Before the “new format” one could see articles from that current week in case you missed a day. The devs took that away! What are they thinking??!! I believe they are trying to Pavlovian train us to open their app every day. I use to love this app, and overall, I like the new format, but taking away the ability to see some past days makes this app expendable to me. I have unsubscribed in protest! Please bring this back, plus the quote of the day.
Won’t resubscribe until you do!

The app itself is a pretty basic source of news, the issue is with their subscription model. There is no way to cancel your subscription within the app or even on their website! I called their customer service number and was told I have to call ITunes directly to cancel. For an app to not have a way to cancel its own subscription is a joke. There are much better sources of news out there that don’t make you jump through hoops to cancel their subscription.

I have used the app for at least 5 years now. It’s my usual cycling companion. Little by little I have watched the engineering decline and judgement grow worse.
Bluetooth buffering has been a consistent flaw that they can’t seem to get right. On certain devices when there is a pause, the resumption is delayed. Poor QA practices.
UI is not really improving and in the audio section is plain bad.
I pay for the subscription. Can I expect not to have to “swipe left” to avoid the upfront ad? The swipe is poorly done so 3 out of times you end up clicking. That’s called a clickbait - is that Economist wishes?
When first introduced, it was annoying. Now that it is always shown even when you are simply returning to continue on the article you were reading or listening to, it’s just plain offensive. You think that extra half a cent worth the damage to you brand’s image?
Poor judgement on the app diminishes a great magazine.
