Worst system ever

We have a two zone system that is connected via the app. Even though this was installed four years ago it always decides to break at the worst possible time. The day after Christmas one of the zones decided to stop showing up in the app. Despite several attempts to fix it we still have no heat in that zone. The system goes into Defrost Mode when it gets really cold and that stops the flow of warm air coming in. So then it starts to cycle between defrost and normal operation which means the desired temperature is never reached. It did work for a while when the technicians realized the external unit needed more refrigerant “charge” but then when the first cold snap comes then it’s back to the cycle described above. Not to mention how sensitive it is with wifi settings and two temperature monitors constantly needing to be fiddled with. You’re better off with a manual touch thermostat than this highly unreliable system.

This app is really disappointing. It’s buggy. It’s inconsistent. And it’s outdated. The functionality to have a truly smart hvac heat pump system is there, but the software developers haven’t spent the time to make it an easy or initiative experience. Updating the heating or cooling programming is like using Visual C++ from 10 or 20 years ago. The app pretty much needs to be closed and restarted every time you check on it, especially if you’re not on wifi. The air exchanger functionality needs to be set and reset every day. Settings are buried with no explanations what they do. And similar systems (we have an 18k and a 24k btu ducted) behave differently even though supposedly they are the same software. Long story short: Mitsubishi built world class heat pump systems and took short cuts on the software and have failed to invest in updating it along the way. Do better.

Leaving this 1 star review for two reasons. This app is still bottom of the barrel in terms of usability considering it’s the only options for a newly installed system costing upwards of $30k (for me). Secondly, leaving 1 star because the review score is being manipulated. Most of the comments here are terribly negative, and for good reason. Read them all, they’re all true folks. But somehow this app is a 4.X out of 5. It used to be 2.X out of 5 and seriously nothing is different from then to now except a different screen when you boot the app. It’s obvious Mitsubishi, or some third party, is working to clean up the image of the app instead of just hiring new developers to work on the app. But if you’re like me, you’re stuck. This app is the only thing that will control your system. So I’ll begrudgingly use it until I don’t have to.
