Worldpackers Travel the World Reviews

So, I recently found out that you can become and expert workdpacker and they had programs you could sign up for etc. So I'm logged in and go to check out the programs and it tells me to "log in to apply"

I already am logged in? Anyways, I click the button to log in and it takes me to the log in screen so I login through facebook and it takes me back to the home screen. So I go to click on my profile page where it has the "Become and expert" button and it logs me out of my account. So naturally I log back in and it's just a never ending cycle. It says I'm logged in but when I go to check out the expert programs it says I'm not when I AM. It even logs me out when I go to click on my profile. I would like to become and expert but WorldpackersTraveltheWorld keeps saying I'm not logged in and I haven't logged in when I am c l e a r l y on my account. Fix it, please, it's very frustrating.

Worldpackers collects $50 from travelers by selling a false expectation that people can get free stays in exchange of volunteer “work” which they pitch in a way that doesn’t sound like work. We were a host on the platform and the first 5 travelers who came really had no interest whatsoever in working at all. The first traveler wanted to tour the island the second day of work, the second traveler never showed up, the third one ended up upgrading to a paid room once they understood there was volunteer work involved otherwise and the fourth went on vacation after two days of volunteering. Don’t waste your $50 for the false hope they sell you. If you’re truly interested in volunteer work, all the NGOs including our our NGO have websites that advertise for volunteer positions. You can Google and you will find them at no cost to you.

I was really excited to find this program, and so I went ahead and paid the membership fee. After using it for a few hours I noticed a few issues that could be fixed for UI. For example, when you open a position and you read under activities, it gets cut off in the bottom. I also noticed when I was inputting my background info the text would run off to the side and get cut off as well. I may consider just using the website instead but so far it’s been fine.

So I’m planning an upcoming trip to Latin America. Very excited to try out Worldpackers for the first time and psyched by all the things I’ve read about it.

The review is purely for WorldpackersTraveltheWorld itself. When I go to the Academy section, nothing I click on works, even the Continue Watching intro series on “How to be an outstanding worldpacker”. I basically have to go to the mobile site to watch.

Everything else works fine but when a whole tab malfunctions it’s kind of a bummer. I downloaded it yesterday too so I know I have the latest version.

It does make you pay 50$ but that’s nothing in exchange for what it offers you! I bought the full version and now I’m doing what I love full time !

I’m tired of traveling app like this that tout Verification by payment of a subscription or fees. That’s only verifying I’m paying for membership services not because I or anyone else is a safe trustworthy person! Where are the requirements for background checks? Personal references? Of both parties.
Also, if I can only find one or two opportunities (with no guarantees I’ll get either host spot) and have no plans on making this a yearly lifestyle why should I pay $50 for it?!!! Ridiculous!
App doesn’t state membership required to apply for position!

I found a few cool sounding opportunities but read the reviews and found 1 star reviews that detailed being manipulated or abused by their host. I’m confused why those listings are still allowed to be up and now suspicious of the safety of any of the ones on WorldpackersTraveltheWorld since it seems like there is a carelessness towards potential travelers by not removing unsafe situations or screening hosts.

WorldpackersTraveltheWorld itself holds all the information but it’s not very device friendly on my opinion. It’s hard to narrow down opinions and then has gotten buggy as well, but other that that it’s good for the little that it offers and keeping in touch with the other members.

Not good for searching opportunities at all in my opinion

What about paid if they going to let you work really hard you should get paid as well

I downloaded WorldpackersTraveltheWorld for the first time today. Unfortunately I was not able to signup with Facebook. When I tried to use email signup, I got stuck at giving my birth date. The datePicker somehow shows blank and I was not able to pick my birth date on the picker so I couldn’t complete the signup process. What’s good about WorldpackersTraveltheWorld if user can’t signup and use it? :(
