User interface REALLY needs some work

Unfortunately the implementation of these web forms on the iPhone version is really bad. Makes it very hard to enter and delete entries, move the cursor, the keyboard gets in the way without intelligently scrolling often, etc. In short the UI is kind of a disaster despite the calculators being very useful.

Excellent medical app, but iPad version with huge shortcomings

MDCalc is an excellent medical calculator, with updated literature citations and educational snippets. The iPhone version is stellar however the iPad version has several limitations in function that do not take advantage of the functionality of the iPad and it’s Pro-functionality.

I work on the wards and am frequently using many of the calculations in MDCalcMedicalCalculator on my new iPad Pro with the magic keyboard. This means I am in landscape mode throughout the day.

Upon opening MDCalcMedicalCalculator on landscape mode, MDCalcMedicalCalculator does not rotate whatsoever. Meaning it cannot be used while the iPad is docked. MDCalcMedicalCalculator also does not take advantage of the iPad OS’s multitasking features like split-view or slide-over, a huge detriment when I am charting on my virtual desktop app and looking to have MDCalc slide-over to briefly calculate a MELD score for example.

The addition of these features to the iPad app would make this a 5/5 app. But until then, it’s unusable for the iPad Pro especially when it is on the Magic Keyboard.

Great team!

MDCalc has a great supportive, innovative and attentive team! For clinicians upon whom the burden of making clinical decisions stands, I strongly advise using the newly provided evidence links to evaluate limitations of studies prior to using the equations. I personally do not use all calculators due to lack of evidence and limitations of studies.

Very useful app. Stopped working on M1 Mac

This is a very useful app. I realize that it is designed for iPad, but it would be super helpful if the developers ensured that it can be used on Apple Silicon Macs as well. It used to work, but it no longer does, and I am not sure if this is due to an update.

Love it!

This is such a great app. It has every decision-making calculator possible, and the best part is you can save your favorite/most commonly used clinical calculators to quickly access them.

Fast and furious

Can be used in 15 seconds as part of patient care at least by 2nd or 3rd visit once history has been obtained.

Fixed after deleting and reinstalling

This is one of my favorite apps. I use it all the time for work, and it is definitely a lifesaver. It was having issues after the last update and was crashing upon opening, but after deleting and reinstalling MDCalcMedicalCalculator , it now works perfectly. Thank you MDCalc team for your assistance!

Crashing

I’m a doctor, I always use MDCalcMedicalCalculator, but it’s been crashing and won’t open since yesterday. Please help! 😩

Great for prehospital/retrieval

I love MDCalc. In the prehospital arena we do not have nearly enough diagnostic capabilities. This helps me form an idea of how sick a patient is on scene with any information available. As always in the prehospital arena, make sure to follow your MD’s protocols and charting policies..

Use in FP

I use my app to access all my common assessments. It is great to have all in one easy accessible place. I also love the fact that with one click I see clinical evidence and know how to score it.

Problem fixed

Besides the issue I had before with crashing, amazing app. Easy to use and very helpful for busy ER docs. Thanks.

It’s the best

Long time user. I used to have a ton of medical calculator apps on my phone. They’ve all been deleted except for this one.

Latest version

Update: delete and re-install MDCalcMedicalCalculator to get most recent update to work.

Crashes with most recent OS

No second thoughts

If you’re a resident, you know how many times MDCalcMedicalCalculator has saved your bacon. Probably the best of its kind out there.

Third year medical student

I love MDCalcMedicalCalculator. Consistently makes me look smarter than I actually am. Comfortable using it at the bedside with patients as long as I explain what I am doing to the patient. Must have for med students, great tool.

Life Saver

I was looking for Sepsis criteria after my daughter’s 2nd bout. That’s when I found MDcalc. I have used it to convince medical pros to do Sepsis work ups, because sadly, awareness is still lacking. Thanks to MDcalc and early treatment, my daughter has survived Sepsis 6 times now.

One of the best for Wards and Residency

Used this all the time on wards and in residency. Would highly recommend to have on your phone especially if you want to support your diagnosis on your assessment and plan.

Great during 3rd year rotations

This is been a great tool during my 3rd year medical rotations. It has been a quick and easy app to use while I am rounding in the morning during hospital hours.

An absolute must have on the wards.

Medical scores are very difficult to keep memorized completely when starting off in medicine. This is a great resource to have on the wards. Easy to use and a great way to improve patient care and improve diagnostic ability.

Excellent!!

Thank you!! I have been waiting for this for a a long time. I used to use the website during my residency but MDCalcMedicalCalculator was missing after explosion of smartphone devices. I really liked their layout and their explanation of the importance of a given calculator with links to reference articles.

Requires extensive invasive registration now

I have use this program for two years now is a resident and like it very much, however now at the next update they require extensive and invasive registration. No way to bypass the registration so I could not use the application when I needed it most today. Very disappointed in the developers for not allowing bypass of the registration screen.

QTc calculator

I could not see the toggle option for the longest time. It seems odd to have “number of boxes” as the default, or even as an option.

Info at your fingertips

Makes everything much faster

Current and useful

Highly recommend it. Easy to use and provide the rationale for the test used

New provider

Wonderful and easy to access. I recommend using regularly to become familiar. Improves base knowledge and eases with difficult decisions like pediatric head trauma. Good to documentation.

A Must-Have App for Doctors

This is one app puts evidence-based medicine at the fingertips to every doctor in the world! The most up-to-date doctors use MDCalcMedicalCalculator daily... this is a must-have app!!

Simple interface

My coworkers all told me how well this works so that was no surprise. The simple interface was what really surprised me. This is now my go-to medical calculator.

Cheat sheet!

Great app!!! Good for all calculations and very quick reference for ER and critical care situations when time matters. Also good for new and up to date rules like HEART and PERC scores! Love it for when to correct calcium too!!!

One place for handy info

It is nice to have these formulas in one handy spot to reduce the cognitive load when it has been a long shift.

Useful

MDCalcMedicalCalculator gives me what I need. Save the formulas I need to my favorites & easy to access them because they are alphabatized.
