Avoid if You Don’t Want a Bigger Moving Headache

If I could give negative stars, I would. If you are in need of a moving truck last minute, this is the last thing you want to waste your time dealing with. From the very start renting the truck is a pain. Initially, you reserve the truck and think that you are good, only to open FluidTruck and see a denial, but never receive an email or anything telling you more details. When clicking further on FluidTruck , I see it is asking me to submit my ID again, so I did. Only to have the same denial 5 min later. I tried one more time, I guess that time is when it went through but again, FluidTruck does not give you any notifications. So it wasn’t until I received a text saying to upload photos of the vehicle that I even knew I had a reservation. So of course, I had to reach out and say that I didn’t need it because I didn’t even receive anything saying I was approved. I was told to log out and back in to see the update and of course now I could but it does me no help. I was told they couldn’t cancel the reservation since it was already in progress. But I didn’t have any thing nor did I even know so how is it in progress! Avoid avoid avoid! The last thing you need is a bigger headache during a crazy time like moving. Fluid Truck is like the Spirit Airlines of moving truck companies. You get what you pay for

They don’t care about your safety or your business

As soon as I picked up the vehicle for my first rental I noticed there was a significant mechanical issue. It felt like the rear end of the pickup was on its way out. I went to call support and found they only offered email support. I messaged them asking them to swap vehicles as I could not make another reservation with one active. 14 hours later I received a response telling me I would need to return the truck and cancel the reservation. I responded saying there is no way to cancel. I never received a response. I guess locking the back axel while cruising down the highway with 3000 lbs of stuff in the truck is no biggie. Also the truck had no horn, broken wiper blades and barely functional headlights.

Figuring it was more the truck than the company I attempted to reserve another vehicle to make a delivery. When attempting to make the reservation I received an error stating that I was over my limit. After checking I saw that the previous reservation was still active even though the status said returned and the owner had completed inspection. I guess that $5000 delivery can wait until next week!!!

Good idea bad execution

Allowed to book a truck even though it wasn’t available. I even doubt if they operate in my city as they were quick to ask me to register by showing trucks available near my location(not sure if those were actual trucks or just placeholders to fool potential customers into registering). But as soon as I registered and made the payment I was told the truck isn’t available anymore. Perhaps, to buy time, they started asking me for additional verification docs over email ( I had already shared my DL on their site at the time of registration) . If they really needed those additional verification documents, why didn’t they ask me for them when I was registering/booking and already providing docs at the time of registration on their website. Why should they be asking it over email?

Do not waste your time!

Schedule a cargo van over a week in advance, the week of they canceled it without reason. Ok fine- I rescheduled it and on the day of, 2 hours prior to my scheduled move they cancelled it!! AGAIN!! However, I didn’t see the cancellation until I arrived at the pick up. No one called or texted me. I had scheduled movers to help and all they could do was offer another van at a completely different location 20+ miles away which would put me over the 100mile fee. They offered me a discount on my next reservation but how can I trust rebooking if they will cancel it with out reason. Now, every vehicle is “reserved” and I can’t even reschedule! Huge waste of time! Now I’m stuck looking for a replacement while they still have my money due to their limited business hours!

Great value/ easy extra $$

I’ve own a box truck and have been using the fluid app to lease it out to people in my area for about 5 months now and I find it a great way to make a little extra income and offer a great service at a reasonable price to my community. Our lenders always comment about how low our rates are compared to the big corporate rentals. Highly recommend to both owners and renters!

Fluid actually costs more to rent and pads markets

Fluid sounded so cool when i found it. Per to peer rental of large cargo vehicles. Perfect since most of us need a truck or van to move/bring home one item or load. What i found was a market with only fluid owned vehicles and the usual if not more restrictive terms for mileage. Even the big guy do better then 100 miles $0.39 per mile after. In this digital economy markets have grown to regional impact. Shouldn't the mentality of with ‘revolutionary way to rent trucks’ allow for people collecting items from a neighboring state such as 250 miles away? There should be an option beyond a criminal 39 cents a mile to a daily overage fee. Possibly set regions such as neighboring state or distances like 260 miles. FluidTruck is about innovation so let really innovate

Truck was good but nickled and dimed on fees

I was happy with the truck. But my first reservation was rejected and then I was asked to make a slightly different reservation for a slightly higher fee. It was hard to find the actual truck based on the listed address. I paid the weekly rental rate for four days but was charged for mileage over 400. Basically you’re better off renting just one day for a close move or for all seven days if you need to drive more miles (even if you don’t need the truck for seven days). So expect a few kinks with their pricing and customer experience.

Do NOT lend your truck out through this business!!!

This business is a complete joke!!! I would give them negative 10 stars, I feel like it is managed by a group of several children. The idea that they insure your vehicle is a complete LIE. I loaned out my truck through FluidTruck, the borrower blew the engine and wrecked the bumper, doing 14k worth of damage. Four weeks later, after a so called ‘investigation’ with very minimal communication and ‘we will get back to you with a decision by the end of the day’...they somehow determined that they won’t pay a dime. It’s a great concept to have a sharing economy gone very wrong by their own greed and horrible customer service. BEWARE!!!

All about Fluid Trucks

I’ve had my pick-up truck on Fluid for about year now. All my neighbors Iove it. It pays pays a third of my mortgage and doesn’t take a ton of time to manage. I see other lenders on the platform are building fleets. Thinking about doing the same. FluidTruck can be buggy at times but seems to be getting better. Highly recommend!

Worst service ever.

Two rentals and two times there has been no vehicle there. Drive over an hour to pick up a vehicle and it isn’t where it is supposed to be. The lenders can’t be reached and there is only an email for customer service. If a vehicle isn’t available after you have rented it, you get a shrug and told they can cancel your reservation. Two-three hours of driving, waiting two plus hours for a vehicle to show up after it is rented and the offer is to cancel my reservation....because obviously I just don’t need the truck anymore. Save yourself from a total nightmare!!!!!

Everything went well. We loved the experience overall. Wanted to test this service for the first time. Love the locking and picking up of the truck. Nice service and as per my review of charges before picking up, seems to be cheaper than the competition. Thank you!

Easy. Breezy Truck y’all!

Love being able to make money off of my truck when I’m not using it on the weekends. Thinking about buying a few more as I love how Fluid rewards you for your assets vs having to drive around in an Uber or Lyft to get paid. And honestly I only need my truck 30-40 days out of the year for hauling.

Great service, mediocre app

FluidTruck is frustrating to use. Finding the information you want is painful, if it’s even possible.

In the middle of a rental and want to know what time it’s due back? Well, sorry.

What’s that little warning icon next to the “Inspection notes”? No idea. Doesn’t go away, no indication of what it means, if I did something wrong or what I’ll be charged as a result.

Why does it always display the message from Fluid constantly saying “Your reservation starts in 10min!”? Why are there two places in FluidTruck to get messages?

That said, I liked the truck rental part a lot. It was cheap and quick. I wish the truck had cruise control but I think that’s par for the course in rental vans.

Had to love a couch, fluid made it super easy!!!

As the title says, has to move a couch. Re served a truck from fluid. Picked it up and was driving away in way less then five minutes!! Dropping it off took even less time!! Can’t say enough amazing things about fluid truck!!!

Better than any commercial rental company

Super easy app and better pricing than all other commercial rental companies. Used the service for a ride up to the mountains with parents and couldn’t fit everyone in my vehicle, so this was the best option. Will be recommending to others. Great concept.

Love this service.

We moved two hours away from our current location. Fluid is a cost effective, convenient and easy way to get around the typical overpriced and outdated fleet of other rental vehicles.

We have used Fluid twice and both vans had usb and Bluetooth as well as back up cameras. This is very convenient for long drives and maneuvering in a big van.

Pick up and drop off is very simple and easy to navigate. Van opens up via FluidTruck and locks the same way. Very user friendly app and system.

Great experience

My only issue was that in the same parking lot, there were 2 identical fluid trucks...it was hard to determine which vehicle was mine, and I actually submitted photos on FluidTruck for the wrong truck, at which time, I then sent photos to the owner of the correct vehicle.

SUPER EASY PROCESS!!!

Everything was easy from reserving to returning! Car was great too! I was a little apprehensive about doing the whole car share thing but everything went perfect! Totally recommend!!

Fluid Truck

Really awful experience. Was charged a deposit for a rental, that’s fine. Was given a late charge for fuel when I refilled, they reversed this so also fine. One month later the deposit is still in their hands and they are trying to offer free rentals rather than returning it! Unreal. After multiple calls and messages still have not gotten headway.

Fair warning! It’s going to end up more expensive and a bigger headache in the end!

I’ve borrowed and loaned using the Fluid app. It is super easy to use and saves me tons of money. I had to reach out to app support one time and they were quick to respond and resolved my user error issue immediately.

Doesn’t scroll the review

iPhone app - when writing my review, which was kinda long, one it got down to the keyboard it just kept going...under the keyboard window...so I could not see what I was typing. Should just auto scroll where my cursor is.

In fact that functionality works fine in this review app...so know a developer can do it!

Very Spotty App

Took me about 10 minutes to create a new account and upload drivers license. App kept freezing when attempting to submit a profile picture, and then again when I tried to take a picture of my drivers license. Approval process was very quick once I was able to create an account.

One of your fluid trucks just flew through my neighborhood. I live in South Lake Tahoe. Near Tallac Ave. and Berkeley Ave. This truck was driving too fast on a white snow covered street. The corner has a STOP sign that they obviously did not see. They blew through the intersection. Not a driver I would hire. 4:03pm. Look it up.

This must be the dumbest company on the planet...they want to "disrupt" the rental industry however they deny people from booking a rental? And for what who knows, a valid driver's license should allow you to rent any vehicle. Driving record shouldn't come into play. I bet if I checked the owners and employees driving records they wouldn't be allowed to rent their vehicles either. Absolute garbage and its no wonder they have so many horrible reviews. Clearly need new management.

Booking was fairly easy but first the address they gave me took me to the wrong adresss and I was on a tight schedule so after searching finally found the address was a whole different street than what they list, which is also different from where they send you. Of the 10 vans on the lot that weren’t being used (and we only booked our for a few hours) they gave us the one with massive dents, side panelling missing, light banged in and the inside in disrepair. I thought, fine, it’s just a cheap moving van. Of course they parked a van with a flat tire so close that I could hardly get out of the spot. Before I even tried I looked at the tires and read the warning on the dash. It said that the tire pressure was not okay and I realised it was unsafe to drive. At this point I tried contacting support multiple ways. The texting line went silent. The number that’s meant to take you to the lender didn’t go to him, and the line for fluid truck support… still on hold 30 minutes later. Emailed them saying I can’t get ahold of anyone and the response I got was to call customer service. Finally got ahold of someone and they tried getting us in another car. That took another 30 minutes to do that. Finally got another location 20 minutes away (and further from our destination). Luckily we didn’t need to return the van to this location because when we arrive the gate was open, but was closed after we left and no gate code was provide and customer service said she didn’t have one listed either. We started going to the new place. Half way there I saw inside of the actual reservation notes that it listed a different address than the one listed when booking. Sure enough, arrived at the location and there was no van. Tried texting the new person I had been talking to and no response from them. Back on hold to ask them to cancel this reservation and because it took so long we lost our ability to go pick up the furniture we wanted and wasted half of a day & expensive gas driving around. Great idea… but they have a long way to go to make this a safe, customer centered experience. I now understand why uhaul can charge more.

Terrible Experience - a homeless man was in one of their trucks and opened the door when I tried to take pictures of the van for the app inspection - I did not rent the truck and was scared for my safety - the man was dishelved and could have endangered my safety - how could a company not know there was a homeless guy in their truck - don’t they check their trucks ???? This was totally crazy on top of that they are holding my funds for 5-7 business days and not immediately refunding the funds they took?? Don’t use this company !!

I am reporting a driver incident of a Fluid Truck, 8/3/2021, ~10:30PST, temporary license plate # 3224355, dated August 6, 2021, I was riding my motorbike in Hood River, OR. On the SW corner of 1st Street and Oak Street there is a designated motorcycle parking area. Likely large enough for QTY 4 motorcycles. A Fluid Truck delivery van was in front of me. The van made a right hand turn onto 1st Street. With the designated motorcycle parking area empty the driver quickly adjusted his turn and drove into the motorcycle parking area and parked. Not realizing the driver was doing this I was surprised in the middle of my right hand turn and had to abruptly stop causing me to drop my motorcycle to the pavement. Fortunately travel forward was minimal. My motorcycle, a 2009 BMW F650GS with ~6000 miles was in near perfect condition. Considered a light collector bike. It now is scratched and would no longer be show worthy. The driver was kind enough to help me stand the motorbike up since he knew he was in the wrong. I did say some explicit words asking the driver what he thought he was doing. The driver immediately moved his van, but the damage to me(my left leg, and the motorbike) was already done. Likely the van is leased to a delivery type company, so you, Fluid Truck will be able to push this under the carpet and ignore this message. Why am I writing this note/message: 1) the driver should be released of his position for him breaking parking regulations; 2) I would like to be reimbursed for the damages to my motorbike. This is the first time the motorbike has been dropped, and not being my fault, I am quite distraught. A quick review of the motorbike damages, I would estimate damage to be $400>$600. Thank you for reading this message. I have pictures to backup the license plate number and the damage to my leg chin. But, I do not know how to attach the pictures to this message.
