I initially got in on the beta program. But I’ve now got about 6 months of use under my belt. I love it, it’s my go to place to see if I’ll be observing tonight. Unlike other star viewing weather predictors, this one is very easy to interpret. I just look at how they rate visibility for the hours I wish to view. Rated anywhere from excellent to poor and a percentage.
It’s not 100% accurate but your talking about an app that is predicting viewing conditions all over the world. My local weatherman is wrong much more than StarCasterNightSkyAstronomy. It takes into account cloud cover, darkness, temp, humidity, and winds.
Even if your just a casual observer or someone deep into Astrophotography, or someone in the middle like me. You owe it to yourself to try it. Also when you do, help make it better for everyone by reporting your actual conditions if they are different from the predictions. Without feedback the programmers can’t tweak it to constantly improve it. Thank you for this valuable tool in my Amateur Astronomy tool box.
