great game BUT......

Like I wrote on subject or title. This is a great game met a lot of good people from around the world. This game is a casual game at the beginning while your trying to level up and if you join an alliance. That’s great you get bonus and help sometimes. But once you hit a curtain level I’m not going to make sugar coat it. You are going to be paying to lvl up. Been playing this game for several years now and I have spent a good amount of real money to get to the level I’m at and I’m no where close to max level. Once you hit a curtain level participants is needed for kingdom events and alliance events. And money is also a key factor for boosting and healing and buffs. So if your looking for a game that you do not wish to spend money on then you play this til you reach the point you can not move forward because you have to spend money. Of just chose another game. This game is fun I would have given it a 5 start but the amount of money needed to get stronger is a pain sometimes. Still a fun game and you meet great people

Really fun, really expensive.

At first, as a non-spender, I didn’t really enjoy the game. It was slow pace, most tasks were impractical and it was impossible for me to contribute to the alliance. Somehow, regretfully, I began spending. The game became much, much more fun. It’s extremely competitive when you’re at a higher level of play but most likely because everyone at that level has invested thousands and thousands of dollars. In the last year or so they seemed to have worked on making it more practical and enjoyable to spend a reasonable amount and have an desirable, competitive experience. If you not looking to spend money, or looking for an alternative to a game you’re spending to much money on, for your sake, don’t download. You’ll want to spend to compete and you’ll have to do so in order to compete. This isn’t the type of game you play for a few minutes here and there, you’ll do best with routines and consistency (ie. Everyday at server reset and before work). With that said, as you become more invested the game becomes much, much more fun. I mean it becomes high stakes, it’s like gambling your money but it’s based on consistency and discipline. Of course there’s also no chance of a return...

Poor customer service re:extortion tactics by bullying players

Extortion is regular part of games like these but they have a poor set up in comparison to other games - like no bracket systems for fair level playing or no prestige tiers when overpowered players attack beginning players - like less rewards or loss of prestige/player power for attacking below you. There really are no protections in place for lower players or beginning players where another OP player can demand weekly amounts of resources and either the lower player gets attacked repeatedly or just complies and the game developers reply that it is the lower players fault (their way of saying - your fault you do not pay to level up). Honestly, the game developers/tech support are straight up rude when replying, aside other occasions they gave false/wrong information regarding trouble-shooting bugs in the game. I don’t mind paying for in-app purchases to support games, but the customer support and game developers response to players is a huge turn off. Agree with other reviewers, don’t spend money on this game, it’s possible to advance without it, but especially because of the poor tech support (wrong information proving costly later) and rude customer support - don’t spend the money when their infrastructure is so uneven/unbalanced/uninformed support compared to other game platforms with better systems like brackets or prestige exchanges and better tech/customer support.

Really unfortunate...

This is the first time I’ve decided to review anything in my life. It is unfortunate that it is about a game that I have managed to enjoy for almost 2 years now.

The premise is simple. The game has been dumbed down to the simple-stupid, and has taken the aspect of strategy and control away. You could spend your way to a big castle, but it still took intelligence and strategy to maintain and be formidable. Yes, some of us have choosen “pay for play” but it was also part of a strategy. We became the enforcers of or Kingdoms. However, now with the destruction of mixed marches, over powered guard combinations to effect 1 type of troop, and the general lack of explanation as to how the game now operates under its apparent RNG in battle, it has just become another point and click at best.

I’ll hang around a little while longer, I am heavily invested, but an investment I will gladly let go if something is not changed. The dumbing down of games is always the destruction of them. Hardcore or truly engaged players will become bored and it becomes mundane, which is really where we are now. Log on here and there, go through the motions, but no point in click and pointing. The social aspect with your alliance is really all that is left of what made this game great prior to the last patch.

Do not Download

I’ve had this game for a week and it is a huge cash grab that has no love for what it. When I first saw the adds this looked like a great 1st/3rd person game about leveling up to becoming a king, but without looking at the reviews, or pictures which was a huge mistake, I clicked download and when I first got on, it told me to build a couple buildings, invade a small structure and then it left me without any other explanation, I should also mention that the game is a huge money farm for the developers who make you pay just to win the game. Even with the glitches and crashes the game has that no one at GoG takes any notice of when you send them complaints trying to make the game funner and easier for you and other players who were tricked by this sorry excuse for a good strategy game. And looking at the reviews afterward showed that all the employees who read them only write back saying their sorry for the bad experience and try to turn down the claims with no evidence at all and blaming it on an unnamed advertisement company that doesn’t know what your game is about. And if you corporation Jerks respond to this the same way, it proves that you don’t care about this game and would rather live in a mansion bought with money from players who thought that if they gave you an unreasonable payment, they could find some joy out of this awful game.

Downward spiral of money and attitude

I’ve played this game for 3 months and spent about $100 on purchases. First this game is geared toward causing you to necessitate spending loads of money on gear and speed up. For example, I spent a total of $15 on scholar gems and opulence gear because it take weeks and millions of pieces of iron, wood, food and silver to move up from around castle 18. It would take someone constant attention and months to get there otherwise over castle 20. The new Sun King equipment takes 100 fragments and 1800 rare item chests not to mention thousands of other items to create. How does someone go from a castle 22 to 30 in a week? Well they spends hundreds and thousands using real cash while poor folks spend weeks to make one piece of armor. Also what totally cant stand is the attitude, bullying and general nastiness of this game. Moderators are players too and they can just be as bad. If you enjoy drama, staying on a game all day and getting wiped out constantly by folks that are bigger (there are always bigger fish waiting to kill you) and spending loads of REAL money this is the game for you. Good luck if you indulge and say good bye to many other things in your life due to this game taking you away from reality simply because you are trying to heal the 200k troops you lost because your shield went down while you were driving or you slept too long.

Most pleased

To any who may read this critique I must begin in saying that I am very pleased with this game. It has made hours at home pass by like seconds, and it continues to please me with every new event. It's been but a fortnight since my wheat crop has last been buckled, But, alas my troops continue to rally on empty stomachs. I do write to my dear beloved but I fear that my pigeon has been lost in an epic storm amidst the mountain ranges. Rival lords continue to bedevil me as, my alliance is of little help. It's' of upmost honor that I say I'm searching for a new one. I am soon journeying myself to the far ends of the providence in search of salt, coal, and a tin of yak meat for the children. My hospital staff is more than over run with victims of a Red Coat rampage... Furthermore, with every new event that passes, I grow rich with gold, steel, and peace shields. I've even accumulated somewhat of a surplus. I hope my latest damp hasn't aggravated the beasts whom terrorize the depths of the Catacombs. If I am not to return to my beloved Estate after my quest, please remember these words: *mhm* HEAR YE HEAR YE, download this game cuz it's fun.

Great game!

In this game you can play with out spending, although it helps a great bit. Most of the low star comments are based on people attacking lower castles. However this is in a way false. Yes you can get attacked and lose paid for assets, but they have protective abilities that are able to be bought through in game resources and not just out of pocket. In every game they have bullies and will always be bothersome, but not as bad if you play in a strategic manner. It is a war game so thinking you can sit around and not participate like it isn’t one is not a reason to be upset. Only problem I have with this game is prices for what you actually get. A bit unfair in that aspect. This should be looked at because once you hit a certain castle level prices increase and you do not get enough resources with it. Overall a good game and very fun to play. Make sure you get an alliance because it truly helps. Yes smaller ones will be targeted, but as I said many ways to protect your stuff with shields and putting resources into storage.
(Stored items will not be used or able to be plundered)

Charging your card for thing they don’t give you.

I have played this game for years. Spent a lot of my money playing. I was looking through my charges in April and I found a charge that they have been charging me for, but I had not been receiving the pack. I reported it to them. There team writes you back telling you they are looking into it but it is hard to track the problem. Then they delete your ticket with the problem unresolved. They tell you it is against there teams of use for you to go through anyone but them to get things fixed and will ban your account for going to Apple for help. I gave them three months with no word on a fix. On top of that every month the same charge repeats itself. So they have charged me for 60$ I have never received the in game product for. That I have found so far. In waiting to contact Apple because I like the game and wanted to continue playing Apple now says the time for me to get some of the money refunded to me has passed and I can not be refunded. I really enjoyed playing this game. Just so everyone knows that being said I would advise you to stay away from it they will scam you of your money. Then when you catch them try to delay you long enough that Apple will not help you with the problem.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

Honestly do not download this game. You will find friends here and it will keep you from quitting until you realize that gog is milking you for every penny you have. Also if you have a customer service issue, good luck! Lol. I had an issue open and they gave me cut and paste responses, then when I came back angry they said they needed time for the devs to look into my issue. I waited, sent another message and they said they still needed time for an issue like mine. Next thing I know they closed the ticket a couple days later with no resolution. I opened a new one and got nothing but deflection. DO NOT DOWNLOAD. You can’t even really play unless you pay, can’t shield without paying, definitely can’t kill without paying. I’ve wasted so much money and I remember seeing the reviews that said the same thing about do not download cause it’s ridiculously expensive...I ignored it and had willpower to not spend much for about 2 months. Now what I’ve paid a fortune for can be gotten for free in the game. Devaluation is a serious issue, it’s overpriced, and they rely on the social element to keep you hooked. Beyond the social factor it can be pretty boring even. And the stats are stupidly uneven. For context, I’ve been playing this game for over a year. Yes, I am a fool.

love this game

I am not the video game type of girl but this game appeals to so many different intelligence levels and has totally swept me off my feet. It requires skill, communication, relationship building, trust building, ability to work as a team member, honor, dignity, courage, love, passion, psychological understanding, teaching, learning and opening your whole self. Since it\'s a war game there is also plenty of Smack Talk and back and Forth Fun bicker between opponents and this can be the most entertaining aspect at times, especially after you just intensely used your mind to fight a big battle!!! The Bonds and friends ships I have made with people all over the world are amazing. My ONLY ISSUE IS THAT I AM A PRINCESS IN REALM 250 and I play with plenty of other Females!! ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US GIRLY GIRLS WHO LOVE TO KILL VIRTUAL TROOPS PLEASE GIVE US A PINK CASTLE OPTION TO CHOSE FROM ONCE WE GET TO THE HIGHER LEVELS!!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO CALL IT THE PRINCESS PINK:-) I think if it were an option to use as an UPGRADE THIS WOULD BE A HUGE SELLER!! Thank you!! (ASL)The~Princess Realm 250 I would Appreciate feedback or comments if possible!!! Thank you!!!

FALSE ADVERTISING

Any ad I have seen for this game has been completely fake. Do not think your playing some Age of Empires mixed with Elder Scrolls style game. You have two screens, your home base and the larger map area (maybe some other options screens). Also right now that first video on GunsofGlory Store is just fake. However the screenshots in GunsofGlory Store are pretty accurate, however every single ad I have seen for this game has made it look like something completely different. This also is the EXACT same game as Mafia City and King of Avalon. There are probably more games that have been copied and pasted like this one. Minimal creativity and extremely disappointing. It is absolutely not alright to lead people on with completely misrepresented gameplay in ads linking to this terrible crap. Clearly the people falsifying the advertising know what people want to actually play....so why is the game not exactly like what the ads lead you to believe. The advertising campaign for these games is impressive, clearly people are falling for it, then settling for a subpar game. I am not. I am extremely disappointed and feel like I have been mislead by false ads making this game look much cooler than it really is. Don’t give these people money or your time. This is just terrible.

So much potential wasted

Let me begin with what the game does well. The social aspect is a big part of the game. Many players remain because of the friendships created.
The events are imaginative and some are even fun. Most of them become quickly boring and the rewards not worth the effort.
My number one complaint is the game is Pay 2 Win. Those willing to spend enormous amounts of money will always win and make everyone else’s life miserable. Obviously, those willing to really learn the game are able to mitigate some of this. But, a lot of time and money is spent trying to be a little competitive.
Now comes my biggest complaint and the reason many leave the game. The events have rewards that only service lower level characters/accounts. If you play in an event and spend hard earned money and sacrifice time, many times you lose all the rewards you earned when they close the event. No time is given to collect rewards even though the event lasts until closing. You will find your inventory full of reward tokens that will never be redeemed. And, to add to the frustration, each event of the same type, they change the tokens to keep you from saving for a better reward.

Ok game, very expensive

I like the theme of the game and strategy. However, these are over shadowed by how expensive it is to play…and like others have said…it is pay to win. If you don’t mind spending thousands of dollars on a virtual game, this is for you. That’s the problem, any strategy you come up with in battle can simply be overcome by another player who has spent a lot more than you to build up their power stats…and the game is developed to where EVERYTHING costs money. It does have freebies, but they are in regards to having any real power to compete…so most players stay because of the friendships they develop. Also, there’s no real way to stop powerful players from being abusive to where the game is no longer enjoyable. This suggests that constant warring between people and alliances is subtly encouraged…once again…to get you to spend money. If you don’t spend, you’ll constantly be easy behind. I’ve been praying for over three years now and simply stopped spending. I’d rather invest in building a real life castle than to spend thousands building a virtual one.

No end in sight

When I first started playing guns of glory it was a really cool game unlike game of war. That was a year ago. Now that a year has passed by the developer has yanked the rug from under us. The constant changes will take a toll on a lot of us players. They force you to buy small packs before eventually offering the bigger packs. I’ve written them a number of times on this issue. I won’t hesitate to pull the plug if these issues continue. I like the game but the constant changes within the game is a real negative. Something new comes out every month it feels like. You can’t enjoy the game when something new constantly comes out. It has turned into a real money grab game. Customer service is bad, they treat you as if you’re lying or trying to steal a purchase. It use to be a time you could rely on apple support to refund you but their customer service is just as bad. I recently quit gog and now I’m playing a new game that I enjoy. It’s not as expensive and I don’t have to buy my packs from Apple. I will never give Apple or gog another dime for anything. So Apple you can get that 30% from gog from now on baby. I was a heavy spender but I do more constructive things with my money now........

Found out the bad way

I played this game for a little over a week, don’t get me wrong when I first got it I was obsessed and played it every chance I got. Spent a little bit of cash on it to help build up things fir my base. Made a few game friends and it was fun! Next thing I knew the friends were missing and not responding. Soon after while I was at work I was getting blown up in my notifications but I had no idea because I had my phone on silent. Little did I know another base had attacked my whole kingdom. When I went to try and defend myself all my troops were gone. I’m saying 60k troops that took me over a week of constant game play to get, long hours. When I tried to revive my troops there was no way unless I have 3500 gold. And gold in this game does not come easy. Unless you spend real money to get it. No way am I spending $100s of dollars on a game just to protect my base... sorry no. So long story short all that waisted time played and my base was getting destroyed with no way to protect it. Decided it was best to just delete the game and give a bad review saying that I do not recommend getting this game and wasting your time and or money just to lose everything anyway! ✌🏻

Poor customer service. Convoluted extortion.

I wrote customer service repeatedly about items that had disappeared during the software upgrades and they were unwilling to address the problem. It turned out the items that disappeared were now only available for cash purchase (as opposed to regular effort and a little bit of money) so they were unwilling to replace them. Furthermore each subsequent update takes items that were previously able be earned through game play and makes them only available for purchase.
This game burns your battery faster than any other program I have run including every map/gps application. This makes me wonder what it is really doing in the background.
Gameplay also covers your screen with dancing icons of perhaps 5 advertisements of the latest power ups you can buy. And now sends you emails on the latest “Easter sale” on in-game purchases. It’s covered in pop ups and notifications on what to buy.
Almost amusing it the latest update where there are at least 3 notifications that lead to nothing however they cannot be disabled or “read”. I assume they will fix that in the next update unless people finally discontinue playing all together.

Free to play, pay to win

Typical strategy game that’s free but that you need to pay to level up and win. As the game has progressed, this has only been more prevalent and actually gotten worse. Constantly having updates to push new stuff and get you to spend. They have done nothing lately for the free players, and have not made any types of prestige levels or tiers that reward you for time spent on the game, furthering the gap between free players and spenders. Developers have so many opportunities to improve game play, especially for their free players...but of course, is all about money. You could spend thousands on this game and still be nowhere near the top.

Furthermore, the support is horrible. Had an issue that was an obvious game glitch. Ended up losing a ton, contacted support and they told me, we looked and no error occurred. Despite me sending screen shots, exact times, and that many others were affected as well. Not willing to help, compensate me, or even admit there was an issue. Very frustrated. They were rude and dismissive as well. And I’m one of the spenders, I can’t imagine what they do to those that don’t have any money invested.

My advice...stay away.

Not bad, nice graphics

As usual there’s no way to really compete at the top level without spending real money, which I won’t do... nature of the beast, I get it, but my main objection is that there seems to be no relationship between how large one builds an army and the ability to defend your castle from attacks... somebody just shows up with a slightly larger army, takes your stuff and gets off scot free with zero casualties... apparently the massive army I bothered building was just slaughtered while asleep... be sure not to access resources until you’re ready to spend them... also hugely expensive to add resources beyond a certain point... not really possible without spending so I won’t bother... I’ve deleted GunsofGlory twice in frustration and only come back due to pandemic boredom... basically amusing until castle level 20 then don’t bother unless you plan to shell out the coin... side adventures mostly confusing and repetitive but can add resources... honestly not interested enough to try figuring out how the guards skills work... not really self explanatory...

Great game but long time

I want to point out, all the people who say this game is bad are wrong.I have been playing this game for 3 months now and have spent about $50 on this game. The prices are great but sometimes it just takes to long to build something. To make one demon hunter coat it takes a week. I understand this equipment is strong, but 1 week is too excessive. I plan to play guns of glory for a long time. Events are also a great way of getting resources and gold. In one I got over 10K! Many people have complained about the advertisements being false. This is true and maybe GoG can change this,(it my also save time on you responses)Lastly I would like to mention speed ups. These are way too expensive. It is almost Impossible to get past level 15 because of the long time. Some people can manage but some cannot. I recommend lowering the time or even maybe making it cheaper to buy a speed up for gold.
Thank you developers you did a great job!

Why I play

It’s not the devs, (never in the history of war has artillery been so useless), or the loose Basis on the Dumas literary universe (can a brother get a break the count of monte Cristo out of jail event please). It’s the people you met, and friends you make. will the rich oppress the poor sometimes, just like in life. I spend money in game but nothing compared to the top guys in our kingdom. If you are starting out go to a new kingdom, old kingdoms will be hard to start in unless you know someone. Do the events if you are not spending money, you won’t be the strongest but can still have fun. Just saying, more of a fantasy strategy mmo than just a war strategy game.

Thought I would edit to say about half the low ratings are from people who have either never played, or never really played. With just in game events, catacombs, and the spirit, with two farms I upgraded from c35 to c39 with no rss help. The badges were a different story but with trading from farms to raise bounties I was surprised how little I paid. I got rss help for c40 from some awesome friends. Guessing the one stars are unpleasant people.

The customer service AI is the worst, and fun plus for some reason gives them a good review, for that I need to drop my rating. CS can’t do anything about people cheating or using hacks.

Typical Strategy Game

Just like the title says this is just your typical strategy game. I’m giving it five stars because well I enjoy it and plus I’ve been playing it for a year. Don’t look at the pictures that they show above it’s nothing like that one of those fake ads. So recently this game has become extremely paid to win like all the rest of the phone games. But I’ve met a lot of good people so that’s the reason why I stay. Bunch of new events are coming out but on the downside they throw out new gear every few weeks so it’s extremely hard to keep up. But they got to make money so you know typical. So if you wanna good gaming experience buy a console and get a different game most phone games just pass the time anyways. This one I’ve grown attached to cause of the people I have met. The long one star reviews are probably the people that are complaining on Facebook about this game, the short ones from the people that played this game for three days and left. So all in all if you want to meet some good people hopefully try it out it’s a fun game.
