VINwiki does nearly everything I expect and/or want from it. It allows users to relatively easily track their own cars history or the history of cars they find interesting.

My only suggestion for VINwiki at the moment is that I wish there was a way to block certain users from your global feed. I’d like to branch out and see new cars and users still, but some people post religiously and what can seem at times as non-stop about cars I don’t personally care about. They should definitely keep posting how they like, but I wish I didn’t have to also see the sea of R32 Golfs (for example) as it can hide other peoples posts and discourages me from scrolling through the rest of the feed.

I really enjoy VINwiki, and I think it’s a great idea, but when using it there were a few things that I felt were missing. First when using the search function, having a way to filter by year, make, model, and other filters would be useful. When creating a post for a car having a box for exterior color and interior color would be useful and help when searching for specific cars. Also the ability to edit your own post and to be able to reposition pictures, because they don’t always post correctly. Thanks for reading

I work security and usually I can catch plate numbers when something happens before the guilty party takes off. The major issue with plate numbers is they are easily removed or switched.. I use your app at least 2 or 3 times in a work week to convert the plate numbers into the vin number of the guilty party. Doing so has allowed my local police to find more guilty people because I’ve provided them the vin and plate among other useful info. Without VINwiki it would be harder for me to pull vins that easy. So thank you guys for making my job infinitely easier!

VINwiki is pretty good, but iPad support would be nice to have so that you can use VINwiki like you’re on a laptop looking at a database of stuff. Almost like you’re like a professional that needs to look up VIN numbers, and can just quickly look it up on the iPad, which would be the equivalent of a laptop. You would also have a lot more screen real estate, so you can put more information on one screen. This would also help those who might want to see this information on a bigger screen instead of a tiny iPhone, which I’m sure many people with poor eyesight, but is passionate about VINs would love to have.

This has been such a fun way to follow and discover vehicles of all kinds and with a myriad of histories and stories to tell. Just yesterday I discovered a beautiful Aston Martin DB11 I saw at a car show was a restored total loss flood car, and I would have never known. I’ve found posts of my collector car from other users that I’ve really appreciated. It could use a few more options to edit posts and make easier connections with others, but the features here work really well, VINwiki is polished. I’m loving it, and I can’t wait to see more.

VINwiki is incredible! We’ve needed this platform for a long time. PL82VIN is an incredible feature! I’d like to be able to use it for posting classics by their plate/tag as well. What I really want to see is PDF upload support. Important documents worth sharing in a vehicles history really deserve to be in that format rather than a photo upload.

VINwiki is garbage. At first it was pretty easy to use, but once I switched phones, I couldn’t view any of my previous posts or profile, but it shows that I have posts. I tried searching the cars I posted by vin only to find that all my info I posted was gone. Lists weren’t saved either. VINwiki has so much more to work on on, it already has the community but it’s limitations make it not worthwhile to use. I tried going on the website and it’s just as bad. No way to view your profile or posts, and it doesn’t save hardly anything. VINwiki could take some ideas from wheelwell which is a much more developed website with similar ideas to this. Spend a little money and hire someone to redo the entire app and I’ll come back, at this point I’m moving on.

We were involved in a hit and run and one of the witnesses got a blurry picture of the license plate. Through VINwiki we were able to check plate numbers to the model of vehicle, and through the process of elimination we were able to find the plate and vin number of the vehicle that hit us. With that information the police were then able to find the perpetrator.
Amazing app!

VINwiki as amazing and I have been on for over two years. I do think a notification feature should be added and more support for support for iPad. This will probably never happen because i don’t see an update coming soon, although Ed reassured us on instagram an update will be soon. I see why there is no update... there is no need for them!

VINwiki is amazing. It has a great community, great UI, a dedicated team working on making it better, and some great potential. It’s more than just an app to keep track of your car for the next owner, it’s a chance to be a part of a great community with car lovers and enthusiasts alike. Keep it up team, can’t wait to see where VINwiki goes in the future!

You have sone great storytellers.
I’m a huge Porsche fan and fan of all things with power and style.
Owner a few Porsche’s , still have some and some other classics. Great seeing what is on here and finding old loves and some new ones. Never can have enough of a good thing. Beautiful exotic women, fast cars and good scotch .

This is a wonderful idea and a fun and informative app for car enthusiasts. No ads either. I’ve been using VINwiki every day for months.

Features I’d love to see:
- Add multiple photos to a post
- Tag other vehicles in a post: if you have a photo of two cars together, you have to post them on both and write the other vehicle’s VIN on the post.
- Edit posts: far too often I make a typo, and I can’t edit it so I have to delete it. I’d at least like to have the ability to copy the text so I can paste it rather than typing it all over again.
- “Like” comments
- “Save” or “Follow” posts you want to go back to later.

This is one of the best car apps I have ever downloaded. It has helped me to learn the backstory of a few cars that I was looking at purchasing. This is a very helpful resource. My one suggestion is to have all cars in a list organized by year and vin. So that the earliest production cars will be near the top, and the newest towards the bottom.

To start, this is a really great idea. Being able to tell a car’s story is one of the holy grails in the car world. How many times have you looked at a car and thought, “I wonder where this car has been. What has it seen?” VINwiki allows you to do just that. I can’t wait to see where VINwiki goes.

A must-have app for car nerds and vehicle fanatics alike. I think it lives up to my expectations, very neat community and easy-to-use features. Also, no ads! The lists really bring everything together, literally. Quite fun for carspotting, but VINwiki is great even if you love motorcycles, trucks, buses, or other vehicles.

VINwiki and idea are very cool, but I’m shocked to see VINwiki was last updated 2 years ago. This means that the aspect ratio isn’t correct for the latest iPhones and it won’t fill the screen completely. This is a really simple update for a developer to complete. There are also some minor usability things that should be fixed. If these issues are resolved I would give it 5 stars, but for now I have to give it 3.

Thanks to VINwiki I was able to see the true story of the car I was looking to buy. I used this info to enter into some shrewd negotiation with the owner of the car. I eventually got him down 4 grand from the original price. I ended up crashing the car, a (Lamborghini Gaillardo) but that’s no problem with VINwiki . Thank you VinkWiki.

Love VINwiki ! Lots of fun and you meet car enthusiasts in your area. I have posted over 6,000 cars in 6 months. Anything goes! Wether it’s your personal fleet or every interesting spot you see. There are Many ways of uploading cars wether by vin or by plate.(only US plate work on PL82VIN) and please don’t posts cars to the missing connections

So, there’s nothing inherently wrong with VINwiki . It works as expected. But that’s about the most I can say.

Trying to navigate vehicles that you submitted in a chore. Every time you enter a plate, you have to re-enter the state. It would be nice if you could set it to your home state, with the option to switch it if necessary.

It’s obnoxious that you HAVE to enter a comment when submitting a car. I usually revert to just saying the color of the vehicle because, for a random car, what do you say?

I’d also like to see a function that notifies you if a VIN has been reported stolen.

There are a number of other UI improvements that could be made. But as a basic app, it works and I really like using the site. It just deserves better.

It is a great app and the 10/31 incident happened when their backup overwritten everything, NOT the dev teams fault. There can be some new features but please stop rating it one star due to a product that malfunctioned. Also, be happy you don’t have to pay for such a great app! 🤩🤗

I love VINwiki and I use it all the time. However, it would be nice to be able to actually search all lists since that feature only works for lists you follow. Other thing is that it does get a little buggy here and there but I’m sure you guys are always working on it. I love the layout, however. It’s perfect. Thank you guys for creating VINwiki.

Edit: VINwiki really needs an update. On top of the other stuff I said, it REALLY gets buggy all the time and it hasn’t had an update in a year. I love VINwiki and I use it every day but where is the support?
