Definitely check this one out

Definitely a good way to introduce yourself to some new concepts and / or review concepts you may have gotten rusty on.

If you really want to learn from Enki, you will have to do some legwork yourself by taking the material and learning to apply it, but it is a fantastic place to get a good hands-on start with things that is far superior to just reading an overview or a blog.

Great app with 1 problem

I’ve enjoyed Enki immensely. I’ve done work in python and c# and Enki and sololearn are how I’m learning java. The workouts are great, the interface is good, almost everything is good except for the games.

The games need a serious overhaul. From the beginning, after completing the basic workouts, hugely complex games that require knowledge of everything are thrown at you.

I think Enki would be much better if there were no limit to workouts (meaning we could go as fast as we want similar to sololearn) and if games were changed.

This could be the perfect app!!

Enki would be amazing - and I would even be willing to pay for it - if two things happened:

1)you actually save my curriculum preferences when I click “Save”. I don’t know how many times I have gone in to say I’m not interested in React (we use Angular). Yet I continue to get workouts on the topic. This is my biggest pet peeve with Enki.

2) the questions that are broken were fixed. It’s been more than a year of people complaining in the comments for some of these broken questions, and they still claim the wrong answer is right.

It’s good for the very basics

It starts ok pretty good, in the Basics, like variables, Boolean, if statements and loops. However, when you start getting into even the next step, Fundamentals, the lessons become too fully packed. It suffers the same fate as most training: the instructor forgets what they didn’t know and starts dumping 4 times the information, expecting the students to be able to handle it. This being self-paced is better, as you can go research, but that’s supposed to be why you’re taking the course, so you don’t have to.

Challenging

This is a good, organized app, but it is too hard. Even on the Beginner setting, sophisticated information is thrown at the reader and then in a question seconds later. If you are an absolute beginner like me, I do not recommend Enki. If you have some experience, I highly recommend it.

I’d rather this was a desktop app

Aside from the high price, I am not a fan of doing this sort of work on a phone. I like how there are many topics however this type of knowledge should be made public so users can take an active role in curating and improving content.

Additionally, the GitHub auth doesn’t work. It opens the github link in a web view safari instance (which is an unauthenticated session). This forces me to open the link in safari but then I get an error from enkidevs domain. This should not be so painful!

Annoying bottom boxes all the time

Bug fixed. App supported well. Boxes show up at the bottom all the time that say "finish this workout" even when the workout is done. It is so effing annoying. Please fix this bug, as it interferes with the content. The content is good and helpful.

Only complaint: more content

Enki seems to be in its infant stages, but is still awesome. I think it’s a great intro for each of the subjects. But it could use some advanced topics as well. Great app overall, I’m giving it a 5, assuming that with future updates comes more content and hopefully new subjects

Great Script and Dialogue

There is so much personality and human aspect to this app I feel like it really speaks to me Im having fun learning , Ive tried sololearn ,mimo but the experience with this app reading wise in terms of script is better, but readability can be improved more to be like mimo, but everything else is great so far

Screen freeze

While definitely enjoying Enki and considering it very useful, I have to say everytime when I do the exercises, on the last slide the screen freezes and I can’t finish without exiting Enki and launching it again to finish. I just downloaded it yesterday, so I don’t know if it’s a bug or my phone’s issue.

Busy, but you still want to learn something new

This is app allows for fun quick, easy and attainable learning goals that are geared toward either time crunch learners or have time to kill waiting somewhere.
Fun without making you feel ignorant.

I Don’t Recommend This For Beginners

At first impression, I was amazed at Enki. But the more time I spent, I realized that my first impression wasn’t quite realistic.

As with many “beginner” coding books and tutorials, this starts out very well and easy to understand, but as you get further and further along, the tutorials only skyrocket miles ahead of where you are. I only recommend Enki for coders with prior experience to these topics.

I’m so disappointed at that trend in the coding community. It really is a shame.

Still a good app. Very well made and designed. But not recommended in my book. Thanks!

A wonderful learning environment

this app is great. The lessons are bite sized, lucid, and packed with great examples and metaphors. Seeing how a concept worked across languages was insightful and provided me the bigger picture.

I love the short quizzes following
A lesson — this feels pedagogically powerful. I would love some incorporation of spaced repetition like Anki, either using the quizzes themselves, or for all the vocab and concepts taught. Their condensed clarity I think make them ideal.

Enki is beautiful and provides a nice experience overall too. Thanks!

Great intro in small chunks

This is very well done. You get a useful bit of info in a few minutes. Enough to introduce new topics and stretch your knowledge without being overwhelmed. Perfect for building a habit of learning or any time you have a minute.

Great way to learn and stay sharp

This is a great app to replace some of those moments you'd be on Facebook or twitter with something useful. I've been learning new things, re-learning things I forgot and just sharpening my skills in general.

Need more languages

Need to have certificates at the end of learning the languages. Also need to be able to sync and use on multiple devices not just buy pro and use for one device don’t be like programming hub who doesn’t that and that is stupid and pisses people off.

Can learn everyday

I’ve been using Enki occasionally for months now and I always discover things I did not know. Enki is not perfectly working which is why I did not give 5 stars. Other than this I highly recommend it to any dev or dev wannabe.

Great for beginners

I’m currently a computer science student. I’ve used multiple apps and I’m currently brushing up on python and I’m impressed by not only the pace of it but the depth with that pace. I prefer Enki to solo learn.

A great tutorial to start learning coding

Basically it provides a short intro as a 5-min material for each commit. But for each topic, there is a link that will provide a greater depth if you are interested in learning more.

By

Great curriculum and links for more context

I’ve tried a few mobile coding practice apps and this app is the most in depth with the most comprehensive coverage of topics. The links are especially nice to deep dive on any given topic for a more complete understanding

Great and simple way to learn

The concept behind Enki makes for a really useful tool when learning how to program. The bite sized workouts are engaging and far from exhausting or boring. Very highly recommended.
