After one week of using got stuck on…

Got stuck on “on switch” on every web page after one week of use and had to delete TurnOfftheLights because the options page wouldn’t even open. I have a lot of tech experience. I have programmed before. I have worked out kinks in websites with my old college tech support when they needed help. Could not figure out how to troubleshoot and get it to work even after deleting and reinstalling or turning it off and on in the safari extensions menu. The website still wouldn’t pull up and let me change the options to even see why it was stuck on so I couldn’t see any of my webpages because they were all greyed out when I have TurnOfftheLights installed. Needs troubleshooting on the developers end and then I will update my review.

??

Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out how to darken the web 😭😭 uninstalled immediately. Complicated. Too complicated. Tried to watch a video on how to enable “dark mode profile” and still failed to do it. That’s all I want…is web dark mode. Guess i’ll have to go buy an extension.

Completely broken

Doesn’t do anything. Perms, settings etc is all correctly enabled. Broken unsupported project. Already deleted from my existence.

Didn't download app

Hello I never asked for TurnOfftheLights and didn't want TurnOfftheLights on my iPhone since I don't use this Safari when I am using MicroSoft Edge and Safari doesn't support for what I do

Dims Screen only

The extension only puts a dark filter over the webpage and then anytime you click on something on the screen it removes the dark filter and iit becomes bright white again.

Broken on macOS 14

Just tried this extension on macOS 14 and Safari 17. The extension seems to be broken; after installation an error message appeared ("service_worker encountered a problem" or something to that extent). Every site I visited is shown as-is and not in a dark theme as advertised. Uninstalled this immediately.

Does what it says

It does turn out the lights. However, with Safari it just puts a dark filter over top of the page. It makes the text underneath hard to read, so it is basically worthless.

Won't Stay On

Every time I leave or reload a website, the dark mode turns off and I have to click the switch again. I do not want something that will keep turning itself off and blinding me over and over. Not useful at all.

I mean - it just doesnt work

Fiddled around for about 20 minutes and it’s inconsistent at best. Simple task should require much effort on the user, dont waste your time. Find an alternative

Okay at best, cludgy and annoying at worst

Ridiculous methodology to get to options. Why aren’t they directly available in TurnOfftheLights and/or safari directly?
-2 Stars
Pfft, I have to leave safari, open TurnOfftheLights , hit options, go BACK to safari and try 20 times to get the http formatted correctly to get the effect I want.

+1 for the level of customizability, but the confounded methods of getting to all the settings takes it back off again. If “Dark Night” had better customized options other than “on” or “off” I’d use it exclusively over TurnOfftheLights. Far better usability.

And don’t get me started on annoying me to review TurnOfftheLights . That alone knocks stars off. Any app that bugs me every time i open it or interact with it gets multiple stars taken off when I eventually do get around to rating and reviewing the application

Quality Dropped Overtime

When iOS 15 was first released, this extension was one of the only dark mode available for safari. TurnOfftheLights has aged poorly over time and unfortunately, there are a lot of better apps out there now. One of the main issues is in order to have dark mode enabled on webpages. You have to have a giant toggle that blocks the webpage. Great app when it started when it was one of a kind but is out beat by the competition.

Full Screen better

What am I missing?
Does the Full-screen feature not default to entire screen when displaying movies, eliminate all the background windows, images, and menus?

Morning wakes

Always the time that is the hardest to see the moment your see the truth that there day is new and there is nothing to look forward to but the switch of a light going off to know there is only looking towards that stitch not wanting to use it but that to me is that moment that make me dread the most

Great dark mode

Great extension for dark mode. I like the customizations you can do with the texts however there’s two annoyances that I have with this. The first one is the dark mode switch that’s on the lower left hand corner. It’s too big and there’s no option to get rid of it. This needs to be more of an option in the address bar if you want to switch on and off. The second is that when going in a website when you have the settings in automatic dark mode the page is white for a brief second then goes into dark mode. If there’s a way to get it dark just before the page loads that would be great.

Good app.

I have sensitive eyes, so even with a warm screen tone activated and screen brightness turned down to minimal, some websites still hurt my eyes. TurnOfftheLights helps greatly with that!

Works like a charm!

I had an issue where Google (in Safari) kept ignoring my preferences for dark mode. After downloading this and having it be in charge, I have had no problems. TurnOfftheLights works great and solved an annoyance that I’ve been dealing with for months. Also, as a note, please read all their instructions and watch the videos that pertain to you. Most of the bad reviews likely would have been solved by just paying attention.

Great app, even better developer

The v4.5 update caused an issue with night mode. I reported it to the developer and within a day, he had released an update (4.5.4) that fixed it. Love TurnOfftheLights and the developer!

Love!

With the increased use of technology and screens, my migraines that were once manageable have become frequent. With turn off the light, I find that my migraines have become more manageable once again.

Learning

One of the best apps, I’ve ever tried that’s right that's right One of the best apps, ever !!
