Personally, I think this is a great app, although because there are so many genres and articles on them, it doesnt cover all of them. I’m interested in one genre, but it isn’t contained in Kiwix . And, personally, I would love a feature in which you could download specific articles, but sadly that doesnt exist.

this app is awesome, but I will only give 5 stars once you make it where I can download regular Wikipedia with pictures. I need the version with pictures please. I know that with pictures it’s like 80gb but I NEED IT. Is this a bug? I thought you could download entire Wikipedia with all the text and pictures in here. At least that’s what Wikipedia said you could do.

When I’m at the download place there are only two regular English Wikipedias which both say they lack pictures. I actually can’t tell a difference between the two besides the size. Does one only have lede sections or something?

I do quite a bit of international travel, and even with a decent data plan, access to the internet is often not cheap, convenient, or even possible. So I love having a big chunk of Wikipedia and Wiktionary stored offline for those times when I just NEED to know something and Google and online Wikipedia are not available. This does the trick with a clean design and stable performance on my 128 GB iPad.

So downloading small files are no issue but that app will download a large chunk of the larger files then just simply quit forcing you to try again. It’s been a 5 day endeavor trying to get the basic no picture no video Wikipedia downloaded. First attempt got to 90% before quitting. Second got to 67% then 31%

Downloading Over cellular is also not working. Or if it does it completely fails at less than 10% and refuses to progress.

I always wished for phones to truly be this endless void of knowledge, and Kiwix grants my wish. The ability to download all of Wikipedia for a fraction of a gigabyte is extremely powerful, espically knowing that I won’t have to wait for load times anymore. My only concern is the formatting is a little weird (Using an IPhone X), but overall I love Kiwix .

Bug that stops downloads at 100% is simply awful. I spend an entire day trying to download a file and it corrupts at the end. Tried a restart and anything else I could. Forums said the issue was resolved. It most definitely was not. Great concept though. I am using a 256GB iPhone X by the way, and I know I have plenty of space available.

It is by far the most user-friendly option for downloading the Wikipedia (And other supported Sites) I have ever found. It also allows for you to use old phones and other unused devices as backups for supported sites.

This is one of those apps that everyone should be talking about. It does an excellent job of bringing Jimmy Wales' Wikipedia knowledge to people who don't have easy internet access. I aplaud the people behind it. Apple needs to have a special link for Apps like this that make the world a better place.

Now the only thing could be better would better integration when trying to share text. And tabs would be nice

Sometimes data connectivity is spotty or nonexistent. If you rely on knowledge resources like Wikipedia or Wiktionary on a regular basis, or might need StackExchange while coding in the wilderness, just download the appropriate database and you’re never without your trusty references.

Kiwix would be great if it worked. You cannot download books into a ePub reader so you have to try to read them in a very subpar window built into Kiwix . The selection to download exists but does nothing. This has been verified as a real bug. Since it is central to the functionality of Kiwix , it is too bad this app has decided not to fix it but to concentrate on less significant items

I travel to a lot of remote areas, where there is no internet access. Being able to have a copy of ALL of Wikipedia on my iPhone is so helpful! There are also a lot of other libraries available, like Wiktionary and Wikiquote!

For anyone who doesn't have access to the internet all the time, or doesn't want to use it for another reason, this is perfect.

I used to love Kiwix. I found it as reliable and the articles great. I have used Kiwix now for about a year and have been very pleased but unfortunately can no longer use it due to the updated articles freezing during downloads. Very disappointed. I hope that this is something that can be fixed in the near future.

I use this to act as a tour guide on my international travels. As we drive around in our rental car, I can look up articles about the places, animals, people nearby and read the good bits to my travel companions.

As others suggested, there ought to be a list for apps like this. Another example would be a privacy-friendly offline maps app.

So much fun when you on a flight and want to mass time. You can go down a rabbit hole of links. If you have 256gb you can download all of Wikipedia to your phone, I can’t but the 1.3 gb version is great as well

Kiwix is great for people who want wikipedia any time, and frequently go places with no internet access. It allowed me to look up landmarks, species, foods, history, and attractions in remote reaches of Peru, and on the flight there.

Overall, Kiwix is user-friendly, and it’s come in handy a surprising amount of times. It’s also fun to browse when I’m bored. One suggestion, can we get a dark theme/night mode?

I use this while flying where the internet is unavailable or expensive. Works great. All I wish it had was night mode and it would be five stars.

I have to rely on cellular only internet. this app allows me to have an offline reference library at my fingertips. Can’t say enough good things about it.

Excellent! I did a LOT of research, and was willing to pay well for a good offline Wikipedia app. I tried a few, but this is far and away the best that I've seen!

Now that this app supports the Files app, I would love it if it could simply use Files—and USB—as storage. Not just for importing.
