Official Black Wall Street Reviews

After hearing about OfficialBlackWallStreet this morning, I wanted to support it. Unfortunately, OfficialBlackWallStreet doesn't seem to work very well. I tried using my location to find businesses near me twice and OfficialBlackWallStreet crashed both times. I also tried to just search businesses in my city and it just got stuck on searching and never showed me the results. OfficialBlackWallStreet could be very beneficial, hopefully it gets improved soon.

Operation of OfficialBlackWallStreet doesn’t live up to expectations. Search function is clunky with invalid returns. Submitted my veterinarian’s office 3 weeks ago and it still hasn’t been added. Some searches kick users out of app and closes app entirely. I’m actually disappointed given the importance of the name the company chose to use. Hope it improves. Deleted app but will be check back in a few months to see if issues are resolved. Looking for to replace it with more stable apps with similar target audience.

I absolutely love the idea of a “one stop shop” to locate Black-owned businesses wherever you are. After reading the reviews, I noticed that most of them were two years old! They contained very good suggestions on how OfficialBlackWallStreet could be improved, but as I read the more recent reviews, the same suggestions are still being offered. Are the developers not paying attention to the users’ comments?

My issue is every time I try to log in to OfficialBlackWallStreet , I get a message that says my iPhone is not connected to the internet...problem is, I’m not using an iPhone to use OfficialBlackWallStreet !

I REALLY want to use OfficialBlackWallStreet, and I want to encourage my friends to use it as well, but until its issues are addressed/resolved, I won’t. I will not delete it from my devices, and will check back periodically to see if progress is being made.

I set my location in settings, searched my state name only and kept getting businesses in California, Maryland, Virginia, all over the country. And what’s more, it would be one thing to advertise businesses that had something you could by online, but I was getting gyms, restaurants, like brick and mortar places. It makes no sense.

I love your instagram and the idea behind OfficialBlackWallStreet is exactly what we need!!!

An idea to make it easier to find black owned business in your location would be to have the search feature integrated with the location based map. For example, I’m in Chicago looking to eat at a black owned restaurant tonight so I go to the map but have to scroll through tons of lawyers, realtors, etc b/c there’s no search functionality. Then I go to the search section and type in restaurant only to realize it’s not utilizing the location based feature so it’s showing me restaurants in Dallas, NYC, Atlanta, etc.

I’m very excited for OfficialBlackWallStreet and it’s ability to provide visibility of black owned businesses. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I’ll keep it downloaded and keep my fingers crossed for any enhancements down the line 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

There aren’t that many businesses that come up between San Francisco and San Mateo county. But for one that does, Hazel Southern Bar & Kitchen in San Francisco, the information link doesn’t work. When you click on it, it kicks you out of OfficialBlackWallStreet . When I click on the information link for other businesses, the info page loads with no problem.

So far I’ve loved OfficialBlackWallStreet and the idea behind it but after a few months of using it, OfficialBlackWallStreet has suddenly crapped the bed and I can’t figure out what the deal is. I’ll log in like normal but I’ll get the “ hang on we’re loading a few things” message and it’ll be stuck like that forever. If I you guys could jump on an update to correct this issue then we’d be back in business but until then I’ll have to give it 3 stars.

Just keeps telling me I’m near “Sweetie Pies CLOSED.” That restaurant I think closed a couple years ago so maybe it’s time to remove it from OfficialBlackWallStreet !? Ir wasn’t even that close to me, it was 2-3 miles away from where I get the notification. Every morning driving my kids to school I get a notification SWEETIE PIES CLOSED. I get it! Plus it’s like the most famous black owned business in STL, Thank you,Oprah. I don’t need to be reminded of it, even if it WAS still open.

This is a great idea and I want to use OfficialBlackWallStreet. There aren’t many businesses listed near me. There are a lot of businesses in many categories that I know are black owned. I should be able to share the contact information from google. Then all you have to do is confirm that it’s black owned and add it. The way that the entry works for adding a business, I need to add an email which isn’t readily known and I can’t even use the paste function for all categories (eg phone number). I suggest you make it easier to enter businesses as I described above or you enlist the help of ppl in the know in different cities and give them different ability to post. That will make this a much more valuable site.

I really like OfficialBlackWallStreet , but I want to be able to search on the map. I put in parameters of where I am looking, but when looking in New York, NY, that is a huge amount of ground to cover. I would like the opportunity to look at a specific neighborhood I may be traveling to. A “search this area” function would be ideal. Also, when recommending a business be listed, they don’t always have all forms of contact info (phone, e-mail and website). Would be nice if these weren’t required to submit.

First and foremost, when I first heard about OfficialBlackWallStreet through Essence magazine I was ecstatic and downloaded it right away. By when I looked for businesses in my area/state (Colorado), there was only one business that appeared and I know there are many more businesses. Please add more results if possible, I would be more than happy to volunteer information on some as well.

Great app, so in love with this idea. I will keep app although I can not find businesses in my area. I’m still going to support black businesses however I can.

I love supporting OUR businesses cause if we don’t who will. However I know we don’t do a good job of putting our businesses out there. I hurriedly downloaded OfficialBlackWallStreet once I read an article about online.

Love the concept and I am still learning how to work OfficialBlackWallStreet . I plan on using everywhere I go as a way to seek out places to patronize. I also like the fact that you try to include every facet of the work world and not just restaurants and clubs or bars.

The concept of OfficialBlackWallStreet is everything as I would prefer to support the business of others who look like me. However, there are several bug issues that don’t allow me to use this. Part of it being the screen is condensed, not sure if it’s because I have the X or what, but I can’t see the bottom of the screw when I’m looking for specific type of business and I eventually just go to yelp! Please please fix!

I think this is a great concept. Easy to navigate. The only problem is OfficialBlackWallStreet shuts down a little too much.

When will this ever finish loading? I’ve used it once, and now this message is the only thing I get out of it now.

Back to OfficialBlackWallStreet we know and love. Discovered a new business to check out. Keep adding them!

August 2020: I’m giving this 5 STARS because I see the potential. OfficialBlackWallStreet has shut down every time I click on a page. Im sure once I can get past that, it will be a great and useful app.

I search Yelp for black owned businesses but didn’t find many. Found this website and app and it’s awesome. And I found some of my favorite restaurants listed also. Shared it on FB and hope everyone downloads it!!

Gave a 5 star rating because I love the concept but I haven't had a chance to use OfficialBlackWallStreet . It says "one sec...while we load a few things!" & that's the most I've seen of OfficialBlackWallStreet. I have deleted & downloaded it again & even got friends to download & have ran into the same issue. Please fix this bug so I can support my brothers & sisters!

OfficialBlackWallStreet has helped me to learn about the hidden gems in my neighborhood and alerts me to more Black Businesses when I travel. I’m so grateful to the founders for taking on the work of our ancestors who forcefully had to create directories of Black businesses so our people could know where they could go when they travelled to other states during segregation. The founders of OBWS created a modern-day version of that in this much needed app! I’m loving it!

Only black owned directory I use or care for. Needed a lot more developers on it. A lot of force closing issues lately. Easy to upload businesses and you really do get notifications when you’re in range of certain ones. Please keep pushing it and updating it. I don’t want OfficialBlackWallStreet to die. This could really be IT.

Three starts because I love the idea but I can’t seem to be able to log in. It keeps telling me something went wrong and I’m never able to get any further. Plus I wish there were more businesses listed. I literally only see one option for my whole state and my state is huge. Please consider updating and adding more businesses.

I love OfficialBlackWallStreet. Every time I drive in different areas it let me know who is there, name of the company, website, address and phone number. This is the best app ever.

I am a black owned business listed with OBWS. I would like to spend more advertising dollars, but I hesitate because the site in confusing and difficult to use. The advertising choices are all expensive. The strange, brick looking ad space that you get for the lowest ad price is very unappealing. The founder of OBWS has admitted to major glitches in the seller platform and said in a recent email they are not accepting new business members until the problems are ironed out. However, I am still seeing businesses being featured on the site and they still seem to be selling ads. I am trying to remain supportive and hopeful, but I will not spend any more money with them until they get their act together.
