Good concept. Very smooth and sensible displays. Needs a little work

Overall I find Gronda to be very helpful in connecting me to chefs that I typically would never know of or meet. It is definitely a great medium to learn more of the inside of the high end restaurant world. The masterclasses are good in novelty but are not these end all be all resources for how to do everything they are teaching you. It’s an idea and then a short application for it. I do fine with them but I think a less experienced chef may struggle a bit. For the problems. Some recipes are supposed to be written with the ingredient amounts. The way the instructions are written you can tell they should be posted and a while back every pro recipe had the ingredient list. I no longer see any of the ingredient lists on any recipes. Once I tried to see if family sharing of Gronda worked. I went to log out and when I went to use my Apple account to log back in (the way I created the account) I couldn’t log in I reached out to customer service and there was no way of tracking my Apple ID or my email address back to my account. This isn’t a huge problem because customer service was prompt in helping me get a new account via email address (which they have a record of) and reactivating my this app pro for me. My only down side is now I can’t verify my this app pro account. I have overall had a good experience, but they definitely need to work some kinks out.

Excellent content, terrible app

Gronda hosts incredibly high quality content that you won’t find elsewhere; however, Gronda itself is full of bugs and UI issues. Attempting to save recipes or creations does not always work, no matter how many times I attempt or quit Gronda from memory and reload, which can be frustrating when I’ve gone through and found things of interest. Making the matter worse, searching for the exact title will not always pull up the result. Some are never to be found again. There seem to be issues loading content. The number of creations within a chef’s collection might change each time I visit the page, with things disappearing at random. Similarly, viewing my own saved items, they often only partially load, with saves or entire collections temporarily disappearing. I am leaving this review because the link for help within Gronda is yet another thing that didn’t work. If you want to find some inspiration on the spot for immediate use, Gronda might be helpful, but it is not stable enough for saving recipes and ideas for future reference.

Great concept, really janky

There’s a lot of excellent information in the many videos and recipes on here, it’s a great source to learn many molecular gastronomy techniques. But Gronda has a terrible amount of bugs. Often times I’m unable to watch a video without it buffering, and when I close Gronda and reopen it, it still doesn’t work. I would say it’s worth a download if you’re into the molecular gastronomy style of cooking, but I would not recommend getting Pro. I was getting 2-3 notifications a day for recipes paywalled behind Pro. I eventually caved in and the videos almost never load, when they do they stop about half way through and buffer endlessly. It also has a terrible interface, it’s confusing in what it wants to be. Gronda has a really long way to go, while I’d still recommend it to a few of my chef friends, I will warn them about the issues and bugs Gronda has. I look forward to when I can actually watch videos, and not feel like I wasted money.

Needs lots of work !

1-Why would you advertise Gronda on the US App Store when Gronda is 90% in German ? I actually saw some Italians there complaining about such a thing . If you want Gronda to be just for Germans then fine , but if you want to make it for everyone, you should either make it in English or at least have the option for everything to be translated in English, not just a couple of recipes .
2- Gronda was presented as a place where chefs and foodies can come share experiences. Not sure why that part about jobs was added there.
3- Recipes aren’t very clear except very few of them.
4- Take off the music from the videos . Insert a narration from someone instead.

Great Concept but needs revisions

Gronda is great in trying to connect modern gastronomic techniques to individuals working in the industry. The only overbearing issue is the somewhat confusing layout and the overwhelming amount of bugs and connectivity issues.

It's frequent to crashes when trying to watch content or videos. Particularly the masterclasses they have.

Short videos are at times slow to load or don't lose at all even over WiFi.

The layout seems janky at times and takes some time loading occasionally when scrolling down the main screen.

Other than the technical issues the content is pretty great. I would definitely recommend to others but hope there will be some technical and layout revisions in the future.

Waste of money.

I spent $50 for a year membership, thinking that I’d have access to recipes not found on the usual sites. And ideas a bit more unique.
Chefs post their photos of finished dishes, but most of the time, there is NO RECIPE or they’ll list
A few ingredients (no measurements), or they’ll post components (and no recipes for components either). Many times they don’t even describe the dish at all.
I can’t find any contact info. for who to speak to/email to voice a complaint. I don’t even know how to cancel my membership. Ridiculous!

Hijacked keyboard

Can’t get the second page or any other preliminary pages to scroll. Can’t sign in, it keeps crashing. Can’t use my keyboard of choice so I don’t have access to the password saver to save my sign in info. The final sign in page stays half hidden behind the key board and snaps back every time you pull it. One word….frustrating. I tried deleting Gronda but to no avail nothing changed. Want very much to see the content and apply to my working knowledge but looks like it’s not in the cards.

Realistically it’s just ok

They have posts of some really beautifully designed food that looks delicious however the recipes only tell how to make the base (chicken, beef, etc) dish when we’re interested in also the garnishes/ presentation “how to” aspect of it all. Unfortunately 99% of the recipes I’ve ran into do not tell you what the garnishes are or how to present the plate.

Real Chef Recipes

You can’t find recipes like these anywhere else. These are the really fancy kind that real chefs use.

Great content but technical glitches

Absolutely love the content but app crashes very frequently, or it won’t load or the videos will play at with the audio lagging. Just small but consistent technical glitches

Won’t let me sign in

I got Gronda because I thought it looked cool and I kept seeing it pop up on Instagram but it won’t let me sign in, I tried signing in with Facebook, my Apple account, and just creating an account with my email and none of it works. I’m not sure what the issue is

Could be better

I paid for it on iPhone and can only use it on that device. My iPad shows I paid but won’t let me watch videos. What a dud

By

Not a recipe app

Downloaded this because I thought it would have some creative recipes from creative professional and home chefs. In reality it’s just a bunch of people posting pictures of finished dishes with no recipes or instructions. Great looking dishes but no instructions on them.

Great site

Director of operations / Executive Chef

This is an app

Nicely developed app with features that are useful for those with opposable thumbs and who can see wavelengths of light from 400 to 700 nm. Very useful 👍🏽

Confused

I still dont really understand how to use Gronda. How to save things and where do they go when you save them.

By

Awesome

Beat food app out there

By

Pale

The idea is fantastic. Chefs sharing recipes and ideas with other chefs. But it seems like 75% of the contributors are just using this app as a photo gallery. A small percentage of the entries have an actual recipe. I can get better ideas for free on Instagram.

Turn sideways on an iPad

I’ll give it 4 stars when we can turn Gronda sideways on an ipad!
Really good app otherwise!

Don’t waist your time

Doesn’t load. Seems like it’s here to steal your data.

after gazing this app and seeing it's commercials for 2 years, i finally got the one year subscription and am already regretting it.. my old way of scrolling instagram and getting deep into my big cookbooks is still more effective than losing my content, saved settings and my mind on this app. all together like manyin fine dining says, it does have great content, but if i cant even open the thing in a browser, even after 60 bucks subscription and the crappy app on my phone keeps crashing.. it's just simply not worth it. they need to get bigger servers and fix the app.

How much does the subscription actually cost please . I do not want to download it then see it is too expensive and have to cancel . It needs to be out front with the price
