Be warned that this is a sleazy company and you out have to be extremely careful how you cancel your subscription. I accidentally cancelled by terminating my subscription rather than canceling, which according to their “support” cannot be reversed (even though you can do it at will if you cancel), and you will not have access to a subscription you paid for, even if you have 30 days left.

Don’t bother looking for how to terminate a subscription, as there is nothing on the website that references terminating your plan, and actually provides their cancellation policy that only references having access through the end of your billing cycle.

$30 a month for a single camera that works like Livebarn is a ripoff. Combine that with their sneaky cancellation tactics and it’s clearly beat to stay away from this company.

It’s really cool to be able to sit and watch my son a thousand miles from here play a game with an announcer calling the plays. I’ve been able to watch some games where I think the announcer was a retired professional, stats, replays, the whole nine yards. Other times the crew doesn’t show up or they grab a scratch who thinks it’s fun to pan the ceiling when the other team scores. Most of the time it’s good… I do wish they had announcers for showcase games. Also, if game is delayed it would be nice to have some message on screen. If you can’t get to every game, I think it’s worth subscribing.

This product is terrible. I could talk about the one-camera shoots that never zoom, or zoom too much. The poor quality of the feed when the announcer is doing his own camera work, the burdensome and clunky interface for finding games or the number of games that just don’t have an announcer. But all of that is tolerable because you want to see your kids play hockey.

But the number of games that just aren’t shown is a disgrace. Paying $30 a month, you expect to get something. But with Hockey TV, there are an inordinate number of games with “technical difficulties at the rink” for which Hockey TV takes no responsibility.

You read that correctly. Hockey TV sells you a product, but disclaims any responsibility for providing the product... so if your kid plays eight games this month, and there are “technical problems” at six, Hockey TV keeps your $30, and you get the shaft.

HockeyTV should be de-platformed by Apple, because that’s how bad it is. By giving them access to HockeyTV Store, Apple is participating in this blatant rip off.

App is sorta limited in what you can do but the bigger problem is this app in general - most broadcasts are filmed by 8 year olds (bad zoom, pan, not centering shot, etc) BUT perhaps the worst decision this app makes is to put the score graphic at the top of the screen where it completely covers 1/2 of the play. Idiotic !!! Why not have it at the bottom of the screen where it will only cover the stands and not the actual ice surface...how hard is this,? Come on Hockey TV....also you might want to send some instructions on how to run a camera so your viewers don’t get sick watching.

I was so looking forward to viewing my nephew ‘s games. I have a new XS Max phone. When the feed is not in HD I cannot get it. They refuse to acknowledge that the problem is on their end or that they are using non-digital equipment at some arenas. From Rodman Arena I could get the feed from the NHL Rink but not the Olympic Rink. Then today the audio feed was messed up. Obviously the announcer was plugged into the wrong output. Again they deny responsibility. I requested a phone number to contact management during business hours and was told one is not available. I’ve never been so disappointed in an APP.

Believe the negativity. These people are absolutely raking in cash and know their service is sub par. This review is not about HockeyTV alone, it’s about this app in general. Jesus Christ, the streams are AWFUL for the price. The yearly subscription cost must be a joke. I can’t imagine anyone other than travel players parents purchasing this. The team you want to watch probably isn’t viewable under community, and you won’t be told that before purchasing a useless subscription and being pulled into a more expensive one. Unfortunately if you want to watch junior hockey, this is probably your only route.... and the devs know it.

I’ve used free apps that are way better. This is one of the worst apps, and not just because of the quality of the videos (which are more awful than good - and NONE are terrific), but also the number of times the connection hangs, or is lost (especially with live games), and the menu layouts. It’s as if a bunch of 3rd graders put this thing together. The phone and tablet versions are especially bad. And they haven’t updated the version for a year. DO NOT spend money on this craptastic app!

I live on the West Coast my son is playing hockey on the East Coast. this app is an option for our family to enjoy watching him play and to root him and his team on from afar. The quality of the video can be challenging to view even on our 60 inch TV depending on which venue Is hosting, but some is better than none. I do have a hard time with the time difference. Some of the games are shown one hour different, some are live. Try it out.

My son plays Junior hockey and we can’t make all of the away games because they are too far. We depend on Hockey TV to watch these games and it often fails us. Today, they claim there was an internet issues at the rink, although Live Barn wasn’t having an issue. When you contact their support, you get the same answers every time. They don’t guarantee games will be able to be viewed. Sad that they basically steal people’s money. You pay for a service that you can only get sometimes. They should be ashamed of themselves!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Customer service is horrible and they are robbing people of their money. If I could watch my kids games on another platform I would but unfortunately they are the only option. They charge for sub par service and constant technical difficulties. Claim nothing is their fault and put it all back on the user who unknowingly gets charged and offers no refunds. Awful company!

I had HockeyTV to watch our son play and cast it to our tv using Chromecast. It worked okay last year but I deleted HockeyTV due to a glitch and when I reinstalled it you can no longer cast the games. This makes it useless for us
The person that I just read his review is also right. There seems to be no controls in place to check quality and it is very expensive and is the only option.

Fast hockey/hockey tv isn’t worth the money they charge. I had it for years and just cancelled it. Hockey tv will tell u most places have a volunteer working it, so why do they charge a ridiculous annual fee? They always want specific games your having trouble with... how about the overall service and price!!!! More people need to cancel...and maybe they will change. It’s less expensive to get NHL Center ice which is professionally done!

The video quality is based on the home team and what cameras they use! It has nothing to do with hockey TV so get over it. Complain to your hockey teams!

I have had trouble watching every single game, it either freezes, goes back to the beginning of the game randomly multiple times a game or I have to close the video out and start over. I miss a lot of the game just because of the poorly put together app. The website wasn’t much better- same “glitches”.

Going into my 4th year with them and they have gotten worse every year, they drop games, don’t air games, or they continue to lock up, I contacted customer support multiple times and get the “ we are working on it “ answer and then they just ignore me and won’t respond to any other questions the only reason they got one star is because you can’t leave a negative star!

Really miss the 15 second forward/backward option they had. Would be able to replay a score really quick but now it doesn’t and is suchhhh a pain to try and go back as moving the time manually changes it by so many minutes

I just had my account auto renew at $100 more than what I had originally signed up and all of the discount promotions had recently expired. Choose you plan wisely and consider regional and monthly to save a LOT of $$. Feels like they are taking advantage of their best customers.

Buyer beware and hopefully this helps others not incur the same penalty I just suffered!!

The videography was extremely poor, often not even following the play; it is zoomed way out and the coverage for the tournament I watched only covered 1 game for my son’s team in the whole tournament, even though they made it to the semi-finals. Also, watch for the auto renew on even the 1 month subscription too! I contacted Customer Support, but they were unsympathetic. Not an experience I plan to repeat.

Hating HockeyTV update. It is less user friendly, harder to find games. You can’t pause, the back 15 seconds & forward 15 seconds is gone. The list goes on, go back to other version. No good & makes me very frustrated. If negative stars were an option I would give a -5 very disappointed. Unfortunately I have to give at least 1 star for this bc it makes you.

I have had no choice but this service to watch my son play. HockeyTV is temperamental and when you get a hold of customer service, they say “ nothing we can do”, when asking about a refund for games missed...reply is “we don’t do that at this time”. Cannot wait until someone else comes up with a better service, cause this one is TERRIBLE

Good news is many of the play-by-play announcers do a good job.

Those assets are lost on an app that does nearly everything poorly. Most of these comments are in regard to the Apple TV app, but are relevant here because iPhone/iPad screens are just too small to see anything - especially since the camera operators never zoom on the action or players. The only use for the mobile apps would be for data entry or device control of an Apple TV.

1. Apple TV app: every week I have to scroll through hundreds of teams to get to ours. And HockeyTV scrolls either too slowly, or way too fast. Simple solution is to add an index bar to the right!

2. No integration between Apple TV and iPhone/iPad. This would allow data entry on the iPhone to control the Apple TV.

3. Apple TV app: no Favorites! This would solve #1, to an extent.

4. No useful game info. A viewer needs several pieces of information to understand the game context.
- what period?
- what is the score?
- how much time left in the period?
- is there a penalty, and how much time is left?
- SOG is a nice to have
Doesn’t seem technically daunting to provide this. When it is displayed it is only time and score, which is almost always wrong.
5. The camera never zooms.

For $30/month they need to invest more on improving the entire platform. If there’s one ‘worst’, that would be #5 - without it we’re just looking at a video, not a hockey game.

HockeyTV needs some work. It seems that often times nothing happens when you click on a game and otherwise an error message will come up on the media player. Also cannot get the search function to work. Better luck with logging in through the browser.

HockeyTV really stinks. Just recently got HockeyTV and every single game that I have tried to watch there’s an issue with the video or the audio or both. Obviously the people responsible do not have their act together don’t bother with HockeyTV it’s a waste of time 😡😡😡.
