This one star is simply because NewportMansions asked me to rate it every five minutes— WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PLAY THE TOUR AUDIO. At times I could not escape out of the request to rate screen, which ruined my ability to control NewportMansions audio. In other words, their determination to get me to rate NewportMansions destroyed my ability to use NewportMansions .
NewportMansions worked fine during my “Elms” tour. It was a big improvement over the old hand held devices previously provided by the Society. NewportMansions didn’t seem to work quite as well during the “Marble House” tour. It jumped ahead in the tour sequence and I had to use the “back” button numerous times to go back to where I actually was on the tour.
Even more extra stories would be good
NewportMansions works more smoothly than any other Tour app that I’ve used. The descriptions snd stories are interesting and just the right length. It’s so easy and interesting that I’m actually listening to some of the additional stories several days after having visited the tourist site.
This classy app allows me to preview the mansions and choose. Because so much history is included with each mansion tour, viewing and listening in advance makes the actual tour a much richer experience.
NewportMansions is easy to use, and the audio-video part is of excellent quality.
I absolutely love the Newport Mansions! NewportMansions has wonderful tours of them! Totally recommend!

This audio tour was essential to understanding and appreciating each mansion. Quite easy to follow and use. So happy I downloaded it on my phone.

NewportMansions works great on my iPhone 6s, but without a home button, it malfunctions on my friend’s iPhone 11. You may need to update it!
We just loved the tour- it was clear and full of delightfully detailed information that greatly enhanced our appreciation & enjoyment of the “cottage”!

We used this while touring The Elms & Breakers in Newport, RI. I highly recommend it, also keep it for a bit and tour the places you missed in Newport when you get home.

Absolutely stunning houses. We toured the Breaker's and the Marble House. So interesting to hear and see the history of the rich Vanderbilt family. Highly recommend the audio guide you can download!!!n.
What I enjoyed most about the virtual tour was my ability to go at my own pace. I could repeat content, I could listen to additional interviews, and I could conduct research while the tour was paused.
My wife downloaded it when We were in New York. We saw a bit of it then. When we actually went to Newport, they gave us the same app but in their own phones. Everything is so beautiful. It took us out of this world for 45 minutes. Boy ! How much money is spent here ! NewportMansions is nicely done. Musical background made it even better. Voice is great. Story is interesting. We had time for only one mansion. Next time, we will do 3 more.

I have been coming to the Mansions since I was a child in 1976. NewportMansions is a great way to experience the Mansions, (although not as good as being there!) NewportMansions lets you enjoy the audio tour of the Elms, (I can't wait for the other tours to become available), and seeing pictures of the rooms that the audio tour plays on. I also enjoy how you can also listen to the side tour information. NewportMansions is very much like the audio tour that is provided at the Elms. I like how I can re-live the tour whenever I want to. I can't wait for the other homes to be available and I am hopeful for some "deep track" information bravo to the Preservation Society for NewportMansions!
