DownTube - Music for youtube Reviews

When I got DownTube I was like I can finally search my music and videos in the background which is great but recently DownTube has had a some major flaws and bugs that hasn’t been fixed.
*While videos are suppose to play in the background sometimes when I play the video and then leave DownTube to go to something else like the internet or whatever DownTube doesn’t play it in the background.
*It gets annoying when I have to keep searching for videos that actually want to play in the background because a lot of them now won’t play in the background.
*Not only that but DownTube sometimes at least for me freezes here or there.
* The music that I play doesn’t show up in the lock screen or where it shows what song in playing at the moment. It would be cool if it showed up there so it would be easier than having to keep going back to DownTube every time you want to see what song is playing.
* when I play a song in the background it doesn’t skip to the next at all when it’s over. It’s annoying when I keep having to go back to DownTube to skip my song constantly.
* sometimes when I skip a song it doesn’t even skip it just sits there for a few then maybe it might skip or I have to skip it again.
* There should be a shuffle button at the top of playlist instead of below a video after you click on one in a playlist.
****please fix the bugs and flaws it be great!

DownTube is a lifesaver. I can finally listen to easy to search music without needing to pay a dumb subscription to do so, which is great. BUT, one big issue is for some reason, anytime I try to search something up under "playlists" DownTube crashes! It's a pretty big flaw on an otherwise perfect app because if I want to listen to music in the background, chances are I want to do so on a playlist so I can just listen to a string of music I know I like while I'm doing something else. I don't know if this is an iOS 9 thing or what but I'd greatly appreciate to see it get fixed.

UPDATE: well, turns out I CAN look up playlists but only if I make really short searches. still a problem but at least I know it's not 100% broken

First of all thank you for this fantastic app that works seamlessly!

Love it!

One super useful feature would be if you could edit the order of music in a playlist.

As it is now when you add a song to a playlist it goes underneath the last one but sometimes you want to adjust the order.

Just like the Apple playlist way you hold your finger on it and move the song up or down in the playlist where ever you might want it.

Thank you again for this terrific app which I think can only get better with this new feature that I think others would find useful as well.

When I first got DownTube, it worked pretty well. But later on there was a lot of problems.

1. It wasn’t a problem before, but lately my music will stop after the song plays. I have to open DownTube for my playlist to continue.

2. While playing music I can not exit out. If I do, the music will stop playing. It worked before and I could easily leave DownTube without the music stopping. Suddenly it just stopped working.

3. I don’t know if it’s related to DownTube or not but either way I’ll put it in. I usually have two music apps in case one doesn’t work. When I downloaded DownTube nothing strange really happen. It wasn’t until I opened my other music app that I first came upon this problem. Basically whenever I opened the other music app, it would kick me out. No matter what or how many times I tried, DownTube always kicked me out. This has never happened before. It would only happen with the other music app, no other apps were affected. Again, I’m not 100% sure if this problem is because of this app. I only began having this issue after I downloaded DownTube. Coincidence?

It used to work & be perfectly fine when I am at home but when I’m at other pleases
That have good WiFi it won’t work for some reason. It’ll only work on days & sometimes it doesn’t work at all. It’ll keep loading even when I have it on paused it will still have the loading thing still moving. It’ll say it playing on my lock screen but I hear no music and when I go to DownTube the song is still loading. I tried deleting DownTube to refresh it I even turned my phone off and turned it back on that’s worked before btw and now it just won’t work. Please please please fix this bug I really love DownTube for music!!

I was so excited to learn that there was an app that did not shut off when not the open primary window! I was a bit confused initially when reading that there were so many different experiences from ppl who were using the same app. I now see why that happened. DownTube acts one way one day and another the next, etc. Currently I’m dealing with the music stopping when my computer/phone is not open and active. Moreover, sometimes the music plays when not the primary window and in a minute or so and nothing that I can see has changed, the music stops advancing once the song ends. It’s very unpredictable.

So for some reason recently DownTube isn’t showing the play button on my lock screen anymore. That and when I turn on repeat, it doesn’t loop automatically if my phone is locked—I have to unlock and open DownTube each time I want it to repeat.

The biggest one might be that quite often for some reason when I’m off WiFi, it never loads. Ever. I close and restart DownTube but none of these problems are fixed.

I’m not sure what needs to change or if my experience is isolated..

I don’t know if this is a IOS12 bug or something but DownTube worked for about 10 minutes. I turned on one song, went to play a game and it turned off he music. If you could try to fix this bug it would be great because it’s a pain to pay money for songs just to listen to them when your trying to do something else. Thanks!

UPDATE: Nevermind it works fine now!! Before I gave it 2 stars, now I made it 4 because it still is hard to find things on it :> great app!

DownTube is the best to listen to music and watch videos non but one thing that I have noticed is that when you close DownTube , it stops playing what you are listening to. Also the volume adjustment setting is hard to use. There have been many occasions when I turn the volume all the way up or all the way down. This also happens when i want to minimize the window but end up turning the volume down. And there is no way to add songs to other playlists. Please fix

It’s a great app and apparently the only one that allows me to look up my created playlist without signing in but not ALL playlist. I type in the full name of ones I created and nothing shows up when I search them, mostly new ones I created after getting DownTube . I uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that would help, but still same issue.
Plus it only shows at least 100 videos of playlist. It would be great if it got updated for these issues.

This is a good app, it’s nice when I want to listen to music without having DownTube open so I could go on Google Docs and type something up while this is playing in the background.

This feature has worked fine till now. When I go to another app, it stops playing the music like any other app would. I refreshed DownTube and put the song back on, let DownTube stay on for a while, went to another app and the music stops.

I liked DownTube because I didn’t need to keep DownTube open to keep listening to music, and it’s free to use with only an occasional ad, so for the feature I downloaded DownTube for to stop working is really a bummer.

This is the only problem I have with DownTube , everything else works fine. It’s easy for me to find the music I want and the ads only rarely ever pop up which is good. I just hope this issue doesn’t last forever.

DownTube is good. It saves the battery’s energy and background plays. But things need to be fixed. The video skips to another and actives voice control when it is off in settings. It also does not display video information and video time after selecting it. Please fix these problems as soon as possible in the next upgrade.

for a few days now my music has not been playing at all. I would use it at school and it doesn’t work either. I’ve been thinking that it was just my WiFi , but everything else is working fine it is just my music . I would highly appreciate that you fix this because I got a new phone and typed in every song to add on this phone. It took me almost 2 hours to add everything. But if you still can’t fix this then I will have to delete this and use all my effort to transfer it to a new music app .

I’ve been using DownTube for a couple of days now and I think it’s really cool because you can watch literally ANY video and exit them to go to other apps while still hearing the sounds! But the reason I gave this 4 stars is because it won’t let me listen to my music offline like I thought it would. Other than that I think DownTube is awesome !

DownTube is wonderful and I love it I use it almost everyday but one thing could be fixed. Some feature can be added to make DownTube a whole lot better.
- Able to reorder songs and playlist
- Load more songs when u search
-Fix the skipping 20-25 seconds bug
