Tried it once, ages ago

I tried it once, ages ago and back then they’d only allow you a certain number of views per day. This, of course, irritated me because if I can’t access these cards anytime and whenever then what’s the point of making them so I deleted SpacedRepetitionSmartCards and promptly moved back to quizlet. I will say though, the newest update allows for total app function and you only pay to remove add and it’s amazing and incredibly kind of the developer to do so.
I’ve already completely moved over to SpacedRepetitionSmartCards and, dare I say, it’s completely over run quizlet - as they’ve removed pretty much all any card customisation and labelled it a premium subscription - but also the user interface of SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is so much more easier to navigate than quizlet. I will happily pay for ad removal just as a show of support to the developers.

Edit: it would be nice if you could get a richer text in your flash cards I.E being able to hold certain words, bullet points, italicise, highlight/color certain words etc

It does (almost) all the things!

Oh man, this has the strength and flexibility of Anki, but with an actual usable interface, optionally punting some of the complexity of card making to other apps that you can easily import from. I was moments from sitting down to write my own spaced repetition app, but after finding this one I don’t need to bother!

Truly, my only grievance is that I can’t automatically add audio to my cards with text to speech (a killer feature in Quizlet for me). Yes, you can add audio to cards, but that only helps when manually adding audio to all your cards. I hope I’ve overlooked this feature or it’s in the pipeline; it is very frustrating to manually check my pronunciation every single time I’m unsure.

Thanks for the great app. 5*

Amazing App! (just one small request)

I LOVE SpacedRepetitionSmartCards! I’ve been using it for over a few months now and I appreciate its simplicity and thus its modernity. It’s very clean and easy to use as well.

I love the spaced repetition as that was what I had been looking for in a vocab flashcard app, but also the feature of adding a comment to a card. I use this a lot especially when I want to add a few sample sentences.

One small thing is that I’ve used quizlet before for school, and one thing that they implemented was the ability to have multiple answers such that things set off by parentheses, semicolons, or commas are regarded as unnecessary or alternative answers.

I include many semicolons in my flashcard definitions and I find it just slightly annoying that it always marks me wrong when I type in only one of the answers (but I appreciate that you can always “correct” the software and move that card to the correct pile). This is the only change/update I would suggest. Other than that, amazing app!

Love it!

After trying multiple flash card apps, this is now my go to as I learn Portuguese. After only a few days of use, I had already subscribed. It’s simply a modern, usable, great-looking app that does what I need to do. I also love the fact that it supports Apple Watch. I can be anywhere, anytime and I can review a bunch of cards with my watch. It would also be great to see a MacBook version, which would make it easier to create cards. I use my iPad for that now, which is fine, but a MacBook app would be better. Either way, this is great work, devs! Thank you!

Easy to use app, but I can’t use the camera feature

SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is wonderful, I use it for medical school and I find it easy to use, however you have to finish a whole deck before it logs your progress, like you can’t do half the deck, close SpacedRepetitionSmartCards and start later, it will delete all your progress and act as if you never did any of the cards in the deck. I can’t get the camera feature to work. When I try to take a picture of illustrations the camera just shows up black as if there is nothing to take a picture of. It is the only app that does that, my camera works fine, so I have to take a picture with the camera, save it, and then add it into the flash card, but I’d save a lot of time if the camera just worked.

Simple and great app

Like the title says this is a great app that is focused on 1 thing and I think it does it really well. There are 2 small features I want to request that I think would make the experience a little better without taking away from the simplicity.

1. Make the default for text input when creating cards and answering cards consistent with regards to the first letter being capitalized or not. Either way is fine but right now when you create a card the first letter is automatically capitalized and when you type in the answer it’s not automatically capitalized.

2. After typing in the answer and pressing return, you don’t see what you typed in again, you only see the right answer. It would be nice to show your input so you can compare spelling.

Other than that SpacedRepetitionSmartCards has been perfect for learning Russian.

Needs more archiving features

The import from copy paste feature is very limited and doesn’t allow for wildcards like the = determine front of cards versus back of card. The example given doesn’t explain very well nor use any punctuation to allow the user more control over copy paste import function. It only has Google drive and two other flash card websites for archiving. You never know when one of these flash card websites would close. You think that be the ability to make a zip file or I don’t know, use dropbox or iCloud. But they don’t.

Pretty much, every Flashcards app on the iPhone has limited features, or doesn’t allow for archiving properly. I’m not sure why someone doesn’t develop an app with the proper features of audio recording image support and archiving. But no one has.

This could be my ‘go to’

This has the potential to go the distance. Truly. I’m a flash card fanatic. Before this, ive used THREE different flash card apps simultaneously for different things. I want to see SpacedRepetitionSmartCards bundle all their strengths into one place. For that I would pay an even higher rate-

Developers SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is incredible so far. I love the ankii style review system, with the flexible phone friendly card creation of say quizlet. A couple suggestions.

Short term- You’ve GOT to give me the ability to organize these into groups. I want to have dozens of decks and not have to lose time scrolling through a list of like 60.

Long term- Id love to be able to rate my confidence on my card instead of just a got it/missed it scale. That is, rate it on a gradient and have the review system take that into account. Like brainscape.

LONG long term- See and download other people’s decks. Review cards in game form (see quizlet)

Again... deck groups seem like the no brainer :/ I feel you might actually be losing people from not having that.

All said, AMAZING potential!!

Great app

SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is exactly what I have been looking for. Easy to use when you want to add pictures to the front or back of the card, you have the ability to draw on the card as well. I found it easy to make the flash cards and decks and super easy to learn however I want to (spaced repetition OR on my own). I found studying on my own without the spaced repetition is helpful right before exams, and spaced repetition is extremely helpful when I am first learning the material. Great app.

Superb!!

I am using this for French and Cisco CCNP studies and I love it. I find it much more user friendly than Anki and the interface is modern and easy to use.
The spaced repetition algorithm works very well for my brain and I am memorizing much.
Getting decks off of the Anki website is a snap, I have not tried getting decks off of Quizlet so I can’t speak to it.
Also, you can’t beat the price for a year of use, around $7 is way better than over double that for Anki’s app.
This is a winner.

Good study app with a few exceptions

Main feature I'd love to have is being able to personally shuffle newly created decks so I can start open them from the top instead of having to scroll all the way down every time I open SpacedRepetitionSmartCards . The editing forms for cards are also finicky when you go from front to back, it clears your input for a second so you have to double click the form. Other than that it's a solid app.(maybe also allow changing daymode/nightmode while in the middle of review)

Almost Great

I want to love SpacedRepetitionSmartCards and I wish that I could support it by subscribing but it just barely misses the mark on some things. You are currently not able to edit multiple cards (like the tag or comment fields) at the same time. When importing from a document, you can’t import separate lines (only spaces). Importing from an Excel or Numbers sheet would be amazing. Also, exiting out of SpacedRepetitionSmartCards for longer than about 2 minutes completely restarts SpacedRepetitionSmartCards coming back—this one is the most frustrating.

That said, this is the best thing next to paying the $25 for Anki. The absolute best free option available.

Exactly what I needed!

This is a simple app to make a lot of cards. Multiple options to make them exactly how you want and really helpful with how it uses Anki.
I love it! Thank you!
I just wish that the decks I make are easier to share with other people. There’s no way that I’ve found to share decks I’ve made with friends. Or finds other people’s decks. I’d like to have some community aspect to this. I think it’d improve SpacedRepetitionSmartCards tremendously.
감사합니다!

Awesome flash card app but could use just a few tweaks!

SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is nearly perfect. The flash cards work well in almost all aspects and SpacedRepetitionSmartCards design is wonderfully done.

My few suggestions:

1. Make a web version of this (similar to what Anki has) so people can type cards on an actual keyboard

2. When you import a photo into the cards, it seems that there is no way to expand the photo or zoom in to see it more clearly. Trying to put text in a card as well as a photo just makes the photo itself incredibly small on a phone, and darn near impossible to see. If there was a way to put text on a card and a photo that could be expanded to full screen when tapped, that would be fantastic!!

Keep doing what you’re doing! SpacedRepetitionSmartCards was indispensable for me while studying for the dental admissions test and all of my other classes.

Cool app, overpriced premium

This is one of the better flashcard apps I've used. Pretty simple, but a flashcard app doesn't need to be flashy. The price for premium, however, is pretty steep for what you get. I could see myself paying a one-time $10 charge for these features, or I would consider maybe $3-5 a year, but $10/year just seems like a lot for what you get. I know there are other flashcard apps that charge even more for their premium features, but I think that's absolutely ridiculous. Maybe that's just me!

App crashes but allows me to draw

After every one or two cars I add to my card deck SpacedRepetitionSmartCards will crash on me. Thankfully, the card is always saved but I would prefer if SpacedRepetitionSmartCards did not crash at all. This has been happening for about a month.

I still like to use SpacedRepetitionSmartCards because I can use it across multiple devices and I’m able to input a variety of images onto the flash card I also would like a Zoom-in feature for images added to flashcards so that if I’m using it on my phone or iPad I can make the image bigger while I study.

Good, but please fix this *EASY FIX*

I use flash cards every day and I love how compatible the base app is with other flash card websites. I want to love SpacedRepetitionSmartCards and I believe I can, I only ask that you make the setting to “show side 2 first” an option for the watch version as well. This is a useful tool especially for me when learning language characters. I’m sure many other people will find situations where this is useful.

Great app!

It is a great and well made app. I love the simplicity and the design. However, there is one thing I don’t like. When I am studying by typing an answer, there is no way to exit without answering the question first and pressing “end review”. I wish I could quit without having to answer. I would also like an option to choose which side of the card to be prompted with. Other than that, really great app!

More Organization for Decks

Amazing app! I just would point out that it is hard finding decks for different classes when there is no organization for each subject. So, maybe next update we could get folders for each subject/ groups of decks? Otherwise this is an amazing app and you should definitely get if you are looking for a flash cards app!

Speechless.

This could truly become the behemoth of flash card apps if it had a web browser accompanying it, but honestly even without that I’ve found ways to innovate my card creation (phone screenshots of pictures and voice recording) that would feel less streamlined on a desktop. SpacedRepetitionSmartCards is saving my life rn, idk what id do without it.
