AMBOSS Qbank for Medical Exams Reviews

The question bank is great and I like the integration of it with the medical knowledge bank, but there are dozens of links in every answer when I'm reviewing my test and I cannot move between questions or scroll through the answer choices without hitting one accidentally. The links should be programmed to only be work when intentionally clicked, as opposed to when my finger glides over them. Amboss additionally crashes a lot, particularly when clicking these links. The links in general are not a problem and are often helpful, but this is a real quality of life issue for me as I'm using AMBOSSQbank on my phone.
Additionally, AMBOSSQbank verifies internet connection every time you open it whether it's on a downloaded problem set or not. It needs to verify connection and does not give up if there's a non-functional WiFi connection. This makes AMBOSSQbank difficult to use when on a plane, for example, when you are in airplane mode but connected to limited WiFi.

I’m a big fan of Amboss (already an Ambossador), but this QBank app still needs some SERIOUS work. All the big pieces are in place, but my goodness is it buggy. I just timed myself doing practice questions for exactly 5 minutes. I made it through 2 questions but unintentionally “clicked” on underlined terms 19 times, was redirected away from the question page 6 times, and had AMBOSSQbank crash completely 12 times. I like Amboss, and I want to recommend it to my classmates, but you guys have got to get AMBOSSQbank cleaned up.

Guys you got a great Qbank and teaching medical resource , But I think you should make it to resemble the real exam .. the formats/fonts and the whole questions should be 100% identical to the Exam , Uworld is a more exam simulator Qbank because of that .. please make sure to update the platform so it looks identical to the exam and keep up the update for the questions so it really reflects the exam changes .. you have done a fantastic job and I’m pretty sure you’ll be a great contender soon !

I like the web browser version of AMBOSS, but AMBOSSQbank drives me crazy. The font is TINY and I have to hold my iPad absurdly close to read it. Often when I swipe to a new question, it just appears as a blank page. Sometimes this can be resolved by selecting highlight when the words magically appear again, but not always. The highlight feature is also annoying - I would rather highlight my own phrases as a learning tool than see what they’ve chosen to highlight. That being said, I think the content more closely matches the breadth and depth of NBME questions than does UWorld.

AMBOSSQbank is poorly designed. You can’t highlight. Lab values are hard to access. An assist button that automatically reclassifies the question as “correct with assistance” instead of just correct is way too easy to accidentally click. It’s too easy to accidentally select a wrong answer. The text is too small with no (or at least no easily found) way to increase it. There is also no way to flag a question.

Amboss on the computer is a good resource. It would be nice to be able to use Amboss on mobile, but AMBOSSQbank is just bad and needs a complete redesign.

Yeah, UWorld has great questions and explanations and Osmosis has great videos (I've paid for both), however, Amboss provides the best overall learning experience. The questions are well written, the explanations are thorough, and best of all, you can click on all the key words to get short definitions or link to the learning app to get in depth info. Worth every penny! I wish I had Amboss during my M1 and M2 years!

As one of the tops competitors for UWorld, I expected a highlighting feature but nothing has been available and I’ve used AMBOSS on and off for the last 2 years. Please update a highlighter feature so we can highlight text. I’ve seen much improvements like added % of questions and hammer. A bigger size font feature, which all of this is hidden in the settings of AMBOSSQbank , had to do some digging. An easier interface would be better for students. Thanks!

The Amboss app has been a life saver for 3rd year with all the time at the hospital. If I have a few minutes free, I can quickly download the last question set I was working through. It pairs seamlessly with the amboss knowledge app as well and will open reference info for further information.

Just got the Qbank, seems good so far, but please add a submit button feature. The question is answered based on the first answer choice you select, so if you accidentally press a wrong answer choice, you cannot change your answer before submitting. There should be a submit button to prevent submitting accidentally chosen answer choices.

You can’t change the font size in AMBOSSQbank . Text is way too small.

I’m genuinely surprised by the lack of certain features in AMBOSSQbank . You can’t create new tests/sessions within AMBOSSQbank natively - it requires you to open an in-app web browser to do that. You can’t change the font size from the size 8 font. You can’t navigate to the next button with an arrow - you have to either use two taps to select the question number and then the next question number or swipe. The questions seem good, but my faith in them is diminished by the haphazard setup of both AMBOSSQbank and the desktop site.

I have access to the full version of AMBOSS thanks to a campus plan. I have been using the PC version for a while and it works very well. The user interface makes interacting with the material intuitive.

However, the user interface of the iOS version was not up to par. So much so in fact that I have uninstalled it from my device. A lot of work needs to be invested in this before it can meet the minimum of expectations.

Love the amboss library and question bank.

AMBOSSQbank is frustrating mainly because landscape mode is unusable. When you flip between questions in landscape mode, the right side of the text is cut off, so you can’t read the question.

Also would be much better if the lab values sheet were more app friendly (e.g., bigger font, collapsible sections, searchable)

There is nothing like AMBOSS in the market, the question bank is tough with a purpose, the explanations make you think and find the key differences needed to to improve the score, you don’t have to go and google anything since every word is underlined with a quick link to definition or development of the subject.

AMBOSSQbank is decent, it be a lot better with a dark mode option. Still one of the only STEP Q banks without an option for a dark background. It makes a huge difference when reviewing question blocks. It would as be better if users could save questions into folder like in the desktop version.

Great app but even after adjusting the text to the maximum size, I still feel like it’s too small to read on the phone. I also think that a dark mode option is long overdue as students have been asking for this for a long time.

I love the AMBOSS platform a lot. It’s really helped me with medical school. I just wish AMBOSSQbank was set up like NBME/Step format. It blank and isn’t formatted at all the way NBME/Step and other qbanks are. The questions are awesome, I just wish they updated the format.

Love your questions so far, learning a lot. Unfortunately due to the lack of highlighting feature, I usually just end up going on my laptop and don’t use AMBOSSQbank much.

Font is so small and it’s difficult to read. I wish they had an option to increase font size

Kept crashing after I repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled AMBOSSQbank and updated my phone iOS. Separately restarting my phone did the trick.

I have really enjoyed using AMBOSS in my shelf and step prep. The QBank app could be improved by allowing direct access to the study plans. Currently, I have to start a study plan block on a computer, and then switch to my tablet once the system registers that I’ve begun a new block.

They recently updated AMBOSSQbank , which has since caused me the only problems I’ve had with AMBOSSQbank thus far. Any time I click the “Settings” gear icon in the upper right, AMBOSSQbank automatically quits. This happens every time on both my iPhone and iPad. Website and Knowledge Library are great, as are the questions which just need to be accessed on the computer to avoid this problem.

Great for doing questions on the go but could it optimized on iOS 13? It randomly crashes after a few seconds of opening or after doing a few questions.

I love the qbank would love to use it on my phone as well but can you please allow users to change the font to make it larger ?

Honestly all you would need to do along side UWorld. I found the questions and content way better organized in AMBOSS. This + Uworld is a recipe for keeping up in rotations!

AMBOSSQbank crashes constantly. Also it opens the library everytime I start to scroll over a link. So annoying it is almost unusable.

Update: AMBOSSQbank hasn’t been updated in the past five months. I have my exam in only one month and I paid for this service in order to use it. What are the developers doing??? This is infuriating

Questions are well written for the most part and the AMBOSSQbank is simple and easy to use.

Amboss is the best qbank out there. Helped me improve my shelf scores and now I’m using it to study for step 2. Thorough questions with great explanations and a very in-depth library. And it’s affordable!

Useful information but with the latest iOS update it just repeatedly crashes every minute or two. Also pulls up the library app randomly even if I’m just trying to scroll. Makes studying with it really difficult...
