This is definitely the best app that I have used to keep track of my finances. I like the fact that I have to enter all the transactions in myself. Doing it that way keeps me more accountable. Really! Like the syncing between iPhone app and Mac app. Only thing that I have an issue with is being able to add credit cards on here to keep track of balances. I am not sure how to do that, I messaged help and their instructions weren’t very user friendly. Only videos that I have found I like about it you have to pay for 🤦🏾‍♂️. Excellent app aside from that.

Finances 2 is a solid, customizable, personal finance app.

I appreciate the ease of use and the smart automatic "double-entry" system. It just makes simple sense to enter a transaction once and have it auto-deduct from the source(s) of payment.

I also appreciate that I can solidly track and back up my personal financial information—on my own terms—without having to rely on releasing my day-to-day banking information to "free" third party financial apps.

For a variety of reasons, I prefer NOT to willingly hand over my financial information (to organizations beyond my own banking institutions) to then have it be mined for data in order to market and target financial sales and other products back to me. There's enough of that craziness going on.

And finally I am not interested in paying monthly fees to balance my personal and business finance. That's just not necessary with easy capture and entry systems; smart tools like Finances 2.

I’ve been looking for a truly capable book keeping app like this for ages. It’s powerful and incredibly useful, but be warned that if you’re looking for a tool that doesn’t require much work on your end, there are probably better tools for you.

I recommend manual book keeping in addition to whatever other finance management tools you use.

Expensive, but worth it if you’re going to use it long term. I recommend trying it out before purchasing the full version or the macOS version.

Finances2 looks fantastic. You can quickly add income or expenses. I really like the double-entries and the scans look great. I am impressed and it made it to my home screen!

I'd like to see a real 'dark mode' instead of using Apple's Accessibility settings. It would be nice to have a widget as well.

I also would like control over notifications. Add the ability to have some sort of reminders to check in on status of payments, reminder to enter invoices, etc.

The main screen, showing the journals could be larger. I only have two journals and I somewhat have to try to make sure I tap on the correct one. Make them dynamic boxes possibly?

I see that we can backup via iTunes or sharing to an app but I would love for there to be a backup option including automatic Dropbox syncing and the like. You can never have too many backups.

Finances2 is great in terms of features - only lacking multi-transaction / batch editing, which the developer reserves for the Mac version. But the battery impact is insane. Running Finances2 on three different iPhone models, over multiple updates to both app & iOS, and it still gets the phone burning hot. It can drain nearly 80% of the 12 pro max battery in under 3 hours! Why editing text in a database is so resource heavy is not at all clear. Scrolling through transactions is laggy on the latest & fastest hardware, and Finances2 crashes very frequently when editing transactions and making more than one or two changes.

I really want to use Finances2, it’s gorgeous! And the attention to detail is great.

The UI is excellent, the cognitive overload of the budgeting system makes the UX unnecessarily hard

Finances2 finally does all the main things I need. Great iOS and Mac support, drag and drop receipts onto transactions, and shows my running balance into the future for scheduled transactions. It’s been hard to find something that hits all these points, and I’m glad to drop Quicken now for all my spending tracking.

I do with it had support for stocks, as the underlying LedgerCI does offer this, but otherwise I am a very happy customer!!!

Of all the finance apps on iOS, this is my personal favorite to use!

Not only is it straight to the point, but there’s also no need to sign up for an account or sign up for a subscription! A one time payment and you’re good to go with all the features!

Huge plus for how responsive the developer is!

I’ve used Finances2 series since the first iteration and this one offers a unique, clean interface with easy to understand budget tracking. I have tried many of these apps over the years and finances beat them all a long time ago. With iOS 14 though a widget would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve used Finances2 since 2016 and I love it, I tested others apps and this is the one that works better for me. I had an issue on the last upgrade and the developer tried to help me but took so long to answer my emails. At the end I fixed by myself, Finances2 crashes when you use big font size on the cellphone.

Bought all in app purchases they had.
Couple things I wish to be changed though:

Ability to do a “return” on an item quickly
Slightly better UX on selecting where the money goes and comes from. Don’t really enjoy messing around with negative signs.

Finances2 design is intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. While Finances2 may not have many features, it’s very good at what it does and has a solid foundation. It’s up to date with iOS and macOS features, it’s nice to see the developer cares about this project.

I have spend months putting All of my tax info in Finances 1 under several different Journals, today I log in and get a message saying App is Damaged , delete app and reinstall. I’m do frustrated. I do not recommend Finances2. Whats to keep finances 2 from doing the same. I’m not able to log in to Finances 1 and link my date to new app. Looks like I will need to pay again also for the updated app.

I haven’t had Finances for very long but so far it is the best app that I have found for my business as a DIY landlord. I will update my review after longer use. GREAT so far!!

This may be great for some people but I found it very complicated. I wasted $ and can’t figure it out. I just wanted an app that I could take a picture of business receipts to track for taxes. But this is full blown finance which would be great for business owners and tracking personal finances. But not for just tracking business expenses.

I’ve used the OG Finance app for yeeeeeears and I denied the “upgrade” for months because I knew in my heart what I was doing what perfection. And one day opened my Finance App and it was EMPTY after yeeeeears of logging... this new App wouldn’t even acknowledge that I purchased Finances2 before ...
I REpurchased Finances2 and it is utter BULL. It’s so difficult to navigate and does not lay my expenses or income the way it has done before... I regret paying The measly $5 for this Bull...

Finances2 itself is great. It’s a good double entry accounting program. However, syncing does not work. Finances2 hangs indefinitely when trying to restore a purchase. Syncing with iCloud works only a fraction of the time. Finances2 seems to not receive updates anymore. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Finances2 any longer.

Don't listen to these fools about manual entry. Anyways is it possible to add a password function? Don't want peeps seeing my stash you know. Also if we can sync when on the same wifi versus to iCloud or adding alternative syncing other then iCloud would be appreciated.

You download Finances2 , no cost.
You then get to a screen that forces you to purchase, or purchase a 14 day trial - which is zero cost you still get pushed through the in-app purchase process.

Nothing you can do without going through that process. Misleading.

Great app. Very simple as long as you understand double-entry bookkeeping. Pleased to use it.

Finances2 has helped me keep track of my finances and made me more aware of my spending habits. The aesthetics of Finances2 is like the apple aesthetics apps, which helps me not be distracted and its feels like it’s a native app to the iOS environment.

One thing I will like for it be added is a custom export option which it remembers the options I’ve selected. Whenever I do a balance report it always have opening account selected and I have to deselect it.

I’m giving it a 4 stars bec of the fact that I have learn something new. regarding finances base on double-entry system. And while I was playing around on it, it suddenly crashed, and pretty much I don’t remember how or why it happened, or where was it which page I was looking at. Hard to recall which page was it when it crashed, but still Finances2 is very good, and probably (I believe) the only good app out there that based on double entry system.
I appreciate the fact also that the developer himself replied to my email when I reported the crash.
