If you curate your own music library and import it from your computer, Doppi makes the listening experience on your iPhone beautifully intuitive.

The developer is consistently improving Doppi and has been impressive with each update. With all programming there are bugs but they’re always addressed and rarely effect the user experience.

This is not a “skin” for the stock app like almost all others on Doppi store; it really is a replacement. If you’re looking for a better way to experience your own music library, you should really enjoy this amazing app.

There’s no equalizer and it seems Doppi can’t read flac file embedded artwork. I’ve tried various flac files and the album art aren’t showing in the player is there any solution? Another thing is the feature to make playlist within app, I’ve been using favorite and hide song as playlist.

Edit: Changing to Beta ver. using Apple Tesflight (iPhone 7) all artwork problems solved. Still, I hope there’s equalizer and such, maybe metadata editor. there’s problem though, the player sometimes goes infinite loop to rescan library or imported files, I’ve tried several times reloading Doppi , removing from background, and solved when I change the theme color then rescan again.

Doppi just keeps getting better!

Can song times be included somewhere in the “Songs” list?

Old Review:
New version freezes up--have to kill task, start over just to change song.

Then in "Artist", select the song I want to play--but a different song by that artist starts (because it is Track 1 or alphabetically first).

Then have to go back under "Songs" to finally play the original song I wanted (if Doppi doesn't freeze up again).

Had to reinstall older version. No freezing, but "wrong song under Artist" problem persists.

Please fix these problems to get a 5-star rating. I appreciate that Doppi is free and works better than many other music apps.

I downloaded Doppi to replace Evermusic, another app that plays local music files. Unfortunately, while the design of Doppi is far superior, the functionality isn’t quite there yet. As someone else mentioned, Doppi slows to a crawl while attempting to load embedded album art. The this app folder for adding music also does not seem to support sub-folders (resulted in app crashes), so if you’ve organized your audio files that way, you’re out of luck. Further, unless I missed something, there seems to be no way to add playlists beyond the preloaded ones.

Doppi is great! I think it’s faster than the native Apple Music app on my iPhone 6. the controls and interface are intuitive, quick and responsive. my only gripe is lack of ‘repeat one song’ functionality. I came from Reddit just now, gotta market Doppi mr/mrs developer!

EDIT: I just found the ‘repeat one’ option hidden in settings. I recant my gripe. but the settings page itself wasn’t too easy to find, but that might just be my problem :) awesome app

Doppi looks and functions 10x better than the stock music app, and unlike the stock app, this one lets you import your music from the Files app. My only complaint is that I have 800 songs all with album art, that loads it completely then once I exit Doppi and relaunch it, it has to reload all the album artwork again and it slows down Doppi for a good 10 minutes. It could possibly be because of my aging iPhone SE (2016)!

Doppi is beautiful, simple, fast, and clever. The search bar pull-down, the intuitive hints about how to move from place to place in the design, it’s all wonderful. I’m so glad the creator got a job at Apple, recognition well-deserved. I’m sad for Doppi though, it’s everything I want in a music player and I would love it continued. Will still use while able.

I have a spare iPhone with iOS 11 on it and it has a sort of dark mode on it, I hope Doppi ends up supporting the dark mode. And when you use the search in Doppi while in dark mode it stays white instead of blending in with the dark os. (It just stands out) and I believe that Doppi would be great if it had a widget showing the songs that could be played. But other than that Doppi is the best. It's worthy of a nice tip

It’s sad it took me so many years to find the perfect app that the Developers are not interested in collecting your personal information. The moment apps change their privacy policies is the moment I always delete them. For me Privacy is worth paying for.

The only inconvenience with Doppi is that it is a tad slow when starting up. The start up speed is so minimal of an issue and doesn’t ruin the experience of an intuitively designed music player. This is by far, hands down, better than the Apple Music player UI! It is worth the $1!

I love Doppi very much. But I have a trouble during my using. Why information like the cover and lyrics contained in my flac file can’t be read and displayed? Can you fix it?

I use it over the stock player because I paid for it, but overall it's not a huge improvement and is lacking some things. It does look nice though.

-History is nice, but crashed on me once when I played a song from it - not sure if I can replicate it
-It's better at recognizing songs of the same album than the stock music player
But,
-I shouldn't have to use a separate app to create and edit playlists.
-The scrubber being at the top of the screen makes no sense. It needs to be relocated below the album art, preferably where volume currently is - having to reach up to the top of the screen to scrub is inconvenient, and a large volume slider is unimportant when the device already has physical volume buttons.
-Swipe up on the player screen should pull up the current playlist.

Edit: Crashes on me four times a day and nothing has been improved. From 3 stars to 1.

The new artwork caching is a joke. No artwork is showing no matter what I do. The new connecting with Apple Music function isn’t that great either because it doesn’t pick up on the changes to a playlist. Tried deleting songs and re uploading them to fix the artwork problem and sure that solved that, but then it didn’t pick up on the changes to the playlist. Foolishly hit library troubleshooting and ended up wiping the artworks again. Either fix this problem or go back to the previous versions please.

After trying so many other music apps, I’ve finally found one for just the music I have synced on my phone. Interface is fluid and smooth, it’s very responsive and just simply gets the job done well. The only recommendations would be maybe a widget, and an option to add the current playing track to a playlist.

Great player with minimal interface and avoids all the bloat I see in most music players. The only issue I have is for the past 6 months it crashes about a minute in when connected to Bluetooth. Restarting Doppi usually works but over the past week or two it takes multiple restarts before it stops crashing. 5 stars for my needs if this ever gets fixed.

Whenever I scroll using the alphabetic sorting on the right side of the screen, Doppi blurs out and has a search bar at the top which cannot be used. The only way to fix this is to restart Doppi but the scrolling becomes dangerously unusable if I am in the middle of a song. Everything else is perfect and the UI is the best I’ve seen in a music player so far.

It would be great if we can manually update or change the artwork of songs within Doppi.

Is that something we can expect?

But when I first opened it, it just automatically set the language to Japanese, and I couldn’t find where to change the language.
It really bothers me cause I’m Chinese and I know little about Japanese.
I know Doppi doesn’t support Chinese now, but if I could change it to English it would be much easier to use.

When you click on an artist it has all their albums and all their songs in one list. The all songs option was removed from the Apple Music app and Doppi is the only one that lists all the songs in one list that I can find. And it is free.

It takes a lot for me to use third party software over Apple’s. That said, this is what Apple Music *should* be. If you didn’t know this wasn’t from Apple, you’d think it was their newest version of their Music app. It’s that intuitive, and is a pleasure to use. Well done.

Doppi is amazing if you have music stored locally. The fluidity of the interface overall is unreal. But recently I made the decision to clear out my music library and replace it entirely with Apple Music tracks, and now I’m no longer able to take advantage of such a great app :/.

Regardless though, even if supporting Apple Music isn’t one of the developer’s priorities at the moment, Doppi is still very well-made! Would definitely recommend.

Hands down one of the best Apple Music replacements.

Although would love to see an EQ added in a future update.

One other tweak request ...I use an increased font size on my phone and it makes the preferences look a little wacky. It would be nice to override and view that normal smaller size.

This is by far the most beautiful and well designed music player app ever!! Congratulations for all the unique features to the designer. Love the access to artist and album to add songs without leaving the actual Playlist. Simply perfect!

this app is way better than the stock music player
But still needs to really shuffle the music because it messes lots of songs when I shuffle an album
And having a create playlist and rating options would be perfect
Some stability tweaks would be nice too.

If you like to keep your music locally there is no better app on iOS. Apple’s stock music app is trash. this app is beautiful, intuitive, and customizable. The 3.0 update just makes things even better

This is a beautifully designed app with a smooth interface that shows off iOS processing power. However, the lack of Apple Music support does make it a little bit of a miss. With Apple Music support Doppi will make the system music player useless!

I came back to give Doppi another shot and I’m blown away. Well done! The artwork is wonderful and loving the swipe gestures. Many thanks for your hard work!

I’m loving Doppi so far as it’s a million times better than Apple’s stock music app, but my one complaint is that it didn’t transfer any of the lyrics I had added to my songs. Is this a bug or a feature that I have to enable?
