Bad

We bought this guitar for our 6 year old and thought it would be a great way to learn guitar. Not so much and LoogGuitar certainly doesn’t help. We obviously don’t know how to play guitar, we want to learn. The pictures of the chords are confusing. Do we play just one string with the pick or all three together to make the chord? They never say. Then on Twinkle Twinkle they want you to put your finger way up by the tuning picks. What? So then you select the game to learn a song. Play one note, if you pass, they teach you two notes like the game Simon. However when you get to the third note when you have to move your fingers it only gives you like 2 seconds or you fail and have to start over. Who learns that quickly? Isn’t the point to learn? It’s like a really bad video game and LoogGuitar also keeps shutting down. Not impressed at all. The guitar is cute but if you can’t learn thru LoogGuitar , it’s nothing more than a cute guitar and I could’ve bought one at Walmart for $20. I don’t recommend this product or LoogGuitar to anyone. Thumbs down.

I can’t imagine worse

I don’t know how you even an app for learning guitar this bad, especially for children. The UI is unintuitive. You push buttons to see chords to learn chords. You need to know (actually memorize) the chords to unlock a song. Why not learn chords by playing songs? That would be too easy and fun. The songs are elevator music versions of the songs that don’t even match the original and has no real instruments, just odd toy like synth sounds that dont at all match up with an acoustic guitar. The interface for the songs fails often. And you cant see what an A chord looks like when you’re learning a song, you have to exit the song section and go to the learn chords section. Makes no sense. Really badly designed from a product standpoint and a horrible way to learn guitar. Really bad.

Great app!

I think this a great app! I got a Loog guitar and decided to get LoogGuitar to help me. Turned out it works! It gives me great lessons a tuner and a lot more! I think if anyone else has a Loog guitar LoogGuitar WILL help you. The only problem I have with LoogGuitar is that when I’m playing a game on the game area it sometimes won’t hear me it gets really annoying. But overall it’s a great app and it can really help and you should definitely get it!

Terrible app

This is one of the worst learning apps I’ve ever used. I’ve given it a go a number of times, but everything is so poorly thought out. They spent so much time working on making it look cute, and very little time thinking about how the learning actually functions within LoogGuitar . You basically have to already have all the chords and notes memorized to use any of the functions that teach you chords and notes. I’m not just a clueless learning who isn’t willing to put in the time. I have a fairly solid ability with ukulele learned through an app. This one just makes no sense and puts cuteness before usability.

Tuner does not work

It is impossible to tune the guitar. It says that the same string is too low and too high at the same time. Since LoogGuitar cannot get to accept our guitar’s sound, we cannot get any chord accepted and that means we cannot play one single song. The guitar is nice but LoogGuitar simply doesn’t work as intended. I agree with other reviewers that it needs to allow for a little bit of forgiveness. I have spent more than an hour trying to tune the guitar but as I do, the system is very inconsistent. The same string that it has told me to tighten and tighten and tighten, it then asks me to loosen up ten times over. It makes no sense.

Worthless

My 8 year was super excited to play with this. After watching the video on how to tune and 10 excoriating minutes I took over trying to help. LoogGuitar seemed to be only intermittently registering a note and i got different feedback based on which setting I was in (auto and manual). Auto consistent misidentified the string being tuned and gave different instructions than manual. Santa got him this and left a note telling him to practice. I’m not sure what’s worse, suffering through this misery or coming up with a cover story for how we returned it.

Great idea. Poor execution.

Got this for our son this Christmas. Playing along with the music I quickly realized we made a mistake. Want to play twinkle twinkle little star? Too bad. I attempted on iPad and brand new iPhone to rule out issues. LoogGuitar needs a forgiveness mode to play through. My poor son is trying his hardest to play the song and LoogGuitar will never let him past the 3rd note even though it’s being strum correctly.

Great app best I could find ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok don’t want to be mean but all people that give bad reviews your a bunch of lazy people e who don’t care about your kids it literally makes using a guitar the easiest thing in the world my kids love LoogGuitar so stop being lazy

Microphone doesn’t pick up sound well

We are having a hard time, with the option of microphone during practice, it does not pick up sound very well. Also the tuner doesn’t function well either. Makes it really hard for a 4 year old to focus when LoogGuitar doesn’t work well.

By

Best game ever

I learn guitar strings and also watch videos of people playing it so I can learn how to play it and it always helps me with the educational stuff thank you whoever made this!

By

Finally here...

A must have if you want your kids to be able to play songs on a guitar from day one.

By

Teaching great grandkids

This has create something that all my kids have in common with me, which is a good something…

Tuner doesn’t work

The tuner rarely ever recognizes the correct string. The guitar is cool and well made for a toddler guitar. App is a great idea but crashes a lot and it does not pick up sounds accurately. Considering LoogGuitar is the main way to learn on this 3 string guitar it sadly makes the guitar and app essentially worthless. Please fix this as it could be wonderful!

By

Games don’t work

The concept is great. Love the idea of the games. But they don’t work well and lead to frustration, which doesn’t make her want to play. Defeats the point of LoogGuitar .

By

So much fun!

Everything you need to learn Loog guitar is right here! Take a peek!

By

Buggy; needs no fail mode

Bugs throughout. Needs a no fail mode in the games. Each one dead ends at the first mistake preventing kids from learning.

By

This app needs to ask for permission for microphone

LoogGuitar is completely worthless because it will not ask for permission to use the microphone from my iPad. Please fix ASAP.

By

Awesome!

Really strong all around. Terrific design

Does not support Loog Ukelele

Can not select the Loog ukelele. This makes LoogGuitar , including the tuner, unusable. Very disappointing for my child.

App needs help!

My 5 year old has great dexterity and is musically inclined. We got the Loog for Xmas and she loves it and firing up LoogGuitar the first time she was focused and ready to play. She loved dressing up her monster, and the vibe of LoogGuitar she loved! The art, the music, the videos, the guitar are great! Although the guitar honestly doesn’t sound any better than her 30 dollar Hape toy guitar.

The functionality of LoogGuitar is just borked almost across the board. I have a brand new iPhone and very new iPad we tried playing on so we should be in good shape. Running barley hears the guitar, playing along with a song, doing chords what ever it is, LoogGuitar ya a lot of trouble making out the string being played. Even when I play.

The game elements would be great fun and would easily keep my kiddo excited if the cost I’d things weren’t so high across the board from the start. She wants to go a couple chords which is tough for little 5 year old hands, then go get a prize. It’s made twice as hard because LoogGuitar doesn’t pick up most strums.

The games would be cool too, but they are way too unforgiving. You should restart the kid with one failed accidental pluck of a a string. These are kids playing, their dexterity is still developing, LoogGuitar could be great for that if it eased kids in slower.

Make it lest punishing, fix the listening aspect of LoogGuitar , add more characters and customization with cheaper items! Do a few tests with friends and family and see what they say. It could be a great too for teaching but right now not so much.

I’ll keep checking back. There are some fun things happy for with LoogGuitar, but it needs a lot of tweaking.

Best App in the Marketplace to Teach Guitar

I’m only rating LoogGuitar because I noticed that for some crazy reason, it only had two stars. I disagree emphatically with that rating. As a guitar tuner along, LoogGuitar deserves 5 stars. My kids love dressing “the monster” up in different outfits and are constantly using LoogGuitar . Of course a child under 5 can’t teach themselves to play alone with LoogGuitar. However, an adult can be a rockstar and play “wild thing” and “like a rolling stone” with one day’s practice on LoogGuitar. If you want to be a hero to your kids, buy a logo guitar and take a SINGLE day to play it with LoogGuitar yourself. Kids need an actual teacher and LoogGuitar gives you everything you need to be that teacher and motivate them. Thank you to all the developers of Loog for bringing this product to the marketplace! Seriously, in COVID times being isolated at home more than ever, this guitar enthusiast and learning system has brought me and my family a lot of much needed joy!!!

Had such potential but disappointed

Bought the guitar for my 8 yr old she was so excited to play since it was smaller then regular guitar and we thought with LoogGuitar this would be a great way for her to learn the chords and play songs. WRONG! It had so much potential and still could be great if they made some much needed changes. The songs should have more instructions with them showing where to place the fingers and when to strum. Also would be nice if it followed u not u trying to follow a really fast pace song. Also only has 1 game to play with the guitar and that goes so fast it doesn’t even let a beginner find the right note before it tells you ur wrong. I don’t normally write reviews and I actually just sent an email to the company explaining my disappointment. This has the potential to be great and I love the guitar itself it’s just LoogGuitar expects way to much from children supposedly as young as 3, no way! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT THE WAY IT IS CURRENTLY!

New App is Awesome.... Oh wait it doesn’t work

The new app is really awesome at first glance but once you start using it you realize it’s really buggy and glitchy. The tuner doesn’t really work. When it asks you to play a chord five times you end up playing it 30 times before it actually registers. My twin daughters were super excited to use it but got really frustrated when it didn’t work. Please fix the bugs. If LoogGuitar actually works it will be incredible.

What an Amazing & Magical App!

Not quite sure what’s going on with the negative reviews. LoogGuitar is fun, colorful, and inspiring! I’m 27 and learned guitar at the age of 7. For my dyslexic brain I would have love this waaaaay more then black and white lines of music notes. They even have that hall of fame to inspire kids to want to post videos!! How cool is it to be a kid right now! You can even dress up your avatar!!
I’m loving it! LoogGuitar has put the fun into playing music and opening your mind to explore with the 3 strings!!
I have a lot of respect for the designers, rock n roll guys!

Great for beginners, but GLITCHY

My 3-year-old loves changing his little rock monster’s appearance (which is AWESOME because it’s the only way to get him to play the games and earn points). But the dueling guitars game (which is the best way for us to earn points at the moment) doesn’t have an open string option! So when you’re supposed to strum the open string, you lose because the open string words do not appear above the nut and even if you tap the appropriate place anyway, it doesn’t register.

Would LOVE an update to fix this glitch and any others that many other reviewers have complained about.

It’s a nice idea...

I’m not sure how anyone, child or adult, would be able to learn the guitar from LoogGuitar. Maybe I just like more guidance and instruction, like you can find on Yousician. I don’t understand the point of the games...LoogGuitar plays a note or sequence of notes and then instead of playing those notes on the Loog, you have to tap the screen. How does that teach you how to play the guitar? Seems like a missed (obvious) opportunity. The videos for the lesson are thumbnail sized and there doesn’t seem to be a full screen option. Also, guys, it’s spelled “exercise,” not “excersize.” Maybe I’m missing out on how to properly use LoogGuitar , but again, there’s virtually no instruction or guidance. Overall, disappointing.

Lessons on app absolutely terrible

There is NO WAY a child will be able to follow the lessons on LoogGuitar . They are done by a teacher holding an electric Loog- not a child loog first of all.

There is no teaching or intro into what string is what. But, he instructs you from the first lesson to put your finger on the “G” string or the “high E.” How are you supposed to know which string that is? Also, what is a fret? Come on. You advertised that small children could learn from LoogGuitar . They don’t know what a fret is. I didn’t either. I play piano, but I don’t know what string is what on a guitar, neither do my kids.

The flash cards are impossible to figure out. I have no idea which fret or string to put what finger on. It’s so confusing.

If I’m this confused, my kids will not be able to figure it out. I I tried to give them LoogGuitar , but they were lost. Not only is it not engaging, and the instructor talks to them like he is talking to another adult, but he is way to hard to follow.

The guitar itself seems to be nice. The lessons and LoogGuitar are a big waste.

Download Yousician instead

Bought this guitar for my 5 year old. He loves it, but LoogGuitar literally bums him out. Like, he loved playing the “follow The bouncing ball” type lessons on my Yousician app, so I specifically bought him a Loog guitar and downloaded LoogGuitar . He was so frustrated and confused not even five minutes in, that if I hadn’t given him my acoustic and let him play along w/the Yousician app, he would have given up guitar. Some dude wrote a review a YEAR ago saying how much LoogGuitar needs an overhaul, come on Loog! You can make a rad app that doesn’t frustrate kids AWAY from the instruments that brought us to you in the first place. Make LoogGuitar before someone else does, you can do this! 💖💖💖💖

Freezes all the time

LoogGuitar looks cute and fun with all the colors and the little monster but it is not easy to use and freezes ALL the time. Anytime I try to open the chord cards for my kid to try and learn, it gets stuck and I can’t get out of that section and I have to just exit the entire app. I haven’t figured out how my kid can use LoogGuitar herself to practice or learn as it’s not intuitive and just freezes. We’ve started using Yousician and find it much easier to use and understand. LoogGuitar needs to be better if you want people to actually use it.

By

So much potential, but unfortunately falls short

Like many other point out, LoogGuitar has so much potential, my kid was hook right away. However, when actually trying to play any of the games, it’s so frustrating. Especially “follow the melody”. You have to start all over with 1 wrong note, coupled with inaccurate sensor, it’s pretty much impossible to go through more than 1 phrase of the song even if you know what you are doing.

By

Flashy but doesn’t work

Just bought two Loog guitars (the Mini and the Pro). Excellent guitars. LoogGuitar is almost worthless. It looks good but is not functional for learning the chords. You go to the chord teacher and it lets you play one chord but does not let you advance or go back. You have to completely exit LoogGuitar to get back to the Home Screen. May be other glitches but this one is the biggest I ran into so far.

Wanted to learn

LoogGuitar could be great, but it does not work for me. I have had LoogGuitar crash in the middle of the lesson. I also cannot learn any songs because LoogGuitar does not recognize the chords I am playing and will not unlock. I also cannot just practice the basic chords, as LoogGuitar does not accurately recognize when I am playing. Without a functioning app, I cannot learn to play as advertised. :(

By

Trash

As others have said it needs a lot of work. The whole point of the Loog is supposed to be an easy entry for complete beginners, they don’t even explain how to read there cord cards and only a hand full of them have video lessons. Anyone who claims to have learned to play strictly from LoogGuitar isa liar. Find another app or site that actually knows how to teach guitar. LoogGuitar leaves such a bad taste in my mouth I will no longer recommend there products to anyone. Buy a ukulele instead.

By

Great Guitar, Awful App

The only thing that actually works is the chord practice and even then it is sketchy at best with LoogGuitar only recognizing maybe 1 in 5 strums of the correct chord. Not one of the games recognized any of the notes that we tried to play and the songs wouldn’t even start when hitting the play button. Speaking of songs there is an abysmal lack of ones to learn. For an app that is supposed to help you learn there is a striking lack of ways to actually learn anything in LoogGuitar.

By

Cute but disappointing

My kids loved the look and feel of LoogGuitar but we were all disappointed that none of the useful tools we downloaded it for (games, metronome, songs) seem geared toward beginners. They are all fast paced with no option to slow it down. They all ended up frustrated with it and we ended up finding another app that’s more new user friendly.

Games don't work. This guitar and program are way too pricey not to actually function. This should be a priority for Loog to fix ASAP. Also a little more kid-friendly instruction would be great for littler kids. They don't know things like "first" "second" and "third" at 4, so saying String 1, String 2 etc. would maybe work better for kids under 5.
