Have been using TheRoanokeTimes for over a year with no problem, it recently started doing strange things. On upload, half of screen is filled with a banner ad, no way to turn it off or override it. Arrows on sides don’t work sequentially - will go from page 1 to page 3, then page 5, etc., same on reverse. Unpredictable - sometimes does odd number skips, sometimes even, sometimes a combo of even and odd. Have tried deleting app and reinstalling, didn’t work. Called digital services number at the paper, couldn’t suggest a fix. Access via browser is fine, this must be an app problem.

Do not like.

I hate this new format and wish it was back the old way. Too confusing and hard to find local stories.

TheRoanokeTimes was written by a 6th grader with ADD only the first few lines of anything work (at least on a new iPhone 6s) any attempt to go back lands you on the home page. Even the obits stop 1/3 the way through the alphabet or jump to postings months old. I believe TheRoanokeTimes was computer generated with No Attempt to test it. It really rates a minus zero but 1 star is as low as you can go.

I would use TheRoanokeTimes more, but navigation is awful, and ads are plentiful. I was especially upset on Feb 12 when the desktop version blocked me saying I HAD to buy a subscription. Y'all will eventually figure out that you need us more than we need you.

You can only read 10 articles a month. They ask you to subscribe but no Lnkenhoker to "sign up". Not that I would because this is the Information Age and I can read local news on the TV news websites.

Too many ads mixed in with news articles. It can get confusing.

I subscribed to read the e-paper which was recently removed from TheRoanokeTimes making it worthless to me.

TheRoanokeTimes works okay most of the time, but it loads incredibly slow and often freezes in the middle of an article. You can't further in the article, you can't go back, basically have to close TheRoanokeTimes and start over. The writing is fantastic, but the local competitors have much more functional apps, even though they look almost identical in format!

Much improved over the previous version. The tile format works well for new delivery and seems the format of choice amongst the news industry.

It's nice to be able to access my local paper but it doesn't have all the stories in my newspaper

Good app. Has gotten easier to use. Does take up more storage than most of my other apps. All in all, I like it!👍

I get Roanoke Times on my iPad. Every day, I can depend on the Times to send me the headlines of interest. Also, if I want to see the entire newspaper, I am able to go on the Internet for ALL the news. Try it. You will love it! Betty E.
