No Transparency

I haven’t even tried Nikola . This review is because of the way Nikola tries to get you pay. There is no clear information about the fees. So you may think Nikola is free. Then you download Nikola and on first step he asks for your Tesla credentials before showing anything else. Now that he got your email and access to your Tesla account, he will hit you with the price that you MUST sign up or you can’t even access Nikola . The trial period that he offers is 7 days, but that’s also provided to you AFTER you give your credit card information. Because he already got your name and email, he automatically adds you to his mailing list and start sending you marketing emails, even if you don’t sign up and you delete Nikola immediately (which I did). So, basically, unless you give him your Tesla account access AND your credit card information, you get nothing from Nikola. But he gets your data to use for God knows what else in addition to marketing. Nikola features may be good (I don’t know because I didn’t give him my credit card info) but because the process is not honest, I don’t trust this type of people or companies.

Best Tesla App Available! HIGHLY RECOMMEND ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wish I could give more than a five star rating for Nikola. First and foremost, the developer is an extremely nice individual who takes a genuine interest in making sure Nikola is always at its best. He is extremely hands on with it, and each time Nikola updates, you get more cool features to use! Nikola is not only fun to use, it is genuinely interesting and extremely useful for anyone who owns a Tesla!

Several days ago I accidentally left one of my windows down when I parked my car, and I had just arrived at the Doctor’s when I got a notification that I had left the window all the way down. Well, I obviously ran back to my car quick and rolled it up and then went to my Doctor appointment. When I came back outside after my appointment it was POURING down rain!! I let out a huge sigh of relief that I got the notification when I did, otherwise I could’ve had a lot of damage to the inside of my car.

Most people, including myself, would give just Nikola an easy 5-star rating by itself, but when you add on how knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated the Developer is, you really can’t ask for anything more!

100% RECOMMEND ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Simple, informative, and beautiful graphics

I’ve tried several other apps but find this one to be nearly perfect for what I was looking for. I found it to be informative with its data and reports as well as simple to understand the way things were laid out. I am also an Apple Watch user and find the watch interface very useful. Whenever I’ve had questions or suggestions, Nikola developer has been quick to respond and eager to help.

Thanks for a great app and I can’t wait to see how it continues to be improved on an already great product!

Misrepresentation

I absolutely hate apps that don’t clearly state upfront that they are not free, which even reading details before installing didn’t make clear in this case; the way it was presented, it was reasonable to expect that subscription to additional features was OPTIONAL. I don’t care how much others praise Nikola, in fact the top comment in Nikola store admits to knowing the developer.

Because this was such misrepresentation which I only fully discovered after having given Nikola my Tesla account credentials, I have no trust whatsoever and immediately deleted Nikola and will have to change my Tesla password.

I installed STATS long ago and absolutely love it, but the huge difference is I knew ahead of time of Nikola ’s cost.

This app really enhances the Tesla experience!

this app gives you a lot of valuable information about your Tesla, including usage, efficiency, charging history, and much more, all in an easy to use and intuitive presentation. The new Apple Watch complication is a real bonus, allowing you to find your car by flashing the lights or honking the horn, and unlocking it if you inadvertently left your key in the car. The developer is very responsive to comments and suggestions. Highly recommended!

Best 3rd Party Tesla App

I’ve had a couple aftermarket Tesla apps and this one is far and away the leader of the pack. Where to begin… this keeps track of your trip and charger data so you can see your stats over time and export a report. Great to have for reselling also for better health. The widget is the icing on the cake, love having my car on my Home Screen! Also the Apple Watch app is amazing. The dev actually listened to user ideas and implements them as well. 10/10. If you have a Tesla GET Nikola!

Excellent

I’ve downloaded a handful of apps to supplement the official Tesla app and I can say without a doubt that this app has been my best experience thus far.

The information translated from my car to Nikola is effective and presented beautifully. The addition of the Apple Watch app provided me with a tool I didn’t know I needed. The addition of the watch complication for watchOS 7 and the Home Screen widget for iOS 14 is yet another game changer.

What I’m getting at is that you should give Nikola a try. Is it free? No, but if you give the trial a try you’ll understand it’s worth the asking price.

It’s worth paying a developer that’s invested in their product. If this was for sale at $19-$29 it would probably be just as cool, but for how long? Paying a yearly subscription let’s me know Nikola will be around for the long haul!

Very good app but a few things I’d change

Nikola works as it should however for 9.99 a month I’d like to suggest a couple of things. 1. When setting Climate there’s no way to choose heat or AC 2. When the trunk is open the button doesn’t tell you that it is open. Besides those two things Nikola does help a lot viewing as a widget.

Guileful app practices, be warned.

Edit:
Subscriber beware: DO NOT BUY.
Forbid and like me, you turn out to have a bad experience with Nikola and leave an undesirable review, the Developer harasses you by sending several emails to make you revise your review to paint a pretty picture the developer says Nikola is. Don't be fooled.
Developer, you are warned. This is a cease and desist.

Original review:
Do not buy into their deceptive practices. First, they use your Tesla credentials to have full access to your vehicle. If you want to use Nikola , you must subscribe to them. The initial email is worded as if Tesla made Nikola, when to the contrary, if they would have, they would just integrate it to the Tesla app, so you can have access to those features. There is more about Nikola that is wrong. The fact they ask you to change your Tesla password when you stop using their app, that is a red flag. Be warned. No app that has complete access to your Tesla information, credentials, is worth your time and money.

Deceptive billing practice

I got an email to download Nikola for a 2 week trial. While Nikola was interesting I wasn’t seeing any value for the monthly subscription and tried to unenroll. Interestingly enough there is no place either on Nikola or the website where you can cancel the trial period. The only thing I could do was to delete Nikola . Reached out to the developer and was still charged for the first month subscription. Buyer beware since you can’t find the subscription in your Apple account under subscriptions either. Makes me wonder if this is intentional on the part of the developer but this is no way to run a business.

Track your driving habits

this app is a super simple app to see your recent drive and charge history at a glance. For a longer or customized overview, you can download your historical data with one click!

Like many other reviewers, I’ve also submitted feedback and feature requests and have found the developer to be fast, friendly, and responsive.

The Developer is Amazing!

I had an issue where my vehicle was not populating on the widget or Nikola and David was SUPER fast about getting back to me and fixing the issue. Usually when you find bugs with other apps it takes weeks to resolve, if it’s even selected for development, but David was able to push a fix within a couple hours! Amazing!

Great companion app

This is a great companion app : the developer is listening and add new useful features. Already a couple times my wife let the key inside the car and I was so glad to get the notification about the car being unlocked while I was not nearby.
The Watch integration is even a better bonus.
Definitely one app to keep around

Cool features IF it’s FREE

With the monthly payment, that’s basically adding to your monthly expenses for your Tesla. Cool features, but since it charges monthly, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it.

At least add an option where you can straight out purchase a lifetime subscription. The developer is going to respond that it’s expensive to keep it running, but there will always be passive income from people who don’t think it’s worth buying a lifetime subscription.

To the developer: don’t sugar coat it. I know you want the passive income but at least offer a lifetime option.

I wished it can be better.

It has potential to be good. The problem I have is with existing features, there are many bugs and waiting for months to fix is unacceptable especially for a monthly subscriber. The bugs specifically is on the history and trips. It does not record all trips. Tried everything, including making sure Nikola is always running in the background.

Super helpful!

This is a wonderful addition to the standard Tesla app, providing awesome data as well as notifications and such as leaving your vehicle unlocked for an extended period of time. Being able to unlock my car from my watch is also super useful! The developer is super responsive and very helpful to boot :) Highly recommended 💯👍

Excellent app for battery stats & notifications!

The this app app keeps track of battery performance and charge cycles. It also has very handy notifications for when the key has been left in the car.

It also has a nice watch companion app for unlocking the doors, flashing
the lights, and beeping the horn.

Great companion app

I love the simplest design of Nikola . Very easy to get trip and charging data. Developer is very prompt with questions and suggestions.

I’ve used the other apps, this one gives you the details very easily. Great to track how much energy your using to charge, and trip details with map.

Working well.

Wish spouse could control same car without paying too.

Tried Nikola for about 4 weeks

this app is the first Tesla app I came across after buying my model Y. After trying it for about four weeks I thought I’d start researching other apps. I ended up purchasing TezLab $5/month or $50/year. This is an app that has the user interface and data that I can connect with. There might be better ones out there but I’m sticking with TezLab for now.
