Useless pod

I struggled to find a place to change my baby in the SAT airport. I thought this pod might have a place to safely lay down and change my baby like other airport lactation rooms but it didn’t! It was just 2 hard benches and a mirror and some space to put stuff, not suitable to sit or lay your baby down safely. The pod felt oddly laid out and cramped and the lights turned off automatically after only being inside for a minute just looking around! I had to just leave after wasting all this time downloading Mamava and signing up. I can see how it would be useful for pumping moms but not in the dark! Sure I could feed my baby in there but not comfortably!

Account required to access???!

I was excited to find that the Tucson airport had installed a place for me to nurse my child in privacy. When I arrived at the pod a sign informed me that I would need to download Mamava in order to access the space. This was frustrating enough but I assumed it kept people from using the space for other reasons. I couldn’t get Mamava to download and had to log on to the airport’s Wi-Fi, all the while my child was getting more and more fussy. When I finally was able to download Mamava it would not let me in without creating an account. At this point I finally abandoned the whole thing and just ended up feeding my child on the floor. Thanks for nothing.

Great concept, buggy app.

Note to others having problems with Mamava: two other good app options are pumpspotting and MomsPumpHere (though some of the MPH ones are out of date).

I love the concept of both the pods and Mamava . However it’s almost unusable in its current form:
- Tapping the search icon crashes Mamava every time (I’m running ios12).
- Every time I view info about a location then hit back to return to the map, it resets to my current location instead of the location where I was viewing. Then I have to zoom out and navigate to the place where I was viewing — since as mentioned above the search won’t work to get you to wherever you’re looking.
- Every time the map resets or opens, there’s a significant delay while Mamava hangs.
- I can’t find a way to save/favorite locations despite there being a section for that.

Really hope the developers will address these issues so Mamava can reach its potential!

Doesn’t work well for NYC

Mostly because the pods are all in places where you have to be a university student and can’t actually enter the area where the pods are... the one I was able to enter, the wait was quite long, it’s in the open, and no option to rinse. Mamava itself doesn’t load quick, or resets to your current location, making searching a pain. I also couldn’t mark the locations for which a school ID was needed to let other lactating mothers know.

Most of the complaints were similar to other users who wrote before me. The idea is great though. I hope it will grow and benefit others, but for me, going to a bathroom may be quicker :( since that’s where I seem to be directed when nothing is available

Frustrating onboarding

I’m at the aquarium and my baby is screaming he’s so hungry. I finally locate the lactation pod, it’s available, but I can’t get in without downloading an app, surrendering my email, enabling Bluetooth, creating an account with password, then finding the pod and opening it... By this time I’m getting hysterical myself because my baby is so upset and I wasn’t expecting so much friction just to feed my baby. Other pods in airports just use a manual deadbolt, like any bathroom stall. If you are providing a quality service (it looks like you maybe are - helping us find options) I will create an account later. Please don’t hold me and my baby hostage when we’re most vulnerable.

Needs improvements

Great attempt!! I am grateful for the attempt but it needs tweaking. Firstly i was unaware that I’d be pumping in an open area with potentially other parents. That’s a bummer for me because i don’t want other mothers in having their eyes on me while I’m trying to pump and store my milk. Maybe they should add a divider curtain. Especially since when i walked by and the door opened i could see inside. That’s a super negative. I definitely don’t want the entire airport watching me in my bare. Also. When pumping. The need to actually rinse items is needed. The attempt was nice with the sanitizer spray. Also the lights went off on me while i was in there. It just needs improvements.

Quick and Simple, but lacks one critical feature

I was able to quickly and easily install Mamava and get into the lactation pod at the Atlanta airport. The pod was wonderful and my baby quickly fell asleep after being so wound up at the airport. I was going to stay in there and let him rest for as long as possible, but after a while there was a knock at the door. I didn’t answer because I didn’t want to wake my baby, but soon there was another knock so he woke up and I went to the door. Another couple was there, and apparently they had been waiting. I can understand that they needed to nurse their baby, but I wish Mamava had a feature to let me know they were waiting, because I probably could have snuck out quietly and kept my baby asleep. As it was, they were miffed about having to wait, and I was miffed that they woke my baby up. This would probably be a simple feature to add to Mamava .

Great app, but frustrating loading

Looooove Mamava and the help that it provides! The only thing is that every time you click to view a location, then go back to view the map it takes 5-8s to load, and goes back to your location (rather than the one you had been viewing.) Trying to plan a day trip to the next town over was pretty annoying. I had to keep waiting for it to load and moving the map back. Improving that loading would make it perfect! Thanks all!

Life saver.

I needed a place to pump for my 3-month-old daughter who won’t breastfeed anymore. That’s been stressful enough. So imagine my stress level when I had to fly with her alone to a funeral. The this app pod was a lifesaver. Somewhere private and clean to pump, eat some leftover pizza, and try to pull myself together. It’s not a pod. It’s support in a physical structure. Mamava is easy and accurate and helpful to use as well. Thank you, this app.

Absolutely genius!

I always keep looking for an area at the airport to breastfeed comfortably and away from too much distractions for my baby. The this app pods are a genius idea and super convenient. Easy to use, comfortable, both me and baby had a great experience. I highly recommend using it if you need to breastfeed or pump peacefully. I hope we’ll see more of them across airports in the US and globally! Thank you, this app for creating this!

Easy, Fast, Convenient!

While on a work trip recently, I desperately needed a place to pump. I found a this app pod in the SFO airport and was able to download Mamava , enter my email and unlock the pod within less than a minute. So thankful that Mamava did not force a lengthy log in process before providing access! The pod was clean and quiet, and I made sure to sign up for an official this app account while pumping. Will definitely use again in the future. Thank you!

Amazing

This is just about the most brilliant idea and it’s so so helpful for anyone who is traveling. This thing is especially great for pumping moms since you can’t just hook up your pump at the gate and start pumping.
My only feedback is I wish there were more of them, perhaps one at every terminal and every airport. Also in writing a review it makes you give yourself a nickname and most of the nicknames are taken so it takes forever to leave a feedback.

Love this thing ‼️

Ok so I’ve NEVER seen a this app before nor have I ever heard of one but I’m glad I came across one. It’s super cozy in here & has just enough space for you & your little one.
I do wish there wasn’t a vent up top that allows all the outside noise to be heard. I’m at a fitness center with a lot of basketball games going on so it’s crazy loud but my daughters a heavy sleeper so it doesn’t faze her. Also I love how I can control the lights & fan from Mamava I wish I could play the music from Mamava in the pod instead of just from my phone but other than that I LOVE IT‼️ Can’t wait to use it again.

Great & Helpful for Lactating mamas!

I used a this app pod earlier this week while on a layover through Newark Airport and it was so fantastic to have a place designated to breastfeed and pump. The suite was very clean and well lit. I loved the clouds wallpaper - it helps to instill a little calm from the chaos of traveling. They're also pretty sound proof so you have a break from the noise. Honestly I was so happy to find it and use one for the first time! I followed them and wrote about them on my blog too. I think they're a great company doing great things by supporting mothers this way.

Incredible invention

This pod is amazing, I would pay to use this. But the fact that it’s free and accessible to all is just a huge added bonus. I’ve been pumping on the bathroom floor since returning to work, and was actually about to quit breastfeeding at 15 months just because pumping at work is such a pain. Being able to use this pod not only allows my to continue breastfeeding, but it makes me excited to come in here and decompress while I pump. Amazing amazing job!!!

Red eye, delayed and deplaned

We were taking a red eye flight back home. Sadly our flight got delayed and then deplaned. My little one had been screaming already and then we found the pod right next to our gate. It couldn’t be anymore perfect. The dim lights and a privacy allowed me to nurse my little one to a sound sleep while we wait for our flight. Mamava is perfect it took less than a minute to load and access the pod. Thank you so much for providing this wonderful space.

Super thankful to have found one of these pods!

I needed a clean quiet place to nurse my easily distractible 8 month old, and was so thankful to have stumbled upon a this app at the Atlanta Airport. Thank you so much! It was easy to get signed up, easily accessible yet private, clean and comfortable. Couldn’t recommend enough.

The only thing I would change is to put photos of babies and moms on the outside instead of pregnant women. 😂 Pregnant women aren’t nursing yet unless you’ve got other babies already! Just doesn’t make much sense to me. (This part is just a joke. this app is still fantastic!)

A mom’s breast friend!

Such a gem! I asked an airport employee at ATL for a lactation space and they pointed me to the this app pod. I thought they might just have a shared family room or lounge, but this was such a treasure in the middle of a busy airport!
So easy to use, lights and sound controlled directly from Mamava —even Mamava itself is super easy and interesting to browse outside of this app pods! No bugs, no ads, no requests for donations, just quick and simple.
This pod gave me a moment of sanity in the middle of 3 flights with my little and too much carry on. Such a blessing. Thank you this app!

Game Changer!

Your pods and app are just wonderful! Knowing that I can just turn on my phone when the plane lands to find a clean, convenient, and private location to pump is game changing for me! I am a working mother who travels for her job and in the past I have walked around blindly (passing numerous pet relief areas!) searching for a location and often times when asking agents or information desk for options they were clueless. I’ve pumped in dirty bathrooms and sometimes skipped altogether because I wouldn’t be able to find a place in time.

So grateful to have this app looking out for nursing mothers!

So thankful for Mamava

I travel a few times a month for work and pump for my son while I’m away. I am so happy I could cry when there is this app Pod in the airport I am in. The ones in Atlanta always have a wait which is so cool - really amazing and comforting to know other moms are using them as well. I love that Mamava shows other places where you can pump or nurse as well. Thank you thank you thank you!!! I want to hug whoever has thought of these for us!
