of your stay. I also recommend booking months in advance so you have the possibility to cancel and trying to see the contract and getting a feel for the landlord beforehand.

I never write reviews so that has to tell you something. I had a terrible experience with the place I booked and costumer service said they couldn’t do anything because I didn’t report it in the first 24 hours ,BUT THEY WERE THINGS THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN IN THE FIRST 24 hours!! I wished someone had warned me so I hope this helps someone else! Please don’t use this service!!

The listings aren’t real. I tried three different properties only to be told they were unavailable or available only at a higher price than listed. I assume they are listings being scraped from other sites to drive traffic.

Stay away from this app!

The idea is good but the system is not reliable. First time to use and have done two bookings which were available and none of the were confirmed. Customer service is an artificial intelligence machine that does not support you at all. Finally, pricing is little tricky. If you use Spotahome you do not understand why an announced price is so different than the one finally offer. Only understood when used the desktop version where you can understand the different rates per month. In summary, the idea is good but the model still needs to improve a lot to be reliable.

Frustrating. Is there a trick I don’t know??

The content is great, lots of pictures from different angles, but why not let your users turn their devices into landscape mode and view full screen? Even your videos are locked to portrait mode. Your website also really can’t handle zooming in.

It’s a great app, and I got an apartment out of it. A bit annoying when the landlord said I could never have a guest over for any reason… But other than that it has been good. Spotahome itself works well, except the interface can be absolutely terrible. The buttons at the top left and right – – you have to press them about 10 times times for it to work.

I try to change my booking and cancel it and it won’t let me…

This is my first time for booking a short term rental from
this app. I found chat with the agents helpful and polite.

On iPhone 14, iOS 17.4.1, the back button on upper left corner does not function as expected. I suspect touch point is not active.

It’s been very helpful to find housing abroad ( USA to Spain) hasn’t crashed and easy to use. Definitely a plus to use when looking for and ideal place to live
