Decent if you don’t mind not being competitive

At this point, the game has been out for so long that you will literally have no opportunity to be a top player in game. All other reviews are mostly accurate that the best players all pay hundreds of dollars, if not more. You can play free and still acquire decent heroes and skins, but the length of time it takes to complete will be maybe like 6-12 months depending on your dedication to get one skin. This game was indeed a lot more fun and competitive several years ago before skins, before artifacts etc. But if you start now, you’ll be so far behind the curve that you’ll need to spend a ton of money on gems just to get your team level up. I still play every day but it has become a lot more of a grind and feels more like work than fun these days. Also feels honestly like there is too much of a focus on releasing new heroes and new game content frequently than refining what already exists. There is no need to have new heroes every month. You could instead offer something to help customize current heroes or something that requires a level of skill to play. If you want a game to quietly grind and play out a story on your own, this will work. If your competitive and want to pvp others and be the best, most likely will not happen without an absurd amount of real life money. I’m level 109 for reference.

Interesting game that’s dying on the vine.

The good - Hero’s Charge is an interesting and dynamic game. It has casual PvP meaning while you fight other players, you don’t lose much (e.g. there’s no griefing or camping of players). When someone raids you, you basically lose a small part of what you were gathering/farming so there’s a benefit for raiding others but you never get crippled like some games. While you can spend a lot of money if you want, the game doesn’t feel like you are crippled if you don’t. The devs seem to be adding tweaks and new features to the game (although related to monetization in many cases).

The bad - The game is essentially dying because as servers fill up, and people can’t join them but get sent to new ones. As players leave the game (stop playing) others can’t join, and the number of active players there just declines - while many types of raiding are cross server, guild and server level quests and activities don’t so it becomes next to impossible to complete guild activities. If the publishers would clean out stale account records (or discount them from server caps) this problem would go away. In theory you can migrate to servers but only to older ones (which are presumably full). There is very little info from the devs on these capabilities.

If you are looking for casual fun, it’s a great game but by the time you get intellectually invested, you will likely hit a wall and become frustrated.

This is a Pay To Play game

Well I have been playing this game for about 4 years and as time went by the game went down hill. 4 years ago the game was simple you could get all the heroes with out wasting a dime. You had the option to buy gems (which allows you to move up faster in the game by spending them) but that was it, every hero was free and obtainable to everyone. Fast forward a couple of years and they started introducing the “heroic sack” feature which you could spend up to $100 and you would get many things for the game. But it was at the point that they got greedy because many started purchasing them (myself included). So they started introducing more heroes, event heroes and P2P (pay to play) heroes. And this marked the beginning for the non-pay to play players decline. Because now you would have to spend about $200 just to fully upgrade the P2P hero. And many people have better things to do with those $200 than spending them on this game. And now a days they are trying to milk people with this new feature called “skins” for the heroes. Which most of them cost over $250. uCool got greedy and are trying to milk the few paying players they have. I stopped buying stuff from the game since they Introduce the skins. And i know that pretty soon I will leave this game for good. Moral of the story is that this game is good for you if you want to throw away money or bad game if you have better thing to do with $200 a week.

Game is unfair

You have to now spend money! They upgraded levels of all heroes but not skills , unless you buy gold not enough to do anything especially upgrade skills , they went to fruit to upgrade heroes levels but made game so hard you can’t beat it so no fruit but a few everyday and all of its purple fruit no orange fruit in game if heroes above 140 need orange fruit so once again you have to buy it , this game use to be able to play little money involved not anymore and then those who spend a lot money get all the rewards and rob your caves to death less gold for you more for them and they get crazy stronger , I played this game because I like seeing what heroes had what skills ,at this point no gold very little diamonds and only have 12 heroes to level took everything I had to get there now nothing to increase levels and skills and still have 380 heroes that need there skills upgrades let alone try to go up in level in game , no longer fun to much work for little rewards the game became all about Greed from ucool and the rules of game are constantly changing it has become a worthless game to play anymore unless your rich and have thousands of dollars to spend on it , game always broken after updates and never gets fixed by ucool

Used to be great!

I have been playing Heroes Charge since shortly after it was released to the public. I think that was around Christmas six years ago. I have played nearly every day since then. Unfortunately, since the last major update earlier this year the game has been so messed up that it's almost impossible to play it. Up to the point of that update I would have given it 5 stars, but now it's hard to even give it 1 star. I'm sticking with the game in hopes that Ucool will fix the mess they have made of this game. I would like to continue to play this game if they fix it. I'm financially unable to afford a game that requires a real world monitory contribution, so I have played the entire game without spending money. That means, just like in real life, I have had to earn everything that I have in the game. I'm a level 108 and I have 155 characters. I'm afraid that all that I have done is going down the drain because of a major update that, from what I see on social media, is causing problems for players all over the world. It's sad when you have come to rely on something that you enjoy as an escape from reality, and it has now become more frustrating than the real life you're trying to escape from! Yes, Heroes Charge used to be great, but now, it's almost impossible to play!

Worst customer service

The game is alright, though it gets tedious to level up. It’s definitely a pay to win game and compared to others I’ve played, this one is FAR more expensive for what you get. It seems the developers are quite greedy, too. The game is super glitchy at times, and every interaction with customer service to try and get things rectified when not receiving rewards is that they can’t do anything, or their records don’t match what you say, even if you have screenshots showing what you should have received. I’m in an active guild and hear complaints almost weekly of being charged multiple times and the uncool support saying it’s all Apple’s or Google’s fault. I still play simply to reach a goal I set for myself in game, but I will no longer pay any money to greedy devs with poor customer support for an often glitchy game. I want others to know before they start....if I knew then what I know now, I would have moved on to another game like Marvel Strike Force or Age of Magic. Both have similar formats to this game. AoM can be played completely free if you want...it just takes longer than if you spend money from time to time.

Black hole for money

I just want to describe my recent experience with this game and you can decide if it sounds like a game you want to play. Right out of the gate they are constantly filling up your entire screen with in-app purchases. They’ve made the game ENTIRELY pay to win. You cannot even come close to competing as a F2P player because you can’t obtain a good amount of the strong heroes without spending money. With that being said I spent about $140 during the startup of a server. Shortly after spending this amount of money (about 2 days) I lost access to my account because I tried to link my Facebook and it basically made my new account disappear. Upon losing access, I emailed support and they’ve been no help at all. The response is incredibly slow (going on 4 days with no response now) and when they do respond it’s to try and get more information. I was unable to provide my account ID because it was only a few days old, how am I supposed to remember that? I knew my account name, level, entire purchase history, etc, but here I am now $140 in the hole with absolutely nothing to show for it. Oh, and surprise surprise they don’t issue refunds.

Great game and so relaxing

So I’ve had this game for years on many different devices and accounts and I can’t tell u how much I just love this game yes it might be a little pay to win but it doesn’t change the fact how fun it’s is like I mean the art of the heroes and the game it’s self it’s feels so classic to me cus it is one of first games like this I’ve ever downloaded to play I can’t not play it every day and no other games made in 2019 are like this of the pitcular like this it just has that feel of goodness u know when u open this and I can’t even get started on the updates it continuisley updates even tho not millions play it. pleas game maker never ever ever make this game die always update add new stuff cus I would be heartbroken if u gave up on it and I’m speaking for thousands of other players who poured thousands and thousands of hours in to this game thank u for reading this and I wish u understand ☺️😁😇

No longer fun

Been playing for a few years now and not having fun anymore. When I first started playing there were many players which meant quite a few servers. This balanced things out quite a bit. I would typically play against players around or close to my level. As the players have dropped they have consolidated servers which now puts you against much higher players. Almost everyone I play against is at least a level 107 or higher with many purchased heroes. Being at 105 for me took me ages and the only way to compete at this point is to spend not just a little bit of money but a lot of money. At higher levels grinding this game is just not possible. Too many new skins and new characters are released to keep up with at this point. It’s to bad, because it really is a fun game. But at this point I’m just going through the motions everyday. I don’t see how the developers could ever fix this since they have gone so far down the pay to win strategy. The balance at this point is so far out that I doubt its possible to ever correct.

Early fun becomes a drudge later on

As mentioned by other reviewers, the game is a lot of fun for the first week or two while still building low level characters and doing the early campaigns. The other reviewers played down the amount you’ll have to spend unless you’re willing to wait weeks or months to promote characters, which is actually in the thousands of US dollars.
Higher level equipment usually requires 3-4 other high level equipment pieces to make, each of which takes from 20 to 100 fragments, with each fragment only being dropped on average every 4-5 campaign trials. Just takes way too long to get anywhere. It is also ridiculous to price app add ins for $70, $100, or more. They would sell more if their add on packages were more reasonably priced (under $20 for the most expensive).
Also I recommend that the designers be a little freer with treasure and drop complete items, not parts which just unnecessarily drags the game out.

Problems

I’m a level 105 player that’s invested around $150 into the game so far. It’s decent to play and some good improvements have been made to make dailies a little more quick. I’ve been spending about an hour a day on this game for probably a year or so. But I agree I’ve watched the game change, starting with the release of skins. Uncool has really kicked their greed into high gear. When skins first debuted it took 200 fragments, new skins are now 400 fragments. Good skins are impossible to get without spending hundreds. I don’t mind not being competitive in pvp but it’s become a snowball of pay to get characters and skins that are on a whole different level than the free ones.
On top of that the last update they did makes it to where I have a 236MB download every time I load the game and it’s been like that for a couple days now.
There are many games like this, and it’s really not special or great. So if you’re thinking about getting into this game, just don’t.

Destroyed

Years ago u would play this game everyday and it never got boring to me. But a couple years ago they had this huge update that changed so much in the game. The theme music changed to he way the animations played changed it got really slow and clunky compared to how it used to be and worst of all they started to change the characters. Ember is one of the ones that got a bad change they put that ugly black dress on her and made her all stuff. Her old model was simple but it was good. Same thing with “harp magician” she used to be a boy and he was a skeleton with a septet and was so much cooler than her. And that angel with the boy she got a terrible change too. She used to ride on an animal but of course they decided to ruin her. The only ones that I see that haven’t changed at all are poised one, and admiral. They didn’t change at all. Idk why they messed up my favorite game it was so good and now it has ugly skinny characters with stuff torsos and it just slow. Take be back 😔

Cant recommend in good faith

I see this game’s ads all the time. Going in, I know that any game that advertises this heavily is going to be a cash grab by the devs, but this one is over the top. To their credit, some of the gameplay is actually what’s in the ads, which isn’t always the case, but mostly it’s an idle grinder. It’s way too busy - after a brief tutorial, you’re brought to the main city which has over a dozen different things to click on. The thing that completely turned me off is that after the tutorial is done, there are multiple different storefronts and offers / incentives to spend money - all the way up to a $1,000 USD one, and there are 6 different popup screens with different things to buy every time the game is opened. It’s abundantly clear that the devs wanted to cram in as much quantity of content, with little regard for quality, to give themselves as many opportunities to make offers to sell as possible.

Worth some time

I was looking for an alternative to CoC before it went downhill to diversify my game time. It took me a while to start enjoying the game. Despite the drama about the developers, I enjoy it very much. I also enjoy the events that open as you gain exp levels. I have spent some money on the game and thought it was worthwhile. Overall it is a good game you can plan solitary although I recommend you join a guild to help with experience points and other loot. More than 2 years later, I still enjoy this game. New content and new hero's help keep the excitement going. Join a guild to experience everything. On year 3 of playing, still my go-to game for events and activity, I enjoy it and I play with a great group of adults from around the world.

Pay to play

This was a fun game for the first few months, but unless you shell out some serious $$$, you will lose to players who spend more money-even if they are lower level than you. The skins and the new heroes are ridiculously priced, and you can’t compete without them. You also have to pay gems if you want to chat more than 10 times in world chat-and the number of characters you can type per message are capped-a shameless money grab. Tired of the pay to play model, and have deleted the game. Unless you have hundreds or thousands of dollars to waste per week on a phone game, don’t bother

Update: also, don’t trust the reviews-it is very suspicious when a game gets 30 5-star reviews in 3 days (2/29 through 3/2) and most of them have the kind of weird English that the developers use to respond to reviews. I suspect that the developers are writing their own BS reviews about how ‘great’ their game is.

Fraudsters!

I have enjoyed this game for many years, and like so many games it has shifted to a pay-to-win model. Recently the company decided to punish its players due to a mistake by their incompetent developers. Let me explain, they introduced some new items that was unique and when sold in game, gave a large number of gems for a shop. The different items sold for different amounts, so it seemed to the players this was done intentionally. Ucool decided that this was a punishable offense and too away all the shop gems and anything bought which them. They did not however refund the diamonds used to refresh the shop, or the arena coins spent on the initial item. Even after multiple emails, pointing out this was their error and not the fault of any of us, Ucool has decided to dismiss the average players and punish us for their mistake. Not cool Ucool, you have lost so many of us because of this, your error.

It was a fun ride

Now it’s more of a daily grind. The competitive balance has gone away. As mentioned in other reviews, the game has developed into more of pay to win game. $100 skins to stay afloat. If I hadn’t been playing for over 3 years now I would have stopped about a year ago. 95% of my maxed out heroes (or more) are completely useless in the arena. Heroes released within the last few months or reintroduced with expensive skins make up the top portion of each arena. Uncool merged servers and a mass exodus started to occur. Rather than admit to a mistake more servers were merged. Say five servers are merged for example...now five servers compete for the reward of one server. It saves Ucool from having to pay out as much in rewards but also drove off many core players who were in a budget. Most low server players can’t stay competitive while only paying for monthly, weekly, seasonal, annual cards.

A must have game

I've been playing this game for over a year and a half now! And still play it religiously every day, pass the time, make friends and enjoy a great game. At first is a little tedious, but if you get past the first 15 to 20 lvls you'll find a new game and new challenges! Find yourself a good guild and the rest is history!
I definitely recommend this game! Ps: in game purchase not necessary! I did buy some stuff only because i had spent so many hours and days and months that was only fair to pay something to the guys!

Edit: went from 5 to 3 stars and it might keep going down, the game went from purchase optional to a must if you want to find yourself winning once in a while.
Over priced new skins and OP characters for the high paying players! Still play it but more for the guild friends and that’s it!

Disappointing

Entertaining but there are many software issues (at least for my iPad) that adversely affect game play. Customer support was unresponsive when contacted multiple times. Also, the game gives huge advantages only for players willing to make relatively large in app purchases. Free play is severely limited in comparison. Players are bombarded with multiple in app purchase offers daily for fees that seem out of proportion with the offered game play advantages. Play the game if desired but I would not recommend investing money in it as technical support will likely not be provided for software issues that you will likely encounter. After posting this message ucool issued a boiler plate response that did not address the software issues with the game or the seemingly flagrant lack of customer service. Ucool eventually contacted me and satisfactorily resolved my inquiries about the game functionality.

Heroes Charge

Honestly, I think it’s a game that lacks in some areas (sounds not matching up with the animations) but overall, it’s a fun game to play! I like all the different characters and I think it’s nice that you can test out characters you haven’t unlocked yet. However, I do think the main screen is over clustered with too many buttons, and I think that there should be a way to get skins in-game, for example: maybe you need to fight a stage 100 times, with the levels of the opponent getting higher with each level or something. Anyway, if you have time to read this and respond, thanks!

Ucool will not fix the problem on Server 269

I followed up with Ucool after my recent review where Ucool requested I contact them to solve the problem. I did contact their customer service and received no effort on their part other than providing a canned response to “optimize game play”. Ucool destroyed the beta server, has offered no compensation to anyone on that server for money spent and lost resources and they fail to even acknowledge that they did anything wrong. It is shameful that Ucool does this. Please watch that the response to this will be the same “canned” response with a request to contact them. Another poor show of customer service with no action at all. Do not play this game or spend any money on it. The game is ok but now only pay to play and when issues occur, no customer service. Ucool will only say they will help here but they fail to follow thru.

Update: I have contacted Ucool numerous times about this issue(and so have most of the players on server 269) and Ucool fails to respond or even fix the issue. Do not believe anything they say or indicate. They only care about money.
