apologies

my apologies for trying to understand your business, although i still am saying i recommended 2$ not just 75c, i do not understand completely these things since i am a child ( I'm 13). i wont argue the price anymore but i still think you guys were very rude to me and others but my rating is going to be 4 stars still. thank you for responding to my previous reviews and i wish you guys good luck

previous response :
you see Medly is really good, i don't write reviews unless i have something i really want to say so ill just get to the point. i truly love Medly and making music is so easy, but i don't agree with a subscription. i understand that Medly must be expensive to produce and i appreciate that but... i think that you should give us more than one pack, even two would be good? and make the rest of the packs purchaseable for around maybe 75c-2$?? that way people can choose what sounds they want to use without worrying about a charge every month. some people don't have the money to pay each month, so i really hope my idea is looked into at least a bit, since personally i am only interested in having a few packs anyways, so if i got the subscription i would be spending a ton of money for things i don't really need. thank you for your time but i still do really enjoy Medly, just not the starter pack being extremely limited and there being a ton of other packs i have to pay each month for.

Complaint

Sorry to bother I but I like Medly but why do we have to pay to use loops I don’t think really like that many people may not like it too sir you created a great app but the only thing that you should only change is being able to get the loops for free to create some great songs many people would like and download Medly it’s perfect just change it to the loops being free take that being a member thing there’s also people that don’t have credit cards or money like me but with Medly I can make money I can create many great projects for my Tucson rappers please bro just do that one thing for 7 billion people all around the world think how many people with download this if you do if free just like Medly music maker jam or garage band their competition if you just take off the member request many rappers and singers or producers will keep installing it that benifits you because you created something very useful why take money for it if it can be useful so your next invention will be liked because of the first application made was so good know people trust your great creations that benifits you well

Sound focused, not development focused.

I use Medley more than anything else. It’s easy to build melodies and bass lines without hassle, pretty accurately, and it’s easy to get these files onto my phone to send them away so I can use them in a bigger song. That’s what Medley is: A small app where you can create little music samples to send off to your bigger projects on your laptop or so on (or that’s how I see it).

However, that’s not what Medley could be. There is so much potential here.. more ways to mix audio, built in vocaloid plugins (better than the current ‘Vox’ or whatever it’s called). Packs of instruments that can go together, better tutorials for beginners, so on. Trust me, this is a great app, but I think it’s too focused on simplicity.. which I know that sounds like a good thing, but simplicity really affects professionalism, especially in this circumstance.

If Medley was able to integrate more types of mixing, more realistic instrument sounds rather than just a bunch of random synth and electric sounds that can kinds sound the same and nothing fits, and other little things that make it more professional, the community as well as Medley would benefit from that. Also, prices are fine. And there’s little bugs and freezes here and there and sometimes recordings of songs come out quiet but overall, so good.

Great, Except...

Hey! This is an amazing app. Well designed, clean, professional. But the only thing I dislike about it is that it is expensive. Hear me out, because I am not recommending that it be free. As a hobbyist I don’t have the money to buy a membership, but having the extra samples are kind of a must if you want to make songs with variety. What if in the free version it played an ad every time you added a premium instrument to a song. It would be like renting the instrument with an ad. You wouldn’t unlock the instrument universally, only for that song. It would keep the free version restricted while allowing hobbyists to make more with Medly . It would generate income from all users instead of the few that buy a Membership. It would still give plenty of incentive to buy the pro version. This is a brilliant app and I want it to keep progressing. I think it would be beneficial to both users and developer. Just an idea, Cheers!

P.S It would also be cool if deleted songs went to a temporary trash. This is a relatively standard feature in many media creation applications. (Or you could just put a couple extra messages telling people not to be idiots, like me, and delete songs they want :D)

Medly, thank u👍🏽

I just got this app not too long ago, looking for a new music maker and I found this app, and I gave it a shot. This is probably the BEST music maker I ever used. I love how the controls are so easy, most packs are cheap, and that more sounds are available in the free pack, making easier to make a song without buying everything. Even if i did buy the Future Bass pack, it’s worth it and so cheap. Im probably soon gonna buy the master pack. Out of all the music apps I’ve used, especially Auxy studio, this is the best one. Keep up the good work plz🔥

Edit: Ok, the new update is ok, but a problem. The Master and Band packs used to cost about $9.99 (or around $9) and now, I can’t buy a pack individually anymore because you apparently gotta buy some sort of trial. It was better and easier for me when I could just buy a pack on its own and have it forever instead of buying a trial including ALL instruments for a LIMITED amount of time. Im just suggesting that maybe instead of having just the option of a trial, you can get the packs by themselves OR get the trial. Overall still a good app 😆

Medly got me into music

I got this app at the start of COVID because i was bored and my mom just gave me her Ipad. I didn’t know anything about music, i didn’t even know what the word “melody” meant. But i figured out how Medly works very quickly and i used it to write down melodies in my head, and i had a lot of them! In the unpaid version of this app i mostly used the piano sounds and the chiptune. In fact, i used them so much that for weeks of using this app didn’t even notice that there were drum sounds! People say that the unpaid version of this app has too little sounds to pick from, but i didn’t feel that way at all. As a kid that’s never made music before, I just saw soo many posibilities you can do with just the unpaid version. this app got me extremely intrested into music theory, i just saw music theory as this massive rabbit hole of things to learn that never ends and because of that i wanted to buy an instrument to express what I learned and to be a better musician. Great app.

Medley please read!!!!

I have been using Medley to make my music for more than a year now and i can say that I am thoroughly impressed, the packs of instruments you can use are all wonderful, I love the drag and drop style of it, but there’s just a few things I wish were a little bit better. I wish there were more rap/trap/hip hop style packs or sounds, me personally I make beats and a wider variety of high hats, bass, and sound effects would be amazing. The other thing I wish was slightly better is the ability to input your own sounds/music/samples into the track you’re working on straight from your phone, it already works pretty well, but I’ve discovered that if you are trying to use Medly to make a remix of something it doesn’t quite work as well, when you input a sample 30 seconds long
And expand it across the track, there will be a slight audio glitch whenever the line passes into a different bar, this makes it difficult and tedious, I have to alter how my sample sounds just to cover up the glitch, if you could please fix this I will love you forever

Lovely, but a Bug and some Suggestions

Medly is nice. The new update is alright, though I particularly preferred new packs as in-app purchases over membership (of course, I understand that’s how you guys make money). But recently Medly ’s been doing something weird: when I play something and turn my phone off, the parts come out all choppy, some not playing at all. Sometimes this leads to Medly crashing. If it’s important, I do use Low Power Mode often. I’d appreciate if this were patched. Other than that, this app is great for beginning musicians; after warming up to it, it’s relatively easy to create tunes.

A question I’d like to ask is if new packs as outside of membership will be released, but I’d assume not if you’re plan is to release one membership pack a month.

If you could, I’d love for the rock pack to have a dirtier guitar, or have the guitars play for an extended period of time at a consistent intensity. It would also be nice to have a “note” function that you can attach to bars if you want to fix/edit something in the future. It could also be different kinds of stamps. Overall, great app, love to use it :)

10/10 UI & general app but new genres packs are lacking

I love Medly! Making music was a passion I set aside ever since my explosive break up with GarageBand. Thanks to this app, I can start mixing tunes no matter where I am, easily and efficiently. As a developer, It’s rare for me to come across a REAL public use app (rather than design mock ups or $$$$ apps I don’t need) that’s UI/UX is inspirational. I myself aim to create applications that are as clean cut, easy to use and that actually runs smoothly! #devboss #killedit

With that said, my only and I really mean only wish is that new genre packs would be available soon!!! The ones we have now are hella rad and I can use all of them for some decent tunes. Yet! The available packs can only go so far since I mostly listens to future bass, trap, dubstep, bass and many electronic dance styles that are, in four words, face melting musical carnage. I weep about the fact there’s not a lot of options for me to play with.
I’m sure your working on it! I will wait patiently with eager hope for some new packs that are more my style. Otherwise, keep up the spectacular work and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

Superb App

I love Medly! I’m a piano composer, but I travel quite a bit, and I can’t lug my piano around everywhere. That’s why I use Medly. I can log down different notation patterns I like the sound of on Medly , and then try them out on my piano when I get home. I love how real the piano sounds are! I had a bit of trouble understanding Medly design and how to log in notes at first, but they give handy step-by-steps for how to use many parts of Medly , which is spectacular. I still very much prefer physical instruments to this, but I think that’s because I’ve never been an ace with technology—😂. The friend of mine who recommended Medly to me uses it to make beats, which just goes to show it is easy to be used for many different people. I could only possibly think of one thing to complain about—which is just that it would be cool if you could lower the cost of a membership. I did try it for a month and loved that I could mess around with violin and saxophone sounds, but I really just would like if it could be a tad cheaper for a yearly subscription. I won’t be ungrateful, though, this is much more of a steal than most apps offer for premium—and just flat out better, too. Thanks for the great app! You guys rock! 😊👍

Medly is Epic

People who are looking to get this app: Medly is great! It provides everything a musician could want, all in an intuitive user interface and provides crisp, clean sounds, with an extensive library of instruments. The this app devs are really kind and are definitely mindful of what people want, and provide frequent updates. Medley even goes to provide a free tier with a starter pack that allows people to make awesome music without paying! I know, I know, most people think Member is expensive. It’s $35 a year, and that may be a lot of money for some people. It is definitely worth it, though, as it unlocks a HUGE library of sounds, and when put in perspective, $35 a year isn’t that much! Look at Auxy’s cost per year: $60! Marvel Unlimited: $68! If you don’t want to pay, that’s fine, but leaving a one star review about it is just straight up RIDICULOUS!

Summary: Medly is frequently updated by devs and is well throughout. It has clean sounds and a good UI.

THANK YOU this app!

Great for any level of experience

Medly is really intuitive and easy to learn regardless of your experience with digital audio interfaces. It’s great for beginners to get started with simple music production, and for the more advanced people out there you can still put together some really great sounding stuff in a variety of genres. It’s amazing when I have an idea on the go and I only have a few minutes to quickly get down some chords, a melody, and even record some lyrics. If you’re new to Medly , it’s definitely worth looking into the yearly membership. If you’re like me though and you’ve already purchased the packs and you only want one new one, it’s up to you to decide if that’s worth a subscription.

I think I speak for lot of dedicated this app fans when I say that I would love to still be able to purchase individual packs separately from the membership subscription, but either way it definitely won’t stop me from continuing to use my favorite app.

Fantastic app, some suggestions

To get it out of the way, I love Medly. I have no problem paying the yearly subscription because honestly, the content given is worth the cost. As someone who has used this app since 2016, I have some ideas that I would love to see. First, the ability to have ritardandos and accelerandos being stuck at one tempo severely hampers the more advanced level of song writers. Second, the ability to change the time signature. This would be great because not all songs are in 4/4, and even just adding 3/4 would open avenues to much more dynamic music. Finally, revamp of some of the older sounds. Such as the jazz and classical, their sound fonts are kind of… well trash. As someone who develops sound fonts for websites such as MuseScore, they aren’t terribly difficult.

Thank you for reading this, and I can’t wait till the next pack comes out.
Sincerely,
Isaiah

There’s a problem with the new update

So, the new way to swipe to different bars of your song is to use the dots at the top of the screen. This is pretty useful if you don’t want to manually swipe and swipe to get to the part you want to edit. However, I wish I still had the option to manually swipe. If I do that now, it goes all the way to four bars later. I don’t have access to edit certain notes and it feels really annoying and clunky. Wish I could visually show you what I’m talking about, but I don’t think there’s a way to do that on here. As of right now, I can’t use your app the same anymore. Hope this gets resolved soon ✌️

Edit: Ok, I don’t know if you guys did anything or not, but I’m not having that issue anymore. I was going to send a video to you guys explaining everything, but there wouldn’t be anything to show. All I can say is thanks!!

Dissatisfied

I have purchased the Jazz pack, and I am disappointed. I wanted to purchase the pack because I wanted to write out some of the pieces from my previous year in my schools band. The reason I am dissatisfied is because the range for the instruments doesn’t change at all. I was hoping for there to be an option for me to change the octave of the instruments, as I played the Baritone Saxophone. But there wasn’t. I had used the Low A (two ledger lines below the staff) numerous amounts of times and was sad that I couldn’t change it. I don’t want to just move up my music an octave because I’m lazy.... lol. This paragraph has basically just been a persuasive ‘essay’ for you to add an option to lower the octave range. Another hint I would like to mention is that the Gb and G for the Baritone Saxophone sound weird when put on the octave above the lowest F. Thank you for seeing this if you ever do, because I love Medly and want to see it succeed.

Really Good

I’ve been reading some of the reviews about how “this should be free” or “why do you have to be member to get that”, but the response is plain and simple, this app is a small company that needs funding to continue future operations.
Now that that’s out of the way, here’s why I gave Medly 4 stars. I get that you do need money, but I feel like at least one instrument pack should be free, I completely understand the reasoning if you are not able to, I just feel limited.
The free trials of packs is a really good idea and I feel that listening to what is possible makes me want to be a member, but I just like to make little tracks so I’m not looking to purchase anything.
In conclusion, I know I kinda sound like a choosing beggar but I feel there should be two starting packs. Now, I don’t know what all goes into making the instrument sounds, or how much it costs, so that also might be a factor in why the member option is important, but I hope you see where I’m coming from.

This app is great, don’t question it.

I was expecting more instruments, of course (the ones there have been out for a long time), but I was not expecting a monthly subscription. I’ve been using Medly for a long time because it didn’t have a subscription, I could just buy it and make songs on the go easily. I love Medly always but this is not what I expected nor wanted and I’d think a lot of people using Medly agree on this. Please take this into consideration. Also, there have been some things that have ticked me of before this. The overlay feature where you could see the notes of other instruments while editing was so useful back then so could you ever consider bringing it back? If you can’t I can understand.

Edit: For people who have bought the packs before the update, you will not have to have a subscription for it. It will be kept. For the newcomers and new packs however, you will have to subscribe fir that. Hope that clears the air.

incredible app, even for free

Medly has turned me from a high school violinist into an EDM producer at 15 years old- it’s the only program i understand well enough to use, and i love it for that. it’s allowed me to pursue my passion for music beyond anything i ever could’ve imagined three years ago when i downloaded this. i recently paid for a yearly subscription cause i just had to have all the sound packs, and it’s paid off tremendously! i just finished the best song i’ve ever made, using all those new sounds i just unlocked. thanks so much, this app team!
the only additional thing i could ever ask for would be the ability to add a glissando effect between notes, as the pitch bend tool isn’t quite accurate enough to do this quickly and easily. i think this ability would be the cherry on top of the awesome cake that is Medly :)
thanks so much y’all!!

Amazing app but membership isn’t necessary

Medly is the greatest things of my life. I love all of it. Every single piece of it. The way Medly works easy and simple to learn and use. And the amount of sound bites to use is plenty and they all sound amazing. My favorite pack is Master! But, sadly I can’t not use it.
See, ones you download Medly , the pack you start with is the starter and to get any more packs, you have to pay money. Now I would be fine with this if you could retrieve these packs by being given an option to buy as an in-app purchase or as an add-on in Medly Store, but nope. I have to pay for a membership. Let’s just list some possible Scenarios that could happen: “1. I’m too young and I don’t have a credit card. 2. I don’t want to add my credit card to my phone cause someone could hack it. 3. I can’t pay for that.” Can guys please change the way I got to pay. Thxs!

Love the app but one suggestion

I’ve been using Medly for quite a while and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ^~^ I’ve recreated music from Mario Galaxy, Hamilton, and some of the music from orchestra but I have a suggestion, is there any way in a future update an option can be added to change the time signature? Since Medly can be used basically anywhere with ease I put in the notes for some of my music so I can listen to only my part since I mostly play by ear but a few pieces are a different time signature or some of the other music I transpose are a different time signature and Medly only has 4/4 “^~^ or even to change the time signatures in an individual measure, I’m not really in a hurry or anything for it, it’s just a suggestion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, this is my favorite music app to use; it’s fun to use and I love showing people the stuff I make on here and they love listening to it! ^~^👍🏼❤️

Solid app

Honestly, this is a great app. Been using it for years now. Not only can you get access to a ton of sounds including leads, plucks, synths, basses, drums, etc. but Medly is on your phone, meaning you can take it and work where ever you want. This gives this app a huge leg up on the competition. Most other DAWs (digital audio workstation) are limited to the computer, excluding some like FL Studio. I've tried using FL studio a few times but was always dissapointed because I was so used to the general convenience of this app. The "tap to hear" feature is brilliant and really helps maximize efficiency. I think they should add a "tap to hear" feature on keys. Say you want to hear key D, just tap on it and the D note will play with your current instrument selected. I just have one small complaint though - when recording audio in the Record section of the audio instrument, Medly tends to crash a lot. Sometimes just once, sometimes multiple times in a short time. Quite frustrating, but it could just be happening with a large project. Overall, a great app though. Totally recommend.

Please Read

Hey Medlylabs! I just want to say that Medly is amazing and I pretty much use it everyday. For the price, the amount of content you have is fantastic and I couldn't ask for more. There's just a few questions I have about some instruments.
Firstly, the guitars. The guitars in the rock pack are pretty cool, but they seem to only last as long as a single pluck. Like, you can't extend the sound for more than one beat or so. Why is that? It used to be different some years ago but you guys changed it before I could buy it. I'd really love to use the guitar instruments (because a lot of the songs I cover are pop rock and need guitars) but I can't use them the way they are now. Is there any way you can change them or make a new pack?
Secondly, the violin, cello, and bass instruments lag by half a beat. Could you remove the lag? It’s sort of irritating because it doesn’t flow.
Thank for reading this!

Great way to get people inspired to create

First I want to say that the complaints about wanting free or much cheaper add ons are ignorant at best. Medly didn’t just plop out of the sky without any investment or work done by the developer. Who do they think spends time making the loops, or coding Medly , independently wealthy altruists with nothing but free time on their hands? No of course not. Real living humans do all the work and deserve to be compensated for their efforts. Asking them to work for free is just silly and a little insulting. Try walking into a burger joint and asking them for free food because you can’t or don’t want to pay for it. Same silly thing.

Anyway, great looping app that reminds me a bit of Looptastic from iOS past. This is a well thought out app that is excellent for those who are new to music production to explore some creative avenues at a super low cost. I think even some vets with more experience may find this useful as well or at least a bit fun.

Very nice, but...

Medly seemed confusing at first but eventually you get used to how to use it. I like all of the different options there are (changing how loud a note is, being able to hear a note before placing it, being able to change the key of the piece, etc.) However, these are some things I’d like added:
1.) Crescendos and diminuendos. Being able to change the note’s loudness is helpful, but being able to have more steady dynamics where it’s very gradual is better. It’d be cool if we could just place this feature under the group of notes we want the crescendo or diminuendo to affect.
2.) The way we have to pay monthly or yearly for other features. I dislike having to pay in that way; I’d rather pay a base fee instead of each month or year having expenses for Medly . So please add a bass fee option where we can just flat out pay the expenses for other features and get the payment over and done with.

An AMAZING APP!!!!!!!!!

I’ve tried almost every single music making app on Medly Store and nothing comes CLOSE to this app. I play the piano and the violin and have experience with making music of my own, however making music that way is very time consuming and not very efficient, and not many people who want to make music can play instruments I have several friends like this, BUT with this app, anyone can! Plus, buying all the different sound packs (like I did) is well worth the money you would spend buying them. Its simple and easy to make music with and I’ve created entire 2-4 minuet songs (that includes all the re editing and even re doing the entire song itself) in a matter of minutes. So I guess the easiest thing to say about this app is that it’s PERFECT for any kind of person and you shouldn’t waist your time searching for a better music making app. -Tristan Garrison
