I googled it:
Some studies suggest that ultrasonic waves at frequencies of 18–48 kHz can repel mosquitoes, but there is no scientific evidence that high-frequency sounds repel mosquitoes. These waves can stress the mosquito's nervous system, causing their antennae to erect, which can increase the likelihood of them falling and dying. However, ultrasonic waves are ineffective against mosquito larvae, which require a frequency of 85 kHz.
1 hz=1000 kHz
These devices claim to emit high-frequency sounds that are too high for humans to hear but are meant to drive away pests, including mosquitoes, by mimicking bats. However, scientific studies have shown that ultrasonic repellent devices are ineffective against mosquitoes. For example, a 2010 review article examined 10 field studies and concluded that ultrasonic repellent devices "have no effect on preventing mosquito bites". A 2000 study also found no significant difference in landing rate between houses with ultrasound devices and houses with placebos. In fact, one lab test found that an ultrasonic device actually slightly increased mosquito attraction to the wearer.
Also, I compared different hz to other sound frequency apps that I have. This one sounds different than the others.
It's free so not a big deal. But I would be careful using it around your pets. They can hear louder sounds, but they also are more sensitive to loud noises and can get stressed by them, and eventually have hearing loss.
The controls are terribly sensitive, there should be a guide or graphics letting you know what the differences in frequency do. And u have no options really at all with it. The only instruction is annoying your friends? Come on now. Maybe have the option to play two different frequencies at the same time so you can listen to different frequencies in each ear. Yeah I was disappointed. Still hopeful it will improve though.
I’m confident I’ll find this useful for testing a sub’s FR below 50 hz, but… every attempt to make a quick frequency change of less than 1000 hz difficult at best. “Help” is no help.
SUGGESTION: make the “up” or “down” sweep rate user adjustable. EG “each mm of motion equal to 1, 10, 100, or 1000 hz.”
The lower the frequency the more difficult, especially in the triple digits. Yes the “up” & “down” buttons are great for 1-5 hz changes, but who want to press those tiny buttons more than 20 times when your desired change is over 100 hz or under 1000 hz.
it’s not bad, except for the controls of the frequency very poor, when you slide down, it goes to zero when you slide up, it goes to the maximum and when you take your finger off, it continues going the direction it was going before, please consider putting large buttons like 13 mm circles to place place your finger on to change Frequency, sliding up and down on the screen does not work very well, also consider adding some other features like white noise and some of the other sound generating machines. Also has zero effect on barking dogs, no effect on making them run away, or stop barking.
I have been using FrequencySoundGeneratorApp to help my tinnitus. I would pay for a version without ads so during my use I would not be forced to listen to an ad in the middle of a use. I run the frequency up and down to match the ringing in my ears and it helps clam the false nerve impulse to the brain and makes the tinnitus go away briefly.
I’ve had multiple operations on my ears and use this to do a quick check to see if I get back hearing after healing period.
It is theoretically possible to have good frequency control with finger swipe but on my iPhone at least it is difficult to get a particular desired frequency.
It would be nice to keep the swipe control and add a digital entry for an exact frequency.
A couple of enhancements like the “option”to continue running in the background even when your screen blacks out or the “option” continue running in the background if you switch to another app. Also offering a ad free version for a reasonable price would be a perk.
I ride a monowheel (electric singular wheel machine capable of high speed) at night. I have had several animals jump out in front of causing me to wreck. Hitting the concrete at 40+mph is at best like losing a physical fight. I tried the plastic horns from the auto parts store. They may have prevented deer but cats raccoons and opossums didn’t care. My mono wheel is equipped with a very loud speaker which I will play music through but animals do not seem to be deterred by hard rock, or 90’s gangster rap. So I downloaded FrequencySoundGeneratorApp and played it through the speaker on my monowheel inside my house while adjusting the frequency until my cat ran out of the room. Now I keep it there and I see wildlife stop and turn back into the woods instead of jumping out and hitting me head on like I am some sort of a threat usually resulting in their death and my broken elbows & ribs. In short it’s a great app especially Bluetoothed through louder speakers.
Other ones are difficult to navigate. This one is easier for specific frequencies. I do wish they would make the buttons to go up or down a little bigger to notice
I enjoy just experimenting on how it can be used to drive people insane. Just hide it and raise the frequency really high. They can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from. Remember, if their eyes start to look tired and give a slight rapid back and forth movement, they are slipping into irreversible insanity. My father plead insanity. He said he was crazy bout the girl.
FrequencySoundGeneratorApp would be a solid 5 if it had the ability to continue to play the sounds after you close your phone. If FrequencySoundGeneratorApp is still open I’d like to be able to hear the sound frequency while I sleep and my phone not die because it’s open.
I read that none of these types of apps work at repelling mozzies, but I was desperate. At 1 in the morning I was being disturbed non stop by the buzzing of mosquitos. I was already slathered in essential oils, and i had a citronella candle burning, but still mozzies buzzing at my ears non stop, so i decided to try FrequencySoundGeneratorApp out of desperation. After 1 min I realized that it was completely silent! And I was not disturbed for the rest of the night! So impressed!
Checking out my new Earlens hearing aids. They have a custom built transducer installed against your eardrum, which is wirelessly induced to vibrate (via a coil attached to the behind-the-ear processor). The frequency range FrequencySoundGeneratorApp showed mirrored my doctor’s numbers.
One app improvement would be to allow for direction reversal of the finger sliding gesture *without* lifting the finger to do so. This would let you find the frequency “edges” more easily.
Thanks.
It's the greatest! We have three little schnauzer dogs across the way from us, and I have been using FrequencySoundGeneratorApp to quiet the dogs. Rather than 2-10 minutes of irritation, we have about 20-30 seconds of irritation on Day 2 of using FrequencySoundGeneratorApp . Actually, no irritation because it's so much fun quieting the dogs up at the touch of a button. Thank you so much!
I am so amazed! I am a gardener. I have grapevines, orange trees and persimmon trees that are next to the fence where the neighbors have big dogs on the other side who love to terrify me with their barking and destroy my beautiful garden Reverie! The dogs wait for a quiet moment while I am pruning, weeding, harvesting, etc. They sneak up next to the fence where there are lots of gaps that they can see through. Then they bark loudly and make me jump! No matter what I do or say including gently trying to reassure them that I’m just a neighbor doing my gardening, telling them they are doing a good job guarding the house, they just keep barking and barking! That is, until I got FrequencySoundGeneratorApp! As soon as I play the sound which I can’t hear at all, the dogs slink away! Now all I have to do is take the phone out of my pocket and they get the heck out of here! It is amazing! I so appreciate FrequencySoundGeneratorApp!
This is the very best app I have ever found for frequency. It SHOULD be free to use. As it is in our nature as human beings to harness these frequencies, and I am also going to say, that whomever created this application, I thank you, deeply. This is a profound tool we should all use, as the one being we truly are. Thank you again. Let us all see the pureness from this application as I do. Love you all. Condense, within peace, yourself, and all loving beings ❤️
I had no idea if this would even work, but I tried it and BOOM! No more mosquitos and it even helped repel bedbugs! A neighbor in my apartment building had bed bugs. That’s when I decided to try FrequencySoundGeneratorApp! I let it play constantly to prevent an infestation. While a few other people got bed bugs, I did not! I truly believe it was because of FrequencySoundGeneratorApp. It was the only preventative measures I tried!
I also used it outside to repel misquotes! They just chomp down on me terribly. Yet, with the right frequency, I had not one bite!
Best App in years!
When he’s bored my cat starts meowing in one particular area of our apartment where his voice amplifies loudly enough that the neighbors down the hall can hear him. I turn this on and lower the frequency to distract him long enough that he stops. I think he becomes more curious about what the sound is than the actual sound bothering him. Either way, he stops and that’s what I need. He’s not sick or anything, just REALLY constantly wants to play ALL THE TIME…especially at 4:30 am!
So, its Sunday morning I have three neighbors with dogs. They let their dogs out and they all run to the fence and start barking their guts out at 7:30 in the morning followed by their obnoxious owners screaming at the barking dogs. I’m always an early riser and loves to let my lovely wife sleep as long as she likes on a Sunday morning pulls out my frequency app jack the frequency as high as it will go and bam!!!! Those dogs and owners are all silent except for the sound of the neighbor farting. I kid you not. The dogs were in some sort of state of confusion and immediately stopped barking. Thank you for making FrequencySoundGeneratorApp.
GREAT APP SO FAR……. HOWEVER it would be nice to be able to BOOKMARK certain frequencies so that we dont have to keep scrolling for the ones we like… or making QUEUED LISTS to play certain frequencies at a time….. hopefully this becomes a new feature soon
