Used to miss my real paper, but it’s great now and the S-R is important

When delivery to our north Idaho home was stopped, we protested then had to adjust. And buy a device to access the e version. Now that we’ve done that, we recognize the many advantages. Most importantly, we’re sooo grateful for a local newspaper. The reporting in the S-R is important and, as concerned and involved citizens, essential. TheSpokesmanReview does have an occasional glitch with misplaced text, but 99% of the time it works perfectly. It’s easy to navigate and loads quickly. Thanks.

E-Edition needs some work

I appreciate the ability to read my local newspaper online; and for the most part, your software facilitates that convenience nicely. I like that I can enlarge type to read articles; but there are some improvements that could be made. I use the software mostly on my iPad.

1. It should be possible to use the swipe advance motion to move from an advertisement to an article, or even using the right arrow tab that’s available when running on a PC. It does not advance if I have selected an ad image. I have to use my touchscreen to move back to a piece of editorial content. Annoying.

2. When I am reading an article, particularly on my PC, as ads load the text I’m reading bumps down and I have to relocate the place where I was reading. Very annoying.

3. Every day, there are two or three articles with jumbled text characters, making that text unreadable. These jumbles are usually in the subhead and first two or three paragraphs.

4. Finally, I want to be able to enlarge photographs. Right now, I can enlarge text for reading, but not the accompanying graphics while I am in text reading mode.

Thanks for the opportunity to provide this feedback.

Growing to enjoy the app

At first I didn’t want to even think about reading our beloved newspaper on my phone. Their are days in our rural existence that trudging down the driveway to get the paper is not the best or safest idea.
How nice to be able to tap that big “e” on my phone and read the paper. I especially like the ability to expand one article or just shift through the pages. Also it’s nice not having to wait for a section another family member is reading.
Sometimes TheSpokesmanReview gets “stuck and it’s hard to get to the next page. Other than that it’s very convenient to be able to read the paper anytime anywhere.

Affordable Information

This online supplement to my subscription to the Review is wonderful for me. I recently had to limit the days that I received the paper at the door due to financial issues. Fortunately, the
e-version helps me to stay informed on local, regional and national news at my convenience. I was surprised to learn that as a senior citizen, I can actually utilize this function easily and stay informed without straining my budget. While I do miss having the printed version, I am very grateful for the e-version. It works for me!
Thank you!

Spokesman-Review App

The S-R App is very easy to use on my iPad. I’ve never tried it on my iPhone, but I have no need to do so. I’m retired from work force so I am not looking at the paper “on the go.”

The S-R is an excellent home town/area newspaper. As expected, I don’t agree with all the Op-Ed’s, but they run a balance. Very good sports coverage. Good puzzles.

My subscription is part hard copy, part electronic. Delivered to the door: Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. All other days are electronic. Fair price and, with TheSpokesmanReview , a very good delivery system.

Recovery time

The only annoyance I have is that when reading the paper on line (I Pad) if I got to an email, text or step away for a minute and come back. The feed takes a time to come back and is often back to the beginning instead of where I left off. It’s minor but irritating.
All in all I appreciate having a local daily newspaper. Sue Lani Madsen is a waste of time and news ink. She is so clearly off base, sometimes just slightly in a curious way. I think the paper loses it veracity allowing that kind of disinformation to be disseminated.

Too liberal

After 50 years of reading the Spokesman, I am disappointed how liberal and biased it has become. The liberal writers tend to be negative and even nasty at times.
I always thought the media was supposed to be unbiased and that is not the case with my local newspaper. It’s not the case with the media in general in today’s world and that makes me sad.
Other than political news, I do enjoy the Spokesman Review.
I am disappointed that it became too expensive for me to have daily delivery because I have always enjoyed reading the physical newspaper and now have to read on line 5 days a week. It’s not the same.

Easy browsing, exceptional local news coverage

I don’t take the Spokesman-Review for granted. Their coverage of local issues is continuously improving in light of market conditions that have closed other newspapers or driven them to nearly all wire service articles. Just yesterday (9/21) every article on the front page, sports and northwest sections were written in house by an overworked and talented staff that we should recognize as invaluable to our community.

Good app over all

Good way to read the newspaper while traveling. I wish they would fix TheSpokesmanReview so it didn’t start over so frequently. Each time you leave it for a minute or two then come back, it reloads and sometimes jumps back to the start which is annoying. If you read it straight through or do not need to go back to a page to see something it’s good. It would seem that fixing the bugs wouldn’t be that hard but it’s still worth it to get the local paper!

Easy to Read Online

There are several things I really appreciate about TheSpokesmanReview .

The ability to choose the page, then the article, and there is no need to page through to find the remainder if it is continued on another page. I find that I read complete articles more often that way. Also, The print size can be increased making it much easier to read.

Spokesman-Review on line

I enjoy reading the paper on line, it saves trees and recycle volume, and my arms are short for reading a paper version, and my breakfast table is small.
I read it on a 10.5” iPad Pro in landscape mode which is mostly ok, but it’s easier on a computer.
For some reason the page is now slow to fill in though it was better before. And if I go to another app and come back to this aap, I have to wait til the paper reloads all over again.

But thanks for doing a pretty good job on this.

Easy to use

You quickly learn how to use TheSpokesmanReview, no matter how little your computer knowledge. After scanning through the whole document, you can immediately increase the fonts on the articles that interest you. As a senior, you never have to worry about where you left it, because it is right on your phone wherever you are (and that phone IS wherever you are).

It works

I can read the paper on my phone or any where. Still don't like the idea of there not being a physical paper. But my neighbors keep grabbing it or the delivery person keeps not putting it close enough to my door so no one gets confused as to who's paper it is. What mess! Im easily distracted so a physical news paper was needed. Just hope i don't not read the news because of all the dang phone alerts!

Great app!

I really enjoy reading the paper this way. I also enjoy the option to listen to the paper with the read aloud feature while I am getting ready in the morning. It would be nice if there was a way to pause listening mid story and resume but overall it is great. Also I wish it would not start reading the story over if I don’t manually stop it. Love the flexibility of the E editions!

SR mobile app not loading correctly since iOS update

Pages keep crashing - especially ones with graphics. Called Apple Support. They tried everything they could, but SR app still won’t load correctly. Not having the problem with other news sites. Using 5th gen. iPad.

Found if I open with the email notice and not with the SR app it doesn’t crash. Go figure...

SR platform brings local news to you

This application works exceptionally well, advertisements are rare, and the access to our local news is critical for all of us in the community. The platform may change, but the quality of journalism with focus on truth, and multiple viewpoints are critical for us in Spokane. This application really puts the highest quality information in your palm.

Tuning in from Alaska

The Spokesman is a great newspaper! Great coverage local, regional, national and worldwide. I also love our local Daily Newsminer newspaper up here in Alaska but it is facing the same problems as are most local news media with our new digital age. The Spokesman has great sports coverage as well, which we do not get up here. I am happy to support and to subscribe to both of these wonderful newspapers, which are truly institutions

Good paper

The Spokesman-Review is doing a great job. Although I grew up with it, I haven’t lived in Spokane for many years. I saw and read S-R infrequently. I have had the e-version now for a couple years bc we are big Zag fans. In my humble opinion, the paper is better than it has ever been. It’s journalism and presentation are better than the Oregonian and the Seattle Times. The e-version ranks just under WP and NYT, a bit above The Guardian.

Timely Delivery of The Spokesman-Review Right to my iPad!

No more slogging out into the snow to pickup my news paper on winter mornings. No more water logged papers during April showers. Enjoy the daily delivery of our local paper right to your internet connected device. Have instant access to past issues as well all at a very economical cost while supporting local journalists.

Love reading the Online Version!

Being able to read the Spokesman Review online where ever I am physically, is the total best! The Spokesman has a good mix of national, state and local news—which is what I am interested in keeping current with. I have been a Spokesman customer for over 30 years and plan to be a customer in the future.

Easy to use and less recycling required

TheSpokesmanReview is convenient and easy to use on my iPad. Can be used on a phone but had to see because so small.

I now only receive physical paper couple of times a week, so cuts down on the use of wood/paper pulp, and me having to haul papers to recycling bins. Getting older 😑.
