Edit 6/5/24 I think you guys have finally broken the game. Nothing works as intended anymore since the last realm merge. It’s been 10 days the game is almost unplayable due to lag and login issues. I can’t believe you expect people to pay for this. I have been playing for almost 5 years. I won’t spend another penny unless it’s fixed soon.

have not been able to log in since the update so I haven’t been able to make any progress on events and other things. And now you’ve added $500 packs for sale because you’ve upped the gear another level. The game was already lacking in competitive balance but now it’s out of control. Pure greed is ruining the game. The game is loaded with bots playing accounts, people sharing accounts, etc and now this?

As an avid gamer (both irl and online), the reason I’ve given this game a star is for the friends I’ve made, and the game mechanics that truly support camaraderie
and diplomacy.
That said, I’ve no problem spending money on a game that gets me cool buffs and improves my champion - but in this game, a small group of the same players go to multiple realms and ‘set up shop’. These players then make rules that ALL players must follow, or you get destroyed (e.g. no alliance will accept you or they get attacked, you aren’t allowed to farm - ANYWHERE, you get bullied on he chat feed, etc.) You also get destroyed if you get too big....
But the reason I’m going to leave the game is that I’ve just discovered that our two top alliances (that got that way by being bullies) uNI and R-Q in realm 185, have a list of who gets to take the throne and it’s only ‘allowed’ by members of their teams - yeah, that’s the ridiculousness of a game that markets itself as a place where you can ‘win’ the throne. The moderators and game builders here do a poor job of making the realms a fun place to be.

I played the game for about 4 months with my friend I spent over $150 on the game and I was banned randomly for no reason. I reached out to the devs asking why I was banned and if it could be fixed. Finally they respond 4 weeks later with what seemed a automated message with no explanation on why I was banned. The message also said that it would be “investigated”. 4 weeks later I still have no word from the devs so I randomly decide to get on the game and I was unbanned. I then submit a ticket to have my account deleted because I was set back from the others in my realm due to being banned for no reason and ZERO communication from the devs. After submitting my request to have my account deleted I was banned again the next day and still have not received a email 3 months later. This company stole my time and money and brushed it off like it was another day. I highly recommend not spending any money on the game because the devs don’t know what they are doing or care.

I’ve been playing this game for about 4 months and I’m getting sick of it. The biggest problem is these level 30 dudes that just go around the realm and attack everyone. And it happens ALL THE TIME. They won’t stop until you quit. And Gameloft thinks its fair for a level 21 castle to fight a level 30 castle. I’m in realm 278 and it’s dominated by this Turkish alliance [TR-] with over 50 billion might. These guys no nothing better than to dump hundreds of dollars into a broken down unbalanced game just to troll. Why can’t there be a rule so that you can attack players with similar level as yours. I say 3 levels lower or higher than yours but nope. There is no strategy involved if these guys just keep attacking you. They won’t stop until you quit. Aside from the bullies this game is your typical “strategy” game with long wait times and cost too much to upgrade stuff. You gather resources and attack and that’s pretty much what this game has to offer. Unless you got money, don’t even bother with this game

You will find out the first time you’re at levels 1-25 and a level 30 player attacks you that there is no competitive aspect to MarchofEmpires. Games require a competitive aspect. You can’t use strategy or effort to beat or even defend yourself from a player outside of a couple levels difference. It’s merely about who spends hundreds of dollars to level up (yes, it’s expensive) and then has unrestricted access to all lower level players. The developers don’t mind because this undoubtedly encourages a few more players to throw money at it. Why do I need a phone game to play “who’s D is biggest”?

If I pretend it’s a game and comment as such:
No level design: random spawns on a uniform map.
Poor graphics: almost remind me of playing a lightly animated board game. Although the terrain changes color each season.
Chat: everything is edited and each game area has players from all over the world with poor translation so often you can’t properly communicate with people to team up.
Sound effects: click around on buildings and you will see that most sound extremely similar.
Voice: N/A.
Music: never seems to change so I had to turn it off.
Controls: it is necessary to pan around quickly to search for spawned items but you can’t see much area at once (I would estimate about 0.1% of the game map including area covered by game HUD). Cannot rotate phone. No hard press or gesture controls.

Very saddened to see yet another story. You need to understand the internet age means. If anyone wants to learn about history they simply need to search and read. Writing 5 paragraphs (yes I am being generous) and having people read them over 5 hours (not an exaggeration) is not a game. It is dull. No one wants to tap the screen every 5 minutes for 3 hours (no exaggeration here) and read what is maybe 4 lines of your script in 3 hours!!! Horrible. I see new mini game is coming, if it is yet another mini game marketed for the European market then it is another fail. Tournament, Gladiators, and Tug of War are all when Americans are working or sleeping. Atlantis is only for players who buy resources from Turkish or Syrian resource sellers, becaue there is no way with you game mechanics that it is possible to do it monthly if you do not buy resources from someone. And have you not taken notice that for the last 3 years players are doing patronage parties because it is a better use of their time “in game” than actually playing your game as mechanics? Learn from your mistakes already and make it better. Players prefer their free form moments and not your over engineer mechanics that justify your jobs.

This game use to be great!! They have a lot of amazing features, but there the newest additions limit the players detrimentally. You use to be able to trade your rss freely at trading posts, and now you have earn token to trade. 30 trades every few hours. For us that have millions of troops and cant keep food, trading it away is our one salvation and Gameloft just took that away. One of the few free features left in the game. Secondly there should be realms for people who don't spend money. It’s pitiful to see some people cant enjoy the game because they don't want to spend money, but The wallet players pick on them like a teenager vs a preschooler. That part i could handle, but this new trading thing really kills the game. Gameloft need to realize sometimes less is more. Every update it’s like they take more and more freedom from us.

Once again, GameLoft proves they don’t honor their responsibilities to the gaming community. Recently they updated their terms of use and policies. One term was stated to Not allow farm accounts. Which is a lie. I’ve often discovered larger castles with multiple farms and often times in multiple alliances (shell alliances) This is apparent with just 1 recent discovery. Alliance (HOR) whereas one castle has over 11 additional castles, simply stated as “farm castles”. (HOR) farms 1 -11 (Roman numeral)
Yet this type of practice is often overlooked by GL game developers. They only have a terms of use for nothing more than lip service or CYA to keep them safe from FCC regulations. Whereas ignorance would most likely be the defense. Yes I’ve taken screenshots of the offenses but, once again GL will Not share these negative reviews with the GP. Shame on you GL, shame on your corrupt leadership and illegal practices. Don’t play this game!!!

The game is amazing except one fact. There is zero deterrence for an extreme high level play from attacking a low level player. No penalty and it happens every day. The bigger players don’t allow new players to play the game at all. They just attack you and take everything it took you days to get and you start over from square one every time. Players should not be able to attack individual players that are more than say 3 levels below them. If your alliance has a pact with another alliance there should be some penalty for attacking an ally. A player can teleport clear across the map to attack another player when in reality you should only be able to teleport a few regions away from where you are at and only 1 every 24 hours. Give new players a chance. Something needs to be done about this an until it is this game will be mediocre at best which is too bad because it has so much potential. An example of this is in real 156 the alliance with the rage KaN just goes around all day every day attacking weaker castles. This needs to be fixed

I’ve been playing this for 4+ months. Never spent a penny and made it into top 10% of players; all players in the top 3% spend hundreds of dollars. Excellent gameplay from my point of view. But… there are several bad things about it which are very frustrating. The chat is horrible: foreign translation is useless, and it censors “March of Empires” and “ho ho ho”, while it doesn’t reduce swearing because its so easy to subvert it. They could have easily tweaked a few things to make it more enjoyable for weaker players. Now, in the past couple days they did a realm merge which is really bloody awful — and is causing extreme server flakiness!!! With a few trivial changes to how it was a month ago, it could be THE best game in MarchofEmpires store, but now its a big mess — I think they’re trying to kill it off. Bizarre…. I didn’t write this review, but I’m now allowed to edit it!!

This game has a great concept. Growing fast really isn’t an issue, around castle level 13 builds starts to take a little longer. I have not once felt it necessary to buy anything in the game in order to advance.

The game is international, which is fine, but the translation feature is very lacking. Translations either take a long time to load (in mails) or don’t load at all. The chat is often buggy, forcing players to restart MarchofEmpires several times during one game session. This is very interrupting to the flow of the game. There is an issue with very forceful players, but you’ll find those in any game like this.

Bottom Line: Find an alliance that speaks your language, or be left out of the loop & fall behind.

If u play this game completely free to play then as soon as u get stared ur going to need to be very very active everyday. I’ve been playing for 3 weeks free to play and have nearly 30 million might. While the people who spent a lot of money all have at least over 100 million with the top guy having 700 million rn. It’s basically if u have the most money ur going to win the throne because u can make the most tier 5 troops and spend millions of golds on soldiers and upgrades and research that will take a f2p player around a half year. They need to make a section for only free to play players in my opinion because we just have no chance once u play for a few months and reach around 100 million might free to play, you will realize that u have to either quit the game or spend money if u want to have a real chance at getting the throne or doing something meaningful

Great game. Love it since the first day I started playing it. I recommend it to those that like a slow pace game which allows you to build your kingdom the way you want. According to the game and rules of course. Spend a little money here and there to help with research. That’s my recommendation for the beginner. Helps build your champion and build might in your castle. The stronger the research the better. My opinion of course. Only thing I wish would change is the amount of resources that is needed to upgrade castle. I have to gather forever to get there. Unless I purchase resource bundle packs. Which normally don’t have enough iron resources in them anyway. But overall it’s a great game to play. See you at the throne of might !! 🗣Chaaaaaarrrgee!!! ⚔️⚔️🛡

Though the game does have it faults. The constant complaints about bullying by larger accounts is a bit exaggerated. When you start a new account it puts you in a newer realm. You play with people that have also recently started. If you are an active player and participate in the daily events you will receive peace shields(and other items) which protect you from being attacked. If you choose to not use those shields then you run the risk of what all these people are complaining about. But, like every other game, if you put in the time you will grow quicker. If you play smart...you will grow quicker. If you play very little and do not use peace shields then you will struggle in this game.

Being a veteran player leader of the strongest alliance in one of the realms I know a few things about these game. Overall a good game but for me the only reason I keep playing are the people that I play with. Even with that most of us are about to quit these game. There were ways to cheat for a long time and many people do it. Not game changers and maybe hard to catch but when few players cheat with their paragon Lvls, whole realm knows about it, reports to gl and they do nothing that is too much! There is point to play because strategies and plans you make don’t work in a cheater friendly or rigged environment!

If your looking for a fast game with quick promotions this is not the game for you. If you are looking for a game that you will not have to spend money to really progress then again this is not the game for you. However, if your looking for a game that you can choose to either wait for your upgrades or pay and progress quickly then you’ve come to the right place. Trust me I have debated on spending money on games but this one is a league of its own. It combines the thrill of organizing your armies with the other excitement when you can upgrade your character to be a powerful leader. You can choose to play quietly in peace or fight for the crown and rule the realm a choice which is yours to decide. I would highly recommend this game to any serious player who will dedicate a little of there time or a lot of their time to a game as you will not be disappointed. Keep up the good work in developing this game. There are times where I do wish that the packages contained more variety but over all there a great price for what you do get. Good luck in forging your empire in this epic game.

I’ve played this game for two years! I have seen over my past two years of playing this game has gotten better. Yes the incredibly high level players due tend to zero lower levels(have lots of experience with that) but if your active at least 3-4 times a week you’ll be fine TRUST ME. I do have one complaint; I bought a bundle that I thought would help me since I was just getting into the game... And then couple of hours later of course I get zeroed with all my resources taken away. There might be a possibility so I’m going to give it a shot...Hey devs if your reading this is there anyway I can get a refund or at least some gold into my ac? ALEAST. Anyways my account name is ¥Death¥ in realm 203. Great game to play.

Yes, the game still has minor UI bugs, and high-level gamers are too powerful. But the game is actually quite balanced.

The game does not require paying (much). I paid $10, when there were bargain deals (do not pay just for the coins). There are lots of ways to earn gold coins in the game. In one contest, I invested 5000 coins to buy no-cooldown effect, and I earned 9250 coins after spending a few hours in the game. Finishing tasks is another easy way to earn coins.

Bullying is common in the game, and the obvious deterrent is a peace shield. One 24-hour peace shield is 940 coins. After achieving a certain game level, spending that amount is easy. There are plenty of ways to get shields for free in the game. And low-level gamers get peace shields automatically without any spending.

Overall, I'll say the game is balanced, and the game vendor put in efforts to make the game fun for both paying and non-paying customers.

In case you are interested for my data: I am a mid-level player (level-19 castle). The level-30+ players are still god-like beings to me.

Great layout and development by the creators. Really don’t play anymore because more work than something I want to be tied to. Your server/world becomes lopsided by the stronger players. You become a trapped slave in an unbalanced world where you have to constantly mine for food based on your troop size; need it for advancement for everything. You can run food down to zero without harm to troops. GET RID OF CONSTANT REDUCTION MAKES GAME UNENJOYABLE AND UNSUSTAINABLE LONG TERM. I would also change the time period when attacking others. Narrow it down so not a constant stressful game feel day to day; much better for server against other server where open warfare for a few days but your server can focus against another and not constantly feeding on itself. Good luck; hopefully you remember to put you 1 day or 3 day shield up constantly or you come back to nothing but a work grind.

Only 1 piece of the new equipment that everyone can get with update 23 is good .... the other 3 are crap really.
But the gear they will sell in packs....are awesome. The pack gear is all bout upping war stats.... while the gear that everyone can get is 95% to boost your production of resources.
So what the company is saying.... unless you spend hundreds on our game a month....stop playing.

This leaves people like me who only spend $20-50 a month in the dust. I will literally only really be able to make troops and join rallies. I will not be able to lead rallies of any type weather on enemy or barbarians. And do not get me started on Atlantis.... as that is dominated by spenders .... who with pack gear will own me.

So if gather resources and staying shielded is your thing.... you will enjoy this game.

If you like to hit people and play a good war game where even if you do not spend hundreds a month but you can still atleast somewhat contented with spenders .... this is NO LONGER THAT GAME.
