LoyalBooks is SO amazing!
Here are the reasons I love it so much:
There is only 1 book I listen to (the wizard of oz) and I listen to it JUST to put me to sleep and man oh man does it do its job! I fall right to sleep in the matter of one chapter! The cool this is, when you turn it on, you can turn your phone off and it will still play so if you fall asleep it will finish the book, then stop. Since your phone/computer is allready shut off, the battery is kept and it will not move on to another book. You jave the choise to read or listen to the book of your pick. I love how calm and sleepy the person who reads the wizard of oz is and some other books also. I truly suggest, you wont be disipointed!

This is the first audiobook or podcast player I know that gets the sleep timer right. Others are like the sleep timers in bedside radios. Set it for 15 minutes, and the sound goes off after 15 minutes—period. To listen more, you have to reset the sleep timer and restart the playing manually.

Not so with the Loyal Books app. At my suggestion, the sleep timeout pauses play. Press the play button on your earphones, and it resumes play instantly with the sleep timer reset. You can keep resetting until you fall asleep.

That matters because other sleep timers either time out before we fall asleep, forcing a restart that wakes us up, or time out long after we go to sleep. The latter means that the next day we have to manually scroll back some unknown length of time until we reach the last part of a book or podcast that we remember; That’s a nuisance.

So many thanks for Loyal Books for being the first to get the sleep timer right. Perhaps others will follow and make that sleep timeout an easily reset pause.

Works great some glitches with formatting when you go to details of the book it goes to books higher on the list and the description is one letter on each line. Also sometime when it reads at the end of the section it cuts off the last 15 seconds I guess to say who’s reading it. But bring free books to the masses with that can be read to them is great for people that likes to listen more then read and young people who can benefit most from this.

I am very, very thankful for this free app. It is wonderful. I like mysteries and these old ones are the best! It has taken my mind VM off my husband’s cancer and other worries beyond my control.
I especially like the Alice stories and their dramatic readings. I never get tired of listening to them.
My mother and Mary always got johnnie crows garden and it’s nice to be able to read some of the stories I read in my youth.
You can read any genre your heart desires and all for free.
Thank you as it has been my salvation.

It’s got lot of options and great books. Only problem is most of the books only let you listen to around chapters 3-5 then just randomly stop and refuse to play anymore. One book I had to skip all of chapter one and it stopped again at chapter four. Even if it’s downloaded it doesn’t make a difference. And if you try to stream before downloading it won’t play until you download delete stream then the stream cuts off soon after it starts. Not really worth the time unless you like listening to the beginning when it starts getting good then going to a new book.

I cannot express how grateful I am that LoyalBooks exists! I used to sit around moaning about trying to get stuff on my phone from the library until I found the website LoyalBooks is based on, and ever since I've found it, I never need to feel like I have nothing to read again! LoyalBooks isn't flashy but it does it's job just fine! I love the sleep timer and the discover section-- lovely added bonuses to having so much literature at one's fingertips! Love love love LoyalBooks 😍

I like LoyalBooks because I cannot afford Audible or Kindle books. It is great that people volunteer their time and effort to read ! Some of the reading is very good, some not so good; but I am thankful for their efforts! I like that I can do other things and listen. You won't find new books here, but that is fine. I have found books by authors like Grace Livingston-Hill, Jules Verne, etc. and some were books that I had never read or heard of! It is an adventure and I am so glad LoyalBooks is available and is improving all the time. I do recommend it.

Ok I love LoyalBooks but when I am off the internet it won’t let me go through the browse and look for books so I don’t like that but if you have some books you have in your library then you can listen to them off line so I do like that. Thanks for reading this bye

The positive impact that an app like Loyal Books has, is the kind that just doesn’t get measured by GDP. Audiobooks are an amazing invention and thank you Loyal Books for making so many historic texts available to us for free.
Although the narrators of some of the books can surely do better, the nobility of this effort alone merits 5 starts.

LoyalBooks is totally free and gives you access to books that would be hard to find otherwise. I love the children’s versions of Shakespeare and Ancient Greek myths. There is everything from Celtic fairy tales to African folk stories, classics, biographies, philosophy, essays—you name it. I’ve had this for years and use it all the time.

LoyalBooks is a dream come true! I downloaded LoyalBooks, after searching for some free audio books. I had no idea what I had really found. Hundreds of classics! The ads are tucked down at the bottom of the page. I didn’t even notice them after a day or two. GET LoyalBooks!

I know it’s free, and that’s great!
But If I were you I would....include newer books and older ones. Like Nate the Great, The Boxcar children,and A to Z Mystery’s. And that’s just a few examples. And Swiss Family Robinson keeps replaying. 🙁. Never, ever, ever download stupid, poopy “loyal-shmoyal book-ey-wookey-bookes! And the people who read sound like 4 year olds.

I love how it has lots of amature readers, soo many books, and is free!
I have a 2.5 y/o and find reading to him sometimes keeps him awake, while pushing me torwards sleep.
LoyalBooks lets me lay down for a nap with him, hear a story, and not have the active engagement of colored pages.
Just tell him to imagine the pictures from the words and he naps sweetly :)

Just started my first book, and so far so good. No crashes (as earlier reviews indicated). Good reader voices/speed. Only complaint is that you have to manually select each chapter. The reading stops at the end of each chapter. I checked sleep timer - it is off. Is it possible for the chapters to play continuously ?

The application is due for an update. It has been having some issues with loading errors.

Been using this for audiobook entertainment for two plus years and have had absolutely no issues with LoyalBooks. It has been totally reliable during my 400 mile biweekly round trip to work/office. Thanks!

I’ve been looking for an app to listen to maze runner on for a while, and I saw this and thought “I’ll try this one!” So I downloaded LoyalBooks and went to the search bar- there was no maze runner. It’s mostly old books that I have no interest in reading and they have almost no current books.

When I first read the description and the reviews I thought it was LoyalBooks for me. I have been looking for a completely free book app for a long time. I downloaded it and I was amazed how quick it installed. I opened it and I looked at lots of books. It worked great!

Until I searched. When I tried to search it didn't even show the letters I typed!!
I went home to close my apps.
I did it again.
Same thing!!!!

I tried just looking for a book. I clicked on the book and it took me to my home screen.
I closed my app.
I did it again.
SAME THING!!!

This is not LoyalBooks I was searching for!!!
This is glitchy and buggy!!!!
Why aren't there ANY FREE GOOD APPS?
Please make this better and MAYBE I'll install again..

Thank you loyal books! I listen to your books to go to sleep at night and have done so for five years. I love children’s classic literature and have thoroughly enjoyed the reading of so many books. Mark Smith, one of the readers, is excellent! He does accents and characters voices and conveys meaning so well. This is a treasure trove left over from the Honey moon period of the Internet.

It's a good app, but can we please have some books that are not the same white men? There are so many more female authors and people of color who published novels in the public domain time period. Charlotte Yonge. Zitkala sa. Fanny Fern. Sojourner Truth. Just to name a few. There are dozens more.

After having a major heart attack I found that I had to take a lot of walks LoyalBooks has made it very easy to continue walking because I have some exciting audiobooks to listen to!

Needs some more current books but I liked some that they did have.

I love LoyalBooks. I have wanted to read many of the books they have and find little time to do so. Being able to "read" while I work is awesome! Love, love, love LoyalBooks!!!!👍🏻👍🏻
