Amazing teaching tool

THANK YOU. I’m working with a youth theater group for an upcoming musical, and SlowDownMusicTranscribe has made it SO much easier to teach vocals. The speed and pitch controls are great, of course; but the quality of the vocal isolation, while not 100% perfect (nothing is), is easily the best I’ve seen in an iOS app. I’m able to toggle between just instruments, just voices, and both *while the song is playing,* which is incredibly helpful for the kids to hear exactly what they should be singing/listening for. As other competent reviewers have mentioned, some kind of in-app file management system, like folders or playlists, would be the icing on the cake. It’s crashed on me a couple of times when downloading songs, but moving the tracks out of the cloud and onto my iPad solved that. I’d also like to see a little deeper zoom in, more accuracy in moving markers (it jumps a little every time you release), and the ability to turn off/on the waveform “record spin” sound when you scrub. But those are minor nice-to-haves in an app that is incredibly useful as it stands. Bravo. If you’re too cheap to pay $15 to support this kind of advanced audio trickery, I don’t know what to say.

So far so good but...

I have been using SlowDownMusicTranscribe on my iPhone to isolate the rhythm, drums and or bass guitar so that I can see where sheet music and tabs are off by a note or two which is great. If you are looking to use this on your iPhone or iPad it is a fantastic app and boggles my mind as to how the program was designed to operate on a phone. I would recommend for those purposes.

But I thought for certain I had downloaded the same app on my windows 10 pc? Is that even possible? or has some other company used the same name in the Microsoft store and now I'm stuck with that other app?

I would just like to know if this program which works for what I need on my iOS iPhone, is available on a windows OS because it is a lot easier on the eyes and ears to be able to do the same on a much more powerful machine with bigger screen and a superior sound system. If not, are you considering development for the windows OS? And if yes to either would I need to purchase twice? Thanks in advance for reading my jumbled review/ inquiry and I look forward to hearing from you.

Great tool!

I love SlowDownMusicTranscribe. Saves me from having to fire up the desktop and DAW to pick out melodies and instrumental pieces from songs I want to learn. So much easier to use. The pitch and speed change controls are superb. A couple of suggestions, though. Could you make it so that the looper function can be set shorter than the current shortest time. I think it can be closed in to about 2 or 3 secs. It’d be great if the start and end points could be brought together as close as possible. Like in milliseconds. I often try to pull notes out of recordings one by one. I close in on a single note and let it loop, then find it on my guitar or tuner. And if you had a built in tuner in SlowDownMusicTranscribe in addition, that’d be even better. Then you could loop a note and see on the tuner what the note is.

Good, but needs improvement

SlowDownMusicTranscribe is really amazing and very useful for separating audio. In my opinion; I would still need to use more advanced equalizers in order to create a higher quality audio separation but it SlowDownMusicTranscribe still functions the way it is supposed to be. One minor issue however is that the scrolling bar is not as smooth as I expected it to be since it would automatically get stuck to speed 1.00x and it takes away from a perfect transitioning experience from slow to fast or fast to slow, and I wish this gets fixed as soon as possible. I would also wish that SlowDownMusicTranscribe will develop a new feature to reverse the audio, as well as giving the user the ability to scroll pitch and speed at the same time. Thank you.

A great start to a really cool app

It really is a cool app with many applications for practicing musicians. I use it mostly for creating ad-hoc backing tracks to practice over or simply to slow them down while I learn a piece.

What would really push it over the top for me would be if they would add some MIDI over Bluetooth LE support similar to how Quantiloop or Amplitube do it. At least basic support where you can start/stop a track using a floor switch like the iRig Blueboard or even an Airturn pedal.

Another nice to have would be some buttons to quickly skip to flags you’ve set rather than having to manually scroll to them. If that could also be controlled via Bluetooth it would be epic.

Worth the price for how easy it is to use!

I’ve tried Anytune, and although apps like those are great for transcriptions, they are very limited in terms of what types of audio you can import.
SlowDownMusicTranscribe has little to no limitations besides the iCloud limitation, which is completely understandable since it’s the law. However, you can literally import any audio that is directly on your device whether if it’s in your camera roll on in a file. It’s so awesome!

I’d say for how much your getting, it is much better than spending a monthly payment on other apps. Prior to SlowDownMusicTranscribe, I used Anytune, but once I switched to SlowDownMusicTranscribe, there is literally nothing better that you can get on your iPhone.

Exceptional

With the latest update, SlowDownMusicTranscribe is now one of the most powerful tools for transcribing music on SlowDownMusicTranscribe Store. You can change the speed and pitch of a track, view its waveform, and even isolate specific instruments from a track. SlowDownMusicTranscribe also lets you import from a variety of sources, works with audio and video and includes an equalizer. Everything works as intended and the UI is very smooth as well. Hats off to the developer of SlowDownMusicTranscribe, the only feature I would have to request is the ability to save multiple projects and be able to navigate between them like with a file management system. Overall amazing app and well worth a download.

Talk about responsive!

I really like SlowDownMusicTranscribe. So many others are over complicated with tuners and practice logs and other stuff. This one does exactly what I want. I can replay my saved songs, slow it down, change the key. I have learned mandolin solos from two of my favorite songs in about a week, just by slowing down and figuring it out. Loop works perfectly.
I reported a small problem to the developer on Wednesday this week. Joe responded by email to say it was fixed and will be available on iTunes in the next update. Today I updated SlowDownMusicTranscribe and it works perfectly. Joe has pride in his work and deserves our business. Five Stars.

Cant keep or delete worked on files

Sure wish we could save or delete files within SlowDownMusicTranscribe . Bummer! SlowDownMusicTranscribe could easily become my favorite music app, and I love The ability to import videos from screen recording it’s very helpful, however SlowDownMusicTranscribe has crashed frequently , I’ve deleted and installed SlowDownMusicTranscribe several times, but even more annoying is the Inability to save songs, delete songs or even rename within SlowDownMusicTranscribe to me that would be the biggest improvement.. and yet I still give SlowDownMusicTranscribe a four-star I like it that much compared to the other music slow down apps. Keep up the good work.

New version has a bug

I love SlowDownMusicTranscribe and use it everyday for guitar practice. I like the new features such as having the ability to select Recent songs and retaining the loops and speeds from previous sessions. One bug after the recent update is the loop doesn’t always work. It shows the loop correctly but when it reaches the end of the loop, instead of going back to the beginning of the loop, the song continues passed the loop. Restarting SlowDownMusicTranscribe will sometimes fix the problem for a little while but then it does it again. I hope they fix the problem because this is an important feature.

Can’t get it to work with Apple Music

It allows me to select a song from Apple Music but then it takes me back to the play screen and nothing appears selected. The play button doesn’t do anything. Does this not work unless you pay for the upgrade? I would happily pay for the upgrade if I were confident it would work afterward. If that’s the case, you should display a message to make that more clear.

Lastly, this would be a support request instead of a review if I could figure out how to contact the developer. SlowDownMusicTranscribe support link in SlowDownMusicTranscribe Store just takes me to a promotional page. The feedback button in SlowDownMusicTranscribe keeps telling me to configure my mail app.

Almost perfect! Updated!

Updated: Very well done app, minor quibbles that I hope will be addressed as the developer seems very engaged and the second quibble below is already implemented since my last feedback!

1. Export markers and loop A and B markers as a separate file from the audio, so that both can be saved and loaded from a cloud drive like Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive, etc at a later time. Currently I am afraid to remove any audio files in case I lose all my markers but will have to as I run out of space.

2. Jump to next left or right marker from current play head via a button as it is hard to hit the markers easily on the waveform directly and dragging the waveform to the exact spot of the next marker while playing an instrument is too fiddly. -- Done! (though I would have preferred a 2 finger double-tap to move as a single-tap is too easy to do accidentally when scrolling)

But otherwise this is working really well, and the colors are nicely chosen to not distract.

Powerful tool to learn your favorite songs.

I’ve been looking for an app exactly like this to help figure out guitar solos and such. By slowing down the tempo without changing the pitch, SlowDownMusicTranscribe makes it very possible. The fact that you can even loop through sections of the song makes it even more powerful. The interface is MUCH easier to use e iPad vs the iPhone, but functionality seems to be the same.
The ‘free’ download allows only 45 seconds of the song to be manipulated, but the full app is going to cost $15. Honestly, it’s a good investment and time saver for any musician.

I like it a lot, except for one annoying thing

I am getting so much better on my guitar with SlowDownMusicTranscribe. I go into jam sessions with other amateurs (and some professionals) feeling much more confident, knowing I have practiced a lot and could keep up. It has made a huge difference in just a few weeks. Even if I know I can’t keep up at 100% speed, I can ask to have a song slowed down a bit when it comes to performing and I know I’ll be fine. It’s just so much fun to play at home with SlowDownMusicTranscribe. I have much more confidence now. This is when playing guitar is starting to be fun and not just work.

Decent but needs some basic changes

Once a song is loaded SlowDownMusicTranscribe is very useful and easy to use but the following are some issues which make SlowDownMusicTranscribe not so easy to use - recent change results in all Recents being deleted so I have to keep loading songs again and again. I am loading songs from outside my iTunes library. There should be a way to add songs to a library within SlowDownMusicTranscribe , which is always loaded OR there should be a way to decide which recents can be removed and which cannot.
This constant having to load the same songs again and again is making me want to find another app for transcribing.

Very Useful

SlowDownMusicTranscribe is next-generation software and is already among the best available for learning music ‘off the record.’ The interface is intuitive and feature set gets the job done.
I find particularly well-implemented and useful the excellent audio-to-video synchronization. That being said I hope additional features are being considered. For music transcribers and for general ease-of-use a pedal interface is crucial. Also, and had has been mentioned by others, a ‘quick launch’ listing of recently opened files is necessary.
Excellent work!

Excellent app with huge potential

It was an instant buy for me after watching a review video.
However I faced a few limitations based on which a couple of suggestions:

1) Possible to add a volume adjustment bar for each stem/track? Currently its just on/off.
2) Currently it does not show BPM. Automatic BPM identification and the ability to change the BPM would be awesome. Alternately can you introduce the Ableton-like capability of adding a time-warping marker and adjusting the speed of the audio between two markers so that the user can fit different parts of the audio into different BPM?

Transcribe+ (iPhone) and Transcribe! (Desktop) are the BEST!

I bought both versions - including the desktop/laptop version mostly because I have tons of music on my desktop and not that much on my iPhone and iPad (iTunes). (Yes, you need to access music files, you cannot stream the music.) Either version works equally well with amazing sound quality when slowed down. It’s really impressive software.

BTW, I have friends who learn with TAB. OK, I get this, but this is a better experience for me because it helps train my ear. I love this software, I recommend it highly!!

Beautiful!!!

Wonderful job on SlowDownMusicTranscribe! Well worth the price! I’m using this in split screen with MS Word, transcribing multiple-hour spoken word audio files. Here are a couple of features I’d really really like to see added. 1, a button to copy the timecode into the clipboard so that I may paste it into my document, 2, the ability to modify the format of the timecode, [HH:MM:SS] for example, and 3, a lock button on the row that represents the entire audio file, because occasionally I hit it by mistake and lose my place. Thanks again though! SlowDownMusicTranscribe is SOOOO close to exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Bpm Display

Maybe I just don’t know about it yet, but it would be very helpful to explicitly showcase the bpm of a track whenever the speed is changed. I use garageband on ios to produce and SlowDownMusicTranscribe had been very generous in letting me change the pitch of loops without affecting the tempo. I would love if I could see the bpm because it would really help alot of people in mixing different tempo tracks/loops together. I’m grateful for what SlowDownMusicTranscribe is doing for me and I’m sure there will be more available soon!
Please consider my request.

Almost great

I use SlowDownMusicTranscribe daily and it is great at what it does. It is a solid app that needs one significant addition, save the flags and songs that I am working on in an easy place to find. I feel like I have to reinvent the wheel every time I play a different song, even if I have played it a dozen times before. Don’t waste time labeling things, because the labels get discarded, and I have to go back and search my song library to bring an old song back. It is easy to use, but isn’t as useful if you are working on more than one song at a time.

Putting it through the paces.

Great app! My playing has improved in the two weeks I have been using SlowDownMusicTranscribe. I’m trying to transcribe a couple of Django recordings and the loop is helping a lot. I like being able to swipe across the waveform and zero in on a specific spot so I can verify the pitch. I have not had much use for changing the pitch yet, but if I was working with a singer, it would be helpful.

It took me a while to figure out how to get songs onto my phone and not use iTunes. I used cloud storage (one drive) to get around this.
