Amino Acid Quiz Reviews

If you are planning to take the MCAT, you want to keep practicing with AminoAcidQuiz to help keep you on track with memorizing these. I have been doing this for 3 days so far and I have memorized about 17 of them already. 3 of them I have 90% mastery. When you see the structures, you will get very familiar with it. Very great app to work on before going to bed. Keeps you on track

It’s free, but even though the ads aren’t obtrusive, I bought the paid version on the first day because I already loved it so much. It’s so helpful to be able to choose what you want each side of the card to be. I haven’t tried the other apps for learning amino acids, but I cannot imagine a better format.

AminoAcidQuiz is great and it helped me in Biochemistry tremendously, thank you, BUT THERE ARE ERRORS with the classification of Side-chain Classes. I.e. the correct answer is Polar but AminoAcidQuiz marks the correct answer as nonpolar. The rest of AminoAcidQuiz is good, no errors with the other features! Good to note that I haven’t checked the feature asking for CODONS so unsure if there are errors there. All the others are fine, thank you :).

Need to learn these for Bio/Chem and the MCAT and I basically memorized all of the structures within the hour using AminoAcidQuiz. Like the other reviewers, although it is free to use and the ads are non intrusive whatsoever, purchased it just because I wanted to support the creators! Thank you for making such an easy to use app!

AminoAcidQuiz has all the info you’ll ever need to know about amino acids. The timer and high score feature makes me competitive and want to keep playing. This is the only app I have ever written a review for, so you know it must be good

AminoAcidQuiz provides the option to mix and match structure, name, 3 letter abbreviations, 1 letter abbreviations, and codons. It also times you to incentivize mastery. My only recommendation would be to include pKa values and a way to quiz what the structures look like at various pH. Regardless, easily the best amino acid app on AminoAcidQuiz store.

AminoAcidQuiz is so good for learning everything about the amino acids! However, I found a small error. It says Cysteine is no polar, when it is polar. Just a heads up!

Huge help for learning and review. I recalled amino acids more quickly than my peers both in undergrad and grad school. AminoAcidQuiz made amino acids the least stressful part of Biochem!

Great app but there is a bug on the results page after doing a quiz. it is showing arginine (arg) as one of the ones i was quizzed on when it should show tyrosine. Upon clicking on it, it does show the info for tyrosine. not sure if this error is happening in some other similar cases. Great app otherwise.

I’ve been using AminoAcidQuiz a LOT trying to memorize my amino acids, it’s insanely amazing. It’s free but I paid for it to support! Just quickly... Cysteine is polar but on AminoAcidQuiz it is non-polar. Only thing I’ve noticed!

Great way to review amino acids for the MCAT. Gives immediate feedback and stats so you can focus on areas of weakness. 10/10 would recommend for any biochem or premed students out there!

Solid interface, good for studying. Be aware, in AminoAcidQuiz the side chain of cysteine is classified as non polar. If you are using this to study for MCAT however, I believe AAMC classifies it as polar. This is not a black or white classification, do some research, but be aware.

AminoAcidQuiz saved my life and helped me learn properties and structures of amino acids. Please do yourself a favor and throw those flash cards into a volcano where they belong and download AminoAcidQuiz ASAP

Learn’t last minute I needed to know all 20 amino acids for an exam. I now know them perfectly. Thank you.

One way AminoAcidQuiz can be improved is to also include the pKa values for testing.

A Hide Answers option would be helpful

I tried to report a mistake in AminoAcidQuiz to the developer, but cannot seem to find the correct spot. Anyways, AminoAcidQuiz is amazing, but there is a mistake with Cysteine: the card says it has a nonpolar side chain, but it is in fact polar. Please keep that in mind.

This is great for practicing and not forgetting amino acids. It’s not designed in a way to learn them. You need to know them first. but that is why it’s called a quiz!
The only thing I wish it had more was the PKA’s of the side-chains.
Overall a good app though!

This is a must have app for you BioChemistry course. Easy. On-the-go review. Don’t use app and drive at the same time. App it too addictive.

Good app, except for one very annoying thing. AminoAcidQuiz says that Cysteine is non-polar. That is WRONG. Cysteine is a NEUTRAL POLAR AMINO ACID. I hate when I pick the right option for cysteine and it tells me it’s wrong. Please fix this. Makes it hard to study

Honestly, it helped so much when it came to studying for Biochem! One recommendation though, maybe had a pk value section!

Studying for the MCAT and AminoAcidQuiz is so helpful. Love the new update with polarities. AminoAcidQuiz runs so smoothly and it’s nice to really test your knowledge on the amino acids.

Just do the quiz for a bit every morning and you’ll learn the amino acids. I recommend getting this at the beginning of the quarter/semester but I’m currently cramming for a final.
