Having owned four other jeeps, including another grand Cherokee back in the 1990s, I knew a lot of what to expect form Jeep. But I really thought I wanted a Jaguar F-Pace. I had researched the Jaguar and had driven it and was very impressed with its style, quality, and performance. My wife has owned two Jaguars in the past so I understood the style and performance level level that they are known for. Since I have been pleased with every jeep I have owned, I decided to look at the Grand Cherokees again knowing they were significantly less expensive. I was very pleased with what I found in the 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited. After deciding on the Grand Cherokee and having driven it for several days, I would say it is equal or even better than the Jaguar which would cost $20,000 more for a comparably equipped vehicle. While the mystique of a Jaguar is very distinct, the heritage and overall cult nature of Jeep nation makes the 2018 grand Cherokee Limited a pretty amazing vehicle.

This is a Base Model JKU. Only issue has been drivers side door lock cylinder falling out and not a fan of base model gearing. Just by putting slightly bigger wheels from a Sahara my highway MPG dropped significantly. From up to 25 to 18. City mileage stayed the same at around 16-17. Great off road ability and no issues with two 2k road trips. I love the look and six speed. Two issues were addressed with new model. Lack of putting down windshield easily and lack of AC in back. That is not enough to upgrade. Again, this is a base model, so I knew all this, except the door issue. Jeep rides smoother than many cars and trucks I have driven. The ability to remove the doors and soft top is great. Until Toyota or Ford makes a SUV with these features (including manual transmission) I will probably keep buying Wranglers.

I have owned many Jeeps since 1981. I bought a Chevrolet Traiblazer in 2002 just to see if it would satisfy me as much as my jeeps had since it was less expensive. I found out that you get what you pay for and within 6 months I sold the Trailblazer and bought another Jeep. I have always bought the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and have never been disappointed. I have owned 8 Jeeps and will continue to be loyal to the Jeep brand as it has always been loyal to me. I would like to mention Anchroage Chrysler Center as the dealership of choice for their fairness, honesty, response when required and treating you like a valued customer rather than a profit to be made.
