NOAA Aviation Live Sky Weather Reviews

I downloaded NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather to see if it was worth while. I was able to zoom in to my home airport and as soon as I hit the weather button I had a constant barrage of ads. One after another, one would pop up hang out for less than a second then close only to be replaced by another one. This cycle continued until I closed NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather . I deleted NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather when I closed it.

Update: The developer corrected the ad pop up issue. I can actually see the information that it’s supposed to show. The occasional ad does pop up and does cover the screeen but it’s quickly skipped by pressing on the screen somewhere other than the ad.

The only other flaw that I see now is the lack of all the airports.

The constant barrage of advertisements made me uninstall this excellent app. NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather constantly pops up an advertisement every few seconds making it difficult to read and interpret the weather data it presents. An excellent example of the anti-pattern of how to integrate advertising into your application. If the author was more respectful of the user, this would clearly be a 5 star app for what it provides. The obtrusive nature while using the free version turned me off from paying or subscribing to NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather ( which I would have done, if the developer was not rail-roading users into disabling the ads. ).

Perhaps if you had a user ID or subscription makes things different but where is the actual weather map. Map to select airport on a map is nice to get those local reports but I was unable to find actual weather map that shows lows, hi’s, wind direction etc, where air masses are moving. Maybe had the wrong expectation of what I thought this title was.
Hint: For those wanting to check this out for a little bit first before deciding, an ad in your face everything 30 secs covering the screen can get annoying.

As a pilot, I encourage you to have the premium. It is way too updated. It also enhances my knowledge of METAR and TAF through quizzes. It also gives alerts to my favorite airports. I can increase the font size in the premium version too.

Deleting app. NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather does not offer enough airfields. Additionally the primary airfield I operate from, KNDZ Whiting Field, FL is not offered to see the METAR. Additionally when you search for the KNDZ ICAO identifier it shows some other airport!

I got it, it’s free so it will have apps. However when the ad pops up in the middle of your screen randomly, and you have to tap off screen to make it go away, that is a safety of flight issue and annoying!

Not sure how NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather has almost 5 stars.

I just installed and looks good so far but kind of very annoying to continue seeing adds even after getting premium version. Why can’t add be removed when one gets premium version. I don’t see my self using NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather for long. Will probably find a different one I can subscribe to premium and not have adds popping up.

I usually don’t give app reviews. In fact, this might be the first app review I’ve ever done but I’m giving in finally. I use NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather every day and it asks me pretty much every time to write a review so here it is.

Excellent app! I’m a USAF pilot and NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather is a great way to get a scoop on what the weather will be like. 5 stars.

Your app is now littered with political ads that make further use distasteful. I even purchased the option to remove ads but NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather is still peppered with them. What made your developers think that a user wants to see a political ad every single time they want to check the current wind or visibility?

Update: Obviously the developer doesn’t care, let alone read reviews fully, as can be seen in their auto reply to this review.

Just gives me a lot of what I need to see what the weathers doing currently and in the future I reading the meter and the TAF if needed . And I just started using NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather just got my part 107 pilot license. This will help me a lot is I’m starting the aerial photography business

One R/C clubs local field for 40+ years is 4mi off approach to
#4 ILS. That proximity gives club members nearly real time field flight conditions. Club field proximity to U.S. East coast not only influences wind conditions but ceiling as well as horizontal visibility. It is so nice to know the conditions at the field before driving twenty miles to it!

I would happily give 5stars to NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather anytime! Can’t relate to other reviews since I use it just about every day and didn’t face much of a problem. The ads especially. No complaints seriously!

Non-intrusive ads are displayed every minute in the free version but it is not annoying to me honestly. I mean technically, this kind of technology really makes things a lot easier deciphering raw METAR and TAF codes and stuff, that just steals the show.

I enjoy reading the metars, I use it more that watching the weather. Also very helpful when first learning to read the metars because it explains what it is in the lower section. I use it several times a day

I’ve used NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather for several years and really liked it, but recently someone thought it would be a good idea to have giant pop up ads that block out most of your screen pop up about every 30-60 seconds. These huge ads pretty much render NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather useless. After dealing with these things the past few days, I finally gave up and deleted NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather . It was good while it lasted.

All the information is reliable and accurate. I hope the developers are looking into how to get more airports on the map, in which they do have all the important ones and many others. And all the reports for the locations they do have are accurate and updated.

Wonderful app works as advertised it’s go to for weather and notices. You can’t go wrong with it. Small Jab user interface is a little old school. I’m sure over time that will change.

I am a student pilot and regularly use this for my flight lessons. It gives me the most recent METARs and TAFs, and decodes them for me. Even when not flying, I use this to practice decoding in my own.

NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather has been super useful to me but for some reason even though it knows I paid for the premium features, it won’t let me use them. I’ve tried clicking the restore purchase button and it acknowledges it, but I still can’t change text size or anything. I would gladly update to five stars once this is fixed.

I use it for weather updates and when planning drone flights. never had issues and it helps to review the Metars so I can read them quickly.

I don’t mind ad banners at the bottom or
the top, but NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather has an internal timer of about 15 seconds that it will jam a big ad cover the majority of the screen. It’s extremely annoying and frustrating, especially when using in flight and i need a little more time to read the screen. Would be perfect except for the ads blocking.

It’s all you need as a pilot or a weather enthusiast. Simple and easy to use giving you maximum up to date information.

Love NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather ! Frequent user. Any chance you can update it to allow for pinch zoom of the text? The font is quite small. It would be great to zoom in and scroll as needed. With that feature it would be 5 stars!

Understanding the weather is part of every drone pilots "go or no go decision" is based on the weather. This is by far the best app I've found. Also for those who are training for the commercial license exam, an awesome way to learn METAR and TAF language.

NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather is great with the respect of having aviation weather at your fingertips for every airport I have been flying to. I am able to get all my information such as METARs, TAFs and pilot reports.

Whether you are an aviation enthusiast or a pilot of any sort, NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather does a great job of helping you gauge the current conditions and planning your flight accordingly!

Great app. This is how apps should be. Simple and very helpful. This is my go to app for quick checks of Conditions as a student pilot.

NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather works very well but the font is just too small for me to read, and I cannot find a way to change the font to a larger size. So the fault is in my old eyes, but this fault limits the utility of NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather .

Takes super long to load up data, even major airports take forever. Other than that NOAAAviationLiveSkyWeather works good

No issues. Works well and accurate. Haven’t used all the features yet. So far so good.
