LondonReviewofBooks functions really well and is very easy to use, and it is a wonderful addition particularly during the pandemic when paper copies arrive late or sometimes not at all. But the choice of font size needs some work. There are only three or four settings and the difference — on an iPad mini — between the smallest size and the next largest is comically large. The smallest size means about 39 lines of an average 10 words each on the screen. He next size up is 25 lines of an average of about 6-7 words per line. There really should be something in between.

There’s no button to pause where you’re reading. If you don’t finish the article you’re reading in one go, you have to reopen LondonReviewofBooks and scroll endlessly through the article until you find where you left off.

Good app for great site. How they could make LondonReviewofBooks great is by adding a search section and to make the available issues not cut off before 2010. Not to be greedy, but would love LondonReviewofBooks to make ALL back issues available.

* remember reading progress when closing app
* share links should be for the article itself, not the issue’s table of contents
* web content should be accessible in-app
* general archive, issue, and article searches

" LondonReviewofBooks is so pathetic that the LRB should be ashamed to be associated with it."
I gave up on it, & had to satisfy myself with the print version. But when I got a notice about the new version, I decided to check it out. What a remarkable improvement!
Simple to use, nicely laid out, allows easy sharing, articles can be sent to Instapaper or Pocket. All of a sudden, LRB has gone to the top of my iPad reading list.
