trying to login to DigId using firefox or safari browser fails when connected to a VPN server with the following error message: Helaas moet u opnieuw inloggen: " Er was langer dan 15 minuten geen activiteit in het scherm. Lukt het inloggen niet? Sluit en open de browser Of verwijder de oude cookies en wis de browsergeschiedenis Of log in via een andere browser" Login without VPN connection works fine. Despite the announcement and the subsequent updates since, this app still doesn’t work for Dutch nationals, living abroad and registered in the Registratie Niet-Ingezeten. In fact, the app even gives an error stating the DigID app cannot be activated because I’m registered at an address outside of The Netherlands. Well, isn’t that the whole point?!? I’m very disappointed with the app and also with the customer service DigID provides to resolve issues. They just copy and paste long lists of “solutions” that have absolutely no relevance for my situation……

Dear DigiD Programmers & Institutions using this App Service,
There are a plethora of functions which don’t run. Logging in is a frustrating hassle. As well, changing your phone number is impossible. The app crashes constantly. The best recommendation is for the designers to trash the DigiD app, and start over again with all of the malfunctions in mind; and/or all the websites and institutions that require the DigiD app services must switch to a new and improved app other than DigiD which actually works.

Both the app and the web have fatal user experience flaws that make the app in this case a real pain to activate. Onboarding new users has never been more frustrating than with this app.
