BCP: Daily Office Readings Reviews

Not sure what has happened. I have loved BCP and have been using it for years. For the last few weeks, however, the Daily reading list appears just fine - but the actual lessons that are displayed are not correct. It is as though the readings are frozen and never update. The audio plays, but the readings are not correct. The Old Testament reading has been 1 Kings 13 for several weeks! These days I’m using BCP just the get the reading list and going to a different audio bible to play them. I realize this is a first-world problem. But in the past the developer responded and fixed things. My last emails have gone into a black hole.

I hope the functionality of BCP can be restored.

BCP is very straightforward and user friendly. I have been using it for a couple of years now and until 2 days ago, it was working fine. The scripture no longer shows up when I select the passage to read. I thought it might be because I just updated my iPad, but my phone, an iPhone 5, which doesn’t update anymore, comes up blank too, even though it too was working a few days ago. Maybe it’s my current wifi. Who knows? Maybe it will be working again next week. I just need to know what’s going on.

This is a simple app to use. Nothing confusing to hinder following the readings in the Book of Common Prayer. My favorite part was the audio to accompany the written Word but it no longer works. It works through half of any given passage then just quits. If you pause then play again it starts from the beginning and still quits mid-reading. Still a useful app but no longer helpful for the auditory learner like myself. Looking forward to a fix.

BCP has been a joy in my life for years. I was able to begin my day with God by having a sonorous voice reading the exquisite language of the Bible.
Sadly, much has changed. While the convenience of having the Bible readings all in one place remains, the beauty of the language has been lost and the option of having the text read to me has also been lost.
I now feel bereft every morning when I open BCP.
While I appreciate the free gift of the readings in one convenient place, I resent every contraction I run across in the new iteration of the text. In my opinion the text has not been made more accessible, it has just been made inelegant. God’s message deserves elegance.
I also miss being able to listen to the readings as I get ready for the day.
I respectfully ask for a return of the older format or a rehabilitation of the new format.

This is my favorite app, I use it almost every morning. But it frequently gets stuck on a day’s scriptures, even though the opening page changes to the correct day’s references. The only way I can fix it is to delete BCP and download it again.

Also, this would be a 5 star app if it had background music options and different readers (ie. women or international voices as well)

This has been mostly a great app. However, for over a week it won’t completely refresh. It does update the listing of today’s scripture; but won’t update the audio. I discovered that if I delete & reinstall it then it works. So I have been deleting & reinstalling BCP every night, including tonight.
I like to listen to the scriptures. Before Gutenberg it was the only way most people could access them.
Perhaps I am a bit lazy, but it’s irritating to have to reinstall BCP every time.

I really like the simplicity of BCP. And I love the option to listen to the Scriptures.

However, the days are off by one. I get yesterday’s readings and not today’s. (Perhaps because I live in Europe and BCP is set to display only today’s readings based on time in the US?) Without an option to have today’s readings based on location means I’ll move on to another app...I guess one without audio.

I love BCP and use it regularly BUT it stopped working in iOS with the most recent update. When I select on of the readings a new blank window opens. The passage never appears. I hope you are able to fix the problem. Many thanks! UPDATE: App is working again. Thanks for the fix.

Something’s not quite right with BCP. When it’s right it’s great, but some days the scriptures are all mixed up under the wrong headings, on some days the Gospel is missing, and now and then just a blank screen comes up instead of scriptures. If you fix these issues I’ll reload BCP . Thanks!

BCP is pointless without the handsome voice reading it to us. I didn’t care that sometimes the verses didn’t change with the day. Our oldest son and I would listen to this on our way to classes etc since he was 3. It helped him to learn to read. Our newest son is at the phone obsession age and I would lock it on this for him to play and listen. Now we are unable to share this voice and message with our baby. What a disappointment! When you have voice rights I hope you can get the same reader. 😢💔

BCP is one of my favorites that I use daily, but it has been very frustrating for the last couple of months. It freezes up the readings. New readings are listed each day, but when you click on them old readings are frozen there instead. PLEASE correct this problem...!

I have used BCP many years now but now am extremely dissatisfied with the inability to keep it running correctly .
Deleting it and reloading does no good. Now I get the correct text listing but scripture doesn’t match. It’s been more than a couple of weeks. Can’t you make it run correctly, consistently? Please!

Highly recommend BCP. I have been using it for over two years without any major hiccups until a few days ago. The readings don’t match what is listed. Really appreciate the ability to both read or listen to the daily readings. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Love BCP, I’ve been using it for over 5 years?!

The audio version is lovely and masterfully read, without overdramatizing the scripture. I read or listen to it every morning with simple breathing exercises and mindfulness meditation. The practice of preaching the gospel to yourself and praying the psalms has been a constant solace through trying times.

I had an issue with the daily readings not loading. Developer eventually fixed it

Seems to have been updated again. Larger typography in the interface... BUT WE LOST THE AUDIO?!

Please address if you are able. This is a Godsend for a daily meditative practice

I loved BCP until last year. Please correct the long-standing errors in your this app app. The scriptures for Year Two are listed, but BCP opens the scriptures for Year One. It’s messed up. The Psalms are correct, as they are the same each year. Please fix it! I wanted to send a message, not submit a poor review, so I hunted up the About page for your company, Logos Creative. But that’s messed up too. The Submit button for comments is dead. What a headache. For an App company, you sure are dysfunctional, at best.

Scripture from several days ago shows up for daily reading. As an example, todays's psalms start with 56, but when I open to read, psalm 50 appears. Deleted app & reinstalled several times, but does not fix.

Please please please fix the bug that causes incorrect scripture titles to be displayed before the readings and also readings being repeated days in a row. BCP has such great potential and is set up well. It’s just buggy as all get out!

I used BCP every morning, but now with the “fixes” I have to find something else. No audio and then you click to read a verse nothing shows up. It’s not even posting the correct readings. If the developer is not going to fix this, then please let us know.

Please fix bugs affecting the scripture readings in the this app. For example, the first psalm for today 9/19 is # 71. When l tap on it, another psalm shows up. The same thing happens with all the other scripture passages.

I love BCP! Unfortunately this week it started going haywire. The list of readings come up but when you click on the individual reading it simply goes to a blank screen. Hopefully this will be fixed soon because I use BCP everyday.

BCP is having trouble advancing by day. When you look at the list of readings it is correct but when you open a reading it is from at least two weeks ago - today’s morning Psalms are 97, 99, 100 but when you open it’s Psalm 50. I really like BCP and want to continue to use it but...

App was working fine until it started sending me to different scriptures than what’s listed on any given day. Re-downloaded a few Times with no luck. Wrote a bad review, downloaded one last time, finally works again!

I used BCP for a couple months and liked it better than the others available, but for the last two weeks there is no Old Testament reading available at all. This renders it useless for those of us who need to read the full lectionary.
