Newer runner

When I was forced out of the office 13 months ago and told to work from home, I got the COVID crazies. I vowed to dedicate my former commute time to my own health. At first I couldn’t run a mile, so I just walked with a backpack. I added weight to the backpack as I lost weight. After I had lost 65 lbs and the backpack was getting heavy I started running. No plan no strategy, just sort Forest Gumped it. After getting stricken with the running bug I wanted an easy to use tool that told me how I was doing and planned out my runs for me without over exerting myself. A friend of mine told me all about his this app pod so I thought I’d try it out. It took me a while to mentally transition from pace to power, but once I did the mileage started going up. If you told me a year ago That I could easily manage to run 60 MPW in a managed way that pushed my fitness further without injury I’d think you were crazy. I am now getting ready for my first full
Marathon and where prior to acquiring the this app pod I stressed over strategy and pace, I now just let the pod tell me my strategy and I just need to execute on what it tells me I can do! Love it!

Good, could be great

Recording functionality on my XR is flaky at best—runs auto-cancel if the pod loses connectivity and don’t restart automatically, meaning I can’t trust Stryd as my only data source (I don’t have a this app compatible watch). Import functionality is great though and the metrics/analytics are very cool. This isn’t an issue for me anymore as I upgraded to a watch that can handle power so I just import from that source to the this app app.

Other problem I find is I can’t start a training plan. Just a nameless error that Stryd “couldn’t add the plan”

Nice configurability, but Training Peaks integration needs work

Very reliable and tracks great metrics especially in PowerCenter. I would really like to use the TrainingPeaks integration, but the sounds integration is way too limited on the Apple Watch. You get quiet dings and haptic alerts, but no voice commands so it’s impossible to tell if you have finished an interval or are over or under a targeted power setting. You end up missing when a new lap starts and there is no way you can be looking at your watch constantly especially if running sprints. I would rate Stryd 5 stars if good audible feedback was provided. Stryd should have some settings to be able to define the types of sounds and when they occur.

Transformed this old man’s running

At 54, I needed a new approach to maintaining my zeal for middle-distance running beyond pace and HR Zones. this app’s power based approach has completely re-energized me. One number encompassing total output has optimized my training across short, long, interval, hill, and other runs. A fantastic Apple Watch app, iPhone app, and incredibly responsive customer service, make this app a must have for any runner. But wait... there’s more. Two weeks of battery life between charges! The new this app also takes wind resistance into account when running, whether the wind’s at your back or blowing into your face. Amazing and useful tech.

Like Riding a Bike

I have been a runner since childhood, but have spent most of my adult training riding bikes. I always used power due to the lag of heart rate and the failure if it to take elevation, wind, and other factors into consideration. Training with power is the only way to ensure your training correctly on the bike a and why should rubbing be any different? this app works great for generating a power number to train to and makes treadmill running more accurate than ever. I’m enjoying in so much this winter than I have hardly touched the bike. this app is making me stronger by the week.

Apple Watch app - ?

There are some major issues with the this app Apple Watch app.

The whole point of this app is running with power as a guide, but without any audio prompts, it is very difficult to figure out what the Watch app is telling you.

But much worse, Stryd isn’t designed well to run as an Apple Watch app. If it goes into the background, even for a few seconds, it stops functioning. So that means you adjust or change anything else on the watch, switch your playlist or whatever, Stryd actually LOSES TIME and the time of your run is now wrong. I was wondering when I started this app THEN started ismoothrun and then switched to put this app in the foreground, and then stopped this app last, why the this app run log was minutes shorter in duration! Now I know.

And the this app app itself is not an uber-running app like ismoothrun is. It doesn’t do much with alerts or heart rate or nutrition or anything other than power.

The metrics are very nice. But please. Make this app work when it runs in the background and give it audio cues!

Auto calculate doesn’t seem to be working

I have auto calculate enabled, but my critical power doesn’t appear to be recalculating. I have the same number from the day I enabled it, which is fine, but it says it hasn’t updated since then either. If it is auto calculating and getting the same crit power number that’s fine, but I’d like to see that it is actually incorporating my latest runs.

Utilitarian

Stryd seems to function fine, but the user experience needs improvement if they really want engagement. Having to scroll through mountains of text is hardly ideal, and even less so on a watch. I'd recommend automatically starting a workout when tapping a workout name from a watch rather than showing the very wordy workout description, which users have to scroll through to hunt for the start button. Hint: try using the Nike Run Club app. It's much more user-friendly.

Great product with great potential but behind on the software

Don’t get me wrong, I do not regret buying a this app pod. It’s a great approach for injury-free running. However, the product lacks its potential with the Apple Watch app. In Stryd you can download workout (from trainingpeak) but there is no audio cues, while on the iPhone app, it is all the opposite. So it is useless in comparison to iSmoothRun... that I use while I would prefer only use this app to compile all my data...
Please make the audio cues available ASAP!!!

App not working as expected

I have several problems with the last updated version and the Apple Watch. The interval countdown on the workouts usually freeze and have to change screens back and forth to get working again!!. This is a serious issue when you are monitoring your time! Also, the feature list mentions new audio cues to know if you are in the power zone or below/above and when the interval ends but that doesn’t work. I have to watch every time to get that information. Please fix these issues since is almost unusable for me and have to use other third party apps.

First time use and very accurate

First time to use this app. Though only used it 2 months before the race(a little too late) and being under trained (as usual) still able to predict my finish time pretty close. Very impressed! Will definitely relay my future marathon training with it #this app #strydrunning. Best tool to use to train based on “perceived effort”.

Doesn’t work if also using Bluetooth headphones

I am using the this app App from my iPhone (no watch), and if I am running with Bluetooth headphones, Stryd stops recording after 2 or 3 minutes into my 60 minute run (even though in real time I can see it is monitoring my power all the way through my run). I love the data I get from the this app device, but this bug makes is essentially unusable. Please fix the compatibility.

Works great!

I’m sure more features will come in the future, but for an app as young as it is, this is really great. Has the basics and a few great features, and haven’t come across a single bug. My hope is that it keeps its simplicity, and avoids all the extra fluff some others put in. And also, hope it stays free and ad-free. I mean, the this app pod was expensive enough. (but worth it!)

Aug 14 update has broken Apple Watch Complication

this app is great generally. RSB Apple Watch complication doesn’t always display now or goes awol for long periods. Also when will there be a one touch “stop” button for races? The hard press then X is clumsy when you have crossed a finish line and doesn’t always work when you’re all sweaty.

Good app, need a better way to secure the pod.

Everything worked well, until the pod was lost for a second time during a cross country meet. The first time, we were able to track it down with the connection to the phone, not so lucky the second time. We haven’t decided if we should get a new pod and risk losing another one. The engineer in me believe I can design another way to keep it secured. I’ll see if we decide to get another one.

App terrible, product good

You guys have figured out a way to make the information the device gathered very hard to see.

Why can’t the graph be my whole screen? Why do I have to see the map so big? I have google maps and I know my neighbourhood, I don’t need another app for that. It’s a huge waste of real estate. I got this app to look at my workout data, please make that a priority.

The web site is great. Solves all of the shortcomings of Stryd .

Great training device

I’ve enjoyed using my this app over the past few months. I rarely look at my other metrics any more and I feel like my training has become more consistent now that I’m looking at power vs everything else. It’s expensive but worth it.

By

Great Device

this app’s ability to track a run exceeds GPS tracking, in addition to vital metrics needed for running improvements. Something that I’ve not seen mentioned is this app’s protein suggestion. I struggle at getting enough protein in my diet and I thought it interesting that this app assessed one of my fatigue areas to be protein deficient.

Worked great until watchOS 6

As of watchOS 6, workouts are semi broken. When you start the workout, the screen is partially obscured by the text “get ready” for the whole workout. The workout still works, but you can’t see your current power.

Really promising upgrades!

Stryd basically makes the Apple Watch a contender with Garmin for running. The addition of structured workouts and training plans is huge. I’d love to have the ability to create workouts in Stryd .

Awesome app

One of the best running apps for the Apple Watch. There’s small things id change(alerts more prominent, changing the week to start on Monday instead of rolling, build workouts in app instead of training peaks, etc) but overall it’s a good app trending in the right direction. Makes the Apple Watch much more of a Runner’s Watch.

Penomenal app and device

I’ve been training with this app for a year now. I used to run 15-20k per week; I now run 50-60. My race times improved tremendously: Went from 50th percentile to 25th. this app is especially helpful if you run in wind or on hills. Highly recommend the whole system.

The latest release app is keep on crashing

I am only a this app Live user and the only purpose of Stryd is to update it and check on battery kevel. Hence, as a start Stryd is very very very basic.

Further, the one day old latest app release is keep on crashing and can’t be open.

this app is known to be accurate and expensive footpod for a this app Live user as myself. It’s kinda worth it but again no additional features for the this app Live and the latest app released make it worse.

Wish I owned one of these 20 years ago!

The this app power meter has gasified my runs and energized me to get out the door. I may not be able to put in the distance or speed that I once did, but this app helps manage the workloads. Thanks!

Auto Critical Power Updates

It’s great that the new version updates critical power without testing. Love that! But I’m really missing the daily insights that Stryd produced in the last version. Are these gone for good?
