Can't move files to phone, No Privacy Policy

1) First off, this is a Chinese CCP company so they are stealing data from your phone starting the moment you sync their app to the usb. Apple states that this company does not have privacy settings. This warning in the AppStore listing.
2) Secondly, the User Interface is not intuitive so searching online for instructions takes time before getting things going. Their internet presence and customer service is severely lacking, to the point that the developer contact form within YDisk does not allow you to see the words you are typing. If your auto-correct mistakenly changes your email address while typing, you won't know because you only see a cursor moving while text is invisible.
3) Last but not least, I purchased this software to transfer data and documents from my computer to my phone. However, the usb and software does not allow the transfer of documents into a phone's file storage, YDisk is not recognized by the phone as a file source, and files on the usb can not be attached to emails or shared. The documents are locked in the usb.

Not being able to reach customer service, I'm posting my review to see if someone will respond here. If not, I will delete their app, remove their spyware, reformat the usb and use it as a standalone flash drive.

Not Bad - Needs Improvements

Edit: The issue where folder/file names were not visible (#2 below) was due to my iPhone settings. If you have dark mode turned on, you will not be able to read file names. You must turn off dark mode.

Works fairly well but there are a few major fallbacks that I hope get fixed in future updates:

1. If there is any considerable amount of data already stored on the flash drive, it takes several minutes (15+) after plugging it into an iPhone before you will be able to access YDisk and view files. I usually want to plug it into my phone and quickly view 1-2 files, so waiting for YDisk to sync with the USB defeats the purpose.

2. You cannot view folder or file names in the file explorer. I have several tiers of folders/files that I need to access thru YDisk and it is nearly impossible to navigate the file explorer without folder and file names visible.

I am using this for my construction job. It allows me to save my plans and documents from my computer and bring them out onto the job site to reference on a phone or iPad. Also, I take several photos everyday in the field, and this USB allows me to quickly transfer large groups of photos to my computer. Please continue to improve YDisk so it becomes more functional for regular use.

Doesn’t work as intended

First I want to apologize to YDisk creator for leaving a negative review before trying it out. That being said I bought the 64 GB version under the impression I was buying Iflash, and when I plug-in the device it shows that my phone has no service for some reason even though the service is still functional also it only detected my most recent pictures six in total doesn’t find any videos or anything else that it claims to do. I’m using iPhone SE And YDisk says it works on this device however it clearly does not work as intended I’m not able to use most of the functions so what’s up with that? That’s why I give this a one star rating however I am more than willing to change that to a five star if somebody can help me figure this issue out. Update, I just explored YDisk a little bit more and it deleted everything I had saved to it and now it’s saying that there’s nothing on it. That was a waste of money in my opinion I’m not sure who is to blame whether it’s the creator of YDisk or the flash drive itself.

Works well for my intended purpose.

First I’ve seen many poor reviews and had me a little worried, but my reason for purchasing was to view movies that i had previously downloaded on other devices, not trying to back up my device as I utilize iCloud for that a couple bucks a month greatly increases iCloud storage. Not to mention the saying you get what you pay for, so when I purchase an item at a eye catching discount, I automatically assume that it’s probably not gonna work as well as similar products purchased at retail stores. So I’m pleased and why do I see where some people have over 1000 plus pictures on their phone. How many of those were just quirky needless photos or how often do people reminisce on what happened last year, a few months ago, etc. Family photos are about the only ones I truly cherish. Apologies slightly venting as I am left??

Works if you use a lightning extension cable

At first I could not get any of my devices to see this drive even with the case off. So I tried a lightning extension cable and then all my devices could see the drive. Down loaded several movies in AVI, MKV and MP4 formats, and was pleased to see that the device performed well on these codec. Had to do a quick format on the drive when first installed, this also helps prevent any hidden root kit programs from installing, as the developer has not released a use of data statement, which they will have to do on the next update…for the developer, you need to make the lightning connector longer so an extension cable will not be needed.
Giving this 5 stars just to get visibility, if I encounter issues, I will revisit this review.

Not fully iOS functional

The drive isn’t recognized by iOS because it isn’t certified. It doesn’t really function with ios the way it should and looses connection. Brand name drives function like adding a disk to your device. You can actually back stuff up and save all the background meta data. This drive allows you to copy files while using YDisk only but you loose all the background data like date location, original if you edited etc it also does not show up in the Apple folders app indicating your phone is not really functioning with it correctly.

Each time you perform a function, YDisk and the drive loose connection and you have to take the drive out and close YDisk and restart over. Not a safe way to back stuff up.

I wouldn’t really trust this drive or app for anything and am going to return it.

It doesn’t maintain a connection because it isn’t Apple certified. You’re basically hacking out phone going through a back door, wher as the sandisk real version of this for a few $ more actually communicates with your devise and functions just like another folder in your phone. It actually does a real back up and copies all the background meta data like date and edits and originals. It also showed up in your Apple folders app in iOS and you can use the send function in iOS. The arrow icon you use to send things.

Not good for intended purpose

There are many reasons why YDisk is not good. The drive I am using it with, the Auamoz 256Gb iOS flash drive, works fine. YDisk , though, is no good. When you copy your photos over, it changes the file names, the creation date, and does not copy over the metadata for each photograph. Thus it is impossible to tell if your photos have been reliably backed up onto the drive before deleting them on your iPhone.

That makes the drive pretty much useless for the
purpose of backing up photos and videos.

Secondly, it does not register itself with iOS “Files” app. Therefore it can’t be used with that app to transfer files of other types.

Oh, also, it does not display the file names for the files or folders in the file manager section. What? Nope.

Conclusion: since the interface between the drive and YDisk is proprietary, this drive is also pretty worthless. Too bad because it seemed like such a great idea.

Infuriating

This worked great the first time I used it. Or so I thought. I got it to move all my photos and videos from my phone onto what I read to be a secure and great location. However…when I went to use it again my iPhone wouldn’t recognize or acknowledge that the jump drive was plugged into my phone. I began to panic a little bc all of the family photos from the last several years that I had saved to this drive and now this drive was not working properly. My panic grew when our laptop wouldn’t recognize it either. Now I have YEARS of photos I had had on my phones gone. We viewed them on our laptop after I saved them from my phone and before I deleted them from my phone. So I know it worked as described initially. But I guess it was only made to work once. I must’ve missed that part in the description when I bought it.

Such a waste of time

Just bought the flash drive and I can’t even move/copy anything from my device to it. not sure if it’s YDisk or the flash drive or a combo of both. even when I tried to move one single photo it took forever. By it took forever I mean I sat there for an hour while it ‘loaded’ and eventually cancelled it because it wasn’t doing anything. and that was just trying to ‘copy’. When I tried to ‘move’ it froze up and I had to exit YDisk in order to cancel the action.
Then, when I tried switching between the USB and the Internal tabs on YDisk it kept saying the flash drive wasn’t inserted even thought it was and I hadn’t touched it in anyway.
Don’t waste your money or time on the YSeaWolf flash drive and it’s app.

Worked as advertised

Out of the package, the drive called for this software. It installed quickly & copying nearly 900 pictures, including a dozen short videos, took about 10 minutes. It look a little longer than I expected to actually see the images and not just their file names. This frees iPhone and gives a backup. I also uploaded the images from the this app to my pc. That took a few minutes as well. My real rating for this would be 4.75, only for transfer speed.

By

Do NOT get this flash drive

When you try to upload your pictures, it has problems transferring even ten at a time. The pictures that do transfer are no longer dated and in order. When I tried to upload video it was the most disappointing. I was able to upload 2 videos and after that whatever it did “upload” were these pixilated and barely able to play my videos. If you have a thicker case like an Otter box it won’t work without you taking off your case. When I was wanting to return it, they said they would not give me my money back since it has been more than a month which they in no way shape or form indicated when buying the product. I literally missed this deadline by 2 days when I sent them the email. Unacceptable.

Flaws

I was thrilled to get my first attempt of 150 photos (just wanted to try it out before getting 5k photos off my iPhone8+) but once they were loaded to my pc so I could put on an independent hard drive I noticed the original photo information (ie. date and time taken) is gone and replace by date and time that I used this flash drive to transfer pics.

Then, two days later I decided to select certain pics that I wasn’t worried about not having the original image date and time....but realize now upon using that random images are not showing so I can choose from my saved pics. I’m guessing it’s a glitch?!? Definitely makes me nervous removing my pics with a device that is not working properly just after one use.

No issues

Contrary to some of the reviews on here I plugged mine in and under two minutes 158 photos and 38 videos were able to transfer from my iphone onto the usb drive and then to put it onto my computer it took under three minutes. contrary to some of the negative reviews on here I had no issues at all I give it five stars it does exactly what it supposed to do and it does not take a long time to upload/download.

Doesn’t work

It doesn’t work. It keeps freezing. I’m trying since 30 minutes and I couldn’t copy one single file

UPDATE
I don’t know why but it suddently started working and it actually works perfectly. Even better than other and more known brands. YDisk is easy to use and since it started working, it worked perfectly and did exactly what is supposed to do.
I like the fact that the files are divided into categories so it’s easy to retrieve them.

By

Y does it need access to cellular data?

YDisk slows everything down to a crawl and the phone heats up any time cellular data is being accessed by any app. Go into settings and see it acceses cellular data. Why would a Chinese app want to capture all of your cellular data when it’s only supposed to be for transfer of your own personal photos? It did not even prompt for permission to access cellular traffic. Turning this off restored speed and stopped the overheating on my phone.
Net-net: I am suspicious that YDisk is skimming cellular traffic on your phone and sending it back to Beijing.

“Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you”...

Terrible

Wish I looked into which thumb drives used which apps before I bought them! If I knew YDisk was associated with more than one brand I bought, I would never have bought the drives. This didn’t “find” the files I needed it to store, it only recognized “today’s” photos, asked for access to my photos, but only showed a blank screen of dates where the photos “should” be, and is NOT user friendly (and although I am not a geek, I am usually “self-tech-sufficient”). It was not originally designed to be in English, and is very poorly executed. I will be contacting the developers ASAP, as well as returning the purchased thumb drives.

File sharing issues

Ok, I had 5 folders on USB. I have my iPad. Newest version. Since no instructions provided, I finally figured how I could create a folder on my internal drive and transfer some photos from USB. Something called “project on path” command.... However...

1. I couldn’t seem to transfer a folder of 100+ pictures.
2. When I looked at internal drive on y-disk, I could see new folder and photos. And mobile photos(800+) but no mobile videos.
3. When I went to “photos” on iPad. Folder and transferred photos where not there. Nowhere at all.
4. I created a new folder on iPad in internal.. could not see it in y-disk.
5. Y-Disk showed “mobile photos”, “mobile videos” , “shared files”, and the new folder I created via y-disk “cape cod”

So where are instructions and how do I transfer from USB to iPad?

Videos won’t play and photos are grayed out!

I transferred videos and photos from my iPad to the Y Disk. Initially the Videos would play, and I could view the photos, but since I’ve added more it just shows grayed out squares. I can scroll down and play old videos but not the newer ones. I don’t know if it’s just taking an extremely long period of time to load them or what. I can’t recommend this device due to the issues with playback. I don’t trust that my videos and photos have actually been download to it appropriately since they are grayed out. I bought a 256 GB USB and have only used a small portion of it.

I hate this app

I had to download YDisk because I bought a thumb drive and it made me do it. As soon as you plug it in it tries to download all the photos onto it. I don’t want them to download, I want to see the photos that are on the disc. This is a problem because the size of the photos on my iPad are way more than the disk space on the thumb drive and so it spins forever and then fails. I just want to plug it in like a regular thumb drive and see the photos on it. I can’t see how to change this function and YDisk support link goes nowhere. No support for YDisk. Maybe they will answer if I give them one star.

Needs a new function

I do like YDisk. I can simply copy my data into any drive. However, I think a new function is necessary. When I want to transfer data from my iPhone to Y Disc I must either select all photos or single photos. The photos on my phone will be listed daily. I would love to have a function which allows me to select all the photos under a single day. It would be great if a button - Select all - next to the date will be displayed. Thank you.

By

App works and functions just fine

The only complaint is. Wish there is an option in YDisk to keep the screen on while transferring files. Otherwise if the screen lock it’ll stop the transfer and you have to start over. O you have to keep on taping the screen so it won’t lock. Please add this feature. Thank you
But other than that app is great.

Fast & good

Drive is needed to transfer files to backup drive. It copies photos with dates. I did not measure exact time required for transfer but perception was that it was fast. The first batch was 6.3 GB. All files were copied from iPhone 6S in backup mode. Also successfully tested Select-transfer mode. Manual is poorly translated but one does not need it beyond YDisk name. So I did not count it against the producer.

SAY WHAT...!!! 😃

I had literally 6147 photos in my iPhone6s Plus 📲 this device downloaded all but only 80 photos... Not bad AT ALL! So far very excited. Would have given 4 or 5 stars but my photos did not upload in the order it was taken nor did it store the dates the pics were actually taken so I’m not sure which 80 has not downloaded l. Also, I haven’t checked if my pics can be exported into my laptop. Once I do I will leave star rate as is or it’ll go UP!!! So far - IM EXCITED!!!!

Works but needs major updates

When you plug in a usb, it loads all your data but it doesn’t organize them into folders if you have folders on your usb. And if you have videos on your usb, it won’t label them as a name, it will just sort them by date. Please add a feature where we can sort by size, name, date, etc. And please add a feature where videos and other files have names under the thumbnail like they have on the usb.

Flash drive and software a failure

Bought the 128 go flash drive but it does not function as advertised. I can save files to the flash drive but they can’t be viewed or recovered via iPhone or iPad, only if plugged into a computer. Software is most likely the problem and can be corrected if the software is updated. In the meanwhile it is not a fully functional device. If you only want to save files from your iPhone to it and use it to transfer the files to a computer then it works. I give it ZERO stars but the rating app requires at least one star.

Pretty simple to use

Although, I would’ve preferred to have read what YDisk actually can do on YDisk Store. But everything is in Chinese. I can’t read Chinese. Wouldn’t it be better to have in English in the U.S version of YDisk Store for Apple? But overall it’s pretty simple to use. The only thing I couldn’t do was download my music that I downloaded from the music app.

By

Doesn’t work.

This thing is crap. It only found two photos from two months ago and a few from last week. The reviews from last year were better so I have to wonder if the last update corrupted YDisk . I’ll wait to see if the developers read reviews and correct it. If they do I will update my review. One other thing. The developer site is in Chinese. There’s a function in YDisk to submit to them but that’s useless as well as it will not accept any inputs.

By

Drive works well, but app needs work

The storage disk works great, but the music section of YDisk itself won’t let me rewind/fast-forward a song or shuffle/loop a playlist. Also, everywhere in YDisk , the “Sort A-Z” and “Sort Z-A” functions do not work. Please, release an update soon. Other than that, you have a satisfied customer.

By

Not as described

The first use took forever to download 15 pics. It showed something was transferred, but could not see any photo. The second time it downloaded more that finally could be seen. Now the device will not show in app. It says confirm unplugged while plugged in. I closed YDisk unplugged then reinserted jump drive. It asked for permission to access. App opens and ask to confirm device unplugged. Gonna have to return. We have two devices. Returning both before it ruins our phones!!!

It made more sense once I cracked it open and found essentially a standard Micro SD which is removable from the lightning apparatus. Thus now it is of use to me bc all I need is SD cards to physically store data from iPhone where as before I broke it open things seemed gloomy

It worked a couple of times then it started to not to copy the files. It seems to copy the files but the USB disk remains simply empty. I don't even want to talk about how it classifies the pictures. If it ever does... According to the Y-Disk application, my pictures are taken in 1992, 1999, 2004... and so on. Don't waste your money. Use a cable.

I have just over 975 photos i was wanting to remove from my phone and store on the Y-disk but for some reason it will only detect 85 photos. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in but it will not detect more than 85 of all the photos.

Don’t waste your money. I had to transfer photos from OneDrive to my iPad and then transfer to Y disk. It takes a while. I must not have read the product description correctly, I want to store documents as well as photos. If we can’t store documents why is there an option fi5 in the menu? It was slow uploading to y disk and all the problems listed in other reviews. Very disappointed.
